Klopp admitted in his pre-Everton press conference that Robertson will undergo shoulder surgery. “It’s the strategy that determines where we go,”

Jurgen Klopp has listed his options after confirming Andy Robertson is fit for the long-term.

Klopp admitted in his pre-Everton press conference that Robertson will undergo shoulder surgery.
“It’s the strategy that determines where we go,” the Liverpool manager said. “There was little chance of trying it without it, but according to experts, surgery may be better in the long run.
“It means he’ll be out for a while.
“I don’t know exactly how long it will take, but shoulder surgery is not easy,” he said.

As a result, Kostas Tsimikas will deputize for Robertson until he recovers.
But Klopp said Liverpool have other options apart from the Greek side.

“It’s good we don’t have Kostas, otherwise we would have played less,” said the German.
“But we have Joe Gomez who can play in that position, Luke Chambers and other young players who are often involved in training.
Until yesterday the kids weren’t there yet and I took them to international relaxation training.
It’s good to see other people showing up.
There’s a lot of talent out there.
“Costi is without a doubt the most experienced player in that position, but he can’t play every game anymore, so we need other options and we have to make sure they are all available.”

Chambers is ready for his first-team opportunity

Even without Robertson’s injury, Chambers was looking for a first-team opportunity.

The 19-year-old has impressed in the 2022 pre-season and has also impressed in Scotland with Kilmarnock.

As a result, Bayer Leverkusen are keen to sign him this summer and Liverpool are on course to keep hold of the youngster.

This season has been a good one for Chambers.
Although it was a brief cameo, he made his debut for Leicester City in the Carabao Cup last month.

Now, provided he recovers from injury, the England U19 star could make his full debut against Toulouse next week.
From there, Liverpool fans can see what kind of player they have.

As always in football, injuries are hard to accept at first. Especially with an injury as important as Robertson’s. But this is a time for young players to take advantage of their opportunities to shine. For Chambers, that moment had come.

Liverpool is allegedly interested in a Brazilian defender.

Michail Antonio declares Liverpool to have "won"  As he speaks out about his embarrassing pre-match remarks

Still looking for a defender is the Reds. With a brand-new midfield but no additional defenders, Liverpool closed the summer transfer window with a bang.
It’s obvious that the center-back position needs to be filled with fresh talent.
The injury table is a point of contention for 32-year-old captain Virgil van Dijk’s teammates Ibrahima Konaté and Jol Matip like it’s the final musical chair.

Although Liverpool hasn’t historically done much business in the winter, they have been known to make exceptions if the need is great enough or the player is talented enough.
The ideal illustration of that would be van Dijk himself, with whom the Reds finally agreed to a contract in January 2018.

The Brazilian player Lucas Beraldo is one that Klopp and company are reportedly considering right now to fill the need in defense.
Currently, Beraldo represents Sao Paulo in his native Brazil.

The English and European teams are reportedly interested in him, according to the Brazilian media.

In addition to the Reds, Wolves and Newcastle United are also rumored to be contenders, and teams like Porto, Benfica, and Monaco are also being mentioned. The center back, who is 19 years old and also plays for Brazil’s U20 team, made his team debut last year.

He wouldn’t be the player vying for position next to van Dijk if he did make it to Merseyside.
Up until Klopp saw evidence of his abilities, he would hold down at least fourth place in the pecking order.

He might have been a good long-term project and a nice fit for the team, according to the scouting reports.

It’s possible, but it’s more likely that they’re just spreading false information and will soon disappear from the map.
