Great disappointment for Chelsea as ace is sidelined until December.

Romeo Lavia’s recovery from injury, or lack thereof, has been updated by Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Romeo Lavia’s transition to life at Stamford Bridge has been a complete nightmare.
To beat Liverpool to the Southampton star’s signature, the Blues forked over a whopping €62 million.

In fact, the Belgian preferred a move to London despite the Reds being long considered the favorites to sign the former Man City youth product.

Given that the Blues had already signed Moises Caicedo and Lesley Ugochukwu in record deals, along with Andrey Santos earlier in the year, it was a decision that caused some controversy.

Whether or not Chelsea actually needs Lavia, the fact remains that the youngster has yet to make an appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’s team, first due to a lack of preseason preparation, and most recently due to an ankle injury.

Lavia Injury updates

Prior to his team’s match against Burnley, Pochettino was questioned about the condition of the 19-year-old, and the Argentine had to deliver the bad news.
The manager declined to say when Chelsea supporters would get to see him, saying, “I’m not sure he will be back after the international break. He is not even running”

Regarding other injury concerns, he did provide some encouraging news.
Despite their injuries suffered on Monday against Fulham, Mykhailo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo won’t have to miss the Burnley game.

Yes, both players are in the squad, according to Pochettino.
We will decide if they have a chance to start later. Reece James, the team’s captain, has returned and has been practicing with the group, according to Pochettino.

He continued, “We are really pleased with the way he is recovering.
“We hope that after his suspension, he will still have a chance to participate.

Great disappointment for Chelsea as ace is sidelined until December.

Chelsea hasn’t really had much to shout about in the 2023–24 Premier League season so far, with the exception of a solid performance at Fulham.

In order to give Mauricio Pochettino’s “project” the best chance of succeeding before Todd Boehly, who is prone to making snap decisions, decides to yank the plug and look elsewhere, the Blues have had to take drastic measures.

The club is arguably not where the Chelsea manager would have expected it to be, sitting in 11th place with only two wins in seven games, but if the Argentinian is given time, his record suggests that he can and most likely will produce success.

He really needs to, given that he’s already spent £115 million on Moises Caicedo alone, according to The Guardian (subscription required).

Chelsea’s early development under Pochettino has been hampered by injuries, so the news that Ben Chilwell has now been ruled out until at least December isn’t one he will have wanted to hear.

Chilwell will be fighting to make it to the holiday games because, according to The Daily Mail, his hamstring injury will keep him out for eight weeks.

Naturally, this is assuming that the left-back’s recovery process goes without any obstacles.

At least Marc Cucurella is available for Pochettino to use, who might have been playing for Man United in another set of circumstances
