Two players are emerging as Liverpool’s undroppables, with Arne Slot having a definite transfer priority.

    Slot facing transfer reality

Ian Doyle provided analysis following Liverpool’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on Monday.

After fifteen minutes of regular time elapsed, it became evident that this was not the most crucial match of Liverpool’s season. However, of the four replacements made by Jurgen Klopp in one go, Wataru Endo’s exit was the one that finally cost the visitors a well-deserved win.

Even if Endo hadn’t had the best of starts, he played a crucial role in Liverpool taking control of the game and offering more protection to a defence that had been increasingly exposed in the first half.

But with the Japanese out of the picture, Alexis Mac Allister—who already came off as jaded and subpar—was forced to put an end to Villa’s late push, with unavoidable consequences. The Argentine was penalised for a poor pass that led to the opening goal for the home team and lost the ball for Villa’s second goal, which changed the game’s momentum.

However, Mac Allister isn’t a defensive midfielder by trade, even if he performed excellently for the majority of the first half of the season. Not all games can be played by Endo. Furthermore, with Stefan Bajcetic—an underutilised substitute in this instance—still in the early stages of his promising career, new manager Arne Slot will be aware of precisely where his team needs to be enhanced right away.

Despite all the hype this season about wasted opportunities, Liverpool has only scored one goal fewer than their whole 2019–20 title campaign with one game still to play. However, in all competitions, there has only been one clean sheet in fifteen attempts.

The Reds must return to their foundation in order to make the necessary progress towards contending for the championship, beginning with the appointment of a new, legitimate number six.

    Seasonal regret haunts the duo

Two players are emerging as Liverpool's undroppables, with Arne Slot having a definite transfer priority.

Both Harvey Elliott and Cody Gakpo would definitely prefer if the season was just getting started, but Alexis Mac Allister, who is clearly tired, would likely be among those relieved that it is almost over.

The two had been among the Reds’ top players over the last six weeks, along with Andy Robertson, who was out due to a minor injury.

And they all had a significant influence on this game. Elliott’s goal contributions have significantly improved since the start of the year, and he has continued in that vein. Emiliano Martinez of Villa mishandled his cross within ninety seconds, but Elliott’s accurate dead-ball pass allowed Jarell Quansah to score his first Premier League goal ever.

Intermittently, Gakpo reached 16 goals for the year by finishing a cross from Joe Gomez, the adaptable defender who once again did a commendable job filling in for Robertson at left back.

However, Gakpo’s dash to the finish line and Elliott’s spectacular finish will undoubtedly give Slot a lot to think about. They’re demonstrating that they belong in the upcoming Liverpool age.

    Villa Park the ideal location

The conclusion of Jurgen Klopp’s trip abroad at Villa Park was entirely fitting. After all, Liverpool has made some of its most iconic, puzzling, and downright frustrating road trips in the last ten years at the stadium.

The most notable of them was the thrilling victory in November 2019 that put the Reds on their path to their first championship in thirty years thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Robertson in the dying seconds to earn a 2-1 victory.

On the opposite end of the scale, less than a year later, there was the hilarious yet expensive 7-2 beating behind closed doors. In addition, there was the League Cup quarterfinal match in December 2019 that Liverpool was forced to play without their senior team, and the FA Cup third round match against Villa the following season saw Villa play without their first-choice players due to the coronavirus.

Even though third place was assured when title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal triumphed over the weekend, there was nothing at stake for the visitors, but this match will go down in history anyway.

All that remains is Anfield on Sunday. People, get your tissues ready—this is going to be emotional.

Liverpool supporters laud the forward's "best game" as Cody Gakpo demonstrates where he belongs.

Cody Gakpo enjoyed himself throughout the match against Tottenham, contributing a goal and an assist in a much better effort that captured the interest of the Liverpool supporters.

The 24-year-old’s season has been erratic, and Klopp has acknowledged several times that by starting the Dutchman in midfield, he contributed to the player’s loss of confidence.

