    Washington Signs

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Deivid Washington from Santos as the Blues remain active through the summer transfer window. The club made a number of transfers as well as completing a first team squad overhaul.

Washington follows in the footsteps of Angelo Gabriel, who also joined from Santos and has since been on loan to Strasbourg after joining Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for pre-season in the United States. The 18-year-old arrives at Stamford Bridge on a deal that could be in the region of £17m.

The striker parted ways with Santos on Tuesday after scoring six goals in 22 appearances for the Brazilian side in 2023 and signed a seven-year deal with the option for a further year. Upon signing, Washington said, “I’m looking forward to making my debut here at such a big club with tons of goals and assists.”

After much speculation over Eden Hazard’s future, the whereabouts of the 32-year-old have finally been revealed, nearly twelve weeks after his departure from Real Madrid. On June 3, the Spanish giants confirmed he would be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the month, despite him still having a year left on his contract.

Since he became a free agent, there has been much speculation about Hazard’s future. The possibility of retiring has been discussed in various media. But it seems the Belgian has no shortage of options as he gears up for the new season.

According to Hazard’s world-renowned hairdresser Ahmed AlsanawI, owner of Chessington’s A Star Barbers, the winger has already turned down offers from six teams this summer as he weighs his options. In response to a comment claiming ‘no one wants to sign Hazard’ under a video of him getting a haircut, Alsanaw hilariously replied, “Funny he rejected 6 teams *laughs- Emoji* t. ” ***.\”

    Johnson’s Update

Chelsea transfer news: Eden Hazard position confirmed as Todd Boehly completes £17 million wonderkid deal
Steve Cooper has insisted that Brennan Johnson should not be distracted by speculation over his future at Nottingham Forest, given his links with Chelsea. When asked if there had been any offers for Johnson, Cooper said: “I’m not sure, I’m not looking into it. I just deal with Brennan on a daily basis.

“Right now we talk a lot, but it’s just normal conversations about performance and development and everything to do with him doing his best – or wanting to do his best. .”

“That’s our plan and that’s what we’re doing.” And if at some point we are told that things are changing – not just with him, but with any player – we will deal with it.

“But I can imagine that there is speculation about Brennan. I myself don’t pay attention to it. He is a very talented young player and the interesting thing is that he has much more in store.”

Chelsea star absent from training despite Mauricio Pochettino's double injury boost
Chelsea news: Mykhailo Mudryk was absent from Chelsea training on Wednesday but there has been a double wave of injuries since.

Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk was absent from training on Wednesday as the Blues step up their preparations for Friday night’s game against Luton Town.

The Ukraine international was on the bench against West Ham at the weekend and showed promising signs of living up to the hefty transfer fee attached to his move. There were times when the winger’s crosses went wide or were intercepted while his finishing attempts are still questionable.

After struggling last season following the January move, it was hoped the 22-year-old could return to his best form. Problems with a lack of fitness have created problems that could ideally be solved by a full pre-season, although he has yet to feature under Mauricio Pochettino.

His absence from training might come as a slight surprise as Sky Sports report he is among the players missing on Wednesday morning. It remains to be seen whether this is due to injury concerns, a precautionary measure or some other reason ahead of the third game of the season.

Pochettino is reinforced by two returnees who seem expected: striker Armando Broja and defender Benoit Badiashile. The former is coming back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered late last year which horribly ruled him out for the rest of the season.

The Cobham academy graduate is back in training, although he is unlikely to be back in action anytime soon after suffering such a serious injury. The head coach also hinted that Broja was thinking long-term, suggesting a new striker shouldn’t slow his development.

As for Badiashile, the defender impressed after his transfer in January but late-season injuries carried over into pre-season and he was sidelined for months. A return to training is also on the cards as the club have confirmed the centre-back will train with the ball on the pitch when he returns to form.

All in all, Pochettino is confident that the end of the light injury crisis will come to an end in the coming weeks, although doubts remain over Mudryk’s recent absence.

Deivid Washington, 18, has completed his move from Santos to Chelsea in a £17.1m deal; New England Revolution goaltender Djordje Petrovic will compete with Robert Sanchez following the departures of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga; The Blues pay 14 million pounds for the Serbian national team

Chelsea have signed striker Deivid Washington from Santos for £17.1m (€20m) on a seven-year deal.

The club will now decide whether the 18-year-old Brazilian joins Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad this season or goes on loan to break into first-team football on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic is expected to undergo a medical with the Blues in the next 24-48 hours.

Chelsea will pay a fee of around £14m, including performance-related surcharges, to New England Revolution for Petrovic and have agreed personal terms with the Serbian international.

