Arne Slot at Liverpool might be “saved” by the player who exposed Jurgen Klopp.

Not even gone Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, had anticipated that Joe Gomez would have such a versatile impact on the Reds

Not even gone Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, had anticipated that Joe Gomez would have such a versatile impact on the Reds this year.

He struggled to establish a regular position, didn’t play the most games, concluded the season mostly as a substitute, and didn’t even get off the bench for Jurgen Klopp’s sad farewell to Liverpool.

But all one has to do to understand how crucial Joe Gomez was to the Reds this season is look at these remarks made by the late Anfield manager.

“He has already saved our rear end fifteen or twenty times this year by playing left-back; I didn’t see many players playing right-back in a particular way and now playing six,” Klopp remarked. “It’s truly exceptional.”

Gomez made those remarks following his appearance in the 3-0 FA Cup fifth-round victory against Southampton as a makeshift defensive midfielder. A few days later, he would play a similar role in the Premier League victory at Nottingham Forest. Less than 30 minutes into the League Cup final victory over Chelsea, Gomez had came off the bench to play right-back at the beginning of the week.

This has been the player’s season; he turned 27 this past week. Gomez made 51 appearances in his sole season with the Reds, and he only started more games in 2019–20. He has never been asked to play so many different roles, though, which has made him the most adaptable player in the team and possibly even better than Kostas Tsimikas in Andy Robertson’s left-back replacement role.

Surprisingly, he only started two games at centre back, which has always been his favourite position. But for the footballer, the past 12 months have been a kind of revelation.

Gomez told The Anfield Wrap earlier this month, “I’ve obviously said before I’m a center-half, but I think this season has taught me I just want to enjoy playing football, I don’t necessarily need to box myself in.” One major item on my agenda was to just be available and make sure I could contribute if called upon. As players, all we want to do is make up for not being a part of things in the past because it hurts. Nobody desires to be hurt or to fail to fulfil their responsibilities.”

Arne Slot at Liverpool might be "saved" by the player who exposed Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp concurs. Before stepping down as manager of Liverpool, he remarked, “He had some injuries, stuff happened, and he was in and out of the team, always important to us, but I think this season is the most consistent he played, especially because of the different positions.”

“I believe that he played the fewest center-half games (per season) since we were constantly in need of him elsewhere, and he performed admirably there. It really improved his game, in my opinion.

Before the season, if you had asked me about inverted right or left back and my thoughts on the number six in general, I’m not sure whether I would have responded, “Yes, of course, Joey can do that.”

Gomez was almost four years away from England before he was called up again in March due to his form. He was included in the 33-man provisional squad for the European Championships next month, so it would be shocking if he didn’t make the final 26-person team.

The defender, who was acquired by Brendan Rodgers a few months before to the German’s arrival, is, of course, the only member of the first team to have played for the squad throughout the Klopp period.

Liverpool is expected to sign a new center-back this season, even if Jarell Quansah, an Academy graduate, emerges. Joel Matip left on a free transfer and, if rumours are to be believed, is keen to stay in the Premier League, with Bournemouth expressing interest.

But Arne Slot, the new head coach, will understand that he is inheriting not just a guy for most positions and all seasons, but also a player who is at the peak of his abilities. Furthermore, Gomez may be the player who keeps the Liverpool team’s backsides protected going forward.

Liverpool’s international break winners and losers: Jurgen Klopp gave an injury scare

While some of Liverpool's best players were playing for their respective countries, including some who were pitted against one another

While some of Liverpool’s best players were playing for their respective countries, including some who were pitted against one another, Jurgen Klopp did receive some encouraging news, not everything went as planned.

Jurgen Klopp could have smiled wryly to himself if he had watched England play Belgium on Tuesday night.

Forget about John Stones limping off the pitch early in the match against Brazil last Saturday, following Kyle Walker’s lead, the Liverpool manager would have watched as Manchester City’s unorthodox hero ran himself into the ground for the second time in four days. Phil Foden has perhaps gained as much importance under Pep Guardiola this season as Mohamed Salah does under Klopp.

