Before the FA Cup quarterfinal match at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, two analysts have offered their predictions.
Liverpool’s short return to Wembley is expected to happen before of their FA Cup quarterfinal matchup with Manchester United this coming weekend.
In their quest for additional hardware during Jurgen Klopp’s final season as manager, the Reds go to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Their goal is to advance to the competition’s semifinal.
This game represents the most recent installment of one of England’s most intense rivalries. It happens just a few weeks before the two sides square off in the Premier League once more in what may turn out to be a pivotal matchup in the chase for the championship and the top four.
However, with the FA Cup champions just one step away from the competition’s championship, all eyes are on FA Cup affairs. Wembley Stadium will host the semi-final as well.
Chris Sutton, a former Premier League striker, shared his opinions ahead of the sides’ most recent clash. Following a 0-0 Premier League match in December, he is betting on Liverpool to defeat their opponents this time.
My friend informed me that he believed Manchester United will prevail in this match. He told BBC Sport, “I told him not to be so stupid.”
“United has persevered and achieved some impressive outcomes against Liverpool in recent times. For instance, they defeated them 2-1 at Old Trafford at the beginning of the previous season, even though I didn’t think they would win that day either. Given that United had what felt like 2% possession in that 0-0 tie at Anfield earlier this season, I know that supporters of the team may also be feeling enthusiastic.
“Yet Liverpool is making significant progress towards returning to full fitness, and if they show up and play like they did against Manchester City last weekend in the second half, they will win, without a doubt. Rasmus Hojlund, United’s striker, is expected to return from injury and start the game, which is fantastic news for the team.
“That is huge for them and increases their chances of passing significantly, but Liverpool will still be too strong for them if they play to anywhere close to their potential.”
The prediction made by Chris Sutton is Manchester United 1-3 Liverpool.
Paul Merson, another pundit, concurs with Sutton. The former Arsenal player has identified three individuals who Liverpool may need to have on a big game.
“You need to exercise patience this weekend if you’re a Manchester United supporter. Erik ten Hag is highly likely to put ten players behind the ball when playing Liverpool at home, which kind of illustrates how far the Red Devils have fallen recently. It won’t be fun for them to watch, he told SportsKeeda.
“Wataru Endo is a player who has truly impressed me; what a great addition he has been! It is uncommon for Klopp to make a mistake in a move; over the years, I can’t remember glancing at one of their purchases and thinking, “Damn, he was a major waste of money.” This is a huge compliment to all the people that work behind the scenes.
“People like Conor Bradley and Jarrell Quansah have also been in a completely other class. Because Liverpool has excellent professionals on staff, it’s a fantastic place for these young players to join the team and develop.
