Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong Reveals the Heartwarming Reason He Kept His Anfield Move a Secret from His Dad

Jeremie Frimpong is officially a Red — and his journey to Merseyside began with a bit of family mischief.

The 23-year-old right-back became the first senior signing of Liverpool’s summer window after the club activated his £29.5 million release clause from Bayer Leverkusen. But before he packed his bags, Frimpong had one more task: keeping it a secret from his biggest fan — his dad.

In an exclusive chat with The Kop TV, Frimpong shared the touching (and slightly comical) story behind his low-key move.

My dad is a Liverpool fan,” he revealed. “So when the rumours were coming out I was like, ‘Oh dad, it’s not true, it’s not true’. All the family members wanted to surprise him.

That plan didn’t last long. Once transfer insider Fabrizio Romano began tweeting about the move, Frimpong’s cover was quickly blown.

When it got too much, when Fabrizio started talking, then obviously my dad’s not stupid. He was like, ‘Hey, Jeremie, is it true?’

I had to travel, and my dad was at my house asking too many questions,” Frimpong laughed. “So I was like, ‘Dad, I’m going to go to Liverpool to do my medical,’ and he’s like, ‘No! Really?’ I told him, ‘Yeah dad, I’m going to go play for your team,’ and he was just like, ‘No way’. It was a great reaction from him!

Frimpong arrives with impressive numbers: five goals and five assists in last season’s Bundesliga, and a remarkable 14 goals across all competitions the year before — not bad for a defender.

However, the real test begins now. With Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to transition into midfield, Frimpong will likely fill those massive boots at right-back. That said, he may need to adapt his game.

At Leverkusen, under Xabi Alonso, Frimpong thrived as a flying wing-back, granted freedom to surge forward. But at Liverpool, Arne Slot employed a traditional back-four throughout his debut season.

The 2025/26 campaign will mark Frimpong’s first taste of Premier League football — and he’ll do so not just as a top signing, but as a player fulfilling his father’s dream.

Stay tuned — this is just the beginning.

  • Liverpool Kick Off Summer Revolution with First of Five Blockbuster Signings – Announcement Coming TODAY

Liverpool Kick Off Summer Revolution with First of Five Blockbuster Signings – Announcement Coming TODAY

I can now confirm through two top sources that Liverpool will officially unveil Jeremie Frimpong as their newest signing today, Friday — marking the first of five incoming transfers this summer.

After the departure of club icon Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, despite Liverpool’s determined efforts to keep the 26-year-old, the club found itself in urgent need of a world-class replacement.

And in true Liverpool fashion, they’ve acted with speed and precision.

The Reds swiftly locked in personal terms with Frimpong, and the 24-year-old Dutchman has already passed his medical. The only thing left was triggering his €35 million release clause — and that, I’m told, is happening today.

Taking to X this morning, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano dropped the bombshell:

Jeremie Frimpong deal, all signed and sealed with official announcement now imminent. Liverpool have their new right back for €35m.

That report was quickly echoed by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who added:

Jeremie Frimpong is a new player for FC Liverpool! The announcement of the deal is TODAY — everything is done and sealed.

Frimpong, known for his marauding runs and dynamic play down the right flank, becomes signing number one in what is shaping up to be a record-breaking transfer window for Liverpool.

Kerkez, Wirtz, and More – A Summer Spending Spree in Full Swing

Back in 2018, Liverpool’s biggest single-window investment totaled £172.05m, bringing in the likes of Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita, and Xherdan Shaqiri.

That number? About to be shattered.

FSG — after years of measured spending — are now opening the coffers.

The club has already agreed personal terms with Milos Kerkez, who is set to replace Andy Robertson at left-back. Talks with Bournemouth are underway, with the Cherries valuing the player at around £45m.

But the most eye-catching deal? That’s undoubtedly Florian Wirtz — the German sensation and potential marquee arrival. You can follow ongoing developments on that saga right here on this channel.

    And it doesn’t stop there.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are targeting two more signings, bringing the summer total to five — signaling a new era under fresh direction and bold ambition at Anfield.

Stay with us as we bring you the official announcement on Frimpong, and all the latest on Liverpool’s massive transfer moves.

