Liverpool making progress on possible €60 million transfer deal; Virgil van Dijk replacement
Share
As they search for a replacement for Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool is reportedly making well in negotiations over a possible transfer move for Sporting Lisbon center-back Goncalo Inacio.
According to people close to the matter, Van Dijk’s future at Liverpool is not entirely guaranteed. As a result, the Reds have prioritised finding a replacement central defender this summer, even if they are also looking for a new midfield player.
Although Inacio has a €60 million release clause at Sporting, CaughtOffside is aware that the Portuguese powerhouses may be willing to make a concession on that amount given that Inacio is presently Liverpool’s first priority.
Although Manchester United and Arsenal have long been interested in the Portugal international, who appears to be a gifted player, LFC is currently the overwhelming frontrunner to sign the 22-year-old.
Transferring Inacio: Liverpool is also considering other defensive alternatives
But Liverpool is not limited to Inacio; in the event that the deal falls through, the Merseyside giants are prepared to consider other options.
Liverpool also likes Willian Pacho of Eintracht Frankfurt, Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace, and Jean-Clair Todibo, defender for Nice.
Though for the time being it appears that Inacio is the major emphasis and that the purchase is progressing as planned, it is unclear which name will ultimately prove to be the most practical for Liverpool.
Quinten Timber of Feyenoord, his previous club, is a midfield player that Liverpool’s new manager Arne Slot admires. Teun Koopmeiners of Atalanta is another player that the Premier League team may want to keep an eye on, even though Juventus has long seemed to be the favourite for the Netherlands international.
Liverpool had also been considering Youssouf Fofana, but negotiations fell through, and he is currently travelling to AC Milan.
