Liverpool set to seek final offer to sign £32m midfielder – report
Share
Liverpool celebrated their first win of the season by beating Bournemouth in the Premier League at Anfield.
The Reds have been brilliant up front but have again shown vulnerability defensively and need to sign another DM and defender before the summer transfer window closes.
The Merseysiders have been linked with Ivory Coast international Ibrahim Sangare for some time and the latest reports are intriguing.
Last week we covered a story from Rik Elfrink claiming Liverpool and Bayern are after the African star and need to activate the £32m (€37.5m) release clause to secure his signature.
Renowned journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that the German champions don’t want to use the services of PSV Eindhoven’s match agent. However, recent reports from Spain suggest that Bayern are pushing to land Sangare.
According to Fichajes, Bayern Munich are keen to sign the 25-year-old from the Eredivisie giants but Liverpool haven’t given up yet.
Liverpool are reportedly looking to make a final bid to hijack the deal and bolster the No.6 position for Jurgen Klopp.
So far this season, Sangare has made five appearances, scoring one goal, providing one assist and helping the team keep two clean sheets.
He was there for 90 minutes yesterday as PSV beat Vitesse 3-1 to go top of the table. Have your say: should Liverpool activate the £32m clause to sign Ibrahim Sangare?
More news……
Michael Owen claims Liverpool now has a player they weren’t particularly interested in purchasing.
Wataru Endo was “clearly” not the defensive midfielder Liverpool wanted to sign this summer.
The Reds announced the signing of the 30-year-old on Friday and made him his debut against Bournemouth yesterday. Generally he has done well because he has found himself in a difficult situation.
But according to former Reds forward Michael Owen, Endo wasn’t what Jurgen Klopp really wanted. Speaking to premierleague.com ahead of Saturday’s match, Owen said that while he liked the signing, he was something of a last resort for Liverpool. “It was obviously not their first choice, let’s get it right,” said the 43-year-old. “But I like the way Liverpool gave some clarity, they went and did it. The longer it went on without having that number 6, the more prices went up and all sorts. There’s much nervousness between the fans and the players
“Goal one, it didn’t happen, goal two, it didn’t happen. We basically learned the next day that medical treatment was underway, compensation had been agreed, and so on. So I think Liverpool should be commended for that. They’ve gotten a lot of flak in the last couple of weeks for not getting some buys over the limit.”
Liverpool bets on Endo
If things had gone to plan for Liverpool this summer, it’s hard to see why they would have bought Endo.
Prior to and throughout the period to date, dozens of midfielders have been appointed in relation to the Reds.
Not once did Endo ever cross his mind. He just wasn’t on the radar.
But for whatever reason, Liverpool found themselves in a position where they had no other choice.
The consequences will depend on how Endo behaves on the pitch for the Reds. As it stands, he is Liverpool’s only option to play in defensive midfield ahead of next week’s trip to Newcastle.
He’s going to have to start pretty quickly on the training ground this week.
Of course, just because a player isn’t first, second, or third choice doesn’t mean he’s doomed to fail. Liverpool’s recent history is full of near misses and good transfer market fortunes. Endo is now ours and we will support him to the end.

Liverpool are likely to still be on the hunt for more midfielders before the transfer window closes.
The Reds have managed to sign Wataru Endo from Stuttgart.
The Japan international’s move to Anfield was a relief for Liverpool after a difficult week.
Not only did Liverpool lose Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Saudi Pro League, but two of their top targets moved to Chelsea instead.
However, there is more disappointing midfield news regarding another top midfielder linked with the Reds. The player in question is Leeds United and United States star Tyler Adams, who was linked with Liverpool 90 minutes ago.
The 90Min report acknowledged Bournemouth were favorites to sign the American, and they are now close to a deal.
Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter Friday night to say “here we go” on Adams to the South Coast.
The “excellent” player would have passed a medical and signed a five-year contract.

Our point of view
In this case, Liverpool fans are unlikely to be too disappointed as the speculation seemed rather superficial. However, the Reds have lost an “incredible” player who was perfectly positioned for a big move, as he was relegated to Leeds.
Chelsea, in fact, tried to sign Adams, before pulling the plug and opting for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
That said, Liverpool have done it with the signing of Endo, and they will no doubt make further additions before the start of September.