Even if Mikel Arteta’s squad leads the table going into Sunday’s match against Arsenal, Klopp may still believe that Liverpool will win the Premier League if they finish higher than the defending champions. Guardiola must have had a difficult international break, but Klopp will probably be happy with it all.

Yes, Andy Robertson—who missed three months of action due to a shoulder injury sustained while playing for Scotland—suffered another setback in his nation’s unexpected home loss to Northern Ireland, but Liverpool already benefited from Salah and Darwin Nunez being able to take a few days off and relax as they gear up for the Premier League final stretch.

Although Salah did not appear fully prepared for the FA Cup at Old Trafford, he will be eager to play after being exempted from international duty. Darwin Nunez concurs. Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Curtis Jones all worked on their recovery during the break, though the latter may be fortunate to return before the season ends.

Although the severity of Robertson’s issue is unknown, Conor Bradley achieved another first in the Scotland vs. Northern Ireland match by scoring his first goal for his country and winning Player of the Match. One of the highlights of Liverpool’s season has been Bradley’s rise, and his goal and performance against the Northern Irish will only help to bolster his self-confidence.

While some of Liverpool's best players were playing for their respective countries, including some who were pitted against one another

Virgil van Dijk, who had himself had a busy break, sent a congrats message following his performance. The captain of Liverpool, who was not hurt, participated in two complete matches for the Netherlands, winning 4-0 against Scotland and losing 2-1 against Germany.

Due to Stones’ injury, Joe Gomez, Van Dijk’s teammate, played more for England than he may have expected. The defender performed admirably in his two extended substitute appearances for Gareth Southgate’s team. Gomez is having a great time, and it will be beneficial for him to be back in action in England after spending a considerable amount of time abroad.

While some of Liverpool's best players were playing for their respective countries, including some who were pitted against one another

In Colombia’s 1-0 triumph over Spain and their 3-2 victory over Romania, Luis Diaz also performed admirably on the international scene, but his father made headlines when he implied that the family was hoping to move to Madrid eventually. However, it is still a while off, and for the duration of the club season, Klopp will be pleased that Diaz is healthy and productive.

Like every Premier League manager, Klopp was hoping that Liverpool wouldn’t experience too many injury setbacks during the international matches, and with the exception of Robertson, it seems like that is the case. Additionally, it will have been one of the better breaks for Klopp and Liverpool if it allows Salah to re-engage top gear.

Liverpool transfer news: Mohamed Salah and two Reds talents are being targeted by Saudi teams

Al-Ittihad showed interest in Mohamed Salah during the summer, and Liverpool may have to resist their advances for two more players

Al-Ittihad showed interest in Mohamed Salah during the summer, and Liverpool may have to resist their advances for two more players in the upcoming transfer windows.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is under further stress as a result of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury, dealing another blow to Liverpool.

After rupturing a ligament in his knee, Alexander-Arnold will miss some time. Along with him missing time due to injury are fellow full-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. But Liverpool may at least add more players now that the January transfer window is open.

Due to the Africa Cup of Nations and Asia Cup, Klopp is currently without Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo as well. As a result, all hands must be on deck. Here are the most recent speculations and news regarding the club. There is still plenty of time in the January window to take action.

The threat from Saudi Arabia grows.

Al-Ittihad made a strong drive to capture Salah during the summer, presenting the star player from Liverpool with an incredible package valued at an astounding £215 million. The Saudi Pro League may still seek more Liverpool players in the summer, so this threat isn’t going to go away.

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Sadio Mane all headed for the riches of the Middle East last summer and Caught Offside predicts that Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will be targeted at the end of the 2023/24 season. Steven Gerrard is in charge of Al-Ettifaq, and it has been claimed that he recently convened a recruitment meeting to identify prospects for the next summer season.

Matip is currently sidelined with a significant knee injury and his term expires at the end of the season, although Klopp has raised the prospect of the club extending it. Because of his recent injuries, Gomez has emerged as an important player, and Liverpool will be reluctant to lose him.

