five players may miss Liverpool’s match against Newcastle as Eddie Howe provides Alexander Isak update

Latest Liverpool FC Updates Ahead of Newcastle Showdown at St James’ Park

Up to five players may miss tonight’s Premier League fixture in the North East.

Liverpool face off with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Monday evening, as both teams aim to gain ground in the league standings.

The Reds began their campaign with a convincing 4-2 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield. Arne Slot’s side saw late goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah seal the win in the final minutes.

In contrast, Newcastle played out a 0-0 stalemate with Aston Villa. With Alexander Isak currently refusing to play amid a push to join Liverpool, Eddie Howe turned to Anthony Gordon to lead the Magpies’ attack.

Although Liverpool may feel confident, Newcastle are eager to prove to their absent striker exactly what he’s walking away from. Unfortunately for Slot, up to five players might be unavailable for selection tonight.

    Frimpong Sidelined With Hamstring Issue

Last weekend, Jeremie Frimpong sustained a hamstring injury during the Bournemouth clash. The 24-year-old full-back, signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million earlier this summer, had to be withdrawn around the hour mark.

Speaking during Thursday’s press conference, Slot provided an update: “The medical team was completely right about Jeremie to tell me that I had to take him off, because he is out until the end of the international break, and that happened in the game.

I already said immediately after the game that it had nothing to do with how he played, but we felt he had an issue with his hamstring. And with ‘we’ I don’t mean me, but the medical staff.

And they were completely right. So, a good call to take him off; otherwise, he would have maybe been out for longer. And we expect to have him back after the international break.”

Gomez and Bradley Both Remain Doubts

Joe Gomez made a brief return from injury with an 18-minute appearance against Bournemouth, but doubts remain over his readiness for a full return.

Slot explained: “For him to play 20 minutes [this season] is already quite a lot. I wouldn’t say he had a setback, but he wasn’t able to train with us three days in a row completely with the team, which is completely normal if you have been out for so long and all of a sudden the manager needs you for 20 minutes.

He is training with the team, so let’s see where he is on Monday, if he can be involved in the team, or if he can even start. But there are other options.”

Conor Bradley is also in doubt for the clash, having missed both the Community Shield and the league opener.

“Conor trained for a few minutes with us today for the first time,” Slot added.

Newcastle Missing Isak and Possibly Willock

Newcastle’s injury list is considerably shorter, with only two potential absentees. Alexander Isak remains unavailable, and Joe Willock has only just resumed full training. Meanwhile, Jacob Ramsey—recently signed from Aston Villa for £40 million—is expected to feature.

Speaking on Willock, Howe shared: “Joe trained on Tuesday and Wednesday and trained really well. When he went down in the game [in Korea] I thought he was going to be out longer term, it didn’t look good. Credit to him, he’s got back fit and looking good.”

Regarding Isak’s situation, Howe expressed disappointment: “It was a sad moment. My preference is these things do not happen publicly. They are better dealt with behind closed doors. But needs must. The club has spoken, and justifiably so in that moment.

He’s contracted to us. He’s our player. My wish is that he would be playing on Monday. He won’t be, and that’s regrettable. But 100 percent I want him back in a Newcastle

Liverpool’s Interest in Signing “Expensive” Premier League Winger Was More Substantial Than Arsenal’s

Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal might compete for the same Premier League player next year

Despite various transfer speculations about Arsenal, journalist Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Liverpool demonstrated the strongest interest in acquiring Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer.

Gordon, a promising young England international who has made a notable impact in the Premier League recently, made it challenging for Newcastle to retain him during the transfer window.

Romano, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for the latest Daily Briefing column, downplayed Arsenal’s links to Gordon, asserting that the Gunners did not intend to spend significant money on a new winger this season.

According to Romano, Gordon would likely have been too pricey for Arsenal. He mentioned that Liverpool engaged in discussions about a potential deal but ultimately decided against it due to Gordon’s high asking price.

Gordon Transfer: Liverpool’s Interest More Substantial Than Arsenal’s

While Arsenal may hold an interest in Gordon and the 23-year-old is likely valued by several top clubs, there currently isn’t much to update on this topic based on Romano’s comments.

Romano noted, “Liverpool were the club in talks to sign Gordon in June. I don’t have any concrete info on Arsenal also because they never really planned to spend crazy money on a winger this summer. Liverpool wanted him in June but then he was too expensive.”

