Liverpool reportedly rejected RB Leipzig’s offer of just over £10 million for young star Fabio Carvalho, but the Bundesliga club is still reportedly interested in the midfielder.
Liverpool made a strong effort to sign Carvalho in January 2022, but the club missed the transfer deadline and had to wait for a deal to be reached in the following summer.
Despite having a promising beginning to life at Anfield, the Portugal Under-21 international played just 11 minutes of Premier League after the World Cup ended in December.
Jurgen Klopp still believes in the talent and potential of Carvalho, despite the fact that the 20-year-old was largely left out of his team for the second half of the season.
Although Liverpool are still open to a short-term transfer, the former Fulham talent wants to play. However, it has been reported that Carvalho would be against this.
According to Philipp Hinze of Sky Sports Germany, Liverpool had rejected the €12 million offer from RB Leipzig for Fabio Carvalho. The 20-year-old Portuguese player is highly regarded by LFC. Alexis Mac Allister: Liverpool hoping to sign midfielder from Brighton and Argentina midfielder
Liverpool have been in contact with Brighton about the signing of Alexis Mac Allister, who has an escape clause of between £45m and £55m in his contract; Jurgen Klopp wants to renew the midfield after the departure of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo
Liverpool are hoping to sign Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this week.
The two Premier League clubs have been in contact over Argentina’s World Cup winner, who has an escape clause of between £45m and £55m in his contract.
Mac Allister signed a new contract with Brighton last October, extending a deal which was due to expire this summer but now runs until summer 2025, with an option for a further 12 months
Once the release clause is met, personal terms should soon be agreed between Liverpool and Mac Allister.
The 24-year-old’s arrival could kick-start what looks set to be a busy summer at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp looking to refresh a side that have missed out on Champions League qualification this season.
With Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner all leaving the club on expiring contracts, midfield is a particular area Liverpool need as Arthur Melo returns to Juventus at the end of his loan. Milner is about to move to Brighton and his move to Amex is nearing completion.
Brighton finished just one place behind Liverpool in the Premier League and will be playing in Europe for the first time next season.
Mac Allister joined from Argentinos Juniors in January 2019 but spent the rest of the season with the Argentine club before spending the first half of the 2019-20 season on loan at Boca Juniors.
Mac Allister finally moved to Amex in January 2020 and made 112 appearances for Brighton, scoring 20 goals and collecting nine assists.
He had a breakthrough in the 2022/23 season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions and has become a key part of Roberto De Zerbi’s impressive squad.
Mac Allister also established himself in Argentina’s midfield at the World Cup in November and December, starting six games – including the final – as Lionel Scaloni’s side won the tournament in Qatar.