    Mbappe is still available

Al-Ittihad showed interest in Mohamed Salah during the summer, and Liverpool may have to resist their advances for two more players

Kylian Mbappe is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain in June and had been largely expected to join Real Madrid following years of not-so-subtle wooing. Real Madrid and he are in negotiations, but Liverpool is still a possibility.

ESPN believes reports that he has committed himself to the Spanish giants are off of the mark and Liverpool could yet reach out to Mbappe. This month, when asked about his future, Mbappe replied, “I haven’t made my decision yet.” I haven’t decided what to do.

The possibility of Liverpool losing Salah to Saudi Arabia makes the signing of Mbappe appear less absurd. He is set on moving on from the club this summer, as he has already committed to forgoing a £69 million loyalty bonus.

    Hull make Carvalho promise

The announcement of Liverpool youngster Fabio Carvalho’s loan move to Hull City till the end of the season was announced on Wednesday. Liverpool cancelled his loan with RB Leipzig early so they could get him more playing time.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder attracted a lot of interest, and Southampton and Leicester were also interested parties, but Liverpool had excellent reason to select Hull.

Jurgen Klopp has three alternatives to resolve the situation following Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury blow

Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool will be sidelined for “a few weeks” due to a knee injury sustained against Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp may choose to start without him in a few different ways.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury put Jurgen Klopp in a pick-your-own situation ahead of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg matchup against Fulham following his “a few weeks” recovery.

The 24-year-old Alexander-Arnold has emerged as one of Liverpool’s most reliable players in recent years, therefore the Reds will suffer greatly without him. Against Arsenal on Sunday, the England international was given the captain’s armband for his two goals and nine assists in 25 games this season.

But after tearing his lateral knee ligament during the FA Cup victory at the Emirates, Alexander-Arnold is now out for at least the next few weeks. Liverpool’s next match is on Wednesday at Anfield against Fulham, therefore Klopp will have to make at least one alteration to the starting lineup.

However, who will start at right back in Alexander-Arnold’s place? Mirror Football has examined three potential solutions for Klopp to address his situation on the right side of the back four.

    Like-for-like substitution

Jurgen Klopp has three alternatives to resolve the situation following Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury blow

Conor Bradley making just his second Liverpool start of the year would be the most likely scenario. The 20-year-old made an impact when he entered the game for the last 15 minutes against Arsenal, helping the Reds advance in the FA Cup.

Bradley is regarded as more of a “modern full-back,” one who rushes up and down the wing, launches attacks, and comes rushing back to help his defenders, in contrast to Alexander-Arnold, who frequently drifts into midfield areas.

Although the Northern Irishman made eight professional appearances since making his Liverpool debut, he didn’t have a steady run in the starting lineup under Klopp despite his brilliant season on loan at Bolton last year.

    Gomez in at right-back

Jurgen Klopp has three alternatives to resolve the situation following Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury blow

In spite of his previous left-back fill-in duties, Joe Gomez, 25, may switch back to right-back in Alexander-Arnold’s absence. After Kostas Tsimikas joined Andrew Robertson on the injured list, Klopp started using Gomez on the left side of the back four.

However, Klopp can choose to employ Luke Chambers, an academy product who made his Liverpool debut against Leicester earlier this season, in place of Gomez at right-back. Chambers could start against Fulham and went on to lead Liverpool to a 5-1 Europa League triumph over Toulouse.

    Jones’s experiment

This experiment was abandoned during Curtis Jones’ 79 minutes at right-back in Liverpool’s September victory against Leicester. Other from losing his marker for the first goal scored by the Foxes, Jones did not make many mistakes.

Although Jones is not a natural right-back, he can provide something like to Alexander-Arnold because of his outstanding passing range and ability to drift into midfield and take up half spaces.

But with Fulham having defeated them three times at Anfield just over a month ago, Klopp can scarcely afford to take any chances on Wednesday and may decide against putting Jones in an unusual situation.

When Liverpool will lose Wataru Endo and Mo Salah is confirmed by Jurgen Klopp.

