Trent Alexander-Arnold, a star for Liverpool, may have regretted his remarks regarding Arsenal’s mindset after the Reds’ own title hopes were dashed in a loss at Everton.

Given Liverpool’s collapse in the title race, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s analysis of Arsenal’s loss to Aston Villa earlier this month has come back to haunt him.

“Perhaps they overanalyzed the situation, as opposed to thinking that if both City and us won, we should just win and not try to separate ourselves from the group. It’s challenging because none of us have participated in a three-horse race.”

Liverpool’s chances of winning the title are all but gone less than two weeks later after they were defeated 2-0 by their Merseyside rivals. The Reds were humiliated by goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who appeared to be playing much too slowly for the most of the match.

Alexander-Arnold’s remarks against Arsenal have inevitably come back to haunt him, and many supporters have made fun of how fast he has let them go. To make matters worse, Reds fans took notice of the right-back’s awful defensive play for Everton’s second goal on social media.

Despite Alexander-Arnold’s best efforts, the Everton No. 9 was unable to beat Alisson with a powerful header after Calvert-Lewin leaped highest from a corner. His involvement to the goal was met with harsh criticism from the crowd, and a video of him failing to protect it went viral on social media.

Supporters wrote: “Defenders typically take pleasure in defending. It doesn’t appear like this person does. systematically turns off with what appears to be complete lack of concern. Does not even attempt to seem to be trying.”

“People should stop crucifying Trent here, maybe he was using his mentality to defend,” remarked another cynically, while a third said, “It gets worse every time I see it haha.”

As Arsenal and Man City’s shortcomings were revealed, Liverpool realised how it might win the title race.

Liverpool finally seen Man City and Arsenal lose last night. Although it wasn’t in the championship race, it provided a model for potential point losses.

Normal. Liverpool will not be happy on a night when both Manchester City and Arsenal fail to win.

It’s not just bad luck, of course. We’re at the business end of the Champions League, after all. It makes sense that these are some of the most difficult games to win.

Even still, it was aggravating to watch Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, who had been battling for weeks to even get very close to their Premier League rivals, Arsenal and Manchester City, respectively, find ways to damage them. The games ended in 2-2 and 3-3 results, so it was undoubtedly an entertaining evening, but Liverpool gained little from it.

The fact that the ties are still so closely tied will undoubtedly please the Reds. Arsenal and Manchester City would not have been taking the second leg of a Champions League quarterfinal lightly, regardless of the first-leg outcome. However, they now have to prepare for emotionally and physically taxing reverse matchups. While navigating a potentially more lenient Europa League run, Liverpool will hope for a hangover effect in the Premier League.

However, it needs to be seen if that benefit materialises. In particular, Manchester City is used to battling on several fronts and has proven it can combine a title challenge with European football. The squad appears well-equipped to handle the injuries, since Arsenal has had amazing luck with them this season.

The fact that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have served as a reminder that Liverpool’s title challengers are human is perhaps more significant. At most, they may have even provided league opponents with a model on how to deal some damage.

Arsenal’s next opponent is Aston Villa, where Unai Emery’s team is aiming for a top-four finish, which it might still require to guarantee Champions League participation since Bayern’s draw has kept the England vs. Germany matchup for an additional spot alive. In a similar vein, the former manager of the Gunners may attempt to harm his previous team.

Bayern looked most dangerous when it moved rapidly. Arsenal appears to quickly regain composure after moving forward in an attack thanks to Mikel Arteta’s excellent coaching, but daring, quick changes can still find opportunities to exploit gaps.

This is how Aston Villa is supposed to play. Moussa Diaby moves very quickly, and players like Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins are also quite skilled. Arsenal might be unsettled if Emery can get his team to move the ball quickly from back to front.

Daniel Sturridge says there is “no bias” in his title prediction as Liverpool battles Arsenal and Man City.

Liverpool has had a fantastic recent run of results. Having played for both Manchester City and the Reds, Daniel Sturridge has expressed his opinions on the title fight.

Liverpool’s victory versus Manchester United on Sunday would allow them to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League. On Saturday, the Reds’ opponents for the title, Manchester City and Arsenal, respectively, defeated Brighton and Crystal Palace, each with three points.

Arsenal is currently ahead once more and has a superior goal differential after Mikel Arteta’s team kept another clean sheet. Now that the season is entering its last two months, Daniel Sturridge has given his forecast on the championship race.

After rising through the ranks at City, he spent seven years at Anfield, where under Jürgen Klopp, he helped Liverpool win the Champions League in 2019.

Before the game on Sunday at Old Trafford, Sturridge said to NBC Sports, “You can’t be sure who’s going to win the title, so everyone has got a bit shaky right now.” All three are in their element and everyone is aware of the stakes.

