Chelsea star Kai Havertz looks set to move to Arsenal this summer in a huge transfer change

Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea star Kai Havertz in a major deal this summer, if recent reports are to be believed.

The 24-year-old looks set to leave the Blues after three years in West London as he struggled to consistently perform at the top level.

The striker was signed as a man of the match by Bayer Leverkusen and will be fondly remembered for his Champions League winning goal against Manchester City in 2021. Despite this, there could be a sense of missed opportunity for both Chelsea and Havertz.

However, with just two years left to go, the German international could face a similar ultimatum to the rest of the squad, with an offer of a new deal or possible sale to protect his transfer value.

With interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, a departure seemed possible, but the player didn’t push for it.

Nor are they one of those two European giants he joins, but London rival Arsenal in a shocking transfer market twist. football.london understands the Gunners have a genuine interest in Havertz, but are unwilling to match Chelsea’s £70m valuation.

While it remains to be seen when Arsenal will make their offer for the striker, Sky Germany reports that an agreement on a deal is “close”. The personal terms appear to be evolving into a full agreement that would move Havertz very soon.

The only thing left is an agreement between the clubs. The Gunners are preparing a final offer, to which Chelsea will await a response. The report estimates the total package will be worth £68m, but it remains to be seen how the package will be split.

Bayern Munich have been made aware of the situation, but talks with Arsenal have reportedly gone too far and led to the team not pursuing the deal at this stage.

It could be a big deal for both clubs if the Blues recoup their transfer fee while the Gunners land a talent who could still progress.