An ex-Red said he “would be gutted” to see a “sensational” player depart Liverpool, drawing parallels with the Madrid duo.

Steve McManaman, who called the 26-year-old “absolutely priceless,” said he “would be gutted” to see one player in particular leave Liverpool.

Joe Gomez has been playing for Anfield the longest since Jordan Henderson left for Saudi Arabia in the summer, and he has been playing well lately.

After joining Brendan Rodgers from Charlton in 2015, the adaptable defender has won every major award imaginable while playing on Merseyside.

Gomez is “just as important as the superstars,” according to former ex-Red player McManaman, who recently filled in for the injured Kostas Tsimikas at left back.

He said to Liverpool Echo (via Rousing The Kop) that “I would be gutted if he left because people like Gomez are absolutely priceless to you at a football club.”

    Steve McManaman

“Going back to Real Madrid, they have two players who have been there for more than ten years: Lucas Vasquez and Nacho. They are adored by their teammates, if you ask any of them about their opinions. They remain there because of this.

“Players like that are essential to teams and hold equal importance with superstars.”

The London-born player is a fantastic player when he’s on his game, so we’re happy to see him succeeding right now.

McManaman is right to commend the England international because he’s always eager to lend a hand to the team when needed.

Having played every position in our backline this season, he is currently our sole senior option capable of playing left back because Tsimikas and Andy Robertson are both out.

Gomez, who has been described by Jurgen Klopp as a “sensational footballer” (via Liverpoolfc.com), has not yet scored for the Reds, but in recent weeks he has been coming closer, since his position as a full-back allows him to penetrate dangerous areas higher upfield.

If he could lead us to a win over Newcastle on New Year’s Day, it would be a fantastic way to start 2024—we’ll have to wait and see!

When Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah will depart Liverpool to play in midseason international competitions, Jurgen Klopp

When Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah will depart Liverpool to play in midseason international competitions, Jurgen Klopp has revealed.

Because of the diverse roster that Klopp assembled at Liverpool, it has frequently happened that important players miss games at the beginning of the year.

Salah, Sadio Mane, and Naby Keita have all missed seasons of the Africa Cup of Nations, which is primarily to blame for that.

However, the Asian Cup this year will add to that, as Japan’s captain is summer signing Endo.

The expectation was that Endo and Salah, who will also serve as Egypt’s captains during their AFCON trip to the Ivory Coast, would be fit for their FA Cup third-round match against Arsenal on January 7.

However, Klopp has stated that the two are anticipated to leave right after Newcastle’s Premier League visit on New Year’s Day.

In his lengthy pre-match press conference on Friday, the manager provided updates to reporters, including Andy Hunter of the Guardian.

When Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah will depart Liverpool to play in midseason international competitions, Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool may be without Salah and Endo for a while as AFCON takes place from January 13 to February 11 and the Asian Cup from January 12 to February 10.

They will, at minimum, be unable to attend the following four games:

    • Arsenal (A) – FA Cup third round – January 7
    • Fulham (H) – Carabao Cup semi-final – January 10
    • Bournemouth (A) – Premier League – January 21
    • Fulham (A) – Carabao Cup semi-final – January 24

They would miss four further games, including maybe an FA Cup fourth-round tie, if they get all the way to their respective finals.

That would also mean they would not be able to play Burnley (H, Feb. 10), Chelsea (H, Jan. 31), Arsenal (A, Feb. 4), or Brentford (A, Feb. 17).

As things stand, Liverpool will miss at least four games without their leading scorer and a crucial midfield player.

It is not ideal given the state of injuries in Klopp’s team, with Ben Doak, Stefan Bajcetic, Joel Matip, Thiago, and Diogo Jota remaining sidelined, Andy Robertson not yet back in contact training, and all of them long-term absences.

The boss has already hinted at his strategy without Salah, so it will be hoped that Mac Allister and Jota return in time for the FA Cup match at Arsenal.

In the Carabao Cup quarterfinals, Harvey Elliott started on the right wing in the 5-1 victory over West Ham. Dominik Szoboszlai is an additional possibility

Three are still missing despite four of Liverpool’s injured players returning to training before Man City.

