Giorgi Mamardashvili’s transfer to Liverpool is almost complete, although the player won’t be joining the team until 2025. It remains to be seen if they make a move to acquire the present squad during the upcoming four off days.
We reported on a story just yesterday that the Reds were considering a long-term successor for Andy Robertson in the form of Adrien Truffert. Could Michael Edwards and company now focus on a different left-back?
According to Fichajes, a Spanish source, Liverpool is currently looking to recruit Miguel Gutierrez, an outstanding left-back from Girona who, incidentally, won a Champions League medal with Real Madrid in 2021–2022. The Spaniard just competed for his country in the Olympics and took home the gold.
The 23-year-old, who earns £280,000 annually, showed promise during Michel’s final Girona season. Across all competitions, he contributed nine assists to the La Liga surprise packages.
Numerous clubs have expressed interest in him due to his performances, but Real Madrid still has a buy-back clause and 50% of his rights.
Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Borussia Dortmund are the five teams mentioned in the report as being interested in the young Spaniard. However, several of these clubs have been unable to make a transfer this summer due to salary limits and the need to cut squads.
Even if the Reds signed Gutierrez this summer, they’ll probably let him to remain in Spain, much like they did with Mamardashvili. Robbo is here to stay and has had a great start to the season. Kostas Tsimikas is a capable deputy for him.
Though Liverpool has never shied away from signing a player who is only partially formed and moulding them to fit their system, Gutierrez now appears to be the more complete option between Truffert and the other guy.
Whether the Reds take action to sign him this summer is still up in the air. If not, both athletes are intriguing prospects to watch in the upcoming years.

“Liverpool understood why we couldn’t accept their transfer bid for our $40 million player”
Andre Trindade was reportedly a target for Liverpool last summer, according to Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt, who has been talking up the Brazilian star.
Four new players joined Liverpool’s midfield lineup in the summer as part of an overhaul of that group. Prior to Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, there was Alexis Mac Allister.
However, there was another name that was frequently associated with a move: Andre Trindade. It still makes some stylistic sense a year later, in the midst of the hunt for a number six that ultimately produced Martin Zubimendi.
However, Andre’s Brazilian club Fluminense insisted that he stay until January at the latest. Andre was kept around for the FIFA Club World Cup, which Pep Guardiola’s team won 4-0 in December. He participated in that match. Despite the winter window, Andre stayed and is still under contract with the South American behemoth. Mario Bittencourt, the president of Fluminense, has now discussed the trade.
He claims that Liverpool made a bid for the midfield player, who was valued at $40 million (£30 million/€35 million), but the Reds comprehended his inability to let the 22-year-old go. Fulham has expressed interest in him as well.
According to him, “Liverpool understood our move and we knew that new offers would come in,” Flashscore reported. This time around, the player and his manager have been really open and honest with us.
We are aware that the player has the last say. We won’t oppose him if he wants to play overseas, and I’ve promised them that I’ll do everything in my power to fulfil this goal.”
According to Liverpool.com, Andre appears to be a player who may succeed in the Premier League, therefore it’s strange that no team has acquired him despite his frequent links to a move to England. It will be interesting to watch how he adjusts if he ever decides to switch.
