Four goalkeepers are among Liverpool’s initial 28-man roster that will travel to the United States; the lack of one more goalkeeper may be related to a transfer.

The team has confirmed the 28 players who will travel to Pittsburgh on Tuesday from Merseyside; at least two more players, Diogo Jota and Alisson, are expected to join them in the United States.

With summer internationals Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz still on post-season holidays, many of those missing from the group were expected.

However, a couple notable absences from the team were Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns, both of whom were injured.

Goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek, who has practiced with the first team during preseason but was not there for the private match versus Preston, was another noteworthy absentee.

Caoimhin Kelleher, Harvey Davies, Vitezslav Jaros, and Marcelo Pitaluga are the first set of goalkeepers that Fabian Otte will teach while they are on tour.

Mrozek may have been left off the roster due to an injury, but it’s important to remember that Liverpool has already received interest in the 20-year-old from several teams this summer.

According to Polish newspaper Meczyki, a loan offer from Portuguese team Vitoria SC was turned down in June because they wanted an option to purchase.

It’s also rumoured that Mrozek’s native Poland’s FKS Stal Mielec and MKS Cracovia, who play in the Ekstraklasa, might be open to a straight loan.

This summer, Liverpool will consider a temporary transfer for several of its young goalkeepers. Jaros is expected to remain the third choice in the starting lineup, while Mrozek, Pitaluga, and Davies are unlikely to play minutes together for the U21 team.

Kornel Miscuir, 17, is a teenager of Polish and English ancestry, and the club has high expectations for him. There’s even a chance the teenager advances through the ranks.

Letting Mrozek go would create room in the roster and give the young goalie a chance to play with the first team.

Pitaluga (St Patrick’s Athletic), Davies (Crewe), Jakub Ojrzynski (Den Bosch), Luke Hewitson (Stalybridge Celtic), Reece Trueman (Colwyn Bay), and Jaros (Sturm Graz) were among the players that left on loan to acquire experience during the previous season.

Ojrzynski is presently on trial with GKS Katowice, a Polish team competing in the Ekstraklasa, though a transfer has not yet been confirmed.
