Jean-Clair Todibo: Tottenham want £39m Liverpool and Manchester United transfer target in January

The top goal is to sign a centre defender, but there are three other players we have our eye on. Jota, a former Celtic winger, might possibly go on loan.
As they are ready to hit the transfer market in January in search of a new center-back, Tottenham has entered the competition to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
Spurs are prepared to challenge Manchester United and Liverpool for France international Todibo since they are in dire need of defensive reinforcements.
With Nice chasing Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1, the 23-year-old has shown promise and is reportedly available for roughly £39 million.
Spurs made finding a new center-back their top goal in January, although some of the greatest teams in Europe are anticipated to compete with them for Todibo.
Due to a hamstring injury, Micky van de Ven will be sidelined until the new year. In Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Aston Villa, Ange Postecoglou filled in at full-back for Ben Davies and Emerson Royal, as Cristian Romero was suspended.
In addition, Lloyd Kelly of Bournemouth has long piqued Spurs’ interest. Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton are potential backup options.
Todibo is eager to join the Premier League but, after making an impression on the France team, he will look for guarantees that he would start most games as he tries to push his way into the very competitive Les Bleus defence in time for Euro 2024, which takes place in the summer.
Spurs are trying to add depth at centre back, where Van van Ven and Romero already form a formidable tandem.
Todibo is also less eager to transfer now that Nice is putting together a championship defence following an undefeated start to the campaign.
Postecoglou hopes to bring in a new defensive acquisition as soon as possible in January.
Johan Lange, the new sporting director for the Spurs, will assist chairman Daniel Levy in making plans for January and add players to their shortlist.
Given that Kelly’s contract expires in the summer of 2020, he might be the most realistic alternative in January as Palace and Everton battle it out to retain both Guehi and Branthwaite.
Kelly did, however, suffer a hamstring strain over the weekend, so he may need to miss some time.
Eric Dier, who was once again benched for the Villa loss, may depart Spurs in January.
While acquiring a center-back is Spurs’ top priority in January, they may also try to bolster their lineup at other areas, like as the wing, where Manor Solomon is certain to miss the entire season and Ivan Perisic is out for the season.
Jota, the Al-Ittihad winger who played under Postecoglou at Celtic, may be sent on loan; a law limiting the number of international players per club prevents the Portuguese from playing for the Saudi Pro League team at the moment.
Jota, 24, was a standout player for Glasgow’s Postecoglou before agreeing a £25 million contract to join Al-Ittihad in the summer.

Report: The 20-year-old Brazilian prodigy is now the favourite to sign with Liverpool.
Liverpool has set their sights on Sao Paulo’s Lucas Beraldo, a young player, as they attempt to bolster their defence.
Brazil has great expectations for the 20-year-old, and he might end up being a valuable long-term addition to the Premier League team.
It’s no secret that Liverpool needs defence reinforcements, and the 20-year-old Joel Matip replacement may be the best option in the long run. Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are the team’s only other trustworthy central defenders at the moment.
According to a UOL report, Liverpool is the front-runners to sign the 20-year-old defender, but it’s unclear if they can finalise a deal. It will be tempting for the gifted young defender to sign with a major team like Liverpool, but it is unclear if the Premier League team can work out a deal with Sao Paulo.
In addition to playing left-sided central defence, Beraldo can also play right-sided central defence. Additionally, his versatility allows him to play as a defensive midfielder.
Liverpool may have made a smart investment in the 20-year-old if they can work out a fair deal with the Brazilian team for him. The defender might be a valuable long-term asset for Liverpool if he can continue to grow into a top-tier Premier League player.
