Liverpool
‘It’s all agreed,’ Fabrizio Romano announces early morning transfer news affecting Liverpool.

Nicolo Barella. A player who appears to be a perfect fit for Liverpool Football Club but is always beyond of reach for them.
It appears that things will remain that way for the foreseeable future, with the Italian international now ‘likely to sign’ new terms with Inter Milan.
Fabrizio Romano broke the devastating news on his personal X (previously Twitter) account in the early hours of Friday morning.

The 27-year-old’s current deal was supposed to go another two years (ending in the summer of 2026).
Not to fear, Barella’s age would most likely have worked against him.
At 27 years old, the name would have undoubtedly raised questions in our recruitment department.
This is not to say that we can’t make allowances for genuine talent. However, as the Thiago Alcantara experiment shown, we are probably best off sticking with our most successful pattern.
Arne Slot’s squad will most likely be reinforced by younger arrivals aged 20 to 25. Not a problem from our end. If Michael Edwards can instill any of his early sporting director magic in the new man in charge, Richard Hughes, we’re in for a real treat.
So long, Barella. Good fortune!

Liverpool to extend youngstar contract PRIOR to Arne Slot even glancing at him
Conor Bradley’s future has already been decided by Liverpool, even before Arne Slot has visited the team and evaluated the player.
Liverpool is reportedly prepared to extend a deal to Conor Bradley, according to Teamtalk. Despite a wage increase in December, the 20-year-old is among the lowest paid members of the Reds’ starting lineup.
Liverpool therefore wants to give him a long-term contract that will most likely come with a big salary increase.
It’s noteworthy in especially because it seems like they made this judgement before Arne Slot had a chance to examine Bradley. It implies that Slot has not been involved in the situation at all, or that he is just accepting everything he has observed from a distance.
Naturally, Slot has been appointed head coach by Liverpool instead of manager. One of the differences is that he has very little control over things like transfers and contracts.
Slot doesn’t lead the charge on contracts, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have a say—it would be silly not to involve the person making the player decisions. Here’s a great illustration of that.
Above all, though, it’s a testament to Bradley’s talent and Liverpool’s belief in him.
The Future of CONOR BRADLEY
Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders have been talking up Bradley a lot; the latter even hinted that he would like to sign the right-back for RB Leipzig. So, there really ought to be no room for debate regarding his calibre.
Additionally, the Northern Irishman will have an eventful season. Of course, a new management and a new system to get used to. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s role and whether or not this is the time he transfers permanently into midfield are other topics of frequent rumour.
In such case, Bradley might quickly establish himself as Liverpool’s first-choice right-back. Still, a long way to go before anyone can make that claim.
We can conclude, however, that Bradley is most likely here to stay, and Liverpool are the better for it.
