Liverpool is preparing for January, but a Premier League competitor has thrown a wrench in the gears, and Mohamed Salah’s future has once again become a focal point.

Liverpool, who currently sit second in the Premier League, has enjoyed their international break, but the hard work of this season is far from over.

The Reds moved up to the top of the standings with a convincing 3-0 victory over Brentford at Anfield. This Saturday, they take on Manchester City, the only team standing above them. Three points would be a huge lift for Jurgen Klopp’s team, as they are no strangers to competing with City for titles. However, Liverpool has obstacles off the pitch as well in their quest to reclaim their position as the best team in the world.

Reds ‘know’ Salah’s departure date

Earlier this month, Fulham CEO Alistair Mackintosh travelled to Brazil for in-person negotiations regarding the signing of Andre, a target for Liverpool. The Evening Standard reports that Fulham is reportedly considering a deal for the £30 million midfielder, who is also rumoured to be connected to Manchester United.

Andre might be a part of Fulham’s big January recruitment push as the Cottagers try to re-appoint manager Marco Silva. Liverpool faced an even greater challenge to sign the Brazil international when head coach Mackintosh witnessed Andre shine in the Copa Libertadores final, which Fluminense won 2-1.

John Barnes asserts that Liverpool is aware of Mohamed Salah’s departure date and that Reds supporters shouldn’t be concerned about interest from Saudi Arabian teams. Barnes anticipates that Salah, 31, who signed a new long-term contract in July 2022, won’t be cutting that deal short.

The former Anfield player stated, “He’s said he wants to stay at Liverpool for the remainder of his contract,” during a Quality Street sustainability campaign. “We don’t know when, but I’m confident Saudi Arabia will have the opportunity. For the next two years, that is where I expect him to stay at Liverpool; if it changes, then it does.”

Klopp’s No.2 sets strict rule

At Liverpool’s training facility, Pep Lijnders, Jurgen Klopp’s assistant, has posted a banner urging the first-team players to maintain high standards. The Athletic claims that Lijnders has admonished everyone with a motivational note affixed to the boot room door.

It begins with: “Standards are set by the ones who need to live them.” The announcement follows the addition of Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool’s senior leadership group this summer, which already included Andy Robertson and Alisson.

Sane has been connected to a Premier League comeback with either Man City or Liverpool.

The German winger played for City for four years before moving to Bayern Munich in 2020.

Bayern wants to extend his deal, which is set to expire in 2025.

Leroy Sane, the winger for Bayern Munich, has stated that he is not considering his future, despite the German team’s efforts to talk to him about a new deal.

The 27-year-old’s contract is about to expire, and there are rumours circulating in Germany that Liverpool and Manchester City, Sane’s previous employer for four years prior to his transfer to Bayern, are both interested in a deal.

Sane recognised Bayern’s wish to talk about new terms while away on international duty, but he emphasised he wants to concentrate on the present campaign.

When asked about the uncertainty that surrounded him, Sane replied, “I haven’t given it [my future] any thought yet.”

“I want to concentrate on this season right now, but the club wants to have discussions. Without a doubt, FC Bayern is still my first point of contact.”

While his Munich home was being renovated, Sane stated earlier this year that his wife had returned temporarily to their old Manchester flat. However, he emphasised that the family would soon be residing in Germany once more.

Before moving to Munich, the winger had a great time playing for City, winning two Premier League championships between 2016 and 2020.

Before his tragic time in England came to an end, Sane achieved 39 goals and 46 assists in 135 games for City. The Germany international suffered a devastating knee injury that limited him to only 24 minutes of action during his final season with Pep Guardiola’s team.

After achieving a comparable result in his previous three seasons in Germany, Sane is currently having his greatest season to date. This season, he has already matched his career Bundesliga goal total with eight goals in just 11 games. He has also contributed six assists
