Blues want a sizable sell-on clause in any agreement due to their aggressive youth recruitment campaign.
Ben Elliott, a young Chelsea midfielder, could leave Stamford Bridge permanently this summer, and Lorient is one of the teams showing interest in him.
After making his full international debut for Cameroon in June, the 20-year-old is drawing interest from Ligue 1 in France and has just one year left on his contract.
Due to a radical recruitment drive at the youth level, Chelsea is open to selling Elliott, who played 26 games for their Under-21s last season and contributed four goals and six assists.
Elliott won’t have a high asking price for a transfer, but Chelsea will aim for a sizable sell-on clause in any deal.
Despite receiving a contract offer from Chelsea, Malik Mothersille left the team. The 19-year-old is weighing offers from Belgium, France, the Championship, and Holland.
Tudor Mendel-Idowu has also been offered a new contract at Chelsea but has not yet accepted it. Many young people are worried about their potential career paths, so the future of the 18-year-old is still uncertain.
Ishe Samuels-Smith, a 17-year-old fullback from Everton, has been signed by Chelsea for £4 million.
Next season, Samuels-Smith is anticipated to join an upgraded Under-21 squad that includes Benfica winger Diego Moreira and Norwich City midfielder Alex Matos.
The 18-year-old winger Angelo Gabriel from Santos has also joined Chelsea, but he will be immediately loaned to their new partner club Strasbourg.

Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic for just £34m this summer. The Blues are currently negotiating a deal with Brighton to sign Moises Caicedo, but Milinkovic-Savic could prove to be the perfect cheap alternative.
football.london understands that Arsenal tried to sign Caicedo in January and made two offers which were quickly rejected.
However, they have since cooled their interest in the 21-year-old. Despite being pressured to leave, Caicedo signed a contract extension a few months later that will keep him at the Amex Stadium until 2027.
football.london understands the Blues have a strong interest in the Ecuador international and they are aware he could cost around £80million.
Caicedo has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Chelsea and it is now up to the two clubs to agree a transfer fee – the Ecuador international has reportedly been promised he could leave Brighton this summer.
Considering Chelsea have already parted ways with N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the Blues could be looking to sign more than one new central midfielder ahead of next season.
A report from CaughtOffside has now revealed that Milinkovic-Savic has been offered to the West Londoners as he enters the final 12 months of his contract with Lazio.
Former Blues player Mateja Kezman is the Serbian midfielder’s agent and that could help the Blues negotiate a deal that would see the 28-year-old join Stamford Bridge this summer.
The report adds that Chelsea like Milinkovic-Savic and are ready to consider him as a possible option to strengthen their midfield.
Caicedo and Southampton talent Romeo Lavia are seen as priorities for the Blues, but Milinkovic-Savic is an affordable alternative and could be the perfect partner for Enzo Fernandez in midfield.
The Serbian international has impressed during his time in Italy and is regarded as a strong box-to-box midfielder.
Milinkovic-Savic scored 11 goals and provided a further eight assists in 47 appearances for Lazio last season, showing he can contribute goals and assists from a deeper position, something Chelsea lacked last season.
Juventus and other Premier League clubs have been touted as potential destinations for the 28-year-old but it appears Kezman is keen to help his former club sort out their midfield woes and would be willing to negotiate a deal for Milinkovic-Savic at Stamford. Bridge.