Newcastle’s ability to assert their position on this key player was commendable, and supporters will be relieved that they managed to deter clubs like Liverpool from pursuing him.

Overall, the Magpies had a successful summer in this regard, successfully retaining key players such as Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.

Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal might compete for the same Premier League player next year

    Bryan Mbuemo

Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all monitoring their transfer targets for the upcoming year.

These Premier League giants made significant investments in their squads this summer and are expected to compete fiercely for the title this season.

Off the pitch, they are also set to battle each other for Premier League talent.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo has caught the attention of top English clubs due to his consistent performances.

According to HITC, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle United are all interested in acquiring the Brentford forward.

His impressive performances have been somewhat overshadowed by Ivan Toney’s presence at the club.

Nevertheless, Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa stepped up to lead the team’s attack during Toney’s suspension due to his betting ban.

The report suggests that Mbuemo could become one of the most sought-after players next year, given the interest from numerous clubs.

He meets the criteria that clubs are currently prioritizing, performing well in the data and analytics that many recruitment teams use today.

Brentford will aim to secure the player with a long-term contract.

Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all interested in Mbuemo.

Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all interested in Mbuemo.

Currently, he has two years remaining on his deal, but the Bees are expected to offer him an extended contract with enhanced terms.

The Cameroon international excels both as a scorer and a creator, and his versatility in attacking roles makes him a valuable asset for any team that signs him.

He has begun the new season strongly, scoring three goals in three games so far, including a brace in Brentford’s 3-1 victory over Southampton last week.

Liverpool is expected to sign TWO Premier League players, as odds SLASHED for stunning transfer

Every transfer window ends with a few unexpected speculations floating about, and this one is no exception with Liverpool reportedly connected to a deal for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 22-year-old is expected to make a highly controversial move across Stanley Park, and bookmakers Sky Bet and bet365 cut their odds on him doing so on Sunday night. The latter said they have him odds-on at 4/5 to be wearing a Reds shirt when the transfer window closes.

The rumours are illogical in a realistic sense. One thing is a rumoured £80 million price tag, although Everton would be very hesitant to even consider selling their valued asset to their Merseyside rivals.

Even though there is no truth to this transfer rumour, bookies are still expecting Liverpool to be busy before the summer transfer season ends.

The players expected to sign with Liverpool before to the transfer deadline.

As of this writing, the Reds are 5/6 favourites to recruit Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and 5/1 to get Ollie Watkins to leave Aston Villa, according to Sky Bet.

Two fairly intriguing connections, but two deals that might depend on possible outgoings because Liverpool’s attacking line is quite deep with players like Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz.

The Merseyside giants are also fourth favourites at 9/1 and 20/1 to acquire Victor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze, respectively, and 25/1 to win the fight for Athletic Club winger Nico Williams. Furthermore, they are third favourites at 20/1 to capture Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

Arne Slot has disclosed that work is being done behind the scenes to bolster the team, but it is unclear what gets done at Anfield.

Before his team defeated Ipswich Town 2-0, he stated, “It’s not always true that if you bring in new players the team becomes stronger, because I also believe in general that every player in the team needs to have perspective on playing time.”

“The group’s energy can occasionally decrease if you keep adding players. However, as I’ve mentioned numerous times, Richard and I are the ones working to bolster the team. We attempt to bring someone in if we believe we have found them.

Sadly, the person we believed could assist us later declined. However, Richard is still working to strengthen the team in the background.”

  • Eddie Howe of Newcastle sent a transfer notice to Liverpool over Anthony Gordon

Eddie Howe of Newcastle sent a transfer notice to Liverpool over Anthony Gordon

    Marc Guehi

Eddie Howe has added William Osula from Sheffied United to his roster and provided an update on the situation with the Liverpool target, Marc Guehi, Kieran Trippier, and Anthony Gordon.

Anthony Gordon, a target for Liverpool, resumed his training, Eddie Howe issued a warning to Newcastle, saying they would “fight tooth and nail” to retain their major names.

Because of Newcastle’s financial fair play circumstances, the head coach said today that “there’ll always be the possibility that anyone could leave.”

However, he made it clear that his intention was to alert teams like Liverpool to the fact that elite players like Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes, and Alexander Isak—who committed to Newcastle for the upcoming campaign—are off limits.

Kieron Trippier is not actively seeking a move, but Newcastle might still sell him if a bid is received, according to Howe. As the champions prepare to gain an additional £80 million in revenue from the sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid, Guimaraes, who has been observed by Manchester City, declares that he is dedicated to creating a “special” season on Tyneside.

