Liverpool receive double injury boost as two key Arne Slot players seen in training

Liverpool is preparing for their Champions League match

Liverpool is preparing for their Champions League match against Girona, with two of Arne Slot’s key players spotted training on Friday as they approach a return from injury.

Despite the postponement of the Merseyside derby, Liverpool won’t have to wait long for their next game. On Tuesday, Arne Slot’s team will face Girona in the Champions League. The congested fixture schedule might actually provide a slight advantage for Liverpool, giving them some extra rest in December. By the time the Everton match is played, several players could be back from injury.

Among those returning could be Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota, who were both seen participating in parts of Friday’s training session. Earlier in the day, Slot confirmed that while Alisson was “not ready yet, he will be ready very soon,” Jota was “close to being back,” offering a rare update on the 28-year-old.

Jota was seen in the gym before joining the squad on the outdoor pitches for small-sided games. The Portugal forward has been out since mid-October with a rib injury sustained during the Chelsea match.

Alisson was filmed by LFCTV performing a short running drill before joining the other goalkeepers for drills with coach Claudio Taffarel. He showed no signs of hesitation and made a series of diving saves during the session.

Conor Bradley was also spotted with his teammates in the gym. Slot confirmed that he, Kostas Tsimikas, and Ibrahima Konate are still “a bit further away from playing,” with Alisson, Jota, and Federico Chiesa the closest to returning.

Liverpool.com highlights that the return of these players will be crucial for maintaining momentum in the season. Slot doesn’t have unlimited options, especially in defense, so having more quality available will make a significant difference. Alisson and Jota are expected to immediately return to the starting XI once they are fit.

Liverpool to compete with Atletico Madrid for 21-year-old talent’s signature

    Ricardo Pepi

Liverpool is reportedly set to compete with Atletico Madrid and other top European clubs for the signature of PSV Eindhoven’s Ricardo Pepi.

The 21-year-old United States international has been in excellent form for PSV this season, scoring six goals in 11 Eredivisie matches—just one goal shy of his total from last season. Pepi netted seven goals in 27 league appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, helping PSV secure the Eredivisie title with a commanding seven-point lead over Feyenoord, managed by Arne Slot.

Now, Pepi appears to be attracting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Liverpool. According to CaughtOffside, the Reds are reportedly monitoring the forward, who could be available for a rumored fee of $26.4m (£20.8m/€25m).

Atletico Madrid is also said to be keeping an eye on Pepi, alongside Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Currently, while Liverpool’s attacking options are strong, the team is left with just one fit striker, Darwin Nunez, due to Diogo Jota’s injury.

The Athletic recently reported that Jota is expected to be sidelined for “about a week after the international break,” meaning he will miss matches against Southampton, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. Unless there is a tactical change, Nunez is likely to lead the attack for Liverpool in these games.

With Jota’s ongoing fitness issues, questions are being raised about whether Liverpool should target a new striker in January, particularly with their strong push for the Premier League title this season. Jota has not managed to complete a full Premier League campaign for Liverpool, with the only time he played more than 30 league matches coming in the 2021/22 season.

Latest Liverpool Injury Update: Four Players Unfit Ahead of October International Break

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is optimistic about the return of some players following the October international break. In their last match before the break, the Reds secured a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace, with Diogo Jota netting the sole goal.

This marked their sixth win of the season, keeping them at the top of the table, just one point ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal, both of whom also achieved victories against Fulham and Southampton.

After the international break, Liverpool faces a series of challenging matches, beginning with a home game against Chelsea, followed by an away fixture against Arsenal. In terms of injuries, Harvey Elliott has been sidelined for seven games due to a fractured foot.

Federico Chiesa joined him in the treatment room after sustaining an injury during training before their Champions League victory over Bologna last week.

Slot commented, “The latest is that we don’t know, but what we do know is that if a player walks off like he did, that normally means he is not in the Brazil squad, and I don’t expect him to be in the team for our first game after [the international break].”

He added, “We have to wait and see, but I assume it will take a few weeks for him to return. I think it is [his hamstring].”

The exact return date remains unclear.

Slot also mentioned, “He went off because of an injury, but how severe it is is difficult for me to judge at this moment. He could have continued playing, as it didn’t happen right before half-time, but he felt it a bit too much and decided it wasn’t wise to keep playing, since you never know if it could worsen.”