Joe Gomez and Ibrahima KonatéNews about injuries involving Liverpool: A number of injury boosts appear to have been granted to manager Jürgen Klopp before of Saturday’s crucial encounter against Manchester City at the Etihad.

After the international break, Liverpool will resume Premier League play on the road against Manchester City, which promises to be the hardest task of all. Liverpool is only one point behind the current champion in second place going into the match in Manchester, but the significance of the matchup in the title chase may have returned after the Reds finished 22 points behind Pep Guardiola’s team the previous season.

The team would consequently have a two-point lead at the top of the table with a victory at the Etihad, which would be its first in the Premier League since 2015. That is, at least until Arsenal’s match against Brentford on Saturday night. If Liverpool loses, though, they might finish the weekend ranked fourth.

The choice to start the game around midday irked Jürgen Klopp, who told the media that those in charge ‘cannot feel football’ (via The Guardian). Although the club’s official website states that all four of his South American players, goalkeeper Alisson, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, and forwards Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez, trained on Thursday, there may have been some worry about how they would handle the quick turnaround. Here, Liverpool.com compiles the remaining Anfield injury news prior to kickoff.

Curtis Jones Ryan Gravenberc, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konaté

    Curtis Jones Ryan Gravenberc

Participating in the workout on Thursday were all four of the players who missed the 3-0 victory over Brentford due to short-term ailments. Thus, Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones may compete for a midfield position, and Joël Matip and Ibrahima Konaté will fight for a right-sided center-back position with Virgil van Dijk. Konaté was forced to withdraw from the France team for the international break. Joe Gomez, who is recovered from injury, is another contender to start at left back instead of Kostas Tsimikas. He did so in the 1-1 draw against Luton earlier this month.

Thiago, Andy Robertson and Stefan Bajčetić

Long-term absentees for Liverpool are not yet prepared to make a comeback. If the initial three-month diagnosis turns out to be accurate, Andy Robertson won’t return from surgery on a dislocated shoulder until late January. Thiago has also been ruled out until the New Year. Stefan Bajčetić, who returned from a catastrophic injury but only managed to play two games before breaking down again, is still being closely monitored by the club. The Spaniard has not yet appeared to train fully with his colleagues.

During Klopp’s press conference, there might be an additional update on the trio’s progress as well as the conditions of Gravenberch, Jones, Gomez, and Konaté. That is set for Friday at noon UK time, and Liverpool.com will cover every story.

    More news…..

Liverpool has been mentioned as a possible transfer partner for the 22-year-old Premier League player.

    Rayan Ait-Nouri

Although it is unlikely that a trade will be completed in January, Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri is apparently of interest to Liverpool.

This is based on reports from the French publication Le 10 Sport, which is unsure of the extent of Liverpool’s interest in the 22-year-old and whether or not they have contacted him.

Ait-Nouri has shown promise while playing for Wolves, and he seems like a capable long-term successor for Andrew Robertson at Liverpool. However, it’s unlikely that the Reds will view this as an immediate priority at this point.

However, Ait-Nouri is talented enough to transfer to a larger club, so it would be wise to monitor the Algerian international’s status in the next days, weeks, and months.

Le 10 Sport reports that it appears improbable that Wolves will allow the player to leave without a fight, so it may need to wait until next summer, and even then, it’s unclear how much he would cost.

Liverpool may be hoping to replicate the happiness they felt when they signed Diogo Jota from Wolves a few year

Liverpool hopes that by the time they go to play Manchester City next Saturday, their concerns about injuries will have substantially subsided.

Eight players were left off of Jurgen Klopp’s roster for the 3-0 victory over Brentford at Anfield before to the most recent international break.

However, there is hope that when the team gets back together before facing the Premier League winners, things will look much better.

Naturally, Alexis Mac Allister will be back in action following his one-match suspension for receiving five yellow cards.

Positive updates regarding the health of four celebrities who were sidelined recently due to injuries are also available.