Regarding Gordon, Howe stated: “He has been incredibly focused on his work, fitness, and everything related to Newcastle United Football Club. His mind is on Newcastle.”

Absence of distractions When asked about Trippier, who has had meetings with representatives of a Saudi league team, Howe responded, “I see him as a huge part of the team and the squad going forward but as I said earlier, there’ll always be the possibility that anyone could leave, especially while we’re still in the midst of financial fair play which is still affecting the club.”

I won’t discuss specific players, but presumably, there will be outgoings in addition to incomings.

    Eddie Howe

That is not to say that everyone is walking around with a ‘For Sale’ sign plastered on their head. Financial Fair Play will continue to have an impact on our decision-making process. No, our goal is to retain our finest players, and we will stop at nothing to achieve that.

That doesn’t imply that some players won’t leave; that’s because it must be on our end. Kieran isn’t actively seeking to go, in my opinion. He has performed admirably in training this week and returned with the goal and full commitment of any player returning for preseason games to fight for his spot.

“I am able to give you nothing,” Howe said, providing no updates on the club’s attempt to acquire England defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace for a reported £60 million.

Joe Gomez might compel Liverpool to make a move after the £45 million deal fell through at the last minute

William Osula, a youthful striker for Sheffield United, was signed by Newcastle yesterday after three years of pursuit. Though Howe has gushed about his potential, he will be a backup to Isak and Callum Wilson.

“I have known him since Jason (Tindall) was at Sheff U,” the man stated. For three years, we have followed him. He had the makings of a solid centre striker and thrilled us. fast speed, toned body, height of 6 feet 3 inches, and technical proficiency.

“He is in a good position to grow in the areas that need improvement. We have two excellent forwards, and there are no better centre forwards to look up to, learn from, and pick their brains. However, finding players that fit that description is difficult, and we are not financially able to spend ridiculous sums of money.

Update on Anthony Gordon’s transfer following Liverpool’s proposal, with Newcastle leaving the door open to departure

Update on Anthony Gordon's transfer following Liverpool's proposal, with Newcastle leaving the door open to departure

On August 30, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe provided an update regarding Anthony Gordon, a target for Liverpool, and his future.

Anthony Gordon is not disturbed by transfer rumours that associate him with Liverpool, according to Eddie Howe. The manager of Newcastle United has acknowledged that the team will need to offload players prior to the transfer market closing on August 30.

Back in June, the Reds and Newcastle had been discussing a potential trade for Gordon. They decided to sign Jarell Quansah for £75 million after first rejecting a desire to sign him as part of any trade, with Joe Gomez leaving in a different £45 million deal.

But, the deal fell through when the Magpies found another way to collect money in order to meet the June 30 deadline set by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Although Gordon is still very much wanted by Liverpool, Newcastle no longer has to rush to cash in on him, thus his asking price is probably going to go up. Therefore, it is unclear if the Reds would give the Magpies another chance to prove their mettle before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

Gordon only returned to Newcastle for his preseason on Tuesday, having played for England in the squad that advanced to the Euro 2024 final.

The Magpies play host to Brest on Saturday after welcoming Girona to St. James’ Park on Friday night as part of their preseason preparations. Whether Gordon plays in either game is still up in the air.

Before the doubleheader, Howe addressed the persistent rumours about the forward’s future. He acknowledged that the England international is dedicated to the team, but he also left the door open for the player to leave in the future.

“Bruno Guimaraes, who has also been connected to moving away, is where his head is. He stated of Gordon, “He’s with Newcastle.” “Avoid interruptions. He’s doing incredibly well (in training). His attention has been solely on his work and physical well-being, with no regard for anything other than this football team.

Update on Anthony Gordon's transfer following Liverpool's proposal, with Newcastle leaving the door open to departure

“Kieran Trippier and Gordon needed a longer vacation. We had to give them a mental vacation. They returned in good condition. Very pleased with these. I’m hoping they’ll be there this weekend.”

Earlier in the summer, Howe had stated that he wanted Gordon to remain at the club.

“I’m sure he’s alright,” the Newcastle manager assured reporters. “Over the summer, we haven’t had any tense or unpleasant conversations.

“He has consistently been the Anthony Gordon who has given Newcastle everything.” He plays such a significant role in our team.

Nobody was to be lost, in our opinion. Is it really our goal to lose our greatest players? In those final few weeks, we battled mightily to make the correct choices.

