Liverpool’makes $27m transfer offer’ and gets unexpected answer as Arne Slot faces dilemma

Liverpool apparently failed in its attempts to hijack Juventus’ contract for Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio, as Arne Slot confronts a decision with his goalkeepers this summer.
Liverpool apparently failed in its attempts to hijack Juventus’ search for a new custodian, while the Reds remain confused about their own alternatives.
The Reds now have three senior goalkeeping options: Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Adrian. However, how many of those will still be with the club at the end of the summer is unknown.
Adrian has been given a new contract, but he has revealed he wants to return to Spain, citing contacts with his former club Real Betis. Kelleher, meantime, has hinted that he may depart this summer to take the number one slot somewhere else.
Even Alisson has been connected with a move to Saudi Arabia, which hopefully will turn out to be nothing more than speculation. Nonetheless, the Reds may be obliged to look for a new goalkeeper this summer.
According to reports from Italy, they have already attempted and failed to land one alternative. According to Tuttosport, Liverpool made a late bid to capture Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, but will most likely have to wait as he joins Juventus.
Liverpool reportedly made a $27 million (£21 million/€25 million) offer for Di Gregorio, but it was rejected since the 26-year-old had already decided to join Juventus. The Turin club is ready to complete a loan deal with the option to buy next summer, however the overall cost is still less than what Liverpool reportedly offered.
According to Liverpool.com, the extent to which this Italian information is accurate is questionable. $27 million is a lot to spend on a backup goalkeeper who will likely play only a few games per season.
It has been speculated that Di Gregorio may have eventually replaced Alisson as Liverpool’s first-choice, but if that’s the case, the team might as well keep Kelleher. In such instance, the Reds would at least know what to expect.
The speculation, however, suggests that Liverpool is aware that at least one of its goalkeepers will be leaving this summer, leaving Arne Slot and Richard Hughes with other responsibilities in the squad. Do they continue with the possibilities available at the club – Vitezslav Jaros is currently with the Czech Republic at Euro 2024 and may potentially make the step up to the senior Reds team next season – or do they go elsewhere for a solution?

Liverpool is looking to sign a dynamic 23-year-old who has already expressed his desire to transfer to Anfield.
Liverpool simply must strengthen this summer if they are to bridge the gap with their Premier League rivals.
Jurgen Klopp won an important top-four finish last season, but new faces are required to take the team to the next level.
Champions League football is also returning to Anfield, and new manager Arne Slot will need a strong and capable squad to compete.
He has plenty of solid choices, but the Reds aren’t the entire package right now.
Several areas require improvement, but a player connected with Liverpool may help fix more than one problem.
Liverpool has set its sights on Feyenoord ace Lutsharel Geertruida.
According to AD, Liverpool are looking to capture Feyenoord star Lutsharel Geertruida in the summer transfer season.
Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham are reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old ahead of the new season.
Geertruida, who has seven caps for the Netherlands, has made nearly 200 Feyenoord appearances.
This season, the player made 47 appearances, playing at right-back, centre-back, and left-back.
Lutsharel Geertruida may reunite with Arne Slot.
Slot, who has just recently left Feyenoord, certainly knows the defence well, and a reunion is already being discussed.
Geertruida is highly interested in working with Slot at Anfield, but whether the powers that be on Merseyside would approve the move remains to be seen.
He would surely improve the existing squad, with the Dutch international capable of playing in defensive midfield.
That adaptability might help fill a void at Anfield, as current defensive midfielder Wataru Endo could leave after just one season.
Furthermore, the Feyenoord player has extensive big-game experience, having faced Atletico Madrid, Lazio, and Celtic in this season’s Champions League.