Surprisingly missing from the team to play Brentford were Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate, the former of whom had to withdraw from his France international duties.

However, This Is Anfield is aware that both players’ absences were due to minor ailments that should have healed in time for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

A similar prognosis was also revealed by sources for Ryan Gravenberch, whose run of four straight Premier League starts was cut short by a knee niggle.

But starting next weekend, the young Scouser Curtis Jones—who is expected to come back from hamstring trouble—will present new midfield competition for the Dutchman.

Thiago and Andy Robertson are remain sidelined for Liverpool, and it seems unlikely that they will return to action until the new year.

After a recent setback, Stefan Bajcetic may be recovering on a similar schedule if the Reds go cautiously with his recuperation.

Conor Bradley, a right-back, is getting better. In recent weeks, he has intensified his rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre in anticipation of making a comeback.

    More news…..

About Mo Salah’s future at Liverpool, David Ornstein discusses what he has been hearing thus far.

About Mo Salah's future at Liverpool, David Ornstein discusses what he has been hearing thus far.

At this point, Mohamed Salah might be considering staying at Liverpool past the end of the current campaign.

Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia showed a lot of interest in Salah throughout the summer, and Liverpool turned down a huge offer for their number eleven.

Since then, it’s been widely believed that the Saudis will make Mo a second offer in January or early next year. Many Reds supporters may have already come to terms with the possibility that this is Salah’s final season at Anfield.

However, journalist David Ornstein now suggests that could not be the case after all. In a Q&A session with The Athletic, Ornstein was questioned whether the future of the Egyptian superstar had received “any noise.” Liverpool supporters will find encouragement in his response.

The journalist answered, “No, other than I don’t think it’s set in stone he goes.”

“I’ve even heard some comments that he would want to stay and carry on competing in Europe at the top level. Of course, it’s a big decision for the player and the team.

    Liverpool gave Salah motivation.

About Mo Salah's future at Liverpool, David Ornstein discusses what he has been hearing thus far.

The Saudi interest that surfaced during the summer, which was naturally turned down, was in some respects a good thing.

It helped Liverpool fans prepare for the possibility that, in a year, their Egyptian King may actually leave the team. That has been the general sentiment among supporters.

However, given that the Saudis frequently perform for audiences of fewer than 1,000, maybe the situation has changed.

Nobody knew for sure how the Pro League initiative would turn out back in the summer. Many well-known players were moving to the Middle East, raising hopes that the league would soon be on par with its European rivals.

That may still be the case in the future, but it hasn’t materialised as of yet. It appears more and more like it will follow in the unfortunate footsteps of the Chinese Super League with each passing week. Is anyone really bothered outside of the transfer window?

You can see why Mo might have been tempted by an offer a year ago. Now, though, there ought to be a legitimate doubt. It will appear as though he is conceding that his career is failing by moving from the Premier League to the Pro League.

Salah might still be content to take that step, but we believe his fierce competitiveness might be about to turn the tide. He is thirty-one years old.

Hopefully, Liverpool’s return to form and a few trophies this season will satiate his desire and convince him to stay. It seems as though things are about to change. Mo may finally have his “Wolf of Wall Street” moment.

  • Seven injured Liverpool players might miss the encounter against Man City.

Seven injured Liverpool players might miss the encounter against Man City.

Maxim Bajcetic Bajcetic is also not playing since he experienced a setback in his recuperation from an injury. His current issue is unrelated to the one that ended his historic campaign the previous year. But there's no date of return for the young Spanish man. When Liverpool takes on Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday, November 25, in their Premier League match at the top of the standings, there are several injury concerns.

Prior to their victory over Brentford, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez were sidelined by two further injuries for Liverpool.

Prior to the arrival of Thomas Frank’s dominant team, Liverpool was concerned about the health of both captain Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, who were out from the team’s midweek Europa League loss to Toulouse due to illness and injury, respectively.

