Liverpool is getting ready to spend £26 million on a "phenomenal" player next week.
Manu Kone, a French youngster who plays midfield for Borussia Monchengladbach, is reportedly a long-term target for Liverpool, and the Reds are reportedly preparing their move to sign him.

The Merseyside giants plan to sign the 22-year-old talent this summer, according to Ouest-France. A bid is now anticipated to be made next week as Liverpool looks to continue their hiring drive after reaching an agreement to sign Dominik Szoboszlai.

Kone is regarded as one of the best midfield prospects in the Bundesliga and has been praised as a “phenomenal” player by former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. And this most recent development appears to suggest that Liverpool is now prepared to make their initial offer for the Gladbach youngster.

Liverpool is getting ready to spend £26 million on a "phenomenal" player next week.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, the German team is only asking for €30 million (£26 million) for Kone this summer, a transfer fee that Liverpool will find to be very reasonable given the significant sums the Reds have already invested in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

In fact, if Liverpool does make a move to sign the Gladbach youngster, Kone will be a huge asset to the team at Anfield. Furthermore, the transfer might mark the conclusion of Jurgen Klopp’s massive summer effort to revamp the Reds’ midfield options.

It’s intriguing that Liverpool decided to pursue Kone over other targets.

Kone has been covered by the Liverpool media for what seems like ages. Although there appears to be legitimate interest in the midfielder, few fans would have foreseen that the Gladbach player would be the target for which the Reds make a specific move this summer.

As is well known, recent weeks have seen strong rumors of transfers to Liverpool involving players like Khephren Thuram and Ryan Gravenberch. The Anfield side’s decision to sign Kone is an intriguing one based on what is available in the market, especially given their physical stature and distinguished reputations abroad.

This summer, Liverpool might try to sign Chelsea center-back Levi Colwill.

Colwill has been associated with the Reds since the middle of the previous campaign. The 20-year-old will not, however, be sold, according to Chelsea. And the Evening Standard has reiterated that position once again today.

Colwill’s most likely final destination, should he decide to leave Stamford Bridge, is currently thought to be Brighton. The Standard asserts that any attempt to include Colwill in that deal will be rejected because the two clubs are scheduled to meet in the coming days to discuss Moises Caicedo.

Contrary bidders may not yet be deterred despite this steadfast and transparent stance. Two candidates who could still make an offer for the England U-21 international are Liverpool and Manchester City.

The events of the upcoming days may determine whether they do or not. Colwill is reportedly waiting to speak with new manager Mauricio Pochettino before accepting a contract offer from Chelsea, despite having one on the table.

The young defender reportedly wants assurance regarding playing time as Pochettino is scheduled to begin his job on Monday.
If everything goes as planned, he appears to agree.
If not, perhaps Liverpool will notice a chance.

Colwill is waiting for crucial discussions.

This summer, Liverpool might try to sign Chelsea center-back Levi Colwill. Colwill has been associated with the Reds since the middle of the previous campaign.
There seems to be quite the rush to secure Colwill if he does become actively available during this window.

His two seasons playing on loan have been excellent. Lewis O’Brien praised him as “fantastic” during his time at Huddersfield in 2021/22 after he displayed his talent with Brighton in the Premier League the previous season [Yorkshire Live].

Another admirer of Colwill is Jordan Henderson, who spoke highly of him while Colwill was in a recent England training camp.

However, if the youngster is looking for playing time, Liverpool is not the place for him right now. The Reds are undoubtedly looking for a left-footed center back in Colwill’s mold, but that would be a more long-term solution.

Ibrahima Konate is currently his obvious partner because Virgil van Dijk isn’t leaving just yet.

They will have to accept that if any left-sided defender does move to Anfield this summer.

We don’t see how Colwill’s concerns about joining the Reds would be allayed after hearing the specifics of his Chelsea situation. We wouldn’t mind seeing it happen, but let’s wait to get excited until after the outcome of his discussions with Poch.
