Arne Slot highlights four shortcomings Liverpool had in their loss to Nottingham Forest

    Callum Hudson-Odoi

Liverpool suffered their first Premier League defeat under new manager Arne Slot, falling to Nottingham Forest at home without scoring a goal.

Arne Slot remarked that his Liverpool players had only themselves to blame for the loss to Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool had won their initial three league matches with Slot in charge without conceding. However, they were unable to score on Saturday as Callum Hudson-Odoi netted a second-half winner for Forest.

Despite Liverpool registering 14 shots compared to Forest’s five, they couldn’t beat goalkeeper Matz Sels. The Reds also controlled possession against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side but failed to capitalize on it.

Liverpool remained second in the league after Brighton’s draw with Ipswich, but they now trail Manchester City by three points following City’s victory over Brentford.

Slot expressed frustration after the match, saying, “The result frustrates the most and we cannot be happy about how the game went. It was a stop-start game and we hardly created any chances.”

He added, “We only have to look at ourselves, we have to be better. Far too many times we lost the ball around the area, it was not good enough. We have to be better with the ball.”

Slot also noted, “Our decisions and execution weren’t good enough. In general, we defended quite well, but the two fast players came on and made it difficult. We took a lot of risk, and in the end, it was a very good goal.”

Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo commended his team’s effort, saying, “Realising Liverpool are such a good team, it required a lot of effort from the players, the organisation, tackling, and the cover.” He continued, “The only way to achieve anything here is if you are organised and do everything that you can.”

Liverpool will quickly have a chance to rebound with a Champions League match against AC Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday.

In their previous away fixture against Milan, Liverpool won 2-1 under Jurgen Klopp in December 2021, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi. After the Milan game, Liverpool will return to Premier League play against Bournemouth, whom they defeated 3-1 last season, before facing West Ham at Anfield in the EFL Cup shortly thereafter.

Chelsea are said to have asked for £100m this week to sell two of their players as the summer transfer window closes.

The next window of opportunity will be much shorter and won’t take place until January, so clubs are trying to do last-minute deals and Chelsea are one of those clubs.

They’ve been ready to sell a number of players all summer if their ratings are hit, and it looks like they’ve set a rating for some players interested in these final moments of the window.

Chelsea want £100million this week to let Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah go, according to Ben Jacobs, writing for Caught Offside.

Gallagher has been a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino and it will be a big surprise when he finally leaves, but Chalobah looks much more likely, even though a £50million valuation looks high for him.

Chelsea news: Strasbourg fans continued their protests over BlueCo’s £65m takeover of the club in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Toulouse

Chelsea’s takeover of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg continues to anger the club’s supporters. The company that owns Les Bleus took a first step in building a multi-club network with the takeover of the French club in June.

BlueCo, made up of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, invested in a stake in Strasbourg at the start of the summer to acquire almost 100% of the club. BlueCo paid around £65million for their participation and the Ligue 1 outfit are in their first season under new ownership.

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira was appointed as head coach shortly after taking over, before Brazilian wonderkid Angelo Gabriel was loaned to the club for a season after signing from Chelsea earlier this summer.
It’s a decision that has fans worried.
Strasbourg Ultras expressed their dissatisfaction with Boehly & Co.’s involvement in the club by demonstrating in late June. A message appeared on the Internet saying “Boehly is not welcome”.

Well, in Sunday’s 2-0 Ligue 1 win over Toulouse, Strasbourg fans once again made their feelings clear and protested against the multi-club model. A banner in the stands read “No to timeshare”. Which translates to “No to multi-ownership”.

Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali was present at the Stade de la Meinau to see Strasbourg rise to fifth in the Ligue 1 table thanks to goals from Emanuel Emegha and Jean-Richer Bellegarde. Strasbourg chairman Mark Keller has previously said Le Racing won’t just be a development area for Chelsea prodigies in an effort to allay grievances among supporters.

“It’s not the project,” he said in an interview with L \ ‘Equipe. “We had meetings with the sports management to define the objectives. We will have more resources to be more ambitious. Loïc Désiré (Strasbourg chief scout) will discuss the players we might be interested in, if any. You also have to want to come to us.

THREE POINTS WINNER AT THE BRIDGE DINNER

Chelsea didn’t get off to the best start, but came into action after a few minutes and created some excellent chances, but were unable to convert them when Raheem Sterling fired straight at the goalkeeper from ten yards after an effort on goal. mouth. and Enzo Fernández aimed his shot over the bar.

