Liverpool and Giorgi Mamardashvili seal a £29.6 million contract; today’s medical

Giorgi Mamardashvili, a goalkeeper from Valencia, has agreed to join Liverpool after all the kinks have been worked out; nevertheless, he will not report to the team this summer.
The Reds are currently preparing for the future, which has brought them to Mamardashvili, a 23-year-old goalkeeper who has been Valencia’s first choice since the beginning of 2022.
He has been the subject of transfer rumours for several weeks as the team has worked out the specifics of an agreement that will prevent him from playing for Arne Slot’s team this year.
Instead, according to journalist David Lynch, Mamardashvili is set to sign a contract worth €35 million (£29.6 million), including add-ons. Although he will be the first summer signing, he will spend 2024–2025 in Spain.
The 6’6′′ goalkeeper will continue at Valencia, where he has already played 102 games, until an announcement is made in the summer about whether he will stay, play at Anfield, or move on loan to another team.
This Monday, August 26, the 23-year-old will have his medical examination.

will be returned to Valencia on loan for the 2024–25 Medical,
which is scheduled for Monday, August 26.
Goalie is anticipated to sign a six-year deal.
Alisson’s next moves will be heavily influenced by his future, but the Brazilian is still unquestionably the team’s best player and has made no secret of his devotion to the group.
Although many people would have preferred—and still would—that Liverpool would make more transfers this summer, this one is significant for the team’s succession plans.
Liverpool cannot afford to risk having to replace its core in a single transfer window, with players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk nearing the conclusion of their careers rather than the beginning.
With 21 senior caps for Georgia, Mamardashvili is a dynamic young goalkeeper known for his fast reflexes and dexterity off the line.
Who is Giorgi Mamardashvili?
After spending time on loan at FC Rustavi and Locomotive Tbilisi, he joined Georgian club Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021 and has been Valencia’s first-choice goalkeeper for the past 2.5 seasons.
Mamardashvili was the surprise performer of the tournament and played a significant role in Georgia’s run to the round of 16.
He finished the tournament with the most goals prevented (4.7) and saves per ninety minutes (7.5), according to FotMob.
“Mama defends well, he is an agile and fast goalkeeper,” defender Victor Mongil, who trained with Mamardashvili at Dinamo Tbilisi, said to Breaking The Lines last year about his style of play.
“He’s a goalkeeper who can reach balls that can be difficult for taller goalkeepers, like Courtois or Donnarumma, who struggle there. He handles low shots well.”