He noted, “Now, what is the exact situation? Can he go to Argentina? Can he play there? That’s hard for me to tell you right now. [It’s an issue] in his groin area.”

The player stated, “I felt a slight discomfort during the game, but nothing that will stop me. Now I’m fully focused on what’s ahead.”

Regarding Harvey Elliott, who has a fractured foot, Slot remarked, “Harvey is, of course, a big disappointment for him but also for us.” He added, “Okay, he didn’t play that much in the first three games, but he performed well in pre-season and showcased his abilities.”

Slot noted, “If he had stayed fit, he would have had plenty of playing time in the upcoming fixtures, but now it gives a chance to someone else.”

Fabrizio Romano responds to reports that Liverpool will sell major player with £29m replacement set to join

Fabrizio Romano has addressed when Giorgi Mamardashvili might replace Alisson Becker at Liverpool.

Despite current claims suggesting that Liverpool could transfer star goalkeeper Alisson Becker to Saudi Arabia in 2025, there is no immediate concern, even though the Reds have already secured his long-term successor in Giorgi Mamardashvili, as Fabrizio Romano has clarified.

Liverpool is known for its strategic transfer planning, often resulting in the acquisition of players who make a significant impact. While some players may not reach their full potential, Michael Edwards—who returned this summer as CEO of football after a decade as sporting director—has generally made successful decisions.

This summer’s strategic move was evident when Liverpool signed the tall Georgian goalkeeper Mamardashvili from Valencia. After a standout performance at Euro 2024, demand for the 6ft 6in player was high, but Liverpool secured him with an initial £25m (€29.6m / $32.8m) plus £4m in add-ons, totaling around £29m (€34.3m / $38m).

Liverpool’s advantage is that Mamardashvili’s transfer will be postponed by a year, allowing Valencia to keep him on loan for the 2024/25 season. This decision makes sense for Liverpool, who already have one of the top goalkeepers globally in Alisson Becker.

Having joined from Roma in the summer of 2018 for £56m (€66.3m / $73.5m), Alisson remains the second most expensive goalkeeper in history. Unlike Kepa Arrizabalaga, the most expensive, Alisson has justified his price tag. This season, he has yet to concede a goal in 270 minutes of play, with Liverpool’s defense remaining unbreached in their three games, including a notable 3-0 win at Old Trafford.

Fabrizio Romano responds to reports that Liverpool will sell major player with £29m replacement set to join

Alisson, with 266 appearances for Liverpool and a memorable goal against West Brom in 2021, has proven his worth. Liverpool’s interest in Mamardashvili also reflects concerns over interest from Saudi Arabia in Alisson. TEAMtalk previously reported that Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr had shown significant interest in Alisson this summer.

Romano has dismissed the speculation about Alisson’s future, emphasizing that it is too early to make predictions. “On the rumors for Alisson, it’s the same as Kovacic, nothing at all,” Romano stated in the Daily Briefing. “Mentioning a target today for a club in July 2025 is a guess job, and I’m not into it guys. The Saudis have appreciated Alisson for a long time but that’s it. Predicting his future means inventing stuff.”

Liverpool and manager Arne Slot are confident in their goalkeeping position for the foreseeable future. Alisson’s contract runs until summer 2027, so the club is not rushing to move him. His impressive record of 89 clean sheets in 204 Premier League appearances underlines his importance to the team.

For the time being, Liverpool has no urgent plans to replace their number one goalkeeper and will likely let him decide when it’s time for a new challenge.

As for Mamardashvili, he will continue with Valencia for now. Initially, Liverpool intended to loan him to Bournemouth, but Premier League regulations blocked this plan. Bournemouth has instead loaned Kepa from Chelsea for the 2024/25 season.

If Alisson stays at Anfield, Mamardashvili’s move could be deferred, though a future transfer to Anfield could still be in the cards, possibly with a delayed move to the Premier League after another year.

  • Liverpool transfer news: ‘Monster’ Alisson offer set and defender poised to leave the club

Liverpool transfer news: ‘Monster’ Alisson offer set and defender poised to leave the club

    Adam Lewis

Liverpool is about to part ways with a defender after a lengthy partnership, while a great player may be the target of a significant Saudi effort.

When the transfer window opens on June 14, Liverpool is probably going to recruit one or two players. A lot of people will be watching it when Arne Slot takes over the club.