  • Liverpool take significant step towards signing ideal Mo Salah replacement

Liverpool take significant step towards signing ideal Mo Salah replacement

Liverpool may land a new Roberto Firmino as $68m Arne Slot 'priority' appears to be a smart move.

It has been known for some time that Liverpool may need to find replacements for both Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold by the end of this season.

Although no one wanted to confront the reality of this possibility, the idea is certainly alarming. Real Madrid is reportedly interested in acquiring Alexander-Arnold, while Saudi Arabia is positioning itself to offer Salah a lucrative contract.

As a result, Liverpool has been exploring a range of potential replacements for the duo.

One such option is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

The Dutch player has primarily played as a right-back throughout his career, especially during Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title-winning campaign last season.

When initial rumors surfaced, and Liverpool even invited Frimpong’s agent to a director’s box during Leverkusen’s visit to Anfield earlier this season, fans started to discuss the possibility of replacing Alexander-Arnold with Frimpong.

However, something unexpected has occurred this season – Frimpong has been deployed as a right-winger.

Is Jeremie Frimpong the potential replacement for Salah?

    Jeremie Frimpong

Leverkusen’s acquisition of Nordi Mukiele on loan from PSG to play as a full-back has enabled Frimpong to move forward into a more attacking role.

As a result, Frimpong’s signing might not be intended as a replacement for Alexander-Arnold, but rather for Mo Salah.

Looking at the heatmaps for Frimpong and Salah this season, it’s striking how difficult it is to distinguish between the two (for reference, Frimpong’s is the first, Salah’s the second).

    In contrast, here is Alexander-Arnold’s.

Why Jeremie Frimpong could be the ideal Salah replacement

It’s clear that Frimpong is occupying attacking areas typically associated with an out-and-out attacker, while Alexander-Arnold has more defensive responsibilities.

Frimpong has also been involved in nine goals across all competitions this season, adding to his 26 goal contributions from last year.

Though replacing Salah is an enormous challenge, it’s evident that Frimpong possesses the attacking qualities that head coach Arne Slot could further nurture.

Therefore, if Liverpool were to pursue him, Frimpong would likely be a better fit as Salah’s successor rather than Alexander-Arnold’s.

This is a captivating turn in an ongoing transfer saga that could shape the future of Liverpool Football Club.

  • “£33m Leverkusen Star’s Agent Negotiating with Liverpool Over Deal”

“£33m Leverkusen Star’s Agent Negotiating with Liverpool Over Deal”

    David Ornstein

Liverpool are already making plans for a future without Trent Alexander-Arnold in the squad.

To clarify, the Merseysiders are still eager to retain their No. 66, if possible, despite significant interest from Spanish champions Real Madrid.

With this in mind, David Ornstein reported for The Athletic on Sunday that the Premier League title contenders have already made an offer to their vice-captain. The opening offer made to top scorer Mo Salah ensures that the Reds have secured agreements with key figures (including Virgil van Dijk) ahead of the winter transfer window.

If Liverpool fails to secure contract extensions before the January 1 deadline, foreign clubs will be free to discuss pre-contract agreements in the new year.

The pressure is mounting on sporting director Richard Hughes and the club’s players with expiring contracts.

True: Liverpool remain interested in Jeremie Frimpong

    Jeremie Frimpong

It is now understood that Liverpool has taken their interest in Jeremie Frimpong further by directly contacting the player’s agent, Dirk Hebel.

“Liverpool’s interest in Jeremie Frimpong has been confirmed again,” shared Christian Falk in his exclusive Fact Files column with CaughtOffside.

“I heard that his agent, Dirk Hebel, was invited by Liverpool for the match against Bayer Leverkusen. He was in the director’s box. So, you see the club and the player’s entourage are talking.”

How confident Arne Slot’s side is about Alexander-Arnold signing fresh terms at Anfield remains to be seen. The atmosphere around the club suggests that decision-makers are leaning toward optimism for now. However, transfers in football can shift quickly, so it’s possible that new developments in this contract saga could emerge.

That said, it’s important to note that Liverpool’s interest in the Leverkusen fullback does not necessarily mean Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave.

    How much does Frimpong cost?

In a hypothetical scenario where the 26-year-old right-back departs the Merseyside club this summer, a £33m fee to bring in his potential replacement, Frimpong, would be considered a bargain.

