Jose Mourinho has already spoken on the shortlist for the new Liverpool manager.

Some Liverpool supporters are contemplating the most unexpected course of action after Jose Mourinho’s attendance at Craven Cottage the day before the club’s manager search was widely publicised.

Liverpool defeated Fulham 3-1 on Sunday to keep their title aspirations alive, and former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was in the stands.

Although the reason for his absence is yet unknown, Ruben Amorim’s near-certainty as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement on Monday has created some curiosity.

While some view it as the worst conceivable choice for the club, others see it as a way to pad the box office until more worthy candidates surface.

It’s questionable if he would actually be taken into consideration given that Liverpool’s requirements are centred on youthful managers who play offensive football and feel at ease elevating from within.

From Mourinho’s perspective, there is an admission that he is not one of their stated candidates, Sam Wallace of the Telegraph reports.

Wallace adds that Mourinho “notes that the current shortlist does not feature his name,” and that his past associations with Manchester United “would likely rule him out.”

“I don’t want to stop at 65 just because I’m 61. Not at all, Mourinho remarked. “My career still has a long way to go.”

“My ideal job description is ‘head coach,’ because sometimes a job title is just one aspect of a job description,” he continued.

“I want to do it. to hold the position of coach. To be the squad leader who concentrates on player development and match preparation.

It’s thought that Liverpool is posting job openings for a “head coach” position, which would transfer authority from the manager to the boardroom.

“The club’s desire and need for a coach with my background and level of desire could really make a difference,” Mourinho went on.

“And how much empathy and feeling I could get from the structure.”

Though it’s improbable and most likely an unhappy decision, it’s noteworthy that the odds on Mourinho taking over as Liverpool manager have drastically decreased.

Bookies rank him as their fourth favourite, behind only Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi, and Arne Slot.

Joel Matip has been offered to Fenerbahce by his agents, according to Turkish publication Sabah. The defender’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and this rumour claims Liverpool will not extend it.

Fenerbahce is interested in signing him, which creates an opening. But before any settlement is made, there’s a clear standoff.

Matip is not likely to play again this season after suffering an ACL tear months ago. He should be back to normal by June, but nobody can promise that until they have a medical report.

Fenerbahce will therefore have to wait for the findings of a report before making a formal bid for Matip. Everything else depends on his fitness, even if it is commonly anticipated that he will depart Liverpool at the end of his contract.

Matip is leaving with a heavy heart, and it’s completely unwarranted. Given his advanced age and the uncertainty surrounding his long-term fitness, we do believe he will depart, but things really shouldn’t be this way.

Being one of Jurgen Klopp’s first signings and coming on a free transfer, Matip has been an amazing helper. Fewer signings have been better, and perhaps none better financially.

However, the manager’s change solidifies the departure. We’re not sure if Matip needs to sign a new contract on such harsh terms, but we wonder what would happen if he did.

If Matip can demonstrate his fitness, many teams will be willing to take a chance on him because of his excellent calibre throughout the previous eight seasons. He should be able to make a wise move, and hopefully he will
