Liverpool have started the summer transfer window well with Paris Saint-Germain and French star Kylian Mbappé already giving Jürgen Klopp’s plans a huge boost

Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappé appears to have approved the move from Liverpool to winger Jeremy Doku.

Reports have surfaced in France in recent days that the Reds and Jurgen Klopp have a “strong interest” in the Belgian full-back. The draws come after Doku enjoyed his most productive season for Rennes with seven goals to his name in all competitions last season.

His form helped the French side finish fourth in Ligue 1 to secure a place in the group stage of the Europa League, the sixth consecutive season in European football. One man who has been impressed by Doku’s performances in recent campaigns has been French striker Mbappé.

He revealed he discussed the striker in a chat with his dad and was a big fan of his talents. “I recently spoke to my father about a player who impressed me with his qualities of speed, namely Doku, in Rennes”, said Mbappé in June 2021.

“In my five years as a professional, I have never seen anyone demonstrate so much strength from a standing start.”

Doku, 21, has made 90 appearances for Rennes since joining from Belgian giants Anderlecht. During that time, he recorded 11 goals and ten assists in all competitions, while creating opportunities at international level with 14 appearances for Belgium.

It’s not the first time Liverpool have been linked with a winger move. Already in 2017 he was invited to Merseyside but decided to stay in Anderlecht.

Rumor has it that the youngster has also been considered by Reds and Premier League rivals Chelsea ahead of the World Cup. Given this interest, Doku also praises Manchester City’s three-time winner Kevin De Bruyne.

After scoring his first international goal, the striker said: “He [Doku] is nimble, quick and he can dribble. Of course, sometimes he makes mistakes, but who doesn’t? It’s a diamond in the rough. »

Doku has two years left on his contract in France and should Liverpool seek a deal in the near future, he would be Merseyside’s other new face. Liverpool have already managed to secure the £45m signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.

Meanwhile, there has been a slight change in their attack with the departure of Roberto Firmino – who could make room for Doku. Luis Diaz is also expected to play a much bigger role in the next term.

The Colombian is now free from the injury problems that plagued him in his previous season and has also been given the Reds’ iconic number seven shirt coat.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has discovered “his own Fernando Torres,” but he confronts an £85 million conundrum.

Jurgen Klopp has been told he has his own Fernando Torres at Liverpool.

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is Jurgen Klopp’s own Fernandes Torres, claims ex-Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino.

The pundit has questioned how Klopp will use his Uruguayan frontman next season after a mixed debut campaign in English football.

Liverpool signed Nunez last summer for a fee that could rise to £85million. It will break the club’s transfer record once certain add-ons are reached.

The 24-year-old was not able to have the impact many hoped for last season. He started just 19 Premier League matches, coming off the bench on nine other occasions.

Nunez scored nine times and registered three assists, as well as netting four times in the Champions League. But he had to settle for a place for much of the latter stages of the season.

Cascarino has compared Nunez to former Reds striker Torres but more because of the Spaniard’s spell at Chelsea.

Torres often fought in front of the goal when he played for the blues and could not do justice to his price tag of 50 million GBP.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has discovered "his own Fernando Torres," but he confronts an £85 million conundrum.
Cascarino says that there are similarities to Nunez and is fascinated to see how Klopp uses him after such a great effort in relation to a transmission fee in the next term.

He said about talk sport: “I am really fascinated what he is doing with Nunez. He regularly found himself out of the team towards the end of the season.

“You paid £ 80 million for him and he has not improved. Liverpool fans, they were a bit like Chelsea fans were with Torres, really willing him on to keep going and going and going.

“Chelsea fans were fantastic with Torres and likewise with Timo Werner. Liverpool fans were that to Nunez, they always sang his name, they always were willing and knowing he was trying for them. But he’s got to be better for Liverpool next year.”

Liverpool missed out on the Premier League top four last season and therefore Champions League qualification.

Cascarino says some of the performances were of particular concern but has backed Klopp to turn it around. He added: “There were some terrible versions. Naples removed in the Champions League for me.

“Brentford’s performance, the way Brentford played against Liverpool, found really difficult.

Many other games, even Arsenal disappeared, I thought they were really bad, even if sometimes it was a close match, I thought Still it was a poor goods.

“They have had difficult versions for Liverpool fans. It must be better and I believe he is the man for it.
