Prediction, team information, and lineups for Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool in advance

The key matchup on Saturday night in North London will feature Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, who will both be looking to extend their winning streaks in the Premier League.

The Reds most recently defeated Leicester City 3-1 in the EFL Cup, while the Lilywhites most recently drew 2-2 with bitter rivals Arsenal last weekend.

Ange Postecoglou left enemy territory having led Tottenham to a hard-earned point against Arsenal, who twice took the lead through a Cristian Romero own goal and a Bukayo Saka penalty.

This is a feat that none of Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho, or Nuno Espirito Santo managed during their disastrous tenures as Tottenham’s head coach.

Romero’s second-half foul also gave Arsenal the early second-half penalty, which Saka converted, but Son Heung-min’s brace and two assists from James Maddison ended Spurs’ three-game losing streak at the Emirates and spared Romero’s blushes on both occasions.

Few would contest that Postecoglou’s team deserved at least a share of the spoils in a typically chaotic derby, one in which they also maintained their hot streak of scoring at least twice in every Premier League game under Postecoglou.

There was undoubtedly some luck involved in Tottenham’s draw, as a daydreaming Jorginho was robbed of the ball by Maddison for Son’s second goal.

Since Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion both won last weekend, Spurs have dropped from second to fourth in the standings.
Only three other Premier League managers—Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola, and Craig Shakespeare—had seen their team score twice in their first six games in charge.

Tottenham did not have to worry about EFL Cup matters over the past few days because of their penalty-shootout defeat at Fulham, but conceding five goals in their last three games won’t help them much against an in-form Liverpool team.

The Reds gave their supporters an early sense of doom and gloom before turning the tide in their favor and winning 3-1 for the fourth game in a row when Leicester came to Anfield on Wednesday for the third round of the EFL Cup in classic 2023-24 Liverpool fashion.

Kostas Tsimikas was left in a heap with three minutes left, but the Foxes were allowed to charge forward and got on the board first through Kasey McAteer, and they miraculously made it into halftime with a one-goal advantage.

Cody Gakpo’s low shot, Dominik Szoboszlai’s thunderbolt, and a fancy Diogo Jota finish, however, sealed yet another come-from-behind victory for Liverpool, who have also defeated LASK Linz and Wolverhampton Wanderers in similar circumstances since the international break, in addition to coming out on top by the same scoreline in last weekend’s Premier League matchup with West Ham United.

Jurgen Klopp’s team travels south with an eight-game unbeaten streak to defend in Premier League away games, as well as a 19-game streak without defeat overall.

Liverpool is currently riding a seven-game winning streak across all competitions, dethroning Tottenham in the runners-up spot in the Premier League table – only behind the spotless Manchester City.

Liverpool hasn’t lost to Spurs since a 4-1 thrashing in October 2017; in fact, the Reds defeated the Lilywhites twice in the previous campaign.

However, this will be the Reds’ first experience playing in the raucous atmosphere of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Postecoglou will be yelling instructions from the sidelines.

TEAM NEWS.

Brennan Johnson’s hamstring injury occurred 60 minutes into his full debut for Tottenham, and James Maddison’s gut-wrenching knee jolt was followed by a brief period of perseverance before he was substituted.
Despite these setbacks, Tottenham managed to win the North London derby.

Although Maddison’s knee scans are thought to have revealed encouraging results, Spurs are optimistic that the August Premier League Player of the Month will be able to play against the Reds.

Johnson, however, is more uncertain, though Richarlison is available to fill in.

Ivan Perisic (knee), Giovani Lo Celso (thigh), Alfie Whiteman (ankle), Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Bryan Gil (groin), and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) are among the known absences for the hosts, though the latter two are now reportedly back in training as they speed up their individual recoveries.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, the vice captain of Liverpool, is back with the team at Kirkby after a hamstring injury, but he still has a race against time to be ready for Saturday’s pivotal match.

Speaking of players returning to the practice fields.

The only other injury concern for Klopp’s squad is midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who won’t be back from his hip injury for a few more weeks.
Otherwise, the visitors have all of their players available, and they will start with their strongest lineup after giving a number of bench players opportunities in midweek.

In the final third, it is anticipated that Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz—the latter of whom was completely absent on Wednesday—will reunite.

A rested Joel Matip might also continue his recent streak of Premier League starts in the backline alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Potential starting lineup for Tottenham Hotspur:.

Vicario, Bissouma, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Kulusevski, Maddison, Son, and Richarlison.

Starting lineup options for Liverpool include:.

Alisson, Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Jones, Mac Allister, Nunez, and Diaz.

We say Liverpool 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur.

Both Spurs and Liverpool have recently compensated for defensive lapses with an abundance of goals at the proper end of the field – especially when conceding the opener – and Saturday’s highly anticipated matchup should be no different.

Spurs’ chances of winning in the capital will depend greatly on Maddison’s health, but Klopp’s team is once again proving to be a very difficult opponent to beat.

As a result, we can see Postecoglou presiding over a second straight four-goal draw in which both teams maintain their unbeaten records.
