Hailed as an “outstanding” player by Breaking The Lines, Doucoure is a perfect match for what Liverpool are looking for in a fourth and final midfielder to sign this window.

And this latest update on the Reds’ negotiations with Palace is encouraging as a deal for Doucour looks more realistic than many had initially imagined. What does this week hold for Liverpool? Now for action on the pitch, the Reds travel to Newcastle United on Sunday for what is perhaps one of the toughest away games they have faced in the Premier League this season.

Newcastle beat Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Champions League football race last year, but Liverpool were one of only two sides, alongside Arsenal, to win at St James’ Park Last year.

The Magpies opened the season with a 5-1 win over Aston Villa but lost to champions Manchester City on matchday two, scoring just one shot on target in a 1-0 defeat. Off the pitch, there could be more developments on the transfer front for Liverpool. Last week the club signed defensive midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart for the third time this summer, but Klopp said he would explore the market further before the September 1 deadline.

Liverpool must decide whether to formally appeal midfielder Alexis Mac Allister’s red card against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Mac Allister was sacked for a challenge against Ryan Christie, but according to replays the decision may have been a little harsh.

Unless Liverpool appeal or try anything unsuccessful, the company will be three games without one of their big summer signings. That would no doubt be a concern, but the good news for Klopp is that his alternative options are starting to come into play again.

After a spell on the sidelines, Stefan Bajčetić made a surprise return from injury against Bournemouth on Saturday, while Endo made his Liverpool debut as a substitute.

Dream next Liverpool transfers as “everything can happen” with Cheick Doucouré’s addition and the $27 million Klopp deal.

Wataru Endo has officially been acquired by Liverpool, but more deals are needed. Two areas still need to be addressed, as Jürgen Klopp has acknowledged.

In his press conference, Jürgen Klopp used a reasonable voice. Wataru Endo could actually play a significant role in the upcoming season, so the Liverpool manager didn’t want to downplay his acquisition, but he also didn’t want to rule out additional transfer activity.

While Klopp admitted he had already been surprised more than once this summer, he effectively dismissed the idea of additional outgoings and was very receptive to incoming business. In the final two weeks before the deadline, he said, “everything can happen,” with Liverpool continuing to “look.”.

That ought to be fairly obvious in many ways. After all, FSG had just recently proposed paying Moisés Caicedo $140 million (£110 million/€127 million). Although it was obviously a failure, there seemed to be an implied recognition of a critical area of need. It’s hard to imagine why that wasn’t the original plan if it could be adequately met for the better part of $120m less.

Liverpool hasn’t, however, ever just thrown money around for the sake of it. Endo is deserving of a great deal of respect, and Klopp seems genuinely willing to continue the season with the Japan captain at the position of starting number six. Any opportunity must be the right one.

But regardless of whether they fall short of the ideal standard, Liverpool must ultimately work to close the best deals possible during the remaining time in the window. There is obviously money available to spend, but more business is necessary to give Klopp a legitimate chance to compete.

Even though midfielders have been the only players transferred so far, that is still a position that needs improvement. In a perfect world, Liverpool would bring in an additional six players as partners as well as a rotational option for Endo.

Even though Liverpool undoubtedly took inspiration from the “inversions” at Manchester City and Arsenal, the strategy is actually quite different. Trent Alexander-Arnold is not Oleksandr Zinchenko or John Stones, so despite the fact that he might appear to form a double pivot with the number six on paper, in practice he is tucking into a role that is much more akin to the number eight or even number 10 in order to make use of his generational creative skills.

Playing two genuine defensive midfielders would be a viable option, especially if Liverpool’s defense continues to be a weakness in their game. Alexander-Arnold would have real freedom to play a role that was very loosely defined, drifting around in the spaces next to Dominik Szoboszlai or Alexis Mac Allister, with Endo playing alongside someone like Cheick Doucouré.

The Evening Standard identified Doucouré as Liverpool’s top target in the midfield, and he does appear to be the best option among the rest. He could be developed under Klopp as the long-term Fabinho replacement while sharing the load with Endo for at least the next couple of years. He is already at a high Premier League standard and has plenty of room to improve.

That would essentially organize the midfield for Liverpool. An additional number eight would be ideal if I were really greedy, but that seems unlikely at this point, especially since the search for a new center-back should take priority.

Having spent the majority of his career playing in the defense, Endo has once more possibly lessened the urgency of the search. However, Liverpool needs to find a left-sided specialist who can take Andy Robertson’s place in some games immediately and who also has the potential to replace Virgil van Dijk in the future.

That is a very difficult request. However, Arthur Theate, a name that has only recently gained notoriety (via L’Équipe), checks a lot of the right boxes. At 23, he is another who Liverpool could develop while immediately adding depth.