Liverpool has a lot of questions to address when it comes to the outgoing side of things, but it’s just as exciting. Most importantly, the Reds will want to quickly decide on the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In addition to those three contracts that are about to expire, there are further concerns at hand. Although Saudi Arabia is well known to be interested in Salah, it appears that teams in the area may also be vying for Alisson.

While this is going on, some issues have already been settled, and one player will be released after over 20 years with the team. This is Liverpool.com’s assessment of the transfer rumours that have been circulating about the Reds lately.

    Alisson (Saudi club)

“A’monster offer’ is being prepared by sides in Saudi Arabia to present to Alisson,” TeamTalk reports. As the Pro League tries to entice a top-tier goalkeeper, he is ‘the chosen one’.

Alisson, for his part, is rumoured to wish to remain in Europe, where Liverpool is back in the Champions League for the upcoming campaign. Given that Ederson was always close to getting started, he would not want to risk his spot on the Brazil squad.

However, he has reportedly “yet to fully reject” moving to Saudi Arabia despite the prospect of a sizable incoming offer. Although a transfer is anticipated to be “extremely difficult,” it is not unfeasible.

According to Liverpool.com, losing Alisson would be the worst way to begin the Slot era. He is arguably the least disposable of all Liverpool’s “ageing” stars because he is still at the top of his game and will likely stay that way for some time to come.

Although it would also be a blow, a move would undoubtedly benefit Caoimhin Kelleher, who is otherwise anticipated to depart Liverpool. If forced to choose between the two, the Brazilian must stay, and the Reds must make every effort to persuade him to reject any advances from Saudi Arabia.

In that sense, it doesn’t seem like it would have a difficult time as Alisson seems to be leaning towards sticking put. After several players found it difficult to adjust after making the transfer last summer, the Pro League will undoubtedly discover that it has a similar problem with many of the greatest names.

    Adam Lewis (Newport County)

    Adam Lewis

Adam Lewis, who joined at the under-6 level, is ultimately scheduled to depart from Liverpool. According to Anfield, the 24-year-old will be freed when his contract expires.

For the previous two years, Lewis has been at Newport County on loan. When he becomes a free agent, the Welsh team hopes to extend that agreement.

“I hope to keep him here,” “I would like to have a meeting with him to discuss his future,” manager Graham Coughlan stated in an interview with the South Wales Argus.

Lewis did play for Liverpool; he appeared in an FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town in 2020, under manager Jurgen Klopp. After that, he was leased to Livingston, Plymouth Argyle, Amiens, and finally Newport. Lewis’s departure from Liverpool is not surprising

According to Liverpool.com; under Klopp, he would always have that appearance, but at 24, it never seemed plausible that he would make more. Hopefully, he has all he needs to have a successful career at a bit lesser level.

  • Alisson sums the two things that have gone wrong with Liverpool perfectly.

Alisson sums the two things that have gone wrong with Liverpool perfectly.

Alisson sums the two things that have gone wrong with Liverpool perfectly.

Liverpool has not prevailed in any of their previous; Goalie Alisson sees two major issues that need to be resolved after three games in all competitions.

Alisson, the custodian for Liverpool, has identified two crucial problems that the Reds must resolve in order to turn around their recent dismal performance.

When Jurgen Klopp leaves his position as manager at the end of the campaign, Liverpool hopes to offer him a memorable sendoff. They have already won the Carabao Cup. But in recent weeks, their chances of winning two more titles have diminished.

They are down 3-0 going into the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal matchup with Atalanta. They have surrendered points in their last two Premier League games, drawing 2-2 with Manchester United and losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace.

To get back on track, Alisson thinks Liverpool just needs to “go back to keeping clean sheets and try to score the chances that we have” “[We have] had two bad results, [but] I think we cannot make the mistake to make these bigger than it is,” he emphasised in remarks made before of the second leg against Atalanta.

Alisson sums the two things that have gone wrong with Liverpool perfectly.

“As players for the LFC, we obviously cannot accept losing 3-0 at home. It goes without saying that we need to improve our performances, but to be more specific, we need to return to maintaining clean sheets and attempting to score from our clear opportunities in front of the goal.

“I am saying it because I know the quality we have as a team and because I have a lot of faith in my strikers and defenders. Therefore, I believe we can resume winning games if we improve these kinds of things as a squad and do that as a defence and an offensive unit.”

