Liverpool Update: Mo Salah targeted by rival clubs following shocking transfer request
Share
Liverpool are preparing to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground following the international break. Even though the transfer window has closed, speculation about the futures of several Liverpool stars persists.
Liverpool’s return to action is imminent after the break. They will host Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday afternoon and are eager to maintain their perfect start under Arne Slot.
The Reds have won their first three games under the Dutch manager and could secure the Premier League top spot with a win. While the focus is on this weekend’s match, transfer rumors continue to circulate.
Recently, there has been considerable speculation about the futures of key players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Here are the latest notable updates from Anfield:
Salah Targeted Due to Contract Uncertainty
Liverpool might face losing Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested. El Nacional has reported that both clubs have made inquiries about him.
Additionally, Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad could renew their interest after having previous large offers rejected. Currently, Salah’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, and he has hinted that this could be his final year at Anfield. He is currently earning around £350,000 per week.
Kelleher’s hints at departure
Caoimhin Kelleher, Salah’s teammate, has expressed his wish to leave Liverpool to become a first-choice goalkeeper. “I made it clear in the last few years, I want to go be a No.1 and play week in, week out,” Kelleher told reporters. He noted that Liverpool’s decision to acquire another goalkeeper suggests a shift in direction.
Kelleher’s ambition has been consistent over recent seasons, though he acknowledges that not all decisions are within his control. If he stays, he may face additional competition as Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili has agreed to join Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold’s Potential Replacement
There is also speculation about right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially leaving Liverpool. However, the club may have already identified his ideal successor in Conor Bradley. Troy Deeney commented on talkSPORT, “The player will try to always look out for themselves, and the club will look out for themselves.
It’s just the nature of the beast.” He added that if Alexander-Arnold were to move to a club like Real Madrid, Liverpool might be prepared to transition by integrating Bradley. “There are so many different little nuances that happen every single day within football, and fans only see the end product,” Deeney observed.