We were compelled by the regulations to do things against our will. We didn’t know what was going to happen, so there was a lot of uncertainty during this incredibly trying time.

“Though it was extremely challenging, Anthony is a crucial component of our work. He requires a brief respite. He’s had a demanding season, and he’ll undoubtedly have felt some emotion throughout the Euros. I hope he’ll be prepared to depart when he returns.

With the PSR issue still looming large over the Magpies, Howe was unable to rule out any other exits in the meantime.

He said, “We’re going to have to bring in income as well.” “We’re handling that extremely carefully…

We will make every effort to correct it, but during my stay here, there will undoubtedly need to be outgoings in order to balance things out.

Liverpool’s squad is formally “full,” but seven probable departures will free up space for new signings

Liverpool's intriguing starting lineup vs Ipswich following three £153 million signings

Liverpool hasn’t made any noteworthy transfers yet, but it’s obvious that in order to add players, they will need to let go of others. With just three and a half weeks left in the transfer window, the Reds haven’t done anything particularly noteworthy thus far.

Luke Chambers, Calvin Ramsay, and Fabian Mrozek have all gone on loan, and Anderson Arroyo has signed a permanent contract with Spanish team Burgos. Regarding signings, Arne Slot has stated that sporting director Richard Hughes “is working hard on it,” and transactions are anticipated by August 30 at 11 p.m.

But, place needs to be made in the team for the additions that supporters are expecting for: a centre-back, a defensive midfielder, and an additional winger.

This is in addition to the 25 players that are currently on the roster who have to be declared senior players for the forthcoming Premier League season.

The current Liverpool Premier League squad

Goalkeeper: Alisson, Kelleher, Jaros, and Pitaluga.

Defenders: Beck, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Tsimikas, Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Phillips, Van den Berg, and Robertson.

Midfielders: Endo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones, Gravenberch, and Morton.

Attackers: Diaz, Nunez, Salah, Gakpo, Jota, and Carvalho are the forwards.

Prominent U21s: Bajcetic, McConnell, Nyoni, Doak, Gordon, Koumas, Danns, Blair; Davies, Quansah, Nallo, Bradley, Stephenson, Elliott, and Clark.

Although naming a complete 25-man senior squad requires the selection of at least eight homegrown players, Liverpool is not in danger of running out of players, but they do not currently have room for signings older than 21.

This includes the return from loan of over-age players Tyler Morton, Owen Beck, Nat Phillips, Sepp van den Berg, Fabio Carvalho, and Marcelo Pitaluga.

All six are eligible as homegrown players, but if they sign up for the next season, they will be included to the senior team.

Additionally, Ryan Gravenberch, who was on the U21 roster the previous season, needs to register.

According to the Premier League’s squad regulations, Slot, Hughes, and the team’s transfer department will have to make difficult decisions about which players to keep or let go.

Liverpool's squad is formally "full," but seven probable departures will free up space for new signings

Any player signed before January 1, 2003 would replace an over-age player, even if an infinite number of U21s can be included outside of the 25-man roster (Jaredell Quansah, Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott, and Stefan Bajcetic are among those players).

Martin Zubimendi and Anthony Gordon are two instances of such acquisitions; while they are both respectable targets, they would both need to register at the ages of 25 and 23, respectively.

Similar regulations apply to the Champions League, which emphasises the necessity of selling some players because they are more stricter when it comes to new acquisitions under the age of 21.

While there is interest in both Morton and Beck, Liverpool has already turned down offers for Van den Berg, Phillips, Carvalho, and Wataru Endo.

Liverpool has set a price tag of approximately €30 million on Fabio Carvalho, after the 21-year-old player's Southampton bid was turned down.

Most of those players will probably depart with Pitaluga, either permanently or on loan, but until agreements can be reached, a balancing act will need to be maintained.

If those players stay over the transfer deadline, Liverpool is unlikely to simply not register them, unlike Rhys Williams, Billy Koumetio, and Tom Hill, who are also overage.

It certainly makes the next three and a half weeks more urgent, as Liverpool will probably need to make some outgoings if they hope to recruit a centre-back, a defensive midfielder, and at least one more attacker.

Anthony Gordon is reportedly considering a summer transfer to Liverpool.

Anthony Gordon is reportedly considering a summer transfer to Liverpool.

