These qualities helped get Henderson started in seven of the last ten games last season, which saw Alexander-Arnold’s defensive build-up and work-rate enable him to thrive in a reversed right-back role.

Henderson’s subsequent energetic performances for England last month in victories over Malta and North Macedonia were a further reminder that he feels he has plenty to offer at the top level, even if the standard of the opposition has to be taken into account.

Should Henderson never kick a ball for Liverpool again, his place in the annals of Anfield is assured after he has led the Reds to victories in every major competition.

But the captaincy is likely to remain hugely important to Klopp this season, albeit in an evolutionary way.

He won’t play every game this season, but few would be surprised if Henderson led the team when the Premier League clash kick off at Stamford Bridge next month.

Neil Jones says Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is “unlikely” to leave.
The Reds captain has been linked with a move from Anfield and, in a surprise twist, a reunion with former team-mate and now Al Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard has been mooted.

Jordan Henderson is back in Portugal ahead of his pre-season comeback and is showing off his impressive physique as he prepares for the 2023-24 season.

Liverpool’s pre-season kicks off on Saturday, almost six weeks after the end of the Premier League season, but the captain returns three days later.

Having played 117 minutes for England in two Euro 2024 qualifiers, Henderson, along with Liverpool’s other internationals, will be part of the second wave of players returning to training.

But that doesn’t mean the Reds just put their feet up, as everyone will have been given a bespoke routine to follow throughout the summer.

And it is clear that Henderson has been working with the skipper in fine form as he prepares to return to the AXA Training Center.

In a post shared to his social media Tuesday, Henderson shared photos of his workout at the gym along with a motivational quote: “Don’t dream about winning. Train for it!”

The midfielder returned to a popular training venue for the club in the Algarve, Portugal, in a fitness center designed for athletes and sports enthusiasts.

It’s the 33-year-old’s second consecutive summer training session in the Algarve: last summer he partnered up with former Red Danny Ings.

The captain will know he has a great season ahead of him as the Liverpool midfield has been rebuilt following the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Henderson made 43 appearances last season and played the seventh most minutes of any Liverpool player (2,558), but questions have been raised about his future role.

It is possible to play a similar role to the now deceased James Milner, but Henderson is clearly ensuring he is in the best possible shape to be a reliable figure for Jurgen Klopp in 2023/24.

Liverpool is ready to offer £77million and is confident they’ll secure signing – Report

Liverpool have been chasing Uruguayan international and Real Madrid star Federico Valverde for some time, and this time they believe the signing can be completed.

According to a Spanish source, Nacional, the South American midfielder was tempted to leave the Bernabeu when the Reds moved in with an offer last summer.

A fee of €80m was offered by the Merseysiders, but chairman Florentino Perez chose to decline it.
Now Liverpool have prepared an offer worth 90 million euros (£77 million) and they are confident of finally signing Valverde.

According to the Catalan outlet, the Anfield club believe Los Blancos will accept the £77m offer and if it is rejected again, they are willing to pay even more.

Valverde only earns a salary of €4m per season and certainly deserves a raise after helping Real Madrid win every title.

However, the Spanish giants spent a lot of money to lure Bellingham and now have a crowded midfield department.

Moreover, they are even after Kylian Mbappé and need to raise funds to poach the French international from Paris Saint-Germain. So there are doubts over Valverde’s future.

Liverpool have already spent around £95million bringing in the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to bolster their midfield department.

Two of Saudi Arabia’s biggest clubs in talk with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah over transfer

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia as two of the country’s biggest clubs have been in contact with the Egyptian international about a potential move.

The 31-year-old is a hugely popular figure in the Arab world and it would be great for Saudi Arabia to lure the winger into their league this summer amongst the big names they have already signed.

According to Rudy Galetti, both Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal are looking to sign Salah and have already made contact about a transfer.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT about Saudi Arabia’s interest in the Liverpool star: “He has definitely attracted the attention of Saudi clubs.

Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal are currently the clubs that have shown the most interest in Mohammed Salah . Contacts are ongoing and both clubs are trying to determine if there is room for negotiations.”

Salah has another contract at Anfield until 2025 and the winger is expected to follow. The 31-year-old is still one of Jurgen Klopp’s key players and will want to be part of the rebuild which starts next season.

The Egypt international could one day play in Saudi Arabia but it’s difficult for Salah to make the move anytime soon as there is still a long way to go at Liverpool.

Henderson adores the “fantastic” PL center-back Liverpool could still make a move for.

This summer, Liverpool might try to sign Chelsea center-back Levi Colwill.

Colwill has been associated with the Reds since the middle of the previous campaign. The 20-year-old will not, however, be sold, according to Chelsea. And the Evening Standard has reiterated that position once again today.

Colwill’s most likely final destination, should he decide to leave Stamford Bridge, is currently thought to be Brighton. The Standard asserts that any attempt to include Colwill in that deal will be rejected because the two clubs are scheduled to meet in the coming days to discuss Moises Caicedo.

Contrary bidders may not yet be deterred despite this steadfast and transparent stance. Two candidates who could still make an offer for the England U-21 international are Liverpool and Manchester City.

The events of the upcoming days may determine whether they do or not. Colwill is reportedly waiting to speak with new manager Mauricio Pochettino before accepting a contract offer from Chelsea, despite having one on the table.

The young defender reportedly wants assurance regarding playing time as Pochettino is scheduled to begin his job on Monday.
If everything goes as planned, he appears to agree.
If not, perhaps Liverpool will notice a chance.

Colwill is waiting for crucial discussions.

There seems to be quite the rush to secure Colwill if he does become actively available during this window.