Football Transfers estimates Theate’s value at $27 million (£21 million/€25 million) using its proprietary “expected transfer value” tool. Liverpool might anticipate Rennes to demand more given the state of the market. But any deal in that area would be a wise business move.

It’s important to remember that adding Theate and Doucouré to the roster would push Liverpool over the limit in terms of foreign players, which is an issue that cannot be entirely avoided. However, there is always the option of not registering someone, for instance Adrián, if the ideal homegrown solution does not emerge.

Anything can happen, as Klopp points out. But those two transactions would cap off a wholly satisfying transfer window for Liverpool, positioning the team for the present and the future.

Chelsea may have diverted Liverpool’s moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in defensive midfield, but the Blues could have given Jürgen Klopp’s side a hand in chasing down Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure. The Eagles don’t want to lose too many key players this summer, but having signed Michael Olise to another lucrative deal following a turbulent negotiation process with Chelsea, they may be forced to sell Doucoure for a reasonable price to recoup cash.

Olise looked all but ready to join Chelsea after agreeing personal terms earlier this month and triggering the winger’s £35m release clause. However, Palace stepped in and re-signed Olise to a new four-year contract worth £100,000 a week, more than double the £45,000 a week salary he earned under his previous contract. The Eagles are said to be furious at the way the Blues have handled matters and are considering taking their rivals to court over an “illegal approach”. It is thought that the threat of legal action may have forced Chelsea to withdraw from the deal.

“It’s the best possible news we could have. I was worried – it’s always worrying when a club of Chelsea’s stature shows interest in a player and people will suggest that moving to them might be the best solution,” said manager Roy Hodgson .

“I always hoped it wouldn’t be like this and that Michael realizes that the future for him here at such a young age is very bright and that we can help him move to another level very quickly. “I am delighted for the club and have to congratulate Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman on the fantastic job they have done in convincing them that, even if there was pressure from outside, this is your place and this is where we think you will progress the way right and you will develop in the right way.’”

While they have managed to keep Olise, the same cannot be said for Doucoure, who tops Liverpool’s shortlist. Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid for the 23-year-old and will have no problem meeting Palace’s £60m valuation of the player who showed the hand of him in their dazzling pursuit of Caicedo.

The Eagles understand Liverpool’s interest in the Mali international is genuine, but have yet to receive an official offer from the Merseyside side. The Crystal Palace is open to the sale of the Doucoure, but only at the right price.

Liverpool need a new defender in the center of the park following the exits of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner this summer. The Reds recently brought in Wataru Endo from Stuttgart for £16m to fill the void, but are also looking for another defensive midfielder to add even more depth to the position.

Liverpool ‘won’t use money as excuse’ – despite influence of Chelsea and Saudi Arabian transfer

Jurgen Klopp has insisted Liverpool will not use the money as an “excuse” in the transfer window, despite growing influence and cash flow from Chelsea and Saudi Arabia.

The big stories this week centered on Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea in deals for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who have both opted to join the London club.

The Reds have responded by signing Wataru Endo, but this has only fueled the fire in many quarters when it comes to the club’s appeal, something Klopp has rejected.

Klopp often provides glowing answers to questions at his press conferences and Friday was no different after being asked if the club is having trouble signing players this summer.

“I’m not sure if it has anything to do with Liverpool, to be honest. More difficult to dress? No,” Klopp insisted.

“Everything is more difficult, everything. There are reasons, you all know them. You’ve probably written about this before, these stories aren’t what I have to say about them. “But it’s really difficult, there are a lot of things that have changed since last year.”

Alluding to Chelsea’s never-ending transfer cases, Klopp continued: “Some clubs do it differently and nobody understands 100 per cent how it works.”

“As a normal club it’s really difficult to follow them. We just watch what they do and that’s fine, not my problem. I don’t blame anyone for what it is.”

Klopp also cited Saudi Arabia’s growing power to throw “infinite sums of money” at players making life “more difficult”, but that played no part in convincing a target to move to Anfield.

“Also, Saudi Arabia is not making it easy. Our window ends on August 31st [note: it’s September 1st] and their window is still open, so for players who aren’t happy, they will come back.

“It’s okay if there’s another league that’s growing, it’s football, that’s fine. We don’t have the right to say it’s not allowed, China has tried, the United States could still try. No problem.

“But infinite money creates problems, that’s how it is. We sit here and [think] ‘what can we do now’. It would be nice if someone could come up with a solution, some rules – I don’t know.

“Yes, it has become more difficult, but not to convince players to go to Liverpool,” he continued.

“One hundred percent, if you called a million players, they would come right away. We just have to make sure you pick the right one, our timing is different from others. “We can’t just spend and watch later, that’s the way things are.
It is good.

