Liverpool transfer boss Jörg Schmadtke could agree ideal swap deal with Fabio Carvalho

NOTE: Liverpool star Fabio Carvalho has been linked with RB
Leipzig.Liverpool are expected to use talks with RB Leipzig over a reported move by Fabio Carvalho to persuade the Bundesliga side to part ways with Josko Gvardiol. While Jurgen Klopp and new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke will focus on a midfield overhaul this summer, the Reds also need fresh faces in defence.
Gvardiol would be the perfect defensive asset for Liverpool. The Croatian can play as either a centre-back or left-back, adding versatility and the ability to play from behind with his left foot. Klopp currently has no left-handed centre-backs.
Liverpool have long been linked with the 21-year-old but will face stiff competition from several rivals in the Premier League and Champions League. Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to be interested in a deal for the Leipzig starlet.
A £97m release clause is believed to become active in the summer of 2024, but Liverpool are expected to spend big this summer to sign one of the most coveted young defenders in the world. And they could use discussions over a move signaled by midfielder Carvalho as the ideal moment to start negotiations.
Liverpool have rejected an initial offer from Leipzig for Carvalho, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Premier League side are not looking to lose the 20-year-old permanently, despite reports last week that the former Fulham prospect was not in Klopp’s plans.
Carvalho faces an uncertain future at Anfield after struggling to break into Klopp’s favorite club last season, even though many other midfielders’ form was poor. Liverpool parted ways with around £8m in compensation to sign the playmaker from Fulham last year but appear to be headed for an early exit.
The Portuguese U21 international, who has also represented England in other age groups, has been linked with both a permanent departure and a loan move. It seems that the German from Leipzig is very interested in an agreement.
It will be a busy summer transfer window for Klopp and Schmadtke, whose appointments were confirmed earlier this week. The German is a close friend of the Liverpool manager and replaces outgoing Julian Ward following his departure from Wolfsburg in February.
Liverpool should focus on signings in midfield this summer. Klopp’s midfield struggled with form and fitness last season, culminating in a disappointing fifth-place finish.
James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both gone, making way for new faces. Chelsea’s Mason Mount has been linked with a move to Anfield despite an alleged rivalry with Manchester United.
However, a transfer from Gvardiol – no matter how costly – would improve Liverpool’s defence. He would team up with former Leipzig defensive teammate Ibrahima Konate for a long-term partnership.

DEAL WITH £63K-A-WEEK STAR AT ANFIELD IS ‘COMPLETED’ BY LIVERPOOL
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who spoke exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian is expected to remain at Anfield for one additional year.
Although he has only appeared twice in the past two seasons, the uncapped Spanish international appears to have committed his near future to the Reds.
Caoimhin Kelleher is reportedly prepared to leave Liverpool in pursuit of consistent playing time, despite the fact that Liverpool do not want to lose him.
Adrian might be able to take advantage of this by playing more frequently in the future, especially in cup games.
Since transferring for free from West Ham United in 2019, Adrian has acted as Alisson Becker’s backup. Despite not playing as frequently as he would have liked, Adrian has won numerous awards, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
Adrian asserted on Twitter after Liverpool’s final game of the 2022–23 season against Southampton that “great lessons” had been learned and that they will soon be back to their best.
Adrian may have an opportunity to prove his value despite being the oldest player at the club after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised his third-choice goalie as “incredible.”
Adrian, according to Romano, will play for Liverpool for one more season, and a club announcement is just around the corner.
What part will Adrian play for Liverpool in the upcoming season?
Alisson, one of the few Liverpool players who can walk tall after a turbulent 2022–23 season, will undoubtedly continue to be Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice goalkeeper.
In contrast to Kelleher, who has appeared a total of seven times in both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup, Liverpool’s 36-year-old goalkeeper has played zero games in the Premier League this year.
The former West Ham player’s final match for the team was in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory against Manchester City in the Community Shield in July of last year, although he has since been left out of the lineup.
The Spaniard was the German tactician’s third choice during the previous campaign, but he will look to move up the list once Kelleher leaves.
If Kelleher does decide to leave for greener pastures, Liverpool will be compelled to sign a new backup goalkeeper to step in when necessary, therefore the upcoming season will likely be more of the same for the £63,000 per week earning.
