News from Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp talks about Mo Salah's situation as the reds "real talent" emerges

After defeating LASK at home to take top spot in their Europa League group, Liverpool has switched their focus to Sunday’s Premier League match against Fulham.

After his Liverpool squad defeated LASK at Anfield on Thursday night, earning themselves a little respite, Jurgen Klopp will be happy.

A 4-0 triumph was secured by two goals from Cody Gakpo and one each from Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, albeit the Austrian visitors did not exactly lack opportunities. With this win and Toulose’s basket against Union SG at home, Klopp’s squad will undoubtedly lead their group, no matter what happens when they play Union in gameweek six.

Prior to their Sunday home match against Fulham, the Reds will have time to celebrate their triumph from Thursday night. The most recent lines from surrounding Anfield are shown here.

Endo “will be disappointed”

News from Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp talks about Mo Salah's situation as the reds "real talent" emerges

Wataru Endo, a recent arrival who “will be disappointed” that he hasn’t yet forced his way into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI, according to former Liverpool striker Michael Owen.

Endo joined in the summer from Stuttgart in a £16.2m deal, but his play has mostly been restricted to the Carabao Cup and Europa League. In an attempt to permanently replace Alexis Mac Allister in the defensive midfield position, he was given his fifth start in five games in Europe against LASK. However, Owen believes Endo might be resentful that he hasn’t been used more frequently.

“I think he’s going to feel a little let down right now. Other than him, there isn’t really a natural sitting central midfielder in that Liverpool team. However, Mac Allister is being moved into that position during crucial games, so I imagine he’s a little let down that he hasn’t established himself in that role.”

Klopp addresses Salah issue

For the first time in his Reds career, Mo Salah led Liverpool at Anfield, and the Egyptian scored to commemorate the moment he had been waiting for so long.

Although Salah had previously received the armband, he had never abandoned his team when playing at home. In fact, he was displeased with having been passed over in favour of Trent Alexander-Arnold back in 2020.

However, this time, Jurgen Klopp finally addressed the issue that left his striker “disappointed” three years ago, starting Salah, with Alexander-Arnold and regular captain Virgil van Dijk on the bench.

Klopp praises the “real talent”

Under Klopp’s leadership, Liverpool supporters have seen a number of the team’s academy players play, and one more may be ready to break into the starting lineup.

Along with fellow rookie Luke Chambers, Conor Bradley made his first appearance for the Reds since January 2022 by coming off the bench. Bradley made an impression while on loan at Bolton last season, and many predict he will play a significant role for Liverpool going forward.
