Former Liverpool star Luis Díaz continues to make headlines in Germany after delivering yet another moment of brilliance for Bayern Munich on Saturday — a strike that not only stunned Union Berlin but also highlighted just how far ahead he now stands compared to his former teammates at Anfield.
In a breathtaking display of skill and control, Díaz somehow managed to keep Josip Stanišić’s pass in play with a sliding effort, flicked the ball deftly past Janik Haberer, and smashed it home from an almost impossible angle. The game ended in a 2–2 draw, halting Bayern’s winning streak, but Díaz’s individual brilliance stole the spotlight.
Since making the switch to Bayern Munich, the Colombian winger has been in electrifying form — racking up 10 goals and 5 assists in just 16 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s current attacking options have struggled to find similar consistency.
- Alexander Isak, signed for a British record £125 million ($165m), has just one goal and one assist to his name.
- Florian Wirtz, who arrived for £116 million ($153m), is yet to score, contributing only two assists.
- Hugo Ekitike has managed five goals and one assist, while Mohamed Salah has four goals and three assists so far this season.
- Cody Gakpo stands at three goals and two assists, and Federico Chiesa has chipped in with two goals and three assists.
- Promising youngster Rio Ngumoha recently netted his first-ever Premier League goal.

Despite Liverpool’s array of attacking talent, none can currently match Díaz’s productivity. His record — a goal every 124.3 minutes — surpasses all Liverpool forwards, with Chiesa’s 168.5 minutes per goal coming closest.
Last season, Díaz was instrumental in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, scoring 13 goals in the Premier League before making a £65 million ($86m) move to Bayern in the summer.
In contrast, Arne Slot’s Liverpool have struggled for consistency without him, sitting fifth in the Premier League. Bayern, on the other hand, remain top of the Bundesliga, even after their 16-game winning run came to an end.
Now leading the charge alongside Harry Kane and Michael Olise, Luis Díaz is proving week after week that his move to Munich has elevated him to another level — and that Liverpool’s loss has undoubtedly become Bayern’s gain.