“Frimpong has a release clause valued at €40m [£33m], and he’s also Dutch, like their new head coach, Arne Slot. So, they’re working on this deal as well,” the Bundesliga insider added.

The 24-year-old continues to shine as one of the most promising talents in world football. He has carried over his impressive 2023/24 form (26 goal contributions in 47 games) into the current season, with nine goal contributions in 22 games.

In fact, if Liverpool were to sign Frimpong for £33m, they would likely view it as one of the best deals of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool seeks exceptional 23-year-old with 85 goal/assist contributions as Trent’s replacement

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has not confirmed his future at the club

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has not confirmed his future at the club beyond his current contract, but the team is already considering potential replacements.

To prepare for a possible exit of the England international, the club has been actively scouting alternatives, as reported by sources close to CaughtOffside. While Liverpool prefers to keep Trent in their first-team lineup, they acknowledge that he may envision his future away from Anfield.

Bayer Leverkusen’s standout Dutch right-back, Jeremie Frimpong, has emerged as a prime target should Alexander-Arnold choose to leave. Liverpool’s scouts have been monitoring Frimpong closely, attending recent matches, including one against Werder Bremen.

Liverpool has identified a candidate to succeed Trent Alexander-Arnold

Dutch manager Arne Slot is reportedly very keen on Frimpong, and for good reason. According to transfermarkt, Frimpong has an impressive record of 32 goals and 53 assists in 274 career appearances, which stacks up well against Alexander-Arnold’s 23 goals and 87 assists.

With financial constraints and rising interest from top clubs, Liverpool knows they need to act quickly. Insiders suggest that the Reds might enhance their offer with a lucrative, long-term contract to attract Frimpong.

Additionally, there is a player within their current squad who “ticks all the boxes,” as noted by one pundit. However, it remains uncertain if this player would be open to a move to Merseyside. With Xabi Alonso likely to leave Leverkusen at the end of the season, the club’s strong squad could face disbandment.

As the January 1 transfer window approaches, when players out of contract in June 2025 can negotiate with other teams, further clarity on Alexander-Arnold’s situation will emerge. Rumored interest from Real Madrid might have inadvertently narrowed his options.

£66.6m star reportedly refuses Liverpool’s terms despite substantial offer

Liverpool will face Arsenal today in a key match that could strengthen their status as contenders in the Premier League.

Arne Slot’s team has made a strong start to the season, but performing well against top teams is essential.

Despite their impressive performances so far, Liverpool has a significant concern. It’s remarkable that they might lose three of their top players on free transfers at the season’s end.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been pivotal to Liverpool’s success over the past decade. Two of them serve as the club’s captain and vice-captain, making their contributions vital.

However, if Liverpool does not secure contract renewals, these players could leave for nothing. Recently, reports indicated that Liverpool made a substantial offer to the England international in hopes of reaching an agreement.

According to Football Insider, Trent Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to renew his contract and may be heading to Real Madrid, who have shown significant interest in him.

Last summer, Liverpool placed a £66.6 million valuation on Trent. Losing such a talent without compensation would be disastrous, prompting the Reds to do everything possible to persuade him to remain.

One thing that can be said about Liverpool is that the media often lacks insight into the club’s internal matters, meaning these rumors could simply be speculation aimed at influencing the player.

    Exequiel Palacios

Liverpool are reportedly interested in three Bayer Leverkusen players: Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Exequiel Palacios.

According to sources close to the situation, the Reds are increasingly focused on Wirtz, who is open to a Premier League move, despite interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

If Wirtz leaves Leverkusen, he could command a fee around €100 million, with a transfer more likely in summer 2025. Leverkusen seems aware of the challenges in retaining the 21-year-old, given the significant interest from top clubs, including Liverpool, who are prepared to meet the asking price.

    Exequiel Palacios
    Exequiel Palacios

Wirtz is viewed as a key target for Liverpool, particularly in light of uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s contract situation. However, he isn’t the only Leverkusen player on their radar.

Frimpong, a Dutch right-back, is also attracting attention, especially with a modest release clause of £34 million. Manchester United is also in the mix, particularly after their sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, although Liverpool may present a more appealing option for Frimpong as he looks to advance his career.

