Dirk Kuyt reveals his two selections for Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool.

    Dirk Kuyt,

The two managers Dirk Kuyt, a former Liverpool player, believes should succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield this summer are included.

Between 2006 and 2012, the Dutchman was a mainstay for Liverpool and became a definite fan favourite on Merseyside throughout that time.

Although he will be back at Anfield this weekend for the LFC Legends game against Ajax Legends, Kuyt has made the leap into management and is currently in charge of Belgian second division team Beerschot.

Speaking ahead of his return to the UK, Kuyt revealed his preferences for Jurgen Klopp’s successors, both of whom were formerly his colleagues.

DIRK KUYT ON THE NEXT MANAGER OF LIVERPOOL
Unsurprisingly, Kuyt believes that Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso, two of his former Liverpool colleagues, would make excellent Klopp replacements.

Speaking on Klopp’s replacement, Kuyt told the Liverpool ECHO: “You could see from a distance [Alonso would be] a manager one day. For me, it would be incredible if one of my former teammates—Xabi, perhaps, or Steven Gerrard—became a manager of Liverpool FC in the future.

“That would be amazing and I think both will do well.”

“Obviously you see Stevie is now a little further from the job but he also has experience with Glasgow Rangers and then Aston Villa,” he said speaking about Gerrard.

“He is now maybe in a place where people don’t like him to be but he is still doing the job and getting experience and that is how you become a better manager in my opinion.”

Given his outstanding work at Bayer Leverkusen, where the German team leads the Bundesliga by 10 points and has won all 38 of its games this season, Alonso is still Liverpool’s top choice to succeed Klopp.

    Steven Gerrard

Though he was once considered for the position, Gerrard seems a very improbable successor to Klopp. The former captain of Liverpool is currently in charge of Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool will probably look to Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann or Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim if Alonso decides to stay at Leverkusen or move elsewhere.

Arsenal and Liverpool are interested: Dortmund will give up their prolific striker.

    Donyell Malen

Donyell Malen can yet be forced out of the team by Jadon Sancho’s outstanding performances for Borussia Dortmund.

A possible trade agreement that would keep the former Manchester United player in Germany might employ the Englishman’s excellent teammate as a makeweight.

Yet, there will be no shortage of suitors for the 25-year-old right-sided striker, according to Edin Terzic’s team.

“Jadon Sancho continues to improve. He most recently scored in matches against Eindhoven and Bremen. The team examined historical information from the archives in order to compare Sancho’s initial Dortmund stats. Then, his workout regimen will be modified,” Christian Falk said in his special Fact Files column.

Sebastian Kehl, the sports director, is overjoyed with Sancho. He wants to speak with Manchester United in May because of this. Another loan is the objective.

“However, a backup plan exists as well: Donyell Malen is presently performing at his highest level since joining Dortmund. There is interest in him from Manchester United. Dortmund would discard him. A trade exchange would be possible.

“Good news for Dortmund: The Dutchman is also attracting interest from Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC.”

Malen has been having an incredible season in the German top division, contributing eight goals in his last seven league appearances.

Is Sancho going back to Manchester United?

Until Sancho issues a very public apology to Erik ten Hag, it appears quite doubtful that he will be able to resume his career at Old Trafford at this point.

However, considering how a return to Germany has rekindled a waning career, the 23-year-old might be happy enough to stay put.

At this point, the only thing that could persuade Sancho to believe differently would be a managerial change in Manchester.

Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt praises Evan Ferguson as potential signing, talks Virgil van Dijk’s form

Liverpool hero Dirk Kuyt believes Brighton’s Evan Ferguson should be on his former club’s radar as he insists Virgil van Dijk is still “one of the best”.

The 18-year-old Ferguson broke into Roberto De Zerbi’s Gabbiano team, as many youth players have already done.

The striker scored six goals in 19 Premier League games last season, but has already scored four goals in four games this season, thanks in part to a hat-trick against Newcastle United last weekend.

Brighton could compete in European football for the first time in the club’s history, starting in the Europa League group stage later this month.
However, that hasn’t stopped players like Alexis Mac Allister from switching to top rivals to further their careers.

In his current form, Kuyt has singled out Ferguson as one of the next candidates for Brighton to earn a transfer. He thinks Liverpool should be in the fray for a player who rejected him at youth level.

“Evan Ferguson looks dangerous to me! He’s in good shape,” the Dutchman told BettingSites.co.uk.
“He’s an interesting player to watch and I’m looking forward to following him over the coming months.
For me he’s one to watch in the Premier League right now.

“Ferguson will certainly be watched by the top six clubs, including Liverpool, but he will need to hold on for a longer period of time to show he is capable of having a very consistent season.
But from what I’ve seen so far, he could definitely be on the radar of top teams.”

Van Dijk, now captain of Kuyt’s home country and also a Dutch international who plays for Liverpool, was also part of the Reds’ former number 18.

The centre-back has been criticized for his performances at times when the whole team was struggling, especially last season.
However, Kuyt insists the No.4 is ‘still one of the best’ even after his 2020/21 season injuries and recent red card.

He said: “People forget that Van Dijk had a very serious injury.
It takes time to recover from it and I think he’s already done a great job of recovering from it.” “The other Liverpool players have to bring out the best in themselves and I think van Dijk is determined to do his best again. I watched the first two games he played and together with Konate he has very well played and does a great job.

“Even in the game against Newcastle, he was in control of the defence.
He was also comfortable with the ball.
However, after 28 minutes he made a small mistake and received a red card – a tough call in my opinion.
But that’s how it is in football and if you make a small mistake as a defender or goalkeeper it can cost you dearly.

“He is doing very well, the team is getting results and he is now captain.
I have great hope that he can return to his best level. I think he can’t wait to prove people wrong.

“He’s still a great defender, but he did his best at such a high level.” He remains one of the best defenders.
Liverpool also play with a high line and that makes things difficult.”

Liverpool plan to sign £42.2m star late – report

Liverpool have already agreed a deal to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich and are said to be considering poaching Leroy Sane
Liverpool have already agreed a deal to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich and are said to be considering poaching Leroy Sane from Bayern first.

The Reds have rejected a mammoth offer worth £150m to sell Mohamed Salah.

However, Sky’s Paul Merson believes the Al-Ittihad threat is not over and a £200million offer would be too big to turn down.

There would be no point in selling arguably the best player when there are only a few hours left in the summer transfer window because it will be difficult to replace him.

However, the Reds are said to be looking for ways to replace the Egyptian and Leroy Sane’s name would be in the spotlight.

According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Liverpool are considering a late signing of the Germany international who shone for Manchester City in the Premier League.

The news source mentioned that the Anfield club are looking for a replacement for Salah and are keeping a close eye on 27-year-old Kaiser.

Sane won every major domestic league title with Sky Blues, including two Premier League titles, under manager Pep Guardiola.

Moreover, the 53-time national player has already won three Bundesliga titles since joining the Allianz Arena.

The quick and tricky winger contributed 24 goals for Bayern last season and has already netted twice in three appearances this term.

Almost two weeks ago, Football Transfers spoke about Liverpool’s interest in Leroy Sane, saying his expected transfer value was around £42.2m (€49.3m).

Do you think the German is good enough to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool?