“I’m here and I’m very happy with the transfer window right now, our transfer window.

“I know what happened last week, I know what football fans are like and I know they would rather bring in a £110m or £150m player, and your club can do it.

“This is quite nice, but in the end the pitch is the same size, the player doesn’t grow with the money he costs, it’s quite the opposite. “I’m really happy for the moment. We keep looking, we keep looking.

“We will do everything we can to make the best decisions for this club and we won’t use a second of money or anything as an excuse. We just do it with everything we have. That’s the idea. “We do it our way, we are here and we are ready to fight.”

With the “efficient” complete package transfer alternative, Liverpool can forget about Moisés Caicedo.

Liverpool can now seek out the ideal transfer replacement after missing out on Moisés Caicedo, who would be a better overall choice than most people realize.

It’s not all bad news that Liverpool missed out on Moisés Caicedo’s transfer, though. There are still many fish in the sea, as the saying goes. Furthermore, the club still has plenty of time to pursue the holding midfielders it wants from the market.

Cheick Doucouré is one of the biggest and best holding midfielders still theoretically available to Liverpool. The 23-year-old Malian international had a standout Premier League debut season with Crystal Palace, and he has the ability to join Liverpool and improve the team right away.

The Athletic has reported that there have been rumors of transfer requests from Anfield. Additionally, Mamadou Wad, the head of JMG, Doucouré’s former academy, was recently interviewed by Liverpool . com and gave positive testimonials about his former protege.

He comes across as a role model both on and off the field. He is the kind of player who has a keen sense of the game and excels at disrupting the play of the opposition. What Liverpool currently needs in a player is exactly that kind of player.

Doucouré is more complex than first appears, though. He is more than just a playbreaker and skilled game reader. He has many layers.

Doucouré is quite skilled with the ball thanks to his development in one of the top African academies, which has produced elite technical midfielders like Yaya Touré, Yves Bissouma, and Amadou Haidara.

Actually, when he first entered the academy, Doucouré even played further forward for JMG.

“At first, he began to play up front, where he was an extremely effective striker who frequently scored goals and defeated opponents. We moved him further back because, as Wad told Liverpool.com, “he put in a lot of work to come back and help his team in defensive situations as well.

It is understandable that Doucouré didn’t really have the opportunity to show off his passing prowess while playing for Crystal Palace, a very defensive-minded team that finished in the bottom eight of the Premier League in terms of passes completed. A very different picture emerges when one takes a look back at his time at Lens.

The image of Doucouré is one of a more well-rounded player if we think back to the season before he joined Palace. He was among the top five U23 midfielders in Ligue 1 for forward passes per 90, averaging 15 points per 49 passes, and fourth for passes into the final third, averaging 8 points per 36 passes, in that season of 2021–2022.

Furthermore, among U23 midfielders who averaged at least 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes, Doucouré had the highest dribble completion rate (63.64%), making him stand out for his carrying of the ball as well.

Naturally, if he transferred to Anfield, Doucouré’s job would primarily be defensive. The more well-rounded Lens version of the player would go to Liverpool because they possess the ball much more often than Crystal Palace.

He is worth a shot given that extra “bonus.”. In the long run, he might have just as much of an impact at Anfield as Caicedo, even though his name might not garner quite as much excitement.

Roy Keane compares Liverpool to Man Utd, Newcastle, Arsenal, and Chelsea in the top four competition.

Liverpool secured a hard-fought point in Sunday’s Premier League opener after being held 1-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It was an action-packed game as both teams were denied a goal and Liverpool had to register a second-half VAR penalty.

It’s been just one game and the Reds have already had heart-pounding drama. We can only expect this season to continue as it started, with many twists and turns, especially when it comes to fighting for the top 4.

Last season, Liverpool struggled to maintain consistent form and failed to qualify for the Champions League. They finished fifth after the last game of the season, which was canceled by Manchester United and Newcastle, both certainly another challenge.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Roy Keane admitted he sees another triumph for Manchester City at the top of the table, but says there is “a lot of competition” when it comes to battling for a top-four finish.

“I said before, unless they really drop out and get seriously injured or lose that hunger, other teams have a chance, but I don’t see anyone competing with Manchester City. I think United will be in the top four, look at L ‘Arsenal have improved, look at Newcastle, Villa will respond well [to defeat].

“Liverpool, Chelsea – there’s a lot of competition, but for a lot of these teams it’s the top four and that includes United. Newcastle are definitely in contention for the top four. I think they’ve gotten stronger, their recruiting has been great.”

Immediate rivals Liverpool have strengthened considerably in the transfer market this summer, making plenty of signings. The Reds got off to a good start after signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but the sudden departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left Jurgen Klopp struggling to sign replacements for the now decadent and worrying midfielder.
