Marc Guehi has previously expressed his emotions about Liverpool, as the Reds boost up $84 million transfer interest.

Liverpool is allegedly interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. The England international, who starred at Euro 2024, has previously praised the club.
Liverpool is allegedly looking for a centre back this summer. While it might be argued that the Reds still have four senior options following Joel Matip’s departure, one (Jarell Quansah) is still in the early stages of his career, and another (Joe Gomez) spent more time in different positions last season.
There has been rumours of interest in Leny Yoro and Riccardo Calafiori, albeit they may move to Real Madrid and Arsenal, respectively. However, this type of rumour and counter-rumor is common throughout the silly season known as the summer transfer window.
Another player of interest is reportedly Marc Guehi, who has been linked to the Reds since before this summer. He was perhaps England’s best player in Euro 2024, if that isn’t damning a man with faint praise. The Crystal Palace defender has already spoken positively of Liverpool, implying that he would consider transferring his career to Anfield.
Guehi has faced the Reds five times, losing three and drawing two. He did not play as Palace triumphed 1-0 against Liverpool in April.
However, when speaking with Palace TV ahead of a previous match against the Reds, he made it plain how much he respects the club. “I don’t think there’s any good time to play Liverpool, really,” Guehi stated (via Sport Bible).
“Everyone knows how strong they are as a team, they’ve got some fantastic players, obviously off the back of a good season they had as well so it’s going to be a tough game,” he told reporters. “We expect that and hopefully we can go and put in a good performance.”
The 24-year-old has two years left on his current contract, making this the final summer in which Palace can try to sell him for a big profit. When asked about the approach at Arne Slot’s first press conference, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes mentioned being ‘opportunistic’ in terms of transfers, and a move for the England international would most likely suit that description.
It remains to be seen whether the Reds would be able to persuade the Eagles to release Guehi. Given how enthusiastically he raved about Liverpool, the youngster appears to be interested in joining the club.
According to Liverpool.com, persuading players to join Liverpool when Jürgen Klopp was in charge seemed simple. It will take time for Slot to gain the same level of respect as his predecessor, but targeting players who have already been won over by the Reds would be a sound strategy.
