Jurgen Klopp is pleased with Liverpool’s efforts in Austria after goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah gave his team victory over LASK in the Europa League

Liverpool got off to a winning start to their Europa League season by beating LASK on Thursday evening.

The Reds were not at their best in Austria, but goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah helped Jurgen Klopp’s team to a 3-1 victory.
Liverpool fell behind for the fourth time in five games when Florian Flecker scored into the bottom corner, but the Reds improved after the break.

Nunez scored from the spot to make it 1-1 after Diaz was brought down and the Colombian winger gave Liverpool the lead after a low cross from Ryan Gravenberch. Salah then came off the bench to score a third and make the match secure

Gravenberch injury not serious

Gravenberch made his first Liverpool start since his £34 million move from Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day.
He made a good impression by going up and down the pitch and recording his first assist.

But it looked like his full debut may have been ruined when he went down in the second half after a strong run forward.
Salah was called from the bench as Gravenberch cautiously walked away

Luckily Klopp confirmed that it was nothing serious for the 21-year-old midfielder.
He told TNT Sports after the match that the Dutchman was suffering from cramps after a long period without regular playing time.
“He told me he had a cramp and that makes sense,” he said.
“I think it was his first start in a long time.”

While LASK struggled to stop Gravenberch fairly, he drew a lot of fouls and made a few errant passes before perfectly positioning Daz with a low cross.

In a two-on-one situation, he brought the ball forward and had the opportunity to score another goal, but he blundered. 15 minutes before the end, went down and hobbled away.

Ben Doak(off 61′) 5/10.

In the first period, Doak had one or two shining moments, but overall, the teen’s debut was disappointing.

Darwin Nez: 7/10.

In the first half, Nez missed headers from crosses from Elliott and was heroically saved by Lawal at close range after Van Dijk headed back across from a corner.
He confidently put his penalty into the side netting, and then his square pass led to Salah’s goal.

Luis Dáz: 7/10.

After a last-second challenge from Zeireis, Daz earned the penalty, converted the easy finish from Gravenberch’s cross, and made a strong defensive effort.