The rumours linking Anthony Gordon to Liverpool don’t seem to be going away anytime soon, as speculation about where the Newcastle United winger will play football come season’s opening persists.

At the end of June, with Newcastle trying to earn money to meet Profit and Sustainability regulations—which they eventually assisted in achieving with the sales of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh—the Reds were given the opportunity to sign Gordon.

Liverpool was informed that Gordon was considered for sale, but a return to Merseyside was not realised following the Magpies’ insistence that Jarell Quansah go the other way. Since then, it has come to light that the Reds attempted to seal a deal for the English winger by offering Joe Gomez, but it fell through.

The Reds are still quite interested in Gordon, even if it’s unclear if the 23-year-old will stay at Anfield given that Mohamed Salah is about to enter the final year of his current contract and there are questions over Luis Diaz’s long-term future.

Despite playing for England at Euro 2024, Gordon has managed to keep quiet about his future in recent weeks. However, he has since provided followers with an update on social media. The forward posted a number of pictures from his summer vacation on Instagram.

A book titled “The seven habits of highly effective people” is depicted in one of Gordon’s posts, indicating the former Everton star is still committed to furthering his growth as a person and a player. Jude Bellingham, who has previously been linked to a transfer to Liverpool, was one of the people who commented on this social media post. He simply wrote a heart emoji for his England teammate without adding any comments.

The rumours linking Anthony Gordon to Liverpool don't seem

In the upcoming weeks, Liverpool might put Newcastle’s commitment to the test, even though manager Eddie Howe has lately stated his position about a possible sale. Howe remarked, “If I had three arms, I’d welcome Anthony back.”

He plays a crucial role in our work. Over the summer, we haven’t had any tense or unpleasant conversations. He has always been the Anthony Gordon who has given Newcastle everything, and I want everyone who supports us to know that.

Anthony needs a little vacation, but he’ll be refreshed and ready to go when he returns. He plays such a significant role in our team. Nobody was to be lost, we hoped. Is it really our goal to lose our greatest players? It was extremely, incredibly tough in those final few weeks, but we battled really hard to make the right choices.

“The final few weeks of June were quite challenging. We were unsure of what would happen, and there was a great deal of uncertainty. We were forced to follow the regulations even if we didn’t want to. To be clear, none of the players we sold was something we wanted to sell. Not at all. Why would we wish to offload any of our young, talented players? We’ve spent a lot of time getting to know Elliott, so it seemed terrible and went against what we all believed was the club’s culture.”

Fabrizio Romano discusses what he is "100% sure" about Anthony Gordon of Newcastle and Liverpool. Liverpool appears to be gearing

Liverpool appears to be gearing up for a big summer transfer window final month. The Reds have been eerily silent thus far, but as August approaches, it seems like something big is about to happen.

Arne Slot has now had three complete games, one of which was against elite Premier League competition, to determine what needs to be added to his Liverpool roster.

It’s possible the head coach decides he’s content with the team he has now. That would make sense after Liverpool’s players gave some strong displays against Arsenal on Thursday.

It appears, nevertheless, that Liverpool will add two or three players in the upcoming weeks. Journalist Fabrizio Romano provides an intriguing morning update on Anthony Gordon in light of this.

Anthony Gordon is still a target for Liverpool.

On Wednesday, Reds supporters had a renewed sense of excitement upon learning that Liverpool had scheduled Gordon for a medical examination in June.

The Reds and Newcastle reportedly reached an agreement on a sum of £75 million, and Joe Gomez was scheduled to leave for £45 million.

However, the Magpies terminated the agreement since Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh’s sales ultimately resolved their PSR issues.

With Gordon’s head turned by Liverpool, Gomez is currently in limbo as he gets ready to resume training, and it appears like the deal is far from done.

Fabrizio Romano discusses what he is "100% sure" about Anthony Gordon of Newcastle and Liverpool

Reds fans are holding out on any new information with patience, but transfer specialist Romano said on his Daily Briefing that Gordon is still “100%” appreciated by Liverpool.

The reporter responds, “I’m getting a lot of questions about the Anthony Gordon guys, but all I was told was that Liverpool talked about a few possible swap deals in June, not the exact values that have been mentioned elsewhere in the media.”

“I’m not sure if the reported numbers are accurate, but Gordon was wanted by Liverpool and they still have interest in him because they think he’s a great winger,” Romano continues.

“I’m positive that Gordon will continue to be appreciated; let’s see what Liverpool does this month.”

Will Anthony Gordon be signed by Liverpool?