“Man City’s background will be important, but Arsenal is also eager and wants it.” After what transpired in the previous season, most of these players are hungry and confident they can win their first title.

“Liverpool hopes to repeat as Premier League winners in Jürgen’s final season. They did so recently.” In other words, each squad really needs the intangibles. Although Man City is trying to make history, the other two have a great deal on the line.

When asked for his prediction, Sturridge responded, “I’m going to go with Liverpool.” It’s not prejudiced! My instinct is telling me that right now.”

Arsenal manager Arteta was questioned about the title push that failed to materialise in the latter months of the previous season after his team’s victory against Brighton. You can see that we are older, especially with me,” Arteta said to Sky Sports.

Liverpool transfers news: Is Mbappe a viable addition to Liverpool or Arsenal?

Could Kylian Mbappe really be a realistic target for Liverpool or Arsenal?

As usual, Kylian Mbappe’s future has been in the news, with rumours that Liverpool and Arsenal are considering the financial terms of a possible transfer. But if Mbappe does ultimately decide to leave PSG, I believe it’s important to note that it’s quite difficult to see him turning down Real Madrid.

Regardless of whether it’s Arsenal, Liverpool, or another team, if he leaves PSG, it will be to join Real Madrid. Though it’s a dream and objective of his, it’s not really equivalent to affection for someone like Liverpool or a desire to play in the Premier League. The question is whether it will happen in the coming months or later in the future.

Mbappe’s admiration for Liverpool is not new, and the player has spoken nothing but praise for them. However, he has a strong emotional bond with Real Madrid because he was raised as a supporter of the team. He has a clear career goal in mind, thus it seems inevitable that he will play for Real Madrid at some point.

Mbappe’s next chance to join Real Madrid will come at the beginning of 2024, when he will be in the last six months of his contract. Although there have been rumours that Real Madrid may set a deadline to complete this, no one is any the wiser as to what Mbappe could or might not do. That wouldn’t be very well welcomed, in my opinion, as there are still a lot of questions around Mbappe’s future and PSG’s project is just getting started with more French talent in the lineup. There is noticeable improvement being made because, despite just making it through a challenging group, they are still in the Champions League and are atop Ligue 1.

There are advantages, and PSG appears to be headed in the right direction. However, they weren’t producing the same amount of opportunities as they have this season when they had players like Neymar and Lionel Messi. Naturally, Mbappe’s future will be impacted by PSG’s success in the Champions League. After all, he wants to win the competition, having watched Erling Haaland win it with Manchester City. Therefore, PSG must address the important question of whether this current project will allow Mbappe to achieve the Champions League success he so desperately desires in the near future.

You wouldn’t consider PSG to be the favourites based on their performance in the Champions League thus far this season, but teams have occasionally emerged from the group rounds and gone on unexpected runs. I do believe that PSG will be a team that opponents will want to stay away from, and they might have a fortunate run into the closing stages. There are a lot of moving parts here, so I doubt Mbappe would be grateful if Real Madrid gave him a timetable to make a decision.

Even though I don’t think anything will be decided by January, there will undoubtedly be a lot of talk regarding Mbappe. Due to the Premier League’s evident financial power, it’s even possible that this will help teams like Liverpool or Arsenal, who will then be ready to strike if, for whatever reason, things don’t work out with Real Madrid.

However, there are other factors to consider. Mbappe has been a part of PSG and Ligue 1 for a considerable amount of time, and he is now in a position to potentially make league history in addition to club history. Perhaps Mbappe wants to leave his mark on French football so profoundly that he stays and attempts to create records that might not be surpassed for decades or even forever. The financial state of Ligue 1 is another issue to consider; new TV agreements may help matters there, which may encourage Mbappe to remain in France.

We also know that Mbappe has approved of PSG’s extensive roster purge; the team now appears to be playing as a cohesive one rather than just when Mbappe or other elite players are performing well. As we seen last night with Warren Zaire-Emery, PSG now has a generational talent who can share the load with Mbappe without taking away from the position that Mbappe plays. Other players are also capable of pulling them out of tight situations. There are several factors to consider while speculating on Mbappe’s future because he was raised in Paris and has an additional connection to PSG due to his academy education. It’s not as easy as picking a choice in the first few weeks of January, in my opinion.

Just to be clear, though, I still find it impossible to imagine Mbappe turning down Real Madrid in lieu of a transfer to the Premier League. It is my understanding that he has an unquestionable goal of playing for Real Madrid, but he would also like to try himself in the Premier League at some time in the future. These are more of preferences than goals.

To be really honest, I don’t think Mbappe would be as drawn to Arsenal as he would be to Real Madrid. Of course, Thierry Henry would be compared, but I don’t believe that history would play a role in any choice. Arsenal under Arsene Wenger was the Arsenal that kind of flirted with Mbappe when he was a bright young kid at Monaco, and Arsenal now is very different from that Arsenal.

