Blues want a sizable sell-on clause in any agreement due to their aggressive youth recruitment campaign.
Ben Elliott, a young Chelsea midfielder, could leave Stamford Bridge permanently this summer, and Lorient is one of the teams showing interest in him.
After making his full international debut for Cameroon in June, the 20-year-old is drawing interest from Ligue 1 in France and has just one year left on his contract.
Due to a radical recruitment drive at the youth level, Chelsea is open to selling Elliott, who played 26 games for their Under-21s last season and contributed four goals and six assists.
Elliott won’t have a high asking price for a transfer, but Chelsea will aim for a sizable sell-on clause in any deal.
Despite receiving a contract offer from Chelsea, Malik Mothersille left the team. The 19-year-old is weighing offers from Belgium, France, the Championship, and Holland.

Tudor Mendel-Idowu has also been offered a new contract at Chelsea but has not yet accepted it. Many young people are worried about their potential career paths, so the future of the 18-year-old is still uncertain.
Ishe Samuels-Smith, a 17-year-old fullback from Everton, has been signed by Chelsea for £4 million.
Next season, Samuels-Smith is anticipated to join an upgraded Under-21 squad that includes Benfica winger Diego Moreira and Norwich City midfielder Alex Matos.
The 18-year-old winger Angelo Gabriel from Santos has also joined Chelsea, but he will be immediately loaned to their new partner club Strasbourg.
