Arne Slot may be reunited with one of his Feyenoord stars in the transfer news involving Liverpool. There are rumours that the Reds are negotiating for a wonderkid from Brazil.

The countdown to Arne Slot’s first day as Liverpool’s manager begins now. He’ll get here right before the summer transfer window opens.

Undoubtedly, a few new players will accompany the Dutchman to Anfield as the Reds attempt to enhance their roster. Slot, along with Richard Hughes, will be looking to make a lasting impression on the team before taking over for the first time.

Many names are already being connected to moves to Liverpool. It should come as no surprise that many of the players listed have some connection to Slot.

This is Liverpool.com’s assessment of the transfer rumours circulating about the Reds today, which includes Slot’s possible comeback.

Justin Bijlow (Feyenoord)

The Dutch publication De Telegraaf claims that Justin Bijlow, the goalkeeper for Feyenoord, is being watched by Liverpool. The Reds may need a new goalkeeper this summer because Adrián appears likely to go when his contract expires and Caoimhín Kelleher has been linked to a possible move away to become a number one.

According to the Telegraaf, Bijlow and Arne Slot may reunite at Anfield, as Feyenoord is reportedly prepared to go with the 26-year-old for less than the $27 million (£21 million/€25 million) that was reportedly offered for Manchester United in the previous summer. In 24 games during the 2023–24 season, Bijlow gave up just 23 goals while maintaining nine clean sheets.

According to Liverpool.com, Liverpool is probably going to be searching for a new custodian this summer. Should Kelleher depart, the replacement should be someone who can serve as Alisson’s dependable back-up and who may eventually succeed him.

Bijlow seems like a reasonable choice, and Slot is certainly familiar with him. However, he has had injury problems this season, and Liverpool would want guarantees that those won’t happen again.

Matheus Reis (Fluminense)

Liverpool reportedly had a meeting with Matheus Reis’s representation, a Brazilian sensation, Jovenes Futbolistas, a Mexican source said. The 17-year-old, who is dual-national with Brazil and Mexico, has been selected on the bench multiple times this season and appears to be close to making his Fluminense debut.

While representing the Brazil U17s, Reis has already drawn attention, and Liverpool may not be the only team interested in him. Inquiries have been made by Manchester City, Chelsea, and Monaco, while negotiations have reportedly also taken place with Newcastle.

According to Liverpool.com, every summer, it seems like a fresh Brazilian wonderkid is being linked to a move to Liverpool. Usually, the links have no effect. Reis seems to be the centre of attention, thus it will be intriguing to watch what occurs with him.