Petrovic becomes Chelsea’s second great goalkeeper this summer, after Brighton’s Robert Sanchez signed a £25million deal following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s move to Real Madrid and Edouard Mendy’s move to Al Ahli. The 23-year-old has excelled during the New England Revolution, keeping seven clean sheets in 22 MLS games this season.

    Carragher: Chelsea need a goalkeeper

Chelsea transfer news: Djordje Petrovic is ready for medical treatment and Deivid Washington signs from Santos and
“What you would say about Chelsea is that they really impressed in these two games. I think they played well against Liverpool, I think they played well against West Ham.

“But when you spend so much money it’s strange when not many of us place Chelsea in the top four. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen.” But not many people are saying that with that amount of money spent, the team will finish in the top four. It doesn’t seem fair to me for that amount.

“I feel that even though I was very impressed with them in those two games, if you ask me how many players they need to challenge Manchester City – and I’m not talking about winning the league – I still think they need a team goalkeeper, even though they have just signed Robert Sánchez I still think they need a centre-back because Thiago Silva is 38 years old.

“I don’t think there is an absolute goalscorer. Your goalscorer doesn’t have to be your centre-forward, as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah plays on the right wing. So it’s not a criticism of Nicolas Jackson, he’s just arrived at the club and I’m impressed with him.

“But when you look at those key positions it still looks like four players need to come in to challenge Manchester City and that doesn’t feel right considering the amount of money they’ve spent.”

The youngster is unlikely to be the Blues’ latest signing, as Pochettino said in his pre-Luton press conference that two more could join him.

He said: “We need at least one goalkeeper. We have very talented young goalkeepers but they need time. We need more and then we talked about an attacking player, the right profile If we can add the right profile, yes, but not to bring players to be able to add another one. We don’t want to stop the evolution of some boys, Broja and Nkunku.

“We work hard, but we don’t make decisions because we need someone. We may need some players in these two areas.”

Chelsea are looking for a right-winger who can also play as an attacking midfielder but has less than two weeks to sign a contract

Chelsea still appear to be looking for a right winger who could also play as an attacking midfielder after Michael Olise turned down a move to Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old playmaker has already been heavily linked with a move to west London and, at the height of interest from the Blues, decided to sign a new long-term contract at Crystal Palace.

football.london understand that Chelsea were once confident of securing Olise’s signature. After talks with those close to the France Under-21 international, the two sides verbally agreed on personal terms before paying his release clause.

Joe Shields is understood to have played a leading role in the negotiations, having recently played a key role in bringing Romeo Lavia to the Cobham training ground. However, despite the Blues’ best efforts, Palace capitalized on interest in Olise and tied him up in extra time at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea now have less than two weeks to sign an alternative and Mauricio Pochettino has a few names in his shortlist. football.london understands the club remain interested in Mohammed Kudus and Rayan Cherki, with Brennan Johnson a late goal.

However, according to French outlet L’Équipe, Chelsea are interested in Rennes’ Jeremy Doku. According to the report, Manchester City are currently leading the race for the 21-year-old winger, who has been identified by Pep Guardiola as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez. L’Équipe add that Rennes are reportedly ready to sell Doku this summer for around €60m (£51.4m). The Belgium international, whose contract at Roazhon Park expires in 2025, made 29 appearances for the French side in Ligue 1 last season, contributing directly to eight goals.

Doku started the new season in excellent form, scoring a goal against Metz on the opening weekend. His impressive performances and low center of gravity have earned him comparisons to Eden Hazard.

In a Facebook Live video with La Tribune for RTBF, former Premier League star Phillipe Albert explained why he would be a great addition to the English top flight. He said: “He has incredible qualities which were discovered at Anderlecht, but he has been injured a lot in the last two or three seasons.”

“He’s a young talent who left for over €20m (£17m), so Rennes would accept an offer of €60m (£51m). I think the walk is not too far away, he has the qualities to win.” Premier League or any World Cup.

“If he is 100% physically, he will assert himself and repel opponents. It’s a bit like Eden Hazard at the start of his career with his double, triple accelerations which can hurt a lot.” “In England some teams are still a little naive at this level so it would hurt. He can play both sides, but I always believe that a player has to play on the right foot, so I would put him on the right foot. The role. The job of a winger is also to take care of the striker. So if you have the right player, there is no better player at this level.”

Deivid Washington, a young Santos player, is transferred to Chelsea by Chelsea.

Deivid Washington, a young player for Santos, will be acquired by Chelsea for about €20 million, according to UOL.

