After Jurgen Klopp’s departure, Liverpool will likely see changes to their roster composition this summer.
In 2024–2025, Arne Slot will lead the Reds for the first time as head coach, and he will be eager to rely on the well-known Anfield fan favourites. Next season, players like Alisson, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk ought to be wearing red.
But in the summer transfer window, Liverpool supporters will be hoping to add a few players to their already impressive roster, and those outstanding young players who made an impression this season might receive a promotion in terms of shirt number.
These are Liverpool’s 2024/2025 squad numbers.

Liverpool has not yet formally announced their starting lineup for the 2024/2025 season, therefore changes may be made between now and the start of the league. Major player turnover is unlikely to occur, nevertheless, in terms of current club roster.
That being said, it’s possible that some of the team’s developing academy products sign new contracts. It might be time for an upgrade for players like Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, and Jarell Quansah.

For new signings, the Liverpool squad numbers are provided.
Although it is unlikely that Liverpool will be overly active in the transfer market before to Slot’s debut season, fresh players could still be added. It is highly likely that the Reds will add one or more new players before the transfer window closes.
Additionally, there are a tonne of numbers available to newcomers. Due to Thiago’s retirement and departure from Anfield, the number six spot is open and might be taken by a new defensive midfielder or centre defender.
All numbers in the range of 12 to 16, 22 to 25, and 27 to 37 are free. Joel Matip’s resignation creates a vacancy at number 32, and Adrian’s departure leaves the unlucky number 13 open.
Which numbers are permitted for Premier League players?
In Premier League games, players are technically allowed to wear any number between 1 and 99; however, in contrast to players in Turkey and Italy, first-team players typically choose the lowest number that corresponds to their position.
Of course, there are some exceptions. The number three shirt hasn’t belonged to a left back since Wataru Endo and Fabinho took it over, but Trent Alexander-Arnold still sports the number 66 jersey he wore when he initially joined the Liverpool first team.
Can players in the Premier League change their squad numbers?
Players in the Premier League are allowed to switch their squad numbers, but only during certain times of the year. Teams have to confirm their roster numbers at the start of the season, which is typically not long after the summer transfer window closes.
After then, players won’t be able to switch their numbers again until the end of the January transfer window, and even then, only if they plan to switch teams or receive a shirt from a player who has left their current team.