But Sterling then took matters into his own hands, putting on a brilliant individual run, losing three or four defenders and then finishing capably with his left foot into the far bottom corner. We haven’t seen many of these goals since Eden Hazard’s departure.

Unfortunately, Chelsea subsequently failed to capitalize on that breakthrough and failed to generate any shots in the final half hour of the first half. Luton rarely threatened, but with just one goal they felt anything but comfortable. Chelsea also made a reasonably good start to the second half, with Chilwell squandering a brilliant opportunity by opting to make the extra pass rather than shoot when eight yards wide. Further chances were squandered in quick succession by Sterling and Jackson as frustration levels began to mount.

Luton then gave a frightening reminder how close the score still was despite Chelsea’s dominance, creating a huge chance out of practically nothing. Sánchez manages to take the shot and clear it, with Gusto’s desperate dive that takes the sting out of the shot but also deflects it.

Chilwell and Sterling then squandered a few more chances before Sterling finally completed a beautiful pass in the 68th minute. Sterling then continued to be a supplier for a few minutes, with Jackson touching home to secure the points.

Nkunku, Odoi and Caicedo future in Chelsea news now

Signing acknowledges that "he will do exciting things"; £60M star close to transfer; £100M star to FORCE Chelsea move.
Signing acknowledges that “he will do exciting things”; £60M star close to transfer; £100M star to FORCE Chelsea move.

Here is a compilation of the most important Chelsea news and rumors from icfootballnews that we believe you might have missed.

According to Gabby Agbonlahor, the proposed transfer of Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea to Fulham is an agreement that the player needs at this point in his career.

In the early part of this summer, CHELSEA has already lost a number of well-known players. A new home in the Premier League has been found for Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, and Kai Havertz.

N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy have all joined the Saudi Pro League, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic have both joined AC Milan. Cesar Azpilicueta, the team captain, has moved on to Atletico Madrid.

Hudson-Odoi was viewed as Chelsea’s future player a few years ago. He was a unique talent that didn’t come around often, and the team had high expectations for him.

He had fallen short of the expectations of many, though, and is now set to sign a £4 million deal to join Fulham.

    WHICH HAS BEEN SAID -.

Agbonlahor said exclusively to Football Insider: “It didn’t work at CHELSEA. Additionally, he hasn’t taken care of himself when out on loan.

“He’s a talented player, but if you don’t work hard, your value can go down, so I think Chelsea should let him go.

Hudson-Odoi will want to play every single week, and Fulham is still a great club to join. ”.

IS ODOI READY TO MOVE ON?

Signing acknowledges that "he will do exciting things"; £60M star close to transfer; £100M star to FORCE Chelsea move.
Once upon a time, the young man had a bright future, but the money got to him, and his performances began to suffer. A move away would be best for him because he needs to rekindle his career.

The young man made the right choice because he will be able to revitalize his career at Fulham and return to the exciting talent he was just a few seasons ago.

    NKUNKU SENDS A MESSAGE -.

In an interview with Chelsea fans, Christopher Nkunku said he can accomplish exciting things for the team.

Having failed to win a trophy, placing 12th in the Premier League, and failing to qualify for Europe at all, CHELSEA had one of the worst seasons in the history of the club’s fan base in 2017.

In order to once again challenge Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man United for the title the following season, the club decided to hire Mauricio Pochettino and a number of players.

And after that disappointing 12th-place finish from the previous season, summer signing Nkunku has spoken out and said he is eager to show the fans what he is capable of.

    WHAT HAS BEEN SAID.

He declared, “I want to demonstrate my abilities.”. Just getting started now. I still have to change.

It made me very happy to come here and score right away in the first game. My top priority is to adapt with the team, my teammates, and the club as a whole, and to continually get better. ’.

In this project, the team is everything, he claims.
“We want to be at the top of the table and qualify for the Champions League next year.”.
The main thing is this, and after that, I do have goals, but I keep those private.

I had a dream of playing in the Premier League. I wanted to play in this league and have the opportunity to do so throughout my career. Every great player aspired to play in this league because it is the biggest in the world. ’.

    IcFootballnews View….

Many will be hoping for another trophy and European spot for CHELSEA this year because they should be an improvement over last year and Nkunku should score a few goals. At the moment, they are too far behind Man City in terms of quality.

    CAICEDO TO FORCE MOVE  -.

