News on injuries and comeback dates for Liverpool as nine Players under Jürgen Klopp may miss the Arsenal match

Due to injury and international commitment, Liverpool is now without a number of its players, but Diogo Jota and Alexis Mac Allister have at least returned to the mix.

Liverpool FC started 2024 off on a high note, defeating Newcastle United 4-2 at Anfield to take a commanding lead of three points in the Premier League. But there may have been a high cost associated with this success.

The manager of Liverpool, Jürgen Klopp, disclosed that midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai had been injured after the game. “We wanted to take him off,” said Klopp. Although it was the plan, he felt his hamstring in the previous scenario, therefore he was running a minute behind schedule. Of course, we don’t yet know the full depth of it. We must bide our time.”

The timing of this news couldn’t be worse for Liverpool, who are already dealing with injuries to Stefan Bajčetić and Thiago Alcântara. To make matters worse, Wataru Endō, who is captain of Japan, has committed to playing in the Asian Cup, meaning he will miss multiple games. The team has also said goodbye to Mohamed Salah, their top scorer, who left for Egypt to play in the Africa Cup of Nations after scoring twice in the club’s triumph over Newcastle.

Even with these losses, there was a ray of light during the Newcastle game when recently fit Alexis Mac Allister came off the bench and found Diogo Jota with a fantastic pass. Jota and Mac Allister may start for Liverpool against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round, marking their first debuts since returning from injuries.

But in addition to Salah and Endō, Liverpool might be without seven additional players. Due to his hamstring injury, Szoboszlai’s return timeline is still unknown, but he has had a scan. After missing action since October because of a dislocated shoulder sustained while on Scotland’s international squad, Andy Robertson is expected to make a comeback this month. The return date for Kostas Tsimikas, who suffered a collarbone fracture during the match against Arsenal last minute

Wataru Endo accomplished a feat not witnessed at Liverpool in eighteen years in their victory over Burnley

On Boxing Day, Wataru Endo made history by starting for Liverpool against Burnley, a feat not witnessed at the club in eighteen years. All of Jurgen Klopp’s faith lies in the Japanese international.

Wataru Endo got the start for Liverpool against Burnley in their Premier League match on Boxing Day. He achieved something by doing so that the Reds had not seen in 18 years.

Liverpool hasn’t played a game in thirteen days, as Michael Reid noted on Twitter. Since January 2006, no player has been able to replicate Endo’s feat of having started every single one.

Rotation was less popular back then than it is today. Consequently, a number of players—Steven Finnan, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia, Steven Gerrard, Harry Kewell, and Peter Crouch—started five games in a span of thirteen days.

But since managers started to limit the amount of games players started, nobody has done it. Endo was unusual back then, and he didn’t really need to start the game.

Endo’s time at Liverpool got off to a rough start. In fact, he seemed out of his element in some of his early games, which were just plain awful.

But because Jurgen Klopp persisted in starting him, the holding midfielder is currently the most reliable member of the starting lineup. Naturally, part of that is that, with Stefan Bajcetic and Alexis Mac Allister still sidelined due to injuries, Endo is the only holding midfielder on the team.

However, it also demonstrates how much Klopp believes in the player. Endo was genuinely one yellow card away from punishment going into the Burnley match. The manager played him for the entire ninety minutes, not only when he got off to a good start.

He also never did pick up the yellow, and on New Year’s Day, he’ll be available to play against Newcastle United. Given the current course of events, it is reasonable to anticipate that he will lead