Liverpool has been playing under a pretty relaxed schedule this summer. Gordon, though, is the one guy that has generated a lot of talk.

It seems inevitable that the Reds will end up with him when they sink their claws into a player like him and determine he is the one they want.

The primary area of contention in this situation is undoubtedly Newcastle’s desire to keep Gordon. That’s all well and good, but the Magpies also made the grave error of suggesting to the player that they would be willing to sell, even to his childhood team.

Gordon is eager to join Liverpool, and the Reds are eager to have him, so it seems likely that this will happen eventually.

That’s a whole other story, though, whether or not that happens this year. But every Liverpool fan will be praying that it is during the course of the next thirty days.

Following the confirmation of £45 million deal in Anthony Gordon's transfer package, Joe Gomez faces Liverpool exit dilemma

The Liverpool defender Joe Gomez may have to decide his future after coming dangerously close to a £45 million transfer to Newcastle United.

After his transfer to Newcastle United fell through, Joe Gomez will have to make a choice regarding his future at Liverpool this summer. Interest in the England international is currently growing. Gomez’s £45 million contract with the Reds was in principle agreed upon as part of a package that included Anthony Gordon, another England international, moving to Anfield for £75 million.

Before the June 30 deadline, the Magpies found a way to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, thus they decided against making the deal.

Gomez, who was included in England’s squad for the European Championships and is presently on vacation, is said to be well aware of the circumstances. Next week, he will return to the AXA Training Centre to begin preseason training with new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.

Newcastle hasn’t made any more moves to acquire the centre back, but Gomez has since drawn a lot of attention from other teams, with Liverpool having not yet received an official proposal.

Following the confirmation of £45 million deal in Anthony Gordon's transfer package, Joe Gomez faces Liverpool exit dilemma

The Reds are still quite interested in Newcastle winger Gordon, especially as Mohamed Salah is about to reach the last year of his current contract and Luis Diaz’s long-term future is in doubt. But now that the Magpies no longer have to rush to cash in on the player, his asking price is probably going to go up.

Gomez, who joined Liverpool nine years ago, is the team’s longest-serving current player. Despite starting just four games in his regular centre-back role last season, Gomez remained one of the Reds’ most reliable players.

And if Gomez were to depart, the Reds would have to add to their central defensive capabilities before the August 30 transfer window, since the only other centre backs in Slot’s roster who regularly play the position are Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Jarell Quansah.

Liverpool lost Joel Matip to a free transfer at the end of the previous campaign, and over the course of the next month, they could lose several more centre backs from their roster. PSV Eindhoven, Mainz, and Wolfsburg are after Sepp van den Berg; Liverpool has placed a £20 million price tag on the Dutchman, while Nat Phillips is available for £8 million. It is anticipated that Rhys Williams and Billy Koumetio, two recent graduates of the Academy, who are not currently touring the US, may depart.

The Gomez deal’s collapse isn’t thought to have anything to do with Liverpool’s decision to abandon their initial interest in Leny Yoro, as that move was seen to be outside of their purview for this summer. The only team to offer Lille’s £52 million asking price for the teenager was Manchester United.

After making an impression for Newcastle, Anthony Gordon has been linked to a move to Liverpool.

If the right opportunity presents itself, the winger would be willing to join the Reds. Anthony Gordon, the outstanding winger for Newcastle, is reportedly keen to join Liverpool this summer if the opportunity presents itself.

The former Everton player, who joined the Magpies in January of last year, has grown to be an important member of Eddie Howe’s team and has been linked to a possible transfer to Anfield. He had a fantastic season last year, tallying 11 assists and scoring 10 goals in the league.

The Telegraph claims that Gordon, a devoted Liverpool supporter, would jump at the chance to sign with the Merseyside giants should they show interest. While Gordon was playing for England at Euro 2024, it was claimed last month that he had been interested in Liverpool.

With Liverpool’s finances now stable, there’s no guarantee Newcastle will be willing to do business with them. The club has already made £67 million with the departures of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, and there are rumours that it will sell additional players throughout the summer.

Gordon scored an amazing 23 goals and provided 23 assists for Newcastle last season. The manager of the team, Eddie Howe, has previously expressed his desire to keep Gordon. Early this month, Howe declared, “I’d welcome Anthony back with three arms if I had them,” according to the Express.

He plays a crucial role in our work. Over the summer, we haven’t had any tense or unpleasant conversations.
