Liverpool issues a statement criticizing VAR shortcomings and outlining their demands, after Tottenham game

Following 24 hours of controversy and PGMOL’s admission that “human errors” were to blame for the VAR failures against Spurs, Liverpool issued the statement on Sunday evening.
Liverpool has deemed the justification for the erroneous decision to overturn Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham Hotspur as “unacceptable,” and they think the incident compromised sporting integrity.
The unusual action taken by the Reds to address the ongoing controversy surrounding their 2-1 Premier League loss to the Londoners on Saturday night was the release of a statement.
Diaz’s goal was incorrectly disallowed for offside in the first half with the score still 0-0, according to PGMOL, who confirmed the incident after the game.
This mistake was made by VAR Darren England and his assistant Dan Cook.
After the game, according to the ECHO, PGMOL chief Howard Webb apologized to Liverpool b for the goal that had been incorrectly declared as scored.
A review of the incident is currently underway.
The Reds, however, believe that the situation was one in which the rules of the game were not followed and the right result was obtained as a result of a VAR protocol failure, even though they acknowledge that the circumstances are completely unprecedented.
Liverpool Football Club acknowledged PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night in a statement posted on their website on Sunday night.
It is obvious that the rules of the game were not correctly applied, which compromised the integrity of sport.
“We fully recognize the pressures that match officials face, but the presence and use of VAR should serve to lessen rather than increase these pressures.
“Therefore, it is unacceptable that no subsequent intervention was made and that adequate time was not provided to allow the right decision to be made.
“It is also unacceptable that such errors have already been labeled as “significant human error.”. Any and all conclusions should only be reached after a thorough review that is conducted in public.
This is crucial for the validity of decisions made in the future because it applies to all clubs and the lessons learned will be applied to better processes that will ensure situations like this won’t happen again.
Given the obvious need for escalation and resolution, we will investigate the range of options in the interim.
According to reports, Liverpool wants any review to focus on more than just the goal that was incorrectly declared as goal-scoring and to address more general concerns regarding the appointment of match officials as well as the process and implementation of VAR.
On Sunday, it was revealed that England and Cook had been a part of the team that officiated a match between Sharjah and Al Ain last Thursday in the United Arab Emirates.
England served as the VAR, and Cook served as the assistant referee.
Following their participation in the controversy at Tottenham, the two were removed from their remaining Premier League responsibilities over the weekend.

Liverpool and Chelsea intensify efforts to sign the 18-year-old defender.
According to reports, Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in signing the gifted young defender Patrick Dorgu
According to Fichajes, the Lecce defender has attracted the interest of Premier League clubs with his performances in the Italian league and could prove to be a sound, long-term investment for both clubs.
Marc Cucurella, a former defender for Brighton who cost Chelsea a lot of money, has fallen short of Chelsea’s expectations since arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea could definitely use more depth at left-back, as Ben Chilwell is currently the only dependable player on the team.
In the London club’s first team, Dorgu might compete with Chilwell as Chilwell’s backup.
Liverpool needs to find a good replacement for Andrew Robertson in the meantime.
Since joining the team from Hull City, the Scottish defender has excelled, but over the past 12 months, his performances have been patchy.
With Kostas Tsimikas’s lackluster performance, he could definitely use more opposition.
Both Premier League clubs would be making wise investments by signing Dorgu, but it is still unclear whether they will make a formal offer to do so.
Both teams appear to be working harder than ever to sign the 18-year-old, but it’s still unclear whether they can come to terms on a contract with Lecce.
The Italian team probably won’t be in a hurry to part with their prized prospect, but if a sizable offer is put forward, they might be persuaded