But against Tottenham, we witnessed a self-assured player who delighted in trading places with Luis Diaz, spending equal amounts of time in the midfield and on the left side.

He was especially good at wide left for PSV, and he scored Mohamed Salah’s first goal against Spurs with a perfectly placed ball there.

The second half saw Gakpo score a headed goal of his own after a much-improved performance for the No. 18, which was well-received by Liverpool supporters.

Gakpo has been regarded as the fifth-choice forward since joining Anfield, but it will be interesting to watch how and if things alter under Jurgen Klopp.

However, Gakpo demonstrated his abilities on Sunday, and this showing should help him in the remaining two games before the Euros and a crucial preseason.

Arne Slot is expected to be appointed by Liverpool to succeed Jürgen Klopp. If he keeps a certain peculiarity, that may be bad news for Fantasy Premier League managers.

Jürgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, was once the darling of managers in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL). His renowned front three, which featured a very little rotation of his prolific star attackers, was the stuff of folklore for fantasy football fans.

That was in contrast to Pep Guardiola’s tendency towards tweaking and tinkering, which the FPL community has dubbed “Pep Roulette.” In the most recent game, the Manchester City manager completely removed Phil Foden from the roster, further infuriating fans.

In this sense, Klopp has undoubtedly moved closer to Guardiola over the years. However, Mohamed Salah has essentially been a banker to play during his time at Liverpool, as shown by the recent incident in which he was made to watch from the bench for 75 minutes, and he has produced incredibly consistent returns in the FPL over that time.

Similarly, despite Klopp’s superb usage of his team, mainstays like Trent Alexander-Arnold have mostly escaped rotation. If fitness permits, someone who has owned Virgil van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, and Salah in the Fantasy Premier League for the past few seasons won’t have done too badly.

What will therefore be altered by Arne Slot’s possible appointment? It appears that he has a certain habit that FPL managers won’t be too fond of.

We all know that Slot loves wingers. That’s not a bad thing, of course, and if players like Cody Gakpo and Luis Díaz achieve new heights under the Dutchman, they might be players to keep an eye on in the FPL.

However, Slot’s propensity to substitute Liverpool wingers, often in large numbers, at the hour mark would deter managers from signing any of them. In the First Premier League, the 60-minute mark holds great significance as it is the time at which both the clean sheet and second appearance are guaranteed, and premature withdrawals are a major cause of annoyance.

“At the beginning of the season I asked Dennis (general manager Te Kloese) to add more wingers because you can’t expect every winger to play every game and outplay the opponent,” Slott told The Athletic last summer. “That’s why they get swapped most often.”

This season, he has fulfilled his promise. FPL nightmares have been created by Luka Ivanusec, who at one point in the midst of the season played 45, 58, 10, 59, 54, and then 57 minutes in back-to-back league games.

It’s not only him. There have only been five instances of Ivanusec, Igor Paixão, and Yankubah Minteh playing the entire ninety minutes. While rotation is nothing new, Slot stands out for his somewhat robotic substitutions among his wingers.

In addition, those three players have combined for 20 goals and 13 assists, demonstrating why FPL managers would prefer to have Slot wingers on their team when he plays for Liverpool. Determining who will start and who will continue, however, seems like it might be a lottery.

According to Liverpool.com, in light of Slot’s preferences, even Salah—a longtime must-own in FPL—looks a little less tempting. Will the Egyptian, 31, indeed be receiving complete 90s on a regular basis? It’s challenging to see.

However, in terms of complementing his tactical style, Slot is inheriting a really strong team. FPL managers will be keenly monitoring the pre-season to see if anyone rises up as the key source of goals. Salah, Díaz, Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and perhaps Darwin Núñez might all present alternatives in wide areas.

Arne Slot eschewing Klopp's strategies for Liverpool might lead to a heated match between four stars.

Following the completion of a compensation deal with Feyenoord, Arne Slot will take over at Liverpool.