The French club AS Monaco put forth an offer for the 18-year-old, giving the Blues competition for his signature.

However, he decided on Chelsea and will sign a six-year contract through 2029. The deal may be extended by the Blues for an additional year.

Washington, a highly prized player, debuted for the senior team this season. In 16 appearances, he has two goals to his credit.

He’ll go to Chelsea with fellow Santos youth graduate Angelo Gabriel. The two are anticipated to team up at Chelsea’s French affiliate RC Strasbourg.

The Patrick Vieira-led Ligue 1 team will serve as a talent pipeline.

Lesley Ugochukwu, a different youngster from Chelsea, might also join them. Ugochukwu could take a loan back to France after Chelsea paid Rennes €27 million to acquire him this summer.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital moved to Stamford Bridge last season, the Blues have spent millions of dollars acquiring highly-rated young players from all over Europe and South America.

This summer, they spent more than £50 million to sign Kendry Paez, Ugochukwu, Angelo Gabriel, Washington, and Diego Moreira.

The two-time Champions League champions, however, still require senior reinforcements, and the youngsters are not yet prepared to start delivering for them.

They need another attacker and have not yet added a defensive midfielder. They might also be looking for a goalkeeper, as Bayern Munich has Kepa Arrizabalaga on their radar.

Tyler Adams and Moises Caicedo are both being courted by Chelsea. Giorgi Mamardashvili and Gregor Kobel are reportedly on their list of potential replacements for Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea’s double agreement is “close” as Mauricio Pochettino completes the first phase of his transfer strategy.

Chelsea's double agreement is "close" as Mauricio Pochettino completes the first phase of his transfer strategy.
As Mauricio Pochettino completes the first phase of his transfer strategy, a double deal involving Chelsea is “close.”.

Chelsea still have a ton of work to do before the end of August, but Mauricio Pochettino’s project at Stamford Bridge is finally starting to take shape.

As Chelsea is expected to close two more deals before the transfer window closes, Mauricio Pochettino has advanced to the next phase of his rebuilding effort. The challenging task of conducting a clean-out at Stamford Bridge was given to co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley before the summer.

Many prominent players have already been cut from the first team; among those who have moved on are Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, and Mason Mount. While Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic both joined AC Milan, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy boarded a plane for Saudi Arabia.

While Cesar Azpilicueta, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Abdul Rahman Baba all made free transfers to new clubs in Europe, Ethan Ampadu signed a contract with Leeds United. Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech have been excluded from preseason first-team practices even though Chelsea has not yet sold either player.

Following the release of twelve players from the books, Pochettino began the next phase of his meticulous rebuild, one that the Blues may be all too familiar with: reviving the infamous loan system. The process began when David Datro Fofana signed with Union Berlin, and it continued when Angelo Gabriel signed with sister-club Strabourg.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe and Charlie Webster have also joined Heerenveen and Bromley, respectively, before they return to Cobham the following year to force their way into the Chelsea manager’s plans. There are two more deals in the works now that the loan system is operating effectively once more at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's double agreement is "close" as Mauricio Pochettino completes the first phase of his transfer strategy.
Lewis Hall is reportedly close to signing a season-long loan agreement with Crystal Palace, according to the Daily Mail. The 18-year-old might even be available to play against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon, according to the report, which claims that the transfers are “on the verge of being agreed.”.

Hall performed well during the preseason, but he had to beat out Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell for a spot in the starting lineup. Even Ian Maatsen, who appears poised to take center stage for Chelsea this season, was frequently pushed farther out to make room for the England international.

Hall will have another opportunity to show why he belongs in the Blues starting lineup at Selhurst Park, and by then Pochettino may have decided against Cucurella, who hasn’t been particularly impressive lately. Of course, another loan—that of Cesare Casadei—is the second deal that is rumored to be close.

Genoa and Leicester City have requested that Chelsea loan out the 20-year-old midfielder to them this season, according to a report from Sky Italy, which was cited by Football Italia. Following his impressive performances for Italy at the Under-20s World Cup, Casadei has received a lot of attention.

Before Uruguay stopped them in their tracks, Casadei, who switched from the San Siro to Stamford Bridge last summer, led his nation to the final in Argentina. Despite failing at the very last hurdle, he had a fantastic tournament, winning both the player of the tournament award and the golden boot.

Then, this summer in the United States, he performed well with the first team. However, it might be difficult for him to get playing time given that Tyler Adams and Moises Caicedo are reportedly on Chelsea’s shortlist. At this point, a loan seems like the best course of action for him.