In addition, he acknowledged that Liverpool “need to do a much better job than we did in the first leg” to overcome a 3-0 lead and that Atalanta will be a tough test. Alisson continued, “They will be a difficult nut to crack.”

They are a physically, tactically, and technically very physical side. Taking them on has always been an extremely difficult match. They play 11 on 11, man-marking everywhere on the pitch. If you are playing against a side that does this, you have to make sure you are prepared to work hard and run.

It’s useless to even go out and play if you don’t accomplish it! They performed a fantastic job in the previous game, and it was evident that they had thoroughly studied us as a team in order to prepare the game.

We had a poor performance as well. Although I believe this match may be very different from the first leg, we still need to perform much better.”

    Ian Doyle

The Ian Doyle analysis following Liverpool’s humiliating 1-0 Premier League home loss to Crystal Palace

    Attack need overhaul

Like every assault, there was bound to be a time when Liverpool’s prolific forward line would cease to produce goals. However, it is rare that it occurred at such a bad moment.

The Reds were once again undone by their wastefulness after squandering opportunities to win at Manchester United the previous weekend and then having enough opportunity to give themselves a fighting chance for the Europa League quarterfinal second leg against Atalanta on Thursday.

For those who place a lot of weight on these arbitrary measurements, Liverpool’s xG (expected goals) total of 2.87 was the highest for a Premier League game in which they failed to score since records for such metrics were kept in 2010. In fact, no side has been so wasteful since Brighton two years ago.

Even though each forward line member still had a fair chance to score, it is concerning that they appear just as worn out as the rest of the team. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson of Palace made some unintentionally excellent stops to deny Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, and he also denied a late shot from Mohamed Salah.

Henderson was nowhere to be found, and only fellow substitute Cody Gakpo had any genuine energy among the forwards. Even Diogo Jota had a chance to score but was denied by a block from former Liverpool player Nathaniel Clyne. Jota and Gakpo are also expected to arrive in Italy on Thursday. It’s time to relaunch the offensive.

    Alisson deserves more.

The Ian Doyle analysis following Liverpool's humiliating 1-0 Premier League home loss to Crystal Palace

When Liverpool’s player of the year, Alisson Becker, suffered a serious hamstring injury more than two months ago, there was concern among some that the team’s season would have collapsed.

Therefore, it would have come as a pleasant surprise to many if the Reds had entered the most recent round of games tied for first place at the Premier League summit.

Although Caoimhin Kelleher has played well to solidify his position as perhaps the nation’s best number two goalie, Alisson is the top goalie in the world for a reason, as evidenced by his incredible save of Jean-Philippe Mateta at point blank range in the second half.

However, there was little the Brazilian could do to stop Crystal Palace’s goal, as Liverpool let the visitors kick the ball around unopposed until it dropped for an unmarked Ebererchi Eze to score.

The Reds’ current record of nine Premier League games at Anfield without a clean sheet is now equal to their longest streak of any team in the tournament when it comes to home losses. Additionally, it meant that in half of Klopp’s team’s 32 Premier League games this season, his team has trailed at some point.

That is just untenable for a squad that wants to win a championship, and the new manager should definitely address this.

Trent and Jones draw attention to an issue

The Ian Doyle analysis following Liverpool's humiliating 1-0 Premier League home loss to Crystal Palace

The joke from earlier in the week implied that it was standard Liverpool fare to come out of an injury crisis only to deteriorate further. However, recent performance demonstrates the problem Klopp had previously mentioned—that is, the necessity of reintegrating players into a team following an extended period of time away from the pitch.

For instance, Curtis Jones made his first Premier League start in two months, and the result left the crowd furious as he missed two excellent second-half opportunities. Would one of those opportunities have been converted by a more match-sharp Jones? Considering his pre-injury form, it’s rather likely.

As a replacement for the injured Conor Bradley, Trent Alexander-Arnold made his first appearance since mid-February, albeit an early one.

Even though he was understandably rusty, he was still able to display some of the inventiveness that made him such a valuable player in the first few games of the campaign.

And Alexander-Arnold will play a big part once more if Liverpool are to win anything in the final weeks.

Concerning updates of Alisson, Curtis Jones, and Diogo Jota's injuries for Liverpool

For the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool will be without Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, and Alisson. Journalists will be updating the injury report.