Arne Slot is expected to replace Jurgen Klopp’s preferred 4-3-3 system when he takes over at Liverpool. The departing Feyenoord manager, who is anticipated to take over as Reds manager following a £9.4 million settlement between the two clubs, will have to decide on an offensive midfield player who is essential to his team’s style of play.

Under Klopp, who told Liverpool late last year that he would be leaving at the conclusion of the campaign, a three-man midfield has been the norm. Overall, the method has worked well for the Reds; among the many honours earned during Klopp’s nine years on Merseyside are titles in the Premier League and the Champions League.

However, Slot has established himself with a 4-2-3-1 formation, which is expected to change Liverpool’s midfield composition. Two holding midfielders and one attacking midfielder, or No. 10, could be chosen in place of a somewhat flat trio in the middle of the park.

Any team needs the position since it acts as a bridge between the striker, the wingers, and the deep midfielders. Despite Liverpool’s abundance of skill, there isn’t a surefire replacement.

However, four Reds players might believe they have a chance. Since joining from PSV Eindhoven following the 2022 World Cup, Cody Gakpo has been inconsistent, as Klopp has often used him in a variety of positions.

Arne Slot eschewing Klopp's strategies for Liverpool might lead to a heated match between four stars.

Although the Dutchman has played as a midfielder, winger, and central striker, he continues to struggle to break into the starting lineup. The 24-year-old has only made 13 Premier League starts so far this season, but the opening in offensive midfield may increase his chances of seeing a lot of action.

As an experienced Dutch football player, Slot will be well-versed in Gakpo’s abilities at the No. 10 position. However, he can have competition from other talented players for the starting position.

In his debut season at Anfield, Alexis Mac Allister has been a huge success. With the ability to play at the base of midfield or in a more forward-thinking role, the World Cup champion can be a successful No 10 in Slot’s configuration. However, if the new Liverpool manager decides to take a different approach, he could also find a place in the double pivot.

Dominik Szoboszlai, who joined from RB Leipzig for £60 million last summer, has also performed admirably. Although Klopp has requested the Hungarian to play deeper this season, he demonstrated in the Bundesliga that he is a deadly shooter and a valuable addition to an offensive midfield.

Harvey Elliott is a fourth contender vying to unseat the three wealthy stars. The 21-year-old England youth international hasn’t yet made a name for himself on the team sheet, but after Slot looks over the full roster, he might be impressed by his close control and skill in confined spaces.

Jürgen Klopp might make five changes when Liverpool plays West Ham, with Cody Gakpo expected to make his comeback.

When Liverpool plays West Ham United, they might make a few changes to their starting lineup. After losing to Everton in the derby, the Reds need a response.

After Liverpool’s dismal performance in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday, Jürgen Klopp will think about making a number of changes to his team when they play West Ham. With a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park, Sean Dyche’s team dealt a serious blow to Liverpool’s chances of winning the championship.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goals gave the Toffees all three points, and Arsenal currently leads the Reds by three points at the top of the league. With two games remaining against Liverpool before travelling to Brighton on Thursday, Manchester City is just behind in third place.

Liverpool has four games left under Klopp, so their attention will now be on winning back against West Ham. After the derby loss, Klopp’s team may make significant changes, therefore it’s another early kickoff.

Ibrahima Konaté had a forgettable evening at Goodison Park, so the defence did not exactly shine. During the game, Jarell Quansah took his spot, and the young Reds player may make a comeback to the starting lineup.

Jürgen Klopp might make five changes when Liverpool plays West Ham, with Cody Gakpo expected to make his comeback.

Andy Robertson might also be substituted following a subpar showing. Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas are both viable choices, but because of his offensive prowess, the Greek international might be chosen.

In another instance, Wataru Endō, a Japanese international, was brought on as a second-half substitution to replace the more aggressive Dominik Szoboszlai. In addition to Harvey Elliott, who might possibly enter the game, Liverpool will need him to guard against West Ham’s offensive options after missing his protection against Everton.