Additionally, Liverpool is considering Palacios, who is also on the radar of Chelsea and Arsenal. However, Leverkusen’s €60 million asking price, combined with concerns about Palacios’s injury history, may complicate his potential transfer.

Fabrizio Romano’s morning update brings positive news for Liverpool supporters.

Romano reports that Virgil van Dijk is not currently in negotiations with any other club about leaving Liverpool next year. The 33-year-old defender is “fully focused” on Liverpool and working with Arne Slot, who has taken over from Jurgen Klopp after his nine-year tenure ended this summer.

“Nothing will be decided now, nothing is over and nothing has already been extended. So let’s give them time to discuss all these important topics,” Romano told The Daily Briefing.

“From what I am told, Van Dijk is not negotiating with any other club as he is fully focused on Liverpool, concentrating on achieving something special with the Reds’ new coach and management team. In the coming weeks and months, his representatives will discuss his future with Liverpool.”

If a Liverpool player does not renew their contract, the responsibility lies with the club

Van Dijk, along with Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is expected to enter discussions with the club regarding their contracts, which expire in 2025.

'According to what I’ve heard': Fabrizio Romano’s morning update brings positive news for Liverpool supporters

Van Dijk joined Liverpool from Southampton in a £75 million transfer in January 2018.

While the responsibility for renewing contracts for these key players may largely fall on the recruitment team, it is essential to acknowledge that any decision made will be based on valid reasoning.

Liverpool fans might understandably be concerned about the possibility of losing any of these players on a free transfer next year. Nevertheless, both Van Dijk and Mo Salah have clearly expressed a desire to discuss extending their time at Anfield.

The situation with Alexander-Arnold remains somewhat uncertain, particularly given potential interest from Real Madrid. However, previous statements suggest he is open to negotiations.

  • The triple swoop is the perfect way for Liverpool manager Arne Slot to make a statement

The triple swoop is the perfect way for Liverpool manager Arne Slot to make a statement

    Jeremie Frimpong

Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, has begun training for the upcoming campaign.

The challenging task of succeeding Jurgen Klopp at Anfield has been placed on the Reds manager.

After losing several important players, the Merseyside club has made the decision to bolster their roster this summer.

Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, and Adrian left the team after their contracts expired, and the Reds will now need to bring in new players to take their places.

In order to sign an attacker, a midfielder, and a defence this summer, Slot plans to conduct a triple raid on the Bundesliga.

According to German news agency Bild, via the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool is reportedly considering bids for midfielder Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich, right-back Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen, and forward Donyell Malen of Borussia Dortmund.

    Jeremie Frimpong

For their teams in the 2023–24 campaign, all three of these players turned in excellent performances.

Under Xabi Alonso’s direction, Frimpong was an integral member of the Bayer Leverkusen club that won the championship.

Kimmich has long been a vital component of the Bayern Munich lineup, and his versatility as a right back and midfield player is well-known.

Malen was once signed by Arsenal, and a return to the Premier League would give him a legitimate opportunity to establish himself on the English football scene.

Liverpool needs to make some signings during the summer transfer window.

The Reds need to add players to those positions, thus it would make sense to make a move for all three of those individuals.

Since Kimmich is nearing the end of his Allianz Arena deal, signing him would be simpler than it would be for the other two players because Bayern Munich is eager to cash in on him.

While Manchester United and Chelsea, two of the Reds’ Premier League rivals, have been aggressively recruiting this summer, the team has yet not added a new player.

It’s time to add new players to the team in order to set them up for success with the new manager and the present roster with just one month left in the Premier League season to begin.

The 15-year-old’s West London contract ends this summer, and the Reds are willing to pay above the academy level in order to recruit him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and the England youth international are close to reaching an agreement, which would be a major win for the Merseysiders’ academy system.

Ngumoha, who was born in 2008, participated in 2023–24 as a member of the Chelsea first team after training with them earlier this year. He rose to become Chelsea’s under-21 team’s third-youngest player of the century.

Liverpool transfer rumours: It may be a race against time for the Reds to sign Jeremie Frimpong. Arne Slot has allegedly chosen his priority signings in the interim.

Arne Slot, the new head coach of Liverpool, has not yet made a signing since coming to the team this summer from Feyenoord.

