Liverpool is eager to sign the 22-year-old central defender, who has been linked to a move away from the Portuguese team for months.

According to a Football Insider source, the Portuguese team is willing to let him go this summer for an estimated £40 million. Inacio definitely fits the bill as a top-notch centre defender that Liverpool needs to add.

Joel Matip’s contract will expire in the summer, thus they will need to find a replacement. Furthermore, they require a player who can occasionally fill in as the left-back.

Because of his versatility, Inacio can play both full-back and central defence. He will have an exciting opportunity to join the Premier League, and Liverpool would be wise to sign him.

In the upcoming seasons, the Portuguese international can undoubtedly justify the £40 million investment, and at that price, he can even turn out to be a steal.

Liverpool should make recruiting a defender a top priority since they need more depth in their team. This season, they have appeared to be somewhat exposed in the back.

Liverpool might have the upper hand in the chase for Goncalo Inacio.

Liverpool may have a significant edge over other teams in their summertime pursuit of the Portuguese defender. Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting CP, has been connected to them; his appointment at Anfield might facilitate the transfer of players from the Portuguese team.

It will be interesting to watch how things work out in the next weeks.

Inacio has a bright career ahead of him and is well-liked throughout Europe. With the correct coaching, he has the potential to become one of the Premier League’s top defenders. Liverpool needs to use all of their efforts to sign him this summer.

“It’s what they always do,” says Fabrizio Romano, explaining why Klopp and Liverpool’s match against Atalanta went so badly.

"It's what they always do," says Fabrizio Romano, explaining why Klopp and Liverpool's match against Atalanta went so badly.

After a well-earned 3-0 victory over Liverpool on Thursday, Atalanta left Anfield, causing the biggest shock of this season’s Europa League.

The Reds were one of the favourites to win the trophy this year, but if they want to keep their chances of winning the cup alive, they will need to mount a comeback on par with Barcelona’s.

During his post-match interviews, Jurgen Klopp publicly exposed his players’ shortcomings and gave credit to the Serie A squad for being the superior team, without offering any explanations for why his team lost.

Atalanta outclassed Liverpool.

There was also a noticeable air of astonishment surrounding the well-known ancient field. The crowd was in complete disbelief at what they were witnessing, but perhaps it is hurting a squad that hasn’t played all that poorly in 2023–2024.

As a cunning veteran of the pitch, Gian Piero Gasperini will have known precisely which formation to use against the Reds well in advance of the match.

"It's what they always do," says Fabrizio Romano, explaining why Klopp and Liverpool's match against Atalanta went so badly.

The Italian team was clearly advantaged by Klopp’s decision to rotate his players. Fabrizio Romano also thought that a reorganisation of the pack was essential.

He told CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing, “I don’t think Jurgen Klopp underestimated Gasperini, because he knows well that Gian Piero is an excellent coach.”

He simply rotated because it’s logical that you can’t play every three days with the same players.

Because Atalanta consistently plays aggressively and offensively in important European games, I anticipated an offensive display from them.

“They had a great night, and they love the 1 vs 1s all over the pitch. They had some problems recently in Serie A.”

There is no doubt that Klopp will go down in club history as one of the greatest managers to have ever sat in the Anfield dugout if he can inspire his players to deliver a performance on par with the comebacks from Dortmund and Barcelona.

His legend would still stand even if Liverpool were eliminated.

He will leave the club having defined an era during his nine years there, filled with humour, success, humanity, and the desire to be the greatest.

That’s what he should be remembered for above any outcome.
