Rumours and news about transfers today: Liverpool to sign Fernandez-Pardo, Mejbri to Rangers

Matias Fernandez-Pardo, a Belgian talent, is apparently being closely watched by three Premier League teams, including Liverpool.
The 19-year-old, who plays mostly on the left side but can also operate slightly off the striker, plays for Gent in his own country and has already scored 10 goals in 28 games for the massive Belgian team.
In seven games during the 2024–25 season, Fernandez-Pardo has scored twice. He has also earned ten caps for Belgium’s Under-19 team, scoring three goals and assisting on another.
Journalist Chris Wheatley, via the Liverpool Echo, reports that Liverpool, one of the few teams attempting to lure the adolescent away from his own country, has taken notice of his accomplishments.
Leicester City and Southampton are closely monitoring the situation as well. Should the 19-year-old decide to leave Gent before the August 30 deadline, he might reasonably anticipate playing more games with the newly promoted teams.
According to reports, Fernandez-Pardo’s only agent is his father. He has a deal with Gent that expires at the end of the 2025–2026 season.
Is Hannibal Mejbri of Manchester United still a target for Rangers to pursue?
Speaking of youthful attackers, Rangers’ attempt to sign Hannibal Mejbri, a Manchester United prospect, may be jeopardised as a result of their inability to go past the Champions League.
Erik ten Hag has not chosen Mejbri for either of Man United’s opening Premier League games against Fulham or Brighton & Hove Albion this season, suggesting that he is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
After stints on loan at Birmingham City and Sevilla, the Tunisian international may now make a permanent move, with Rangers being long-time favourites to seal the deal.
Football Insider claims that, following Dynamo Kiev’s elimination from the Champions League qualifications earlier this month, Philippe Clement’s team may now find it difficult to entice Mejbri to Ibrox.
The Old Firm rivals of Rangers, Celtic, may potentially surprise Clement’s team by signing him, as the 21-year-old appears to be desperate to compete in Europe’s top league this season.
Mejbri, who has only made 13 appearances for the senior Man United team and whose contract expires in the summer of 2025, is reportedly being eyed by teams in the Championship as well.
Leicester City is ‘open to bids’ for the striker, who is 21 years old.
Tom Cannon, the striker for Leicester City, is reportedly for sale after slipping even farther down the ladder at the King Power Stadium. He is currently back in England.
The 21-year-old started the summer trailing both Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka, however the latter is expected to be sidelined until the end of 2025 as a result of a major ankle injury.
However, following a difficult preseason, Vardy is again completely fit, and manager Steve Cooper has bolstered his striking lineup with the addition of Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace.
Because of this, The Sun reports that Leicester will consider reasonable offers for Cannon, who was left off of the matchday roster for the Foxes’ Saturday 2-1 Premier League loss to Fulham.
The Republic of Ireland international is apparently the subject of a two-way competition between Sheffield United and Stoke City in the Championship, with Leicester reportedly considering offers of up to £7 million.
With just three goals in 16 games while wearing a Leicester jersey, Cannon is reportedly a target for the Blades in hopes of landing a loan-to-buy agreement.