Given his previous form, Cody Gakpo would have probably started at Goodison Park for Liverpool. Klopp did, however, clarify that he would not be involved in his partner’s pregnancy. If the Dutchman makes it back into the team, he will look to start against West Ham, since Darwin Núñez isn’t doing well enough to hold his spot.

Portuguese striker Diogo Jota is still out after sustaining another injury last weekend during the 3-1 victory against Fulham. Jota is expected to be sidelined for approximately two weeks due to a knee ailment that he only recently recovered from, while Conor Bradley is still not back.

A possible starting lineup for Liverpool may be: Alisson; Elliott, Mac Allister, Endō; Gakpo, Salah, Díaz; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Tsimikas.

According to Liverpool.com; Liverpool has had a difficult week. A derby defeat is never good, but this one will hurt even more because of the ramifications for the title battle. Liverpool’s only option is to win its remaining games and hope that City and Arsenal make mistakes. It must return to winning ways against West Ham in order to round off the Klopp era with a flourish.

  • When Jurgen Klopp contacted, I was on the verge of joining Man United, but I couldn’t turn down a transfer to Liverpool.

When Jurgen Klopp contacted, I was on the verge of joining Man United, but I couldn’t turn down a transfer to Liverpool.

When Jurgen Klopp contacted, I was on the verge of joining Man United, but I couldn't turn down a transfer to Liverpool.

Manchester United was taken aback when one of Erik ten Hag’s top targets was taken advantage of by Liverpool.

Cody Gakpo has maintained that joining Liverpool instead of Manchester United was the right decision. In the summer of 2022, the 24-year-old forward was strongly connected to a move to Old Trafford; however, a deal fell through, and six months later, he signed with the Reds.

The attacker said he felt left hanging when United manager Erik ten Hag decided to spend £86 million to sign Antony from Ajax in the last few hours of the transfer window. While the Liverpool player has been instrumental in helping Jurgen Klopp win the title, the United great has found it difficult to get his team into the top four this season.

Gakpo, whose Anfield contract expires in 2028, has contributed three assists and three goals in his previous eight Premier League appearances. The Reds manager has depended on the Netherlands international to take some of the pressure in front of goal while Mohamed Salah recovers from an injury.

Thanks to Gakpo’s outstanding efforts, Liverpool has been able to hold onto the top spot in the standings. But if the former PSV Eindhoven talisman had waited to sign with United, everything might have turned out very differently.

Before the Reds’ match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, Gakpo was questioned by Sky Sports about his unsuccessful transfer to Old Trafford. It was the previous summer, he remarked.

When Jurgen Klopp contacted, I was on the verge of joining Man United, but I couldn't turn down a transfer to Liverpool.

“I spoke with the manager, who is Dutch, and I was in communication with the club.” Ultimately, it failed, that much is true, and during the winter, Liverpool arrived. For me, that was the right choice.”

Gakpo acknowledged shortly after signing a contract with Liverpool that he had discussed a move to United with Ruud van Nistelrooy before to joining the Reds. “To be honest, I spoke to him [Van Nistelrooy] a lot about United in the summer when the transfer looked like it may be coming,” he remarked, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

But not really in the winter. Ruud had wished that I would join a major league team, and I believe I have done it with Liverpool. The summer was a time of great speculation. Yes, it had some effect on me because it was the first window with moveable furniture.

However, there was a point when I simply told them to forget about it, play their best, and perhaps it would come up in the winter or next summer. I tried that, and it worked out nicely.”

Gakpo continued, “I believe the sale was completed five days after I learned about Liverpool’s interest. My manager and brother were aware of it for a longer period of time, but I told them not to tell me anything since I needed to concentrate during the World Cup.

“I thought, ‘Come on, let’s go,’ as soon as I heard about the interest. Do you celebrate Christmas twice? Isn’t that Boxing Day? While I was with the family, which included aunts and nieces, I kept getting calls about Liverpool.