Signing acknowledges that "he will do exciting things"; £60M star close to transfer; £100M star to FORCE Chelsea move.
According to reports, Moises Caicedo will attempt to persuade Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino to buy him from Brighton and Hove Albion.

In recent months, CHELSEA has been linked with Caicedo and has been attempting to complete a transfer for the midfielder.

Brighton has set a staggering asking price of £100 million for Caicedo, and Chelsea are unwilling to meet that demand. This is the problem.

However, this does not imply that personal terms have not been agreed upon because, if you believe the numerous media reports, Caicedo has already agreed to work on the Stamford Bridge project.

    WHAT IS THE LATEST -.

According to The Times, Caicedo and his agents “will seek further talks with Brighton” in an effort to “persuade the club to lower their asking price from £100 million.”.

During the summer transfer window, Caicedo reportedly wants to move to Chelsea.

    WHAT HAS BEEN SAID -.

Caicedo is reportedly eager to join CHELSEA during the summer transfer window and thinks his team would be acquiring “a top midfielder for a long time” if they were to make the move, according to Marc Cucurella.

Cucurella responded, “I think he wants to come here, I’ve read in the media a lot of times,” when questioned about Chelsea’s pursuit of Caicedo.

For me, because we played together at Brighton, I have a really good relationship with him.

We would have a top midfielder for a very long time if he came here, according to the player. ’.

WOULD HE ACTUALLY BE WORTH THE MONEY?

He is nothing special; he only had one successful season with Brighton; he won’t put up weekly goal totals or perform as well as Ngolo Kante did.

He may not be worth the trouble, and he may not even be worth the money.

Chelsea is getting closer to Mauricio Pochettino's goal with two confirmed transfers and a £38 million decision.
Chelsea transfer news: With Christian Pulisic set to leave, two more deals have been confirmed, allowing Mauricio Pochettino to capitalize on a strong market position.

Todd Boehly is assisting Chelsea with their squad purge this summer, and the most recent transactions reveal a noticeable shift in strategy.

Unlike previous iterations of Chelsea, which failed to sell their underperforming stars, the current administration has been proactive in their sales process, which has resulted in declining value, long-term wage commitments, and a bloated squad build-up.

The playing group that Mauricio Pochettino had at his disposal had to be eliminated, but the speed with which the new recruitment directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, have completed this window’s work is largely unprecedented.

In the first three weeks, eight members of the team from last year have been fired or sold, with Jorginho getting ahead of the pack in January. Even more amazing is the fact that some of the players who are most likely to leave have not yet been shipped out.

Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi will leave soon. Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will unquestionably play their football outside of Stamford Bridge next season.

Chelsea is getting closer to Mauricio Pochettino's goal with two confirmed transfers and a £38 million decision.
It will be difficult to recoup significant fees for this group of players, especially since those who have already left have either been acquired by rival teams for sizable sums of money or targeted by the new Saudi Pro League emerging market. The market and marketability for Ziyech, Lukaku, and Co. are less clear.

However, Christian Pulisic firmly belongs in the first group.
Now that he has agreed to a £18 million transfer to AC Milan, he will follow Ruben Loftus-Cheek to the San Siro this summer. Additionally, Pulisic is the most recent player to travel to Italy on a growing list of athletes.

Pulisic, who has a five-year contract at SW6 but will end it in order to complete a move that is anticipated to cost around £20 million, is seeking a new challenge after Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud. Chelsea may be eager to not only profit from but also take advantage of a positive relationship between the sides as they prepare for life without Pulisic.

It’s difficult to ignore the continued interest in Mike Maignan as teams search for a new goalkeeper this summer. football.London is aware of this admiration for the France goalkeeper, but a transfer is unlikely.

Although Maignan is one of the best players in the world at his position, he also commands a salary commensurate with his talent and is not expected to be wearing the gloves at Stamford Bridge next year. As the seasons progress and concerns about Kepa Arrizabalaga’s long-term future with the team persist, a budding partnership with Milan could assist in making a deal feasible.

Rafael Leao is another outstanding prospect that exists elsewhere. Even though Chelsea has been seriously interested in him for the past 18 months, he only recently signed a new contract at San Siro earlier this year. The recent boardroom shuffle has made an immediate exit from his position unlikely despite his enormous release clause.

The open lines of communication that have benefited the 2021 Italian Champions are something that the owners will once again be keen to take advantage of. Milan are more likely to be vigilant when it comes to selling their own players than signings Chelsea’s.