After the 4-1 victory over Brentford, the Reds’ injury situation is becoming dire as two more players are out.

After being ejected from the game, Jones and Jota are now expected to miss Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, according to numerous reports.

Following preliminary scans for issues with the ankle and knee, respectively, Liverpool is reportedly “awaiting further tests before determining exactly how much time the duo will be [out],” according to Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph.

Jones and Jota are likely to be out for a long time, so it is not surprising that they will miss the final, which matches Liverpool against Chelsea.

According to the Portuguese publication Record, Jota’s ligament damage will keep him out of action for almost two months.

Alisson’s ability to heal from a hamstring issue in time for the March international break has been questioned.

The goalkeeper may have to play in a “race against time” to make appearances against teams like Man City (March 10) and Everton (March 17), according to Bascombe and Paul Joyce of the Times. He may miss an additional six games.

Concerning updates of Alisson, Curtis Jones, and Diogo Jota's injuries for Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee) were already unlikely to make it to the championship game, and Thiago (hamstring) is once more a long-term absentee.

Ben Doak (MCL), Joel Matip (ACL), and Stefan Bajcetic (calf) are also sidelined with injuries, and Darwin Nunez was substituted at halftime against Brentford because of a muscular problem.

Nunez and Mohamed Salah have not been updated as of yet, despite rumours in his home country of Egypt that he would miss Wednesday night’s match against Luton.

Report: Xabi Alonso response to Liverpool job after contact made

Report: Xabi Alonso response to Liverpool job after contact made

Xabi Alonso, a legend of Liverpool, has been linked to a return to Anfield ever since Jurgen Klopp made his departure known.

According to reports, Liverpool has gotten in touch with Xabi Alonso to gauge his interest in succeeding Jurgen Klopp after the German retires this summer.

The French publication Foot Mercato has confirmed this, chasing rumours that linked the Bayer Leverkusen manager to a reunion with his old team nearly as soon as Klopp declared his choice last month.

During his time at Anfield, Alonso was a hugely popular player. Under Rafa Benitez, his elegant midfield stylings were crucial to their victories in the 2005 Champions League, the 2006 FA Cup, and their most convincing Premier League run to date, which ended in a narrow loss to Manchester United in 2009.

After leaving the team that summer, Alonso spent his last seasons at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. He then turned to coaching, beginning his managerial career with Real Sociedad B until joining Leverkusen in 2022.

The former Spanish international is currently leading the team to their first-ever Bundesliga championship after doing admirably in the role. After defeating Bayern of second place 3-0 on Saturday, Leverkusen leads the table by five points with 13 games remaining and an undefeated record.

It makes sense, then, that Alonso has played coy about the speculations that he is interested in joining Liverpool, stating only that he is content with his current position and committed to finishing the task at hand.

In Foot Mercato’s reporting, that position has been reaffirmed without specific quotations, implying that they have independently investigated the matter.

Although Liverpool leads the table by just two points above Manchester City and Arsenal—the latter of which has a game in hand—Jurgen Klopp is hoping to end his career on a high note.

Next weekend, Liverpool will play Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley before taking on Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round. Next Friday, they will also find out who their opponents are in the Europa League round of 16.

Liverpool turns down surprise Deadline Day transfer offer from Premier League club

    Caoimhin Kelleher

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool has turned down an offer for keeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old was valued at well than £20 million by The Reds, but Forest only offered £15 million for him.

Even though Alisson plays at a world-class level and he is merely Anfield’s second choice, he has recently been granted some opportunities.

He has made 34 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s team overall, and he has often impressed.

Liverpool’s refusal to sell him is not surprising, especially considering there is still time in the transfer window to find a suitable successor.

The Reds are also rumoured to have based their asking price on Manchester City’s £19 million transfer of James Trafford to Burnley.

Former Arsenal striker wanted by Forest

According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest is attempting to investigate a late-transfer window move for former Arsenal star Chuba Akpom.

On deadline day, the Reds are seeking to strengthen their attack, and they are giving the Ajax player significant consideration.

This season, Akpom has made 20 appearances across all competitions and scored nine goals, attracting the interest of other Premier League teams.

Though it’s thought that Ajax won’t easily allow Akpom to go, they might be tempted with a big offer.

Although Fulham has also been connected to Akpom, it seems that Armando Broja of Chelsea is now the target.

