Liverpool ready to sign £125.8m star after £77.7m bid – According to journalist

Jurgen Klopp has primarily utilized a 4-3-3 formation at Liverpool, typically featuring two box-to-box midfielders and a play-breaker. In contrast, Arne Slot favors a 4-2-3-1 setup that includes a number ten.
He has started using Dominik Szoboszlai in this position early in the current season, but Liverpool lacks a natural creative central attacking midfielder.
As a result, the club is reportedly looking to acquire a new number ten, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz becoming a significant target. Liverpool showed interest in the German player, even making a £77.7m bid, but Wirtz opted to remain with the Bundesliga champions.
According to Christian Falk in The Daily Briefing, Wirtz has now indicated to Leverkusen that he intends to leave at the end of the season to advance his career. Leverkusen is open to his departure but demands a hefty £125.8m (€150m) fee, as he has three years remaining on his contract. Falk noted:
“He [Wirtz] has a contract now until 2027, so Leverkusen want a big fee for his services – €150m (£125.8m). That’s a lot and obviously not every club can afford to pay this.”
Falk also mentioned that Real Madrid is currently the frontrunner for Wirtz, with Bayern Munich and Manchester City also interested. He commented:
“But, of course, he also fits other clubs like Manchester City. Liverpool are also interested and we talked about Manchester United not being in the race at the moment.”
Wirtz is a versatile player, excelling as a natural No.10 but also capable of playing on the wing, contributing significantly to Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title win last season. Last week, the 21-year-old made his Champions League debut against Feyenoord, scoring twice in a 4-0 victory. Should Liverpool consider a substantial investment to sign Wirtz?

Liverpool set to finalize deal for £50 milliom star
Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s key right-winger for several years, but he is now in the final year of his contract and past his prime.
Consequently, Liverpool risks losing him for free next year. Should they fail to retain him, Arne Slot will need to find a replacement for the Egyptian in 2025.
Tony Cascarino, speaking with a fan on talkSPORT, suggested that Liverpool might look to sign Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as a potential successor to Salah. Cascarino highlighted several reasons why Mbeumo would be a fitting choice. He commented:
“I remember saying to you about if Mo Salah left, Mbeumo would be the one I would have gone after. He’s got so much about him, he’s got goals, he’s got durability. He’s just a nuisance every time he plays.”
Brentford initially sought £50m for Mbeumo, but with his contract nearing its final year next summer, they might reduce their asking price to over £40m if he does not agree to an extension in the upcoming months.
Mbeumo, who turned 25 last month, primarily plays as a right-winger but can also operate as a center-forward. He demonstrated his abilities in the Premier League last season with nine goals and six assists in 22 starts, and he has already netted three goals in four appearances this season. Given that his prime years are ahead of him, he could be a valuable acquisition for Liverpool.