Even so, Liverpool is still being linked to a number of talented players in international football, and Slot disclosed in his first news conference that he has been discussing transfer plans with sporting director Richard Hughes. Strong Liverpool players have been assembled under former head coach Jurgen Klopp, but Slot will want to make some personal additions before the 2024–25 campaign begins.

It is anticipated that Liverpool may be about to enter a Dutch age, which would mean that international teammates who are currently or may in the future join Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo. With barely one month until the start of the Premier League season, confirmed acquisitions ought to be made public fairly soon.

The Liverpool.com opinion on the transfer rumours circulating about the Reds today, including the most recent on Jeremie Frimpong and Joao Neves, is as follows.

    Jeremie Frimpong: (Bayern Leverkusen)

Liverpool transfer rumours: It may be a race against time for the Reds to sign Jeremie Frimpong.

According to German publication BILD, Bayer Leverkusen star Frimpong has reportedly expressed interest in joining Liverpool. The 23-year-old was essential to Leverkusen’s championship-winning campaign the previous year, when they created history by going undefeated in every domestic competition.

With his reputation for speed and agility, Frimpong has established himself as a mainstay in the Dutch national squad. Because of his versatility, Frimpong can play as a right-winger or right-back, which might be useful if Slot decides to try Trent Alexander-Arnold at that position.

After Leverkusen signed him to a contract deal last season, Liverpool would have to persuade the former Reds hero Xabi Alonso to let him go. He won’t be available unless a large sum of money is paid. But Frimpong might also be at the top of his game, which could entice the German team to sell.

According to Liverpool.com, Frimpong is a prime target for Liverpool due to his versatility, and the Dutch connection will increase their chances of acquiring the 23-year-old. After all of their hard work, the Leverkusen team is probably going to want to finish the next season strong, especially after they won the Bundesliga and advanced to the Champions League.

If Leverkusen gives up the German title and crashes out of Europe, next summer might see a mass departure. Liverpool’s greatest chance to make a move might be then, but Frimpong’s contract expires in 2028.

    Joao Joao (Benfica)

Liverpool transfer rumours: It may be a race against time for the Reds to sign Jeremie Frimpong. Arne Slot has allegedly chosen

Joao Neves has been the subject of Liverpool’s curiosity all summer, and after Diogo Jota revealed that the 19-year-old midfielder would have a fantastic future, rumours about the player intensified. Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United all expressed interest in Neves; however, teams are turning him down due to Benfica’s $130 million release clause.

Neves was supposed to be the breakout player at Euro 2024, but he underperformed against Georgia in his lone start as a young midfielder for Portugal. Although Neves appears to have a bright future ahead of him, it is unclear if Liverpool is willing to take a risk on him at this point in his development.

Liverpool.com states: There has been increased attention on Portuguese talent ever since Cristiano Ronaldo rose to prominence at Manchester United, so the frenzy surrounding Neves is understandable. Liverpool has demonstrated their willingness to spend money on a midfield player by placing an incredible $140 million bid for Moises Caicedo, only to lose to Chelsea.

Neves, aged 19, might be Liverpool’s long-term option, but his subpar showing at Euro 2024 might cause concerns. It’s unlikely that any team will take a chance on Neves this summer unless Benfica is prepared to accept an offer that is less than his release clause.

  • Arne Slot has chosen his two top Liverpool transfer window spots.

Arne Slot has chosen his two top Liverpool transfer window spots.

Arne Slot has chosen his two top Liverpool transfer window spots.

Arne Slot has identified two positions for which he wants to hire, but rumours also circulate that the head coach of Liverpool has spoken with a player who is now playing elsewhere.

This summer is the first Liverpool manager change in nine years, since Jurgen Klopp assumed the position in October 2015.

While Klopp was unable to bolster and bolster his team right away, Reds head coach Arne Slot is free to spend in the transfer market before he is required to play a competitive game. There will be a lot of eyes on the first man in the door. Have they previously worked with Slot? Are they there to take the place of or replace a more seasoned team member? How will the addition of the new player affect the tactical setup?

And so forth. Even though Slot held his first press conference on Friday, we still don’t know who he will sign first. But TEAMtalk has learned the two positions the Dutchman wants to focus on filling this summer.