Nevertheless, I wasn’t using my phone on Christmas Day. The phone was not used because that was a very crucial day. It occurred the very following day.”

With the January transfer market being quiet, this is probably Jurgen Klopp’s final opportunity to add players before he steps down as manager at the end of the campaign.

Over the previous 20 years, Liverpool has had notably mixed outcomes from the January transfer window.

The Reds have only made one or two signings in recent seasons, usually in order to outbid competitors and acquire their top targets. Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo experienced the same thing, as Jurgen Klopp brought them in six months ahead of schedule.

However, things weren’t always that way; prior to Klopp’s arrival in 2015, Liverpool’s approach resulted in both hits and misses. That being said, some of the greatest players of today were signed in the winter.

The true highlights are the transfers that Klopp has made, even though it is unlikely that the German manager would add any more players before leaving in the summer. Mirror Football examines a few of Liverpool’s previous January windows in this article.

2007: Javier Mascherano and Alvaro Arbeloa

Alvaro Arbeloa and Javier Mascherano brought two talents to Anfield in January 2007. Rafael Benitez became interested in the former after he played for Deportivo la Coruna, and he signed for an incredible £2.6 million.

The full-back led the team to the 2007 Champions League final, showing that he was a wise investment right away. Though his time there was only brief, in 2009 he moved to Real Madrid, where he would go on to win two Copa del Rey, La Liga, and the World Cup with Spain.

Javier Mascherano also arrived during that window; he signed a £20 million contract with West Ham. FIFA and the Premier League had to approve his first loan, and he needed to have special authorization in order to play for the Reds.

That was acknowledged by February, though, as the Argentine’s reputation as the best midfield enforcer in the Premier League rapidly grew. After being traded to Barcelona in 2010, Masherano went on to win every award possible while playing for the dominant La Liga team.

2011: Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll

    Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll

2011 is the best window to illustrate Liverpool’s prior confused approach to the transfer market. On the same day that the Reds acquired Andy Carroll for £35 million from Newcastle, Luis Suarez was signed for £23 million.

After netting 82 goals in 133 games and nearly leading Brendan Rodgers’ team to victory in the 2013–14 campaign, Suarez would go on to become a modern-day legend for the Reds. One of the greatest attackers to play for Liverpool in history, he would transfer for £74 million to Barcelona in 2014.

He went on to be regarded as one of the greatest attackers in the world until he assisted Atletico Madrid in winning La Liga in 2021. Carroll was an utter failure, while Suarez was a huge success.

Carroll did not perform well even though he was more expensive than Suarez and hence the most expensive British football player ever. That March, he was unable to make his debut, which began a poor run of games at Anfield.

The striker’s one notable moment was in the 2012 FA Cup final against Everton when he scored a late winner. However, Carroll moved to West Ham in 2012 after the move ultimately proved to be a fiasco.

2021: Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies

    Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies

Ten years after Carroll and Suarez joined, Liverpool had one of their most confusing deadline days ever. Due to an injury situation, Klopp required additional centre backs.

As time was running out, he chose Ozan Kabak of Schalke and Preston’s Ben Davies. Despite being signed for £2 million, Davies never played for the Reds and instead moved on loan to Sheffield United.

Kabak, who was brought in on loan from Bundesliga struggling team Schalke, followed in Davies’ footsteps. His brief tenure at Anfield was marred by a terrible start against Leicester, and at the end of that season, he was sent to Germany.

Even after winning the Merseyside derby, Jurgen Klopp still faces a major problem.

Liverpool return to the Premier League on Merseyside with Everton.

Mohamed Salah scored a second-half brace at Anfield on Saturday as Ashley Young Jurgen Klopp’s side returned from the international break with a morale-boosting win over their local rivals to move up to third in the top flight.
Unbeaten Spurs are just a point behind Fulham on Monday night.

