Liverpool may have another deal hijacked as Man Utd and Chelsea ‘put in phone calls’

Liverpool’s transfer plans for Man Utd and Chelsea could be scuttled, according to reports.
Liverpool could expect a second transfer deal to be hijacked soon. Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen his midfield this summer but the Reds now face serious competition for targets Gabri Veiga and Nicolo Barella.
Reports from Spain suggest that Liverpool are no longer favorites to sign Celta Vigo’s famous star Veiga. Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly tasked Chelsea with covering Liverpool’s transfer for the Spaniard.
Veiga has a £34m release clause and would be a great signing for Liverpool. The 21-year-old scored 11 goals in a fantastic breakthrough season in La Liga
However, the Anfield side now appear to be missing another goal in midfield after Chelsea ran ahead in the battle for Veiga. That’s because they could now lose out on a deal for Inter Milan ace Barella if their rivals pique their interest.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United and Chelsea have both called Inter Milan over the Italian star.
They would be far more attractive destinations than fellow Newcastle pretenders due to their rich history. The report adds that Liverpool remain favorites to sign Barella. The 26-year-old would seem keen to work under Klopp, whom he has great admiration for.
Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and are expected to sign at least one more midfielder. Defensive reinforcements could also be brought in.
Klopp has insisted he wants to complete the bulk of Liverpool’s transfer deal by July 6, at the start of pre-season. The Reds have generally made all their signings in mid-July during Germany’s spell in charge.
“The better players you want, the less desire the other club has to let them go. And that’s exactly what we’re prepared for,” Klopp said on 28 May.
“But it’s a long haul and a long pre-season and a long break in between, so we have time whether we sign players tomorrow or in six or seven weeks. Not a game changer for me, to be honest.
“In an ideal world, they all sign tomorrow and I can tell them when they’re due and we can give them summer vacation plans, but that probably won’t happen.”

Jamie Carragher makes a bold prediction about what will soon “the norm” at Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold performed admirably for England in the midfield as they defeated Malta.
Trent Alexander-Arnold should play in midfield for Liverpool in the future, according to Jamie Carragher.
For the vast majority of his Reds career, the 24-year-old has played right back, contributing to the team’s six major championships.
Alexander-Arnold’s performances were revived, though, when Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp switched him to a hybrid full-back/midfield position after his form dipped last season.
In light of the substitution, England’s engine room starter for their Euro 2024 qualifying match against Malta on Friday night was a Reds academy graduate. He excelled in the position and scored the Three Lions’ second goal in the 4-0 victory with a fantastic 25-yard effort.
Since Alexander-Arnold played there while progressing through Anfield’s youth ranks, there has been long-standing demand for him to be moved there. And if that were the case, Alexander-Arnold, according to Kop legend Carragher, could score and assist on double digits.
This TAA midfield role will eventually become the standard for club and nation, he tweeted.
He is a prolific creator from fullback and will also be in central midfield, but the goal he just scored will occur much more frequently there. Playing more forward would allow him to reach double digits in goals and assists. “.
Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, commented on Alexander-Arnold’s performance, saying: “The fact that he’s been playing partly in there with the ball, albeit a bit deeper, I think has helped his transition tonight.
“What was pleasing tonight is that he’s getting used to receiving in confined spaces with his back to goal and players behind him.
While he was perfectly at ease receiving on the sidelines with the play in front of him as is customary for him.
“Look, I have no doubts that he can handle it.
Without the ball, his experience in the role will be very different, and he is simply learning some of its nuances. ”.