After 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s departure is confirmed, leaving Cesar Azpilicueta in tears.

After 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea's departure is confirmed, leaving Cesar Azpilicueta in tears.
Cesar Azpilicueta, the captain of Chelsea, left the club after 11 trophy-filled seasons with the Blues and signed a one-year contract with Atletico Madrid.

Cesar Azpilicueta announced his transfer to Atletico Madrid while bidding a tearful farewell to Chelsea.

After 11 years at Stamford Bridge, the Spaniard, who joined as a relatively unknown player from Marseille for just £7m, will bring the curtain down on his time there. Azpilicueta became the only player in club history to win every award available while playing in west London.

The 33-year-old has decided that the time is right to bid the club farewell as they go through a significant player turnover, but his emotional attachment to the club is evident to all as he gets ready to leave after more than 500 appearances in blue.

It’s hard to put into words what I feel, said Azpiliceuta, who broke down in tears as soon as the video started. Just saying thanks to everyone because it’s been wonderful. I hope to welcome everyone back here one day because this is my home. “.

The adaptable defender had to make a name for himself in a locker room with leaders like Petr Cech, John Terry, and Frank Lampard when he joined the team a year after the club’s Champions League triumph. The locker room was jam-packed with football and club legends. I was aware that I had to work hard to earn my place, Azpilicueta said.

Azpilicueta, who began his career at Osasuna, has signed a one-year contract with La Liga powerhouse Atletico.

After taking over as captain, the Spaniard’s departure leaves new manager Mauricio Pochettino searching for a replacement. After defeating Benfica to win the Europa League in its inaugural season, Azpiliceuta went on to repeat as champions six years later in Baku.

The Spaniard alternated between playing in a back four and a back three, switching between a variety of positions. He won his first Premier League championship in 2015, during Jose Mourinho’s second term, and his second two years later, under Antonio Conte. When Azpilicueta won his sole FA Cup, the Italian also captained Chelsea.

With the Spaniard starting as one of a back three, they won the Champions League in 2021. A few months later, he was able to celebrate victories in the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

“Cesar leaves an everlasting mark at Chelsea, as a warrior, as a champion, and as loyal Chelsea legend,” the club’s chairman Todd Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said on the club’s website. He has been the club’s standard-bearer for more than a decade and has shown everyone what is necessary to succeed consistently.

Coaches and former and current teammates have confidence in him to serve as captain and set an example for the team. We are appreciative of what he has done, both on and off the field, to be so impeccable. Cesar is always welcome to return to Stamford Bridge for that and a lot more. “.

This summer, with Chelsea concentrating on Moises Caicedo, Arsenal and Liverpool have both surpassed the Blues in the race to sign highly regarded Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

In the race to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton this summer, Arsenal and Liverpool have both edged out Chelsea.

football.London has learned that Chelsea and Saints had preliminary discussions about a potential transfer for the Belgian midfielder last month, but interest has reportedly waned recently. With Manchester City having a £40 million buy-back option that becomes available next summer, Southampton is asking for £50 million for Lavia.

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is still a target for Chelsea, but at the moment, at least in terms of the midfield, they are focused on Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian international, who has verbally agreed to move to Stamford Bridge on personal terms, has recently reopened negotiations with the Seagulls.

Following the Moises Caicedo talks, Chelsea experiences transfer setbacks with Arsenal and Liverpool.Chelsea’s challenge, however, is reaching a deal with Brighton, who have a reputation for being shrewd negotiators when it comes to offloading their star players in recent transfer windows. Caicedo’s desire to leave the team was discussed with Roberto De Zerbi throughout the season, but Brighton are asking for around £80 million for him, and Chelsea do not want to pay that amount as a one-time fee.

As they have done over the past 12 months with players like Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Wesley Fofana, the Blues would prefer to structure the deal in a different way. When negotiating with Brighton, the residents of west London would want to add extras and potential bonuses.

Chelsea’s attention has been directed toward acquiring Caicedo, so their interest in Lavia has been put on hold—at least for the time being. Following the Saints’ relegation to the Championship, both Liverpool and Arsenal have recently spoken with Southampton to discuss the future of the Belgian international.

The Gunners intend to make a move for Lavia in the upcoming weeks while also completing the more than £100 million acquisition of Declan Rice. Ahead of the upcoming season, Liverpool, who has already added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to their midfield ranks, is also looking to add Lavia.