Manchester United are currently busy with a Europa League game against French side Toulouse on Thursday, a Championship trip to Nottingham Forest next weekend and a Carabao Cup fourth round tie with Bournemouth.

Klopp still has one or two major fitness concerns as his side look to continue challenging for trophies on three fronts.
Here’s the latest Liverpool injury news and return date.

    Andy Robertson

Klopp’s standout player is Robertson, who normally plays at left-back but will need surgery after picking up an injury sustained on international duty in Scotland’s Euro 2024 win over Spain last week.

Greek Kostas Tsimikas is expected to feature for Everton for at least the next few weeks, with the manager admitting Robertson will be out “for a while”.

Klopp before the derby: “The decision is about operations.
Anyway, there was little chance to try, but after talking to many experts, it sounds like surgery would be better in the long run, meaning he’d be gone for a while.

“I don’t know exactly how long it will take, but shoulder surgery is not easy.
“My experience is that he will be back very quickly in training, but not in football because he has to be careful and has problems etc. He will be gone for a while.”

    Potential return date: January 2024

    Cody Gakpo

The Dutch forward was left out of the matchday squad against Everton after injuring his knee in last month’s controversial defeat to Tottenham.
However, Gakpo returned to training at Kirkby ahead of the derby and is sure to push for a return to the first team against either Toulouse or Nottingham Forest this week after missing his last three games Liverpool in all competitions.

Potential return date: October 26 vs.

    Thiago Alcantara

Injury update for Liverpool: most recent information and potential return dates for Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo, and Thiago

The Spaniard has been out of Liverpool since April after undergoing hip surgery.
He was scheduled to return to training last month, but suffered two setbacks during his rehabilitation and was unable to set foot properly on grass.

It remains to be seen when Thiago will return as he will certainly need time to improve his game to recover from these difficulties.
As of now, November or December seems likely, but it’s hard to say until there’s a proper update from someone other than the boss.

    Potential return date: December 2023

    Stefan Bajcetic

Baysetic returned for two games in September after being sidelined since March with a groin problem which hampered the academy graduate midfielder’s impressive 2022/23 campaign.

The Spaniard made his debut in the Europa League game against LASK and then in the Carabao Cup tie with Leicester, but was ruled out with a minor calf problem.

The injury does not appear to be serious and Klopp will likely be hoping for a return soon.
Potential return date: November 1 vs Bournemouth

    Ben Doak

Doak missed the match against Everton due to a muscle injury while playing for Scotland Under-21s.

It remains to be seen how long the 17-year-old will be out.
“Scotland Ben Doak has very little muscle,” Klopp said on Friday.
“So we’ll have to wait and see (how long that takes), but we won’t have time over the weekend.”

This is good news for Liverpool.
Back-up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher returned to the bench this weekend after suffering a knee injury that required 12 stitches before the international break.

  • Liverpool 11 players who were not involved during international break

Liverpool 11 players who were not involved during international break

During the break, eight different players were required to play 180 minutes for their respective countries, but 11 Reds did not participate in any games in October.

It is incredible to think that we will have to go through this a third time in a month, especially after Andy Robertson suffered a serious injury during the October international break.

Six different Liverpool players registered either a goal or an assist, making the total number of first-team players called up for their country to 16; eight of them played every minute.

The absence of Robertson, Ben Doak, and Luke Chambers has left Jurgen Klopp regretting their injuries.
He will have little time with his entire team before facing Everton on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

However, a total of 11 senior players were ineligible for selection or were injured and thus did not participate in international action this month.

While Caoimhin Kelleher, Conor Bradley, Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic, and Cody Gakpo were unable to play because of injuries, Adrian, Marcelo Pitaluga, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Curtis Jones, and Ryan Gravenberch were all left out.

Kelleher missed the Reds’ final two games before the break because he needed 12 stitches after cutting his knee during practice, but Gravenberch’s absence remains puzzling.

The midfielder turned down the call-up last month in favor of settling in his new home, and the Netherlands, both the senior team and the under-21 squad, have harbored resentment toward him ever since.