Gravenberch was sidelined in the 3-0 victory over Brentford, but the rest of the team did Van Dijk the world of good as he put up another outstanding performance at the back. Additionally, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp had few choices in the midfield because Alexis Mac Allister was suspended for one game and had injuries to Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic. Trey Nyoni, a 16-year-old who is highly regarded, had to be included on the bench for the first time since he moved from Leicester City in the summer

However, defence issues also beset Klopp, as Gomez and Konate joined Andy Robertson on the sidelines. Due to his injury, Konate has been left out of Didier Deschamps’ France squad for their matches against Gibraltar and Greece this month. Axel Disasi, a defender for Chelsea, has taken Konate’s position.

The official diagnosis pertaining to Konate and Gomez remains undisclosed. Although Mac Allister is expected to make a comeback for Saturday’s top-of-the-table encounter at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City, Klopp is concerned about some players’ fitness.

    Ibrahima Konate

Even though Konate’s condition is now unknown, it is serious enough that he will miss France’s next international matches due to it.

After the international break in October, the 24-year-old returned with a problem that kept him out of Liverpool’s victory over Everton. Last month, Klopp, who has been vocal about his displeasure with the number of fixtures and player welfare, made fun of Les Bleus manager Gérard Deschamps. “He (Konate) did not start tonight,” he declared. Not even in the squad, he is.

“I adore everything about Ibou, but we’ve taken advantage of this opportunity to give him a little break. Ibou struggles with injuries occasionally, and Monsieur Deschamps gave him 90 and 87 minutes of play in the last two games. Of course, he could have played tonight, but he has another show on Sunday.

“Tell Monsieur Deschamps that’s how you rest a player,” Ibou instructed. Not thirty minutes only. However, we couldn’t be happier with Ibou. He’s an incredible boy and a great footballer, and France is lucky to have him.

Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport reported that Konate sat out the Brentford match due to a hamstring injury. He sent the following tweet: “Ibrahima Konaté will not be playing for Liverpool this weekend due to a minor muscle injury he sustained during the warm-up on Thursday in Toulouse while playing in the Europa League. It will take around two weeks to treat his damage.”

    Joe Gomez

Seven injured Liverpool players might miss the encounter against Man City.

Considering how well the England international has started the season, Gomez’s absence was unexpected and disappointing.

The 26-year-old’s play declined the previous campaign, and the Reds were eliminated from the Champions League. He has, nevertheless, thus far demonstrated defensive consistency and adaptability, which has been essential to the team’s early-season success.

    Ryan Gravenberch

Gravenberch might have made an appearance against Brentford, as Klopp had previously suggested, but he would be ready for selection during the international break.

Ryan has a minor niggle in his knee, according to the Liverpool boss, who made this announcement on Wednesday. “We hope Brentford has a chance and he will return after the international break, but it doesn’t assist for today. He was running today (Wednesday). This is the reason Toulouse isn’t present.

    Curtis Jones

Seven injured Liverpool players might miss the encounter against Man City.

Jones has missed the last three games for the Reds due to a “low grade” hamstring injury he sustained during Liverpool’s Carabao Cup victory over AFC Bournemouth, but he should be back for the trip to Manchester City.

“Curtis had a minor hamstring problem. He will return after the international break, but not before. It’s a very minor hamstring strain,” Klopp remarked.

“After receiving a red card for lack of rhythm and winning the games, he was in fantastic shape but felt a touch off. When I took him off against Bournemouth, he was resting in the dressing room and felt something, but he didn’t feel anything there. We had a very low-grade scan, but it cleared him.

    Andy Robertson.

Seven injured Liverpool players might miss the encounter against Man City.

Robertson is also not present. After sustaining a dislocated shoulder during the Tartan Army’s loss to Spain in October, the captain of Scotland has been sidelined.

Following surgery for the injury, Robertson is anticipated to make a comeback in the upcoming year.

    Thiago Alcantara
As a result of a setback in his recuperation from pelvic surgery, Thiago is still not able to perform.

The Spaniard’s 31-minute cameo against West Ham United in April was his last appearance for Liverpool. He is anticipated to return in the upcoming year.