In my opinion, Mbappe would seriously consider joining Arsenal if an offer were made and Real Madrid withdrew from the picture. Arsenal is an appealing idea right now. Although I believe Liverpool’s interest in Mbappe has been more serious and long-standing, Liverpool is also going through a transitional period, so neither club seems like the obvious choice for Mbappe right now; only Real Madrid truly fits the bill in that regard.

Though Jude Bellingham is already at Real Madrid, it’s worth considering that Erling Haaland may choose to go there as his next destination. It’s unlikely that all three of these players will be on the same squad in the future, as these players will undoubtedly be the top candidates for the Ballon d’Or in the next years. Therefore, the question is where Mbappe believes he can leave the greatest legacy.

Although I wouldn’t entirely rule out Arsenal or Liverpool, I believe those teams would trail Real Madrid in importance. Additionally, it’s not as though he has decided he’s done with PSG at this point.

In the following several weeks and months, a lot might happen, but I believe that Real Madrid’s strategy in this transaction will be the most important development. We’ll have to wait and see how they launch their next charm offensive to see whether Mbappe becomes more interested in joining Arsenal or Liverpool.

Yesterday evening, it was reported by dependable journalist David Ornstein that the Gunners had started negotiations with Ajax to sign Jurrien Timber and had even set their opening bid at £30 million. Fabrizio Romano informed the supporters that Ajax would demand more than £30m and that Arsenal would have to increase their offer. Nevertheless, it is encouraging to see that the Gunners are effective in the transfer window.

After learning that Manchester United and Liverpool had increased their interest, Mikel Arteta reportedly started these negotiations to sign Timber. Savage.

The fact that Timber is trying to join Arsenal is better for fans. According to the report, Mikel Arteta is now even more certain that he will be signed.

Furthermore, this is NOT a panic purchase, so please note that. First of all, even though the transfer window has just opened, Arsenal DO need to bring in a versatile defender. Timber fits that description, and at 22 years old, he would be the ideal addition for Arteta to compete again the following season.

Timber’s ability to switch between the defensive center and the right flank actually makes me think of Joao Cancelo. The versatility of Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and this combination would give the Gunners a lot of depth for the upcoming season.

Liverpool could probably have a completely new midfield before 2023-24. Khéphren Thuram might be one of them, but this is what the dream trio would look like.

Liverpool fail to define all the problems in midfield from last season. Clearly Jürgen Klopp doesn’t think so either, having decided to sign a forward in January to try and break the slide.

It worked, at least to some extent. No immediate fix, Cody Gakpo improved the press as he adapted to Roberto Firmino’s role and Liverpool’s results trended upwards. The real game-changer, however, was the decision to place Trent Alexander-Arnold in a hybrid role to give the midfielder that extra bite and punch he desperately needed.

Whether this solution lasts or not, Liverpool will now be keen to strengthen the midfield unit that surrounds them. This process has already been initiated by Alexis Mac Allister, but ideally a few more midfielders would be added before the end of the transfer window.

One name that keeps coming up is Chephren Thuram, and that would be a wise addition indeed. A third signing would give Liverpool the chance to field a whole new trio, but the real key for Klopp is to restore real options.

After all, while the boss technically “stands in” for Naby Keïta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, neither was reliably available. James Milner is a machine, but Liverpool clearly didn’t want to turn to the 37-year-old as a starter too often. New blood means legitimate rotation opportunities.

So who would be the ideal option to enter next to Thuram? In many ways, it depends on how you view Mac Allister. No doubt his versatility was part of his attraction to Liverpool, but presumably Klopp has an idea whether he will primarily use him as a number six or advanced number eight.

Though he has the skills to play the deeper role, he seems a bit of a waste. While that position would hamper his attacking performance somewhat, playing as a number eight would allow him to shine offensively by using his defensive prowess as part of Liverpool’s proactive drive from the front.

As for Thuram, he is undoubtedly a number eight. He can also hold his own in defence, a requirement for any Liverpool midfielder, but he won’t play as the strongest option.

With that in mind, there are good reasons for Liverpool to sign a number six specialist and questions remain over Fabinho. The problem is that no one of this type has actually been linked.

Off-piste, Martín Zubimendi could be the ideal candidate. It looks like Barcelona will fail in their efforts to sign the man hailed as the new Sergio Busquets. The 24-year-old seems very happy at Real Sociedad but Liverpool should at least ask themselves the question.

Signing someone like that would see Liverpool’s dream midfield formation really materialize. Zubimendi would come into play as an immediate starter, just like Mac Allister before him. Meanwhile, Klopp’s current options are far from terrible – they would only compete for one spot (with Thuram in the mix) rather than having to fill all three.