    Liverpool gains from their loss!

The midfielder was given time off, just like other players who did not play for their nations, but he will be one of the select few to take advantage of uninterrupted practice leading up to the Merseyside derby.

Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are in a comparable situation and will be strongly considered for the starting spot at Anfield on Saturday.
If Gakpo’s rehabilitation goes according to plan, the same may be true for him.

Following his knee injury at Tottenham, the Dutch forward was said to have “a good chance” of returning after the break.
It is hoped that he will be available for selection against Everton.

One of Liverpool’s top summer targets for next year is made public

The ideal young forward has been identified by Liverpool, who want to bolster their lineup for next summer.

Over the past 12 months, Jurgen Klopp’s team has achieved an amazing rebuild by investing in youth and offloading experienced players.

The club lost Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Roberto Firmino in the summer as they moved to Saudi Arabia.

After Wataru Endo, Dominic Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister joined the team last summer, the midfield in particular received the most attention.

The Reds have been connected to a number of possible replacements as a result of reports that Mo Salah may eventually depart for Saudi Arabia.

Johan Bakayoko is one of Klopp’s top priorities for his team to sign next year, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The PSV winger made an impression in the previous season and was on the verge of joining Brentford in the summer, but he turned it down to remain in the Eredivisie.

Bakayoko, who is only 20 years old, would be a great fit for this young Liverpool team and would be a true steal at an estimated £20 million.

The reporter shared a link to an update claiming PGMOL officials were “split” over the need to release the officials’ audio from the Luis Diaz incident at 11:04 p.m. last night on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Five minutes later, however, Steele returned to social media to clarify what he meant when he used the word “split,” writing: “But PGMOL are leaning towards releasing the recording to LFC, and then the club can continue their investigation into what happened and take whatever steps they see fit from there.

Supporters may not get much clarity from this route, but if the club responded, it would be very clear if they had access to the audio first.

VAR audio ‘a matter of when, rather than if’

The Telegraph’s Ben Rumsby and Chris Bascombe published an article last night at 9:31 p.m. that included everything they knew about the situation surrounding PGMOL’s decision regarding the release of the VAR audio from Saturday’s game.

The audio footage that resulted in the incorrect decision was requested in writing by Liverpool. In summary, everyone who is connected to the Reds wanted to hear this late-night update.

In a move that could signal an overhaul of the video assistant referee system, Howard Webb is prepared to give in to pressure and release recordings documenting the Liverpool offside-goal incident.

An official request for the Var audio of the failed award of Luis Diaz’s goal in their dramatic Premier League loss at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday has now been received by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), which Webb leads.

PGMOL remained silent in response to the request last night, indicating that it was now a matter of when, rather than if, it would be granted in light of an ongoing internal review of what went wrong and what should be done to fix it.

VAR audio 'a matter of when, rather than if'

All of Jamie Carragher’s comments regarding the VAR debacle, Howard Webb, and a potential Liverpool replay.

Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool player, was one person who was not present for the live TV debates this weekend. He was also not present for the Sunday game between Nottingham Forest and Brentford, nor was he present at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium with Sky Sports, where people like Gary Neville and Jamie Redknapp were.

But Carra was back on our televisions last night for Monday Night Football, this time with Frank Lampard, the manager of Everton and a former midfielder for Chelsea, and in typical Carra fashion, he criticized PGMOL’s use of VAR during the Reds’ most recent match.

Here is everything he said in response regarding VAR, Howard Webb, and the notion of Tottenham and Liverpool replaying the game for those of you who might have missed the show.

fears about Cody Gakpo’s injury allayed.

The Athletic reports that Cody Gakpo will only be absent from Liverpool’s subsequent two games after the international break.

Gakpo was replaced moments after tying the score for the Reds in North London, and Jurgen Klopp later confirmed that the forward left the stadium wearing a leg brace.

    Big relief, Reds!