    Stefan Bajcetic
Bajcetic is also not playing since he experienced a setback in his recuperation from an injury. His current issue is unrelated to the one that ended his historic campaign the previous year.

But there’s no date of return for the young Spanish man.

Darwin Nunez appears to have had a brilliant start to his pre-season training at Liverpool.

Darwin Nunez appears to be making solid progress in his pre-season training as he prepares for the new Premier League season alongside his Liverpool team-mates.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a decent first year at Anfield after joining the club from Benfica last summer, but still has plenty of room to improve as he seeks to fulfill his sky-high potential.

Nunez reported on the start of Liverpool’s pre-season training last week and appears to be performing very well in the fitness drills, which were shared on the club’s social media accounts.

The Reds released a selection of images from their infamous lactate test on Sunday and Nunez looked surprisingly relaxed compared to some of his teammates who appeared to be slacking off.

A photo showed Nunez running ahead of Joe Gomez, who finished second to James Milner in Liverpool’s annual lactate test a few years ago. The Uruguayan striker didn’t seem to have any problems either, while behind him Fabinho and Joel Matip seemed to be going much further.

Another post shared on Twitter featured a video of Nunez and some of his teammates queuing for a training session, with the former Benfica player showing more concentration than some might have expected.

As new footage reveals a transformed striker, Darwin Nunez, Liverpool's strategy for him is taking shape.
He also appears to have picked up a good command of English over the summer, having spoken mostly Spanish in interviews and training sessions last season.

He was quick to remind his Liverpool colleagues to maintain their high standards before the start of training, saying in the video: “[We’re] done with our holidays, guys, come on.”

Nunez scored 15 goals in his first season at Liverpool in all competitions, establishing himself as a valuable option for Jurgen Klopp both in the starting XI and on the bench.

He will desperately try to fill the void left by Roberto Firmino’s departure at the start of the new season, although whether he can beat last time’s numbers remains to be seen.

The striker is hardly the finished product and was criticized by some fans last season after failing to live up to the hype surrounding his arrival from Benfica last July. However, it appears that Liverpool are prepared to be patient in trying to nurture his talents and keep him full throttle over the coming months.

Reds icon Stevie Nicol recently lashed out at those who have already canceled Nunez at Anfield, telling ESPN: ‘You want the finished article but at the same time look around the Premier League and the money people are spending on players who they may not even have that potential.

“The man has had a season. They immediately said, “Is he already broke? No one ever gave this guy a chance. Wait a moment, let’s get this straight. Did anyone at Liverpool tell us when they were signed that ‘this guy is here, this guy is going to start now?’

“The transfer fee doesn’t always say that. The guy was introduced as the future, but after four months everyone knew about it. Four months! And they were told this guy was the future.

After a year and a half away from football, Kaide Gordon will start training

Liverpool might make a massive Kylian Mbappe trade exchange offer of four players. The 18-year-old winger has been sidelined since early 2022 due to a pelvic growth issue

When Liverpool bought Kaide Gordon from Derby in 2021, paying between £1million and £3million in training fees for the then 16-year-old winger, expectations were as high as you can get for a player with a senior cap to his credit.

When he became Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer in an FA Cup match against Shrewsbury that autumn, those expectations were raised, with speculation that Gordon could even be Mohamed Salah’s long-term successor at right-wing.

However, in the spring of 2022, Gordon appeared to be missing. There was unconfirmed speculation about various injuries at the time. Eventually, a pelvic growth issue was identified as the problem. The youngster hasn’t played since.

But according to The Athletic, Gordon will now be back in action. After a year and a half without football, the now 18-year-old is ready to participate in the pre-season. However, he will be on an individual schedule and will not tour with the first team.

So it could be some time before fans see Gordon play again, but if all goes to plan, it’s not impossible that he can enter pre-season a few minutes late, after which he can more easily get into action with youth teams.

as the season progresses. Hopefully, as this was a developmental issue rather than injury, Gordon can use the 2023/24 season to get back on track and, perhaps when the 2024 pre-season arrives, get back into the first team.
