Later this week, Liverpool will start their pre-season training programme. Arne Slot will be welcoming back several of his important players for the 2024–2025 season.

The Reds will resume pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre this week, following what has felt like a longer than normal wait.

It was unknown precisely when Slot’s team would begin fitness testing and medical examinations because the club had not revealed many details about their preparations for his first summer in charge.

However, it is now clear that Liverpool will begin preseason on Friday, when a mix of important players and unimportant players are expected to return.

Mohamed Salah, who had a long rest following his Egypt duty, will captain that starting squad and be among up to 16 first-team players who will play on the first day.

Among the more experienced players anticipated to return are Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Jarell Quansah, Wataru Endo, Kostas Tsimikas, Caoimhin Kelleher, Conor Bradley, and Stefan Bajcetic.

Ben Doak, James McConnell, Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns, and returning loanees Sepp van den Berg, Fabio Carvalho, and Nat Phillips are expected to join them.

Preseason has already started for Liverpool’s academy teams; on Monday morning, the U21s and U18s returned to their home ground at the AXA.

Over the summer, a few players from that group will be brought up to first-team training, and in the upcoming weeks, Slot’s ranks will rise.

Following the post-season break, Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson, and custodian Vitezslav Jaros will return to the pitch. They were eliminated from the Euros during the group stage.

Although Slot’s level of participation in these initial training sessions is unknown, the 45-year-old will want to leave his mark right away.

He may do so in front of the media on Friday morning, when Slot will have his first press conference at the training facility at 11 a.m. as the head coach of Liverpool.
