LFC transfer news: Arne Slot ‘ready to pay $65 million clause’ and Fabio Carvalho ‘decision’ concluded

Liverpool transfer news as the first summer signing for the Reds could be closer after a crucial choice. There is information on Fabio Carvalho’s future in the meantime.
Supporters of Liverpool are starting to feel nervous. Or at least some are, as the Reds have not yet finalised the first signing of Arne Slot, their new head coach.
Every Premier League club, with the exception of Fulham and Brentford, has added at least one first-team player to their roster this summer. Even though Michael Edwards’ return to the team was much anticipated by supporters, it’s important to keep in mind that the Reds did not sign any former players during his previous tenure.
This is not likely to be the case now. Of course, there are still a lot of rumours circulating about Slot’s team growing. Takefusa Kubo is the target of the most of them, but there are others.
Regarding the Japan international, a big choice might have also been made.
Here’s Liverpool.com’s assessment on the transfer rumours circulating about the Reds today, along with more information on that and an update on Fabio Carvalho.
Takefusa Kubo – (Real Sociedad)
The third player who has a real chance of signing with Liverpool this summer is Kubo. The Reds attempted to acquire Anthony Gordon and Leny Yoro through bids, but both deals fell through.
According to reports coming out of Spain, Liverpool is prepared to fulfil Kubo’s $65 million (£51 million/€60 million) release clause. As well as mentioning the Reds’ “intensified interest” in Wataru Endo’s international teammate, AS also says this.
While on a preseason tour with Real Sociedad, Kubo has returned to his native country. Given that Liverpool is supposedly “going strong” to complete a move and is prepared to “pay the clause” in order to do so, he might have to return to Europe shortly.
According to Liverpool.com, the Reds appear to have this much money stashed away to get the wide forward they want, based on the reported bid for Gordon. This story may progress really swiftly because persuading the player should be fairly simple.
Carvalho Fabio – (Liverpool)
For more than a year, Carvalho has not been spotted wearing a Liverpool shirt. His last game for the Reds was in May 2023; four months earlier, he had made his debut.
Slot however, is expected to present the 21-year-old with an opportunity to shine. Football Insider has learnt from sources that Carvalho will get a chance during the preseason and that a decision about his long-term future won’t be made right away.
That is allegedly going to be taken upon the team’s return from its three-game tour of the US. Since Carvalho did not participate in the preseason before 2023–2024, this is his best opportunity to potentially play for the first team in a long time.
According to Liverpool.com, Slot has a right to give every player in the team an opportunity. Carvalho and Elliott seemed to be vying for the same “diminutive playmaker” position in the past, but Fabio might have more opportunities if the new head coach makes a tactical adjustment.