Liverpool may consider Tosin Adarabioyo, a defender for Fulham, in the summer.

The 26-year-old centre half greatly impressed Liverpool during their Carabao Cup semifinal match at Craven Cottage on Wednesday. Since Tosin is free to speak with foreign teams, AC Milan has already expressed interest in signing him before his contract expires in the summer.

Tottenham was also considering the 6′ 5in defender throughout the summer, and Liverpool is looking to strengthen their defensive lineup. Despite Jurgen Klopp’s departure, a free transfer to replace Joel Matip or another player of their calibre is probably appealing.

Tosin is aware that Fulham wants to keep him, but he will have options as a free agent. Fulham is content to wait and see what happens.

The 26-year-old centre half greatly pleased Liverpool during their Carabao Cup semifinal second leg at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.

After Nat Phillips, a 26-year-old centre back, spent the first half of the season at Celtic, the Reds have permitted him to join Cardiff City on loan for the balance of the season.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Matip all sustained major injuries during the 2020–21 season, during which time Phillips made 20 appearances for the Reds. Phillips has played 29 times for the team. He only made five appearances for Celtic during the previous season, but he made eight appearances throughout the first half of this one.

Although Blackburn had also hoped to sign the defender, he will now play out the remainder of the season in South Wales.

Right-back Calvin Ramsay, who featured just twice for Preston in the first half of the season, has also been loaned by the Reds to Bolton. Ramsay’s loan at Liverpool is expected to go as well as that of right-back Conor Bradley, who won Bolton’s player of the year award following an outstanding campaign and is presently making an impression for the first team.

    Tosin Adarabioyo

Liverpool’s left-back After being brought back earlier this month, Owen Beck has also been granted permission to return on loan to Dundee in Scotland.

After Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas suffered injuries, Beck—who had been playing well at Dundee—was brought back to Liverpool, where he made his Premier League debut in the team’s 4-0 victory over Bournemouth. According to FIFA regulations, he was not allowed to play for a third team this season after making appearances for Dundee and Liverpool.

After the first half of the season that we both experienced together, I am more than happy to be back, Beck remarked. At this point, I’m eager to perform in front of the crowd once more.

“I am ecstatic to be back. I would want to express my gratitude to the Dundee supporters for their unwavering support over the first half of the season. Even after you learned that I had been recalled, you showed incredible love. Now that I’m back, let’s get back to work.

After Man United’s defeat, Alisson believes that three “massive” Liverpool players need assistance.

After Man United's defeat, Alisson believes that three "massive" Liverpool players need assistance.Alisson was essential to Liverpool in order to prevent a really disappointing outcome from turning disastrous. He has given some thought to where Manchester United went wrong.

Alisson Becker, the custodian, was aware that Liverpool’s typically potent offence fell short in the match against Manchester United on Sunday. Even though the Reds dominated the whole game, they couldn’t penetrate the United defense—before this match, they hadn’t drawn a blank in 35 games.

Liverpool had a commanding 68% of the possession and made an incredible 34 shots on goal. But André Onana of United’s goalkeeping failed to stop it, resulting in a disappointing fall from the top spot in the Premier League.

Alisson was forced into action to stop two significant Manchester United attacks, but he was pleased with Liverpool’s defensive effort. But he blamed the lack of creativity from the attacking line against the team’s bitter rivals for the failure to clinch a victory.

Alisson said, “Unfortunately, it’s a draw for us today, not what we were hoping for,” in reflection on the game. However, we must accept the positive things we accomplished on the pitch. We had a lot of chances and I believe we dominated the entire game, but there is still much room for improvement.

“We take the positives from this afternoon: the clean sheet, which was, in my opinion, extremely good; our defence was strong; we were aggressive when necessary; we stopped counterattacks and gave them only one or two opportunities. Perhaps we should do better in the last third of the pitch during the creation phase, giving ourselves better opportunities, maintaining composure when handling the ball, and making wiser decisions. We hurried a little bit at times.”

Alisson analysed the final third of the game and questioned the front line’s decision-making, saying, “Shooting balls that we could have passed to a player in a better position.” However, since the season doesn’t offer us much time to get better, we must learn from this as soon as possible because it is a part of the game.”

