Leandro Paredes: Chelsea considers a bid for preferred Maricio Pochettino’s choice as a potential replacement for Moises Caicedo

After becoming impatient with the slow pace of their pursuit of Moises Caicedo, Chelsea has expressed interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes.

Last week, Brighton rejected a revised £80 million offer for Caicedo, valuing the Ecuadorian international at over £100 million.

Caicedo wants to move to Stamford Bridge, but Brighton won’t lower their asking price, and Chelsea is looking at other possibilities.

With Paredes having previously worked with him at PSG, Mauricio Pochettino lacks depth in the central midfield.

The 29-year-old is in the final year of his contract with Paris and is readily available for a fair price. He won the World Cup with Argentina last year.

Although Paredes does not fit the Todd Boehly-Clearlake ownership’s typical target player profile, Pochettino is eager to bolster his team’s experience ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Chelsea could still lose Conor Gallagher, and if that happens, the Blues will likely want to sign two new midfielders.

Possible targets include Amadou Onana of Everton, Tyler Adams of Leeds United, Edson Alvarez of Ajax, and Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo, who is a more attacking option.

Chelsea is nearing a double deal to sign Monaco defender Axel Disasi for £38.6 million and Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for £25 million.

When deciding whether to expand their options up front, they are also thinking about a move for Michael Olise, a winger for Crystal Palace.

Although a transfer for the PSG star has reportedly been rejected, Chelsea has been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe.

There is a suspicion that PSG is attempting to involve a significant Premier League team in their political conflict with Real Madrid over Mbappe.

Axel Disasi: Chelsea acquires the France international defender from Monaco for £38.8 million.

Axel Disasi has agreed to a six-year contract with Chelsea. According to co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley of the Blues, Axel has demonstrated his talent over a number of seasons in France, and this has rightfully earned him recognition on the international stage.

Axel Disasi left Monaco and was acquired by Chelsea for £38.8 million.

The center back from France has committed to Stamford Bridge for six years.

Disasi, whose name had been associated with Manchester United and Newcastle during this transfer window, still had two years left on his deal with Monaco.

Before approving a move for Disasi, Monaco desired a replacement; Mohammed Salisu of Southampton became that signing this month.

As a result of Wesley Fofana’s ACL injury, Pochettino had previously stated Chelsea was planning to reenter the center-back market.

The player, Fofana, underwent knee surgery, and Pochettino expressed optimism that the player would make a comeback from injury this season.

At center-back, Pochettino now has a choice between Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, who just renewed a six-year contract with Chelsea, and Disasi.

A hamstring injury sustained at the end of the previous season is still bothering Disasi’s former Monaco teammate, Benoit Badiashile, who is currently on the mend.

Disasi spent four years in Reims before moving to Monaco in 2020. He made three appearances for France at the 2022 World Cup.

The 25-year-old is Chelsea’s sixth summer acquisition, following Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu, Diego Moreira, and Angelo.