Football was informed by a source.
This is bad news for Chelsea as it follows reports from London that negotiations with Liverpool regarding a move to Anfield have “gone well” lately. Although Chelsea hasn’t been completely eliminated from the running, the Lavia deal is becoming less and less likely as time goes on because Caicedo is now the center of attention.

The risky Mauricio Pochettino transfer "agreed," but Thomas Tuchel's decision "costs" Chelsea $88 million.
Chelsea transfer news: The most recent media briefing with rumors and reactions to stories on Callum Hudson-Odoi and Angelo, two new hires.

    Chelsea pleased to sell Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi had a poor loan experience at Bayern Leverkusen, so Chelsea is willing to sell him this summer.
Last year, the 22-year-old almost quit the team permanently but decided against it to try his luck in the Bundesliga.

The former academy starlet, who only scored one goal during his season away, is no longer considered to be a part of the plans and has one year left on his contract. Nottingham Forest and Fulham, two Premier League teams, as well as AC Milan, are reportedly interested, according to the Guardian.

West Ham is mentioned as an alternative, but they currently have other priorities. Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Edouard Mendy have all been sold by Chelsea, and the club is now attempting to secure the highest possible sum for Hudson-Odoi.

football.London declares: If Chelsea could turn back time to the winter of 2019. Bayern Munich made Hudson-Odoi an offer of £70 million ($88 million), and the Blues could hardly refuse. They either received a huge sum of money for a player at the beginning of his career or they kept him and raised one of the game’s rising stars.

     “New Neymar” agrees deal

The risky Mauricio Pochettino transfer "agreed," but Thomas Tuchel's decision "costs" Chelsea $88 million.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Angelo, a Santos teen, and Chelsea have reached an agreement. After 129 senior games, even as a young player, the 18-year-old saw his contract in Brazil enter its final 18 months and is now set to try out for preseason with the Blues.

According to reports, Barcelona will have 48 hours to match the reported £12.9million ($16.4million) fee being paid for his services. The Catalan powerhouses are reportedly not interested, so he can now essentially be thought of as a Chelsea player.

He will first have the chance to win over Mauricio Pochettino during preseason for the 2023–24 season, before talk of a loan is brought up.

There have been numerous instances of unproven Brazilian players joining Chelsea over the years, says London.football. For many, arriving from Santos as a teenager is ten years too late.

Just the optics of this move make me think of Neymar. There is a lot to be excited about as a player who has a sizable number of games under his belt for his young age.

Concerning is the absence of experienced forwards at this point. Since Tammy Abraham’s departure in 2019 for another club, many players have tried, but none have succeeded in scoring goals.

Expecting Angelo to step in and fill the void in this manner would be unrealistic.

Angelo, however, presents a fresh option to be taken into account moving forward after the club signed Andrey Santos earlier this year and incorporated a new wave of South American talent.

After Mason Mount, another great’ 24-year-old is eager to leave Chelsea now
Christian Pulisic is said to be frustrated at Stamford Bridge and desperate to leave Chelsea – despite claims Mauricio Pochettino wants to work with him.

Well, the USA international endured a miserable 2022/23 season, making just eight Premier League starts while Chelsea finished 12th.
    Therefore, Pulisic wants out.

The Evening Standard understands Chelsea’s number 10 in west London is no longer happy and is determined to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline.

It comes after Calciomercato claimed Pochettino likes Pulisic and hopes to work with him at Chelsea. The American – who was once described as “great” by Jürgen Klopp – joins Mason Mount and wants to leave Stamford Bridge.

The England international is said to have no plans to sign a new contract with Chelsea with his current tenure set to expire in 12 months due to strong interest from Manchester United.

Chelsea set to take hit on pulisic

A squad overhaul usually involves some tough decisions and Chelsea have accepted that defeats have to be made.

The Mirror believes Chelsea are happy to take £34m for Romelu Lukaku – who cost £97.5m in 2021 – and now, according to L’Equipe, the Blues are open to just £17m for Pulisic.

This would represent a £41m loss on the £58m Chelsea spent to sign the 24-year-old from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019.

That’s well over £100m lost on those two players alone, although it would be foolish for Chelsea to believe anyone will pay £97.5m and £58m for Lukaku and Pulisic at this point, given their poor form in the last times.

However, Chelsea can’t keep disgruntled players at Stamford Bridge, so it’s time for the Blues to cut their losses on some fringe options.