Even after the scoreless draw, Alisson is still confident that his squad can score more goals. While acknowledging that dominating the scoreboard isn’t always possible, he insisted that there is still room for development and urged other players to support the forwards:

“The strikers, they are huge for us. They consistently score. I believe there are occasions when other players try to score from set pieces as well. Every game, one after the other, the first three and the newcomers make all the difference.”

When it comes to scoring from set pieces, Alisson is quite knowledgeable. Against Manchester United, players like Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté missed good opportunities, and nobody was able to save the attackers in the end.

After Man United's defeat, Alisson believes that three "massive" Liverpool players need assistance.

According to Liverpool.com: Alisson may have been a touch too kind in his judgement that the strikers are the ones making the difference in every game. The statement primarily applies to Mohamed Salah, but it hides a bit of a lack of production from the other front-line players. Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez were the other starts in this game, with Cody Gakpo coming off the bench.

The Egyptian is incapable of doing it alone, and it’s possible that he required assistance from a midfielder or member of the defence against Manchester United. Trent Alexander-Arnold came very, very close to achieving that. Above all, though, Salah needs to give up part of the blame to the other attackers.

After Man United's defeat, Alisson believes that three "massive" Liverpool players need assistance.

Alisson is correct: Liverpool’s front line is “massive.” It’s crucial to get them all back into shape because of this.

Every Liverpool player available for LASK as five players out following Alisson injury blowJürgen Klopp will be missing five players for Liverpool’s Europa League match against LASK as he tries to get his team back to winning ways.

Despite their unfortunate 3-2 loss to Toulouse in Ligue 1 before the international break, Liverpool is now leading Group E in the Europa League rankings.

After the Reds’ encouraging 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, Jürgen Klopp will be keen to get his team back on the winning track at Anfield later today.

After winning the rematch against LASK 3-1 on the road in September, Liverpool will also be confident in its ability to defeat its opponents in Austria.

Florian Flecker of LASK scored the first goal of the match, but goals from Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, and Darwin Núñez swiftly cancelled it out. The Reds are looking to repeat that result later today.

The return of Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, and Joe Gomez to first-team action last week gave Liverpool a boost, but after losing both Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota to injuries sustained versus City, Liverpool has rapidly fallen back to earth.

Due to an injury to their first-choice goalkeeper, Caoimhín Kelleher is now probably going to spend some time in the starting lineup for the Reds. Fortunately, Klopp can substitute players like Díaz or Cody Gakpo for the injured Jota. Due to Andy Robertson’s prolonged absence as he continues to heal from a shoulder injury, Kostas Tsimikas is also expected to start at left back.

In other spots, Klopp might switch up his centre backs, giving Virgil van Dijk a much-needed break. Instead, youthful players Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konaté might start in place of the Liverpool captain.

The whole roster of players that the manager has access to as the Reds attempt to qualify for the Europa League knockout stages is provided here by Liverpool.com.

Goalkeepers: Fabian Mrozek, Vítězslav Jaroš, and Caoimhín Kelleher.

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luke Chambers, Calum Scanlon, Joe Gomez, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konaté, Joël Matip, Jarell Quansah, and Kostas Tsimikas.

Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endō, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Ryan Gravenberch, and James McConnell are midfielders.

Forwards: Luis Díaz, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez, and Ben Doak.

Injured players: Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcântara, Stefan Bajčetić, and Andy Robertson

Among the players in doubt is Conor Bradley.

Klopp was concerned that against Man City, two important Liverpool players might have suffered significant injuries. After coming from behind to earn a draw with Manchester City on Saturday, Liverpool left the Etihad Stadium with a point.

Trent Alexander-Arnold responded with a long-range striker in the second half of play, but Erling Haaland gave the Premier League champions the lead in the first.

The point drops the pair to first and second in the standings, but it gives Arsenal a chance to take the lead on Saturday night if they defeat Brentford.

Although the outcome will please Jurgen Klopp more than the other manager, the German coach might have lost two important players in the process.

Diogo Jota appeared to have a muscle injury when he left the pitch after 54 minutes of play in the second half. After the full-time whistle, Alisson was seen hobbling after going down with a hamstring injury later in the match.

After the game, Klopp discussed the injuries with Sky Sports, stating that Jota might miss some time due to a muscle ailment and that he will have to wait and see how his goalie is doing.

Although the Brazilian international is one of Liverpool’s most reliable players, Klopp is devastated by Alisson’s departure. The Reds do, however, have a backup for the attacker.