The likes of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and of course captain Jordan Henderson will all feel like they can do something about it. If Thiago is fit, he can be added to this list and will soar. But Klopp rightly rewards form, so maybe it’s Jones’ position that loses out in pre-season.

Therefore, at the end of a dream summer, the Liverpool midfield lineup would look like this: Zubimendi, Mac Allister, Jones. However, none of them would be safe under pressure from Fabinho, Stefan Bajčetić and Henderson in the bigger role, and Thuram, Elliott and Thiago further up. Suddenly a problem area would seem like a real selling point.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham – along with all other Premier League and EFL clubs – will be significantly affected by the latest rule change the FA has agreed with the UK government.

The summer transfer window is expected to be one of the busiest ever and English teams now have more freedom to find new players.

The FA has reached an agreement with the Home Office which allows the points-based system to be skipped for up to four re-registrations who do not meet the requirements of the international visa system.

Previously, foreign players needed a certain number of support points from the governing body to be allowed to play in the Premier League.

Now each Premier League and Championship club will have four places to get around this rule, while League One and Two clubs are only allowed two signings who don’t meet the points criteria.

The Blues have been hit by the rule before, with Andrey Santos only missing a permit by one point after his summer move from Vasco da Gama

A statement from the FA said: “The additional access will allow clubs playing in the English league to sign a number of players who do not meet current points requirements.

There is a maximum of four players available for Premier League and Championship teams and two for League 1 and 2 teams.

“The number of players a club can sign is proportional to the number of English players they play. While each club is allocated a minimum of two player places in the first season, they are allocated between zero and four depending on the season.” Number of England players to play in future seasons.

“The Premier League and EFL are also committed to working with the FA to improve the pathway for talented young English players.” This solution supports both the development of English players and the clubs’ access to foreign talent.

“The results of changes to the GBE system and enhancements to the development path are still being reviewed, which could mean that increasing the number of places allowed per club should work successfully.”

With English clubs having more freedom this summer to sign the players they want in the transfer market, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham could be looking to secure hidden treasures they might not have thought of before. As mentioned, the Blues were denied the chance to use Santos so he was sent back to Brazil on loan.

Bisseck is said to have a €7million release clause as Inter boss Simone Inzaghi looks to bolster his defensive options, which could potentially pave the way for Chelsea to revive their pursuit for Dumfires.

The Netherlands international has often been touted with a move away from the San Siro since joining the Milan side in 2021. The full-back has two years remaining on his current contract and would provide competition to Reece James, if he were to arrive at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were also said to be in the race for his signature, though no move came to fruition, with Inter said to value him at least €55million (£48.4million).

Declan Rice, who is wanted by Liverpool, is the subject of advanced negotiations with Arsenal.

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on Declan Rice, the captain of West Ham United, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Liverpool Echo].

In the Premier League, Rice has consistently stood out as a midfielder, and a move to a top club this summer seems likely.

Rice was given permission to leave the team in the summer by Hammers chairman David Sullivan after West Ham won the UEFA Conference league.

Liverpool is one of the teams vying for the player’s services, but all top have undoubtedly expressed interest. Arsenal, however, appears to be in the lead for the midfielder right now as they prepare to submit their first official offer.

The competition is on, but Arsenal undoubtedly has the upper hand due to their availability of Champions League football and secondly, their continued presence in London.

The team did a great job of bringing in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion early in June, and it is now free to pursue other targets.

We still require more high-caliber midfield depth. There is no use in sitting around and congratulating ourselves on getting Mac Allister. To strengthen our midfield, there is still a lot of work to be done.

In this summer’s transfer window, Liverpool and Manchester United might share the same thoughts.

Jurrien Timber is reportedly Erik ten Hag’s top target, so Manchester United will likely bolster their defensive unit this summer. The success of Jurgen Klopp’s subtle formation change toward the end of the season has led Liverpool to the conclusion that they are also in the market for a new central defender this summer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho moved into midfield as a result of the system change, while Andy Robertson moved into a more central position alongside Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate. While Robertson struggled to make the same impact further back, Alexander-Arnold flourished in his new position.

In order to possibly cover for Robertson in the new system, Klopp will also likely be searching for a left-sided center-back. However, Liverpool’s only concern would be the sum required to wrest him from RB Leipzig.

According to reports, the German team is looking for an offer for the center-back that exceeds £85 million, which could rule Liverpool out of the running.

Kim Min-Kae

Kim, who was named the best center-back in Serie A this past season, was essential in assisting Napoli in capturing their first league championship since 1990. He only moved from Fenerbahce to the Italian team a year ago, and at a cost of about £15 million, it is now regarded as a tremendous bargain.

At 26 years old, Kim has a little more experience than Gvardiol, but he would be available for a lot less money because of a release clause in his contract. United are thought to be the favorites to sign him, but Liverpool will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on his situation.