According to the soccer news website, Slot’s top targets are a new midfield player and a left-sided center-half. Given the opportunity, many Liverpool supporters would have been considering reinforcing the same areas, so this news is hardly shocking. The word “midfielder” is also incredibly ambiguous; will the new player be playing on the wings, putting out fires in front of the defence, or playing at number 10 and threading balls to the forwards?

    Jeremie Frimpong

Teun Koopmeiners, the name listed in the report, is also not a recent addition to the Reds’ rumour mill. In addition to his 58 appearances for Slot at AZ Alkmaar, he most recently assisted Atalanta in defeating Liverpool to win the Europa League. Koopmeiners is apparently valued at $65 million (£50.8m/€60m) at this time.

Additionally, TEAMtalk has disseminated news stories from Germany concerning Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen. According to the report, Liverpool has contacted Slot first in an attempt to get the player, and his release clause is at $43.3 million (£33.8 million/€40 million).

He had previously been extensively connected to the Reds, just like Koopmeiners. However, there is an obvious contradiction at work here. Making contact with a right (wing) defender won’t fix the problem if Slot is so determined to sign a left-sided center-half as a top priority.

However, if Liverpool signs a new player for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s primary job, he is likely to shift into midfield, which could solve his future. It’s possible that the responses to the queries in the second paragraph will eventually come together quite nicely.

According to Liverpool.com, it’s not surprising that contradicting information can appear in a single story given the volume of rumours circulating. Once Liverpool makes the first signing of the Slot era, a lot will become apparent. At that point, the recruiting puzzle will begin to come together.

Liverpool has inquired about the brilliant assist machine who is also linked with a move to Barcelona.

    Jeremie Frimpong

Liverpool is apparently one of several clubs interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, with Barcelona also interested in the young right-back.

Frimpong was one of Europe’s most in-form players last season, producing excellent numbers in terms of goals and assists from right-back and assisting Leverkusen in winning their first Bundesliga title, which they did without losing a single game, as well as the DFB Pokal and the Europa League final.

Frimpong is now garnering interest this summer, with Sport Bild saying that Liverpool has inquired about him, though talks have not advanced beyond this point, while Barcelona appears to be vying for the Netherlands international’s signing.

Even although Leverkusen is constructing a very promising team under Xabi Alonso, it’s difficult to picture them keeping all of their key players, with Jonathan Tah, for example, reportedly interested in a move to Bayern Munich, as Christian Falk recently disclosed on the Daily Briefing.

Frimpong transfer: Will he join Liverpool or Barcelona?

Frimpong could undoubtedly choose from most of Europe’s elite clubs, but what would he give Liverpool and Barcelona next season?

Arne Slot, the incoming Liverpool manager, would undoubtedly want to make changes to the squad he takes over from Jurgen Klopp, which might include moving Trent Alexander-Arnold to midfield, freeing up space for a new right-back like Frimpong.

Still, it’s unclear whether LFC would consider it an urgent priority given Alexander Arnold’s quality in that post, as well as other areas of the squad that must be addressed first, such as central defence.

The 23-year-old might be an excellent signing for Barcelona, who have never fully replaced the influence of club veteran Dani Alves as an attacking outlet down the right side.

Champions League football is also returning to Anfield, and new manager Arne Slot will need a strong and capable squad to compete.

Liverpool has set its sights on Feyenoord ace Lutsharel Geertruida.

According to AD, Liverpool are looking to capture Feyenoord star Lutsharel Geertruida in the summer transfer season.

Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham are reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old ahead of the new season.

Geertruida, who has seven caps for the Netherlands, has made nearly 200 Feyenoord appearances.

This season, the player made 47 appearances, playing at right-back, centre-back, and left-back.

Lutsharel Geertruida may reunite with Arne Slot.

Slot, who has just recently left Feyenoord, certainly knows the defence well, and a reunion is already being discussed.

Geertruida is highly interested in working with Slot at Anfield, but whether the powers that be on Merseyside would approve the move remains to be seen.

He would surely improve the existing squad, with the Dutch international capable of playing in defensive midfield.

That adaptability might help fill a void at Anfield, as current defensive midfielder Wataru Endo could leave after just one season.

Furthermore, the Feyenoord player has extensive big-game experience, having faced Atletico Madrid, Lazio, and Celtic in this season’s Champions League.