His two seasons playing on loan have been excellent. Lewis O’Brien praised him as “fantastic” during his time at Huddersfield in 2021/22 after he displayed his talent with Brighton in the Premier League the previous season [Yorkshire Live].

Another admirer of Colwill is Jordan Henderson, who spoke highly of him while Colwill was in a recent England training camp.

However, if the youngster is looking for playing time, Liverpool is not the place for him right now. The Reds are undoubtedly looking for a left-footed center back in Colwill’s mold, but that would be a more long-term solution.

Ibrahima Konate is currently his obvious partner because Virgil van Dijk isn’t leaving just yet.

They will have to accept that if any left-sided defender does move to Anfield this summer.

We don’t see how Colwill’s concerns about joining the Reds would be allayed after hearing the specifics of his Chelsea situation. We wouldn’t mind seeing it happen, but let’s wait to get excited until after the outcome of his discussions with Poch.

Declan Rice has just proved another Liverpool transfer point, and the Arsenal bid supports the FSG plan.

Arsenal have made their latest offer for Declan Rice. With another milestone achieved, Liverpool and FSG will feel their transfer strategy is justified.

While Liverpool fans are getting nervous that they’ve only completed one transfer so far, the rest of the big six are all but at a standstill.

Manchester City have announced Mateo Kovačić, while Chelsea had signed a deal for Christopher Nkunku well in advance, but there’s little else to write home about as several sagas unfold.

Chief among these is the situation of Declan Rice, with West Ham doing their best to push the price of their valuable asset as high as possible.

Arsenal appear to have managed to outlast Manchester City, with their latest offer prompting Pep Guardiola’s side to withdraw from the fray (The Athletic), but there is now a huge amount of money on the table.

Not yet technically accepted by West Ham, Arsenal’s latest formal offer guarantees a whopping $126m (£100m/€116m), with a small number of add-ons bringing the total value of the offer up to $133m (£105m). /121 million euros). This will particularly strike Liverpool as a very significant figure.

To begin with, it’s well above Liverpool’s transfer record, with the FSG never having approved anything even close to this area.

No doubt the owners will be surprised to see Arsenal spending so generously after being out of the Champions League for so long. But the ultimate value of Arsenal’s offer is particularly surprising as it is exactly three times what Liverpool have already paid to bring Alexis Mac Allister to the club. This difference speaks volumes.

Let me be clear: the FSG model is far from perfect. Claiming that a club is completely self-sustainable places a limit on ambition, a limit that is harder to challenge with each new state-backed acquisition.

Given the more than tenfold increase in value the owners have seen at Liverpool, it’s not unreasonable to suggest that he should be willing to put some money into it, with any huge profit still very certain. But there’s a good middle ground between that and penalizing exorbitant fees for ill-conceived transfer moves.

That’s not to say Arsenal are necessarily wrong in going after Rice, but question marks must be raised as to whether this is really the wisest use of such huge funds.

After all, Liverpool faced a very similar arithmetic when deciding whether or not to pursue Jude Bellingham in hot pursuit. He came to the decision to move forward and basically came to the conclusion that he could get three very good midfielders for the same price.

In Rice’s case, given the value of Arsenal’s latest offer, that appears to be literally true. Even the most ardent Gooner (or West Ham supporter) wouldn’t say Rice is three times stronger than Mac Allister. He has more of a top sample and is a homegrown player – Arsenal will pay for that luxury.

But even then, he’s still a player with just a year on his contract and able to negotiate a free transfer in around six months. In this context, the advertised fees are truly mind-blowing.

The question that needs to be asked is whether Rice is a truly transformative acquisition. If so, the concept of “value” sort of almost goes out the window.

Realistically, no one in this region will ever sign a contract anywhere in this region for the club to end up making a profit – the large bounty is accepted because of what it will mean on the pitch. It is clear that Arsenal think they have found that player.

If the move continues, time will tell how correct that judgment is. But for Liverpool, the numbers now fed into Rice’s saga only confirm Mac Allister’s masterstroke. However, FSG will be satisfied with their plan, confident they can strengthen at least as much as Arsenal this transfer window without overpaying.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for club and country in recent seasons and was recently linked with a departure from Italy.

Liverpool are in need of reinforcements in central midfield and the 26-year-old Italy international could prove to be a quality asset.

Liverpool struggled to control matches last season and some like Barella will help them keep possession and use the ball better.

Barella was a key player in Inter’s run to the UEFA Champions League final last season and would be an upgrade for the likes of Jordan Henderson.

Furthermore, Liverpool parted ways with James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita on a free transfer. They will need to adequately replace these players.

They have so far attracted Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion.

They need more reinforcements in midfield and Barella certainly fits the profile. According to Italian outlet Il Tempo (h/t Paisley Gates), Liverpool could be ready to offer €80m for the Italy international.

Barella is at the peak of his powers and could immediately improve Liverpool. He has the technical ability to thrive in English football and could be a key player for Jurgen Klopp next season.

The Italian recently helped his country win the European Championship and knows what it takes to win big trophies.

The midfielder also recently won the Italian league with Inter Milan. Although €80m might seem like a high price, Liverpool would certainly get a quality player in return.

The 24-year-old has become an interesting player for Liverpool after turning their attention away from England star Jude Bellingham. It has been reported that Borussia Dortmund are expecting a transfer fee of over £100m for the 19-year-old.

After some deliberation, the Reds opted to turn their attention to several new arrivals rather than a mega-money signing who would have broken their own transfer record and the UK record. Alexis Mac Allister was welcomed into the AXA Academy this summer after signing a long-term contract with the Reds.
