Jordan Henderson "offered" to two of the biggest teams in Europe, but Jürgen Klopp emphasises Liverpool's reality.

Jordan Henderson, the former captain of Liverpool, has had interest in returning, but Jürgen Klopp has summed up the current situation.

Jordan Henderson might have been three matches away from another historic Liverpool trophy lift if he had made different choices last summer. He’d be dreaming of a quadruple too, for the second time in three seasons.

Instead, if the Daily Mail is to be believed, he’s over in Saudi Arabia, frantically looking for a way out. The only thing keeping his present manager, Steven Gerrard, from losing his job is the small number of fans who are attending this disgraceful game.

Two of Liverpool’s new midfield additions, making up seventy-five percent of the midfield, were unable to start the FA Cup match against Arsenal. Bobby Clark had made his introduction by the time the match ended. Henderson was aware that if he stayed at Anfield, he would not be a sure starter, but there would have been minutes available.

Liverpool, meanwhile, hasn’t looked back and won’t do so anytime soon. Jürgen Klopp was questioned about Henderson’s situation and the likelihood of a comeback following the victory. The manager’s expression certainly said more about him than his response, but when the two last spoke, he affirmed that this was not a matter on the agenda.

Jordan Henderson "offered" to two of the biggest teams in Europe, but Jürgen Klopp emphasises Liverpool's reality.

So what’s next for Henderson? It is evident that he still has the trust of England boss Gareth Southgate, which must be confusing to Curtis Jones, who has brought such vitality to a once-stagnant Liverpool midfield. However, considering his current salary, it’s difficult to imagine many clubs choosing to take the risk.

Bayern Munich and Juventus have reportedly made an offer for Henderson, according to talkSPORT. In addition, ‘nearly every Premier League club’ and Bayer Leverkusen have expressed interest in him.

However, Al-Ettifaq has not made such offer because it does not want to approve of a sale and believes that his salary will probably be a barrier to obtaining a loan. An interested party would have to work hard to negotiate a transaction given these obstacles.

According to Liverpool.com, could teams like Juventus or Bayern Munich actually attempt to free Henderson from Saudi Arabia at a substantial financial expense? Taking him on as a low-risk wager would be one thing, but the 33-year-old has an extremely weak hand because his club is not a willing seller.

If things were different, it would be simple to feel bad for him. However, when Henderson signed on the dotted line and prioritised money over a plethora of other factors, all of this was ludicrously foreseeable. Liverpool has fully moved on, and the midfield player may also need to find a way to accept his decision.

Carragher selects two men to take Salah’s place at Liverpool – It’ll be intriguing

Harvey Elliot and Dominik Szoboszlai have been selected by Liverpool great Jamie Carragher to take Mohamed Salah's position

Harvey Elliot and Dominik Szoboszlai have been selected by Liverpool great Jamie Carragher to take Mohamed Salah’s position when he leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) later this month.

On Monday night, Salah scored two goals for Liverpool against Newcastle United while playing in outstanding form.

The Reds’ victory sent them three points clear atop the Premier League standings, and the Egyptian international also contributed an assist.

Salah’s final game for Liverpool before joining the Egypt team was the encounter against Newcastle.

If Egypt advances to the AFCON final in Ivory Coast, Salah may miss up to eight games for Liverpool, which would provide manager Jurgen Klopp with a difficult offensive situation.

But before Salah leaves for the AFCON, Carragher has picked Elliot and Szoboszlai to fill in for him.

Carragher told Sky Sports, “It will be very interesting to see who he puts in that position.”

Numerous strikers for Liverpool have right footedness. While Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo all appear to be capable of going on the left, nobody appears to have the proper balance to go on the right.

“Harvey Elliot is one of the alternatives. Although he lacks the speed to play in the front three, I believe he is more of a midfield midfielder.

Additionally, Szoboszlai. With Alexis Mac Allister back, Liverpool have a lot of alternatives in the midfield; Szoboszlai played there for his previous team.

“But it will be very difficult to replace his [Salah’s] goals.”

Arsenal vs. Liverpool: Expected starting lineup, official team news, and most recent injuries for the FA Cup match

    Liverpool team news

Dominik Szoboszlai won’t be with Liverpool when they travel to Arsenal on Sunday for the FA Cup.

The Hungarian midfielder suffered a hamstring injury during the team’s most recent victory over Newcastle. As a result, manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled him out of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final match against Fulham on Wednesday night and this weekend’s heavyweight third-round match.

“I can attest that it is an injury and not a possible one. Hamstring muscle. At his pre-Arsenal press conference, Klopp told reporters, “But now we have to see.”

“We will have to wait a little while, but Dom is really upbeat and doesn’t have much pain. Therefore, there is obviously no hope for Sunday or Wednesday. No.

“After that, we’ll see; hopefully, he might return, but we’re not sure.”

The Reds kick off at the Emirates Stadium without Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo, who are now away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Asian Cup, respectively, for almost a month.

As they attempt to complete their injury comebacks, Alexis Mac Allister and Diogo Jota might be selected to start against Arsenal, while Harvey Elliott might be the man to take Salah’s spot on the right wing.

In the early stages of the FA Cup, Klopp is often expected to rotate his team, but he has made references to fielding a strong team for a high-profile match against Premier League title rivals.

“I’m not sure if we should rotate against Arsenal right now,” he remarked. “As I sit here, I honestly don’t know if we have the chance to do so, whatever that implies.

It’s not like we have the most talented team on hand. We can put together a strong team with the talents we have available, and I believe we will do just that.

We have six days in between games, so I’m not sure if that looks like a rotation afterwards. Rotation is not necessary because that is so long. Say something like, “We have another game three days later.” That’s correct, but after the other game is finished, we may discuss that one.

That is our typical behaviour, and both are equally important. Nothing exists in the meantime. We want to win these games, advance to the championship game, and move on to the next round, but this draw is probably as difficult as it gets.

“It’s going to be difficult, but we played well here, so hopefully we can do well there as well.”

Predicted Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez; Jones, Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Elliott, Gakpo, Diaz

Injured: Thiago, Bajcetic, Robertson, Tsimikas, Doak, Matip, Szoboszlai

    Unavailable: Salah, Endo

Arsenal vs. Liverpool: Expected starting lineup, official team news, and most recent injuries for the FA Cup match

In an attempt to prevent a devastating early cup elimination, Mikel Arteta will choose a solid squad for the Gunners.

A late fitness test is required of Oleksandr Zinchenko before Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Liverpool.

The left-back was scheduled to get a scan on Monday after missing last Sunday’s loss to Fulham because of a calf issue.

Zinchenko is making good progress, according to Arteta, but after training on Saturday, a decision about his health will be taken in advance of Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round match against Liverpool the following day.

“He’s making good progress,” Arteta reported. “Tomorrow, we have another training session. We’ll assess whether he’s prepared to begin the game and available to play. There’s no news about the others.”

Arsenal needs to win this weekend at Emirates Stadium to go back on track after suffering back-to-back losses.

The Gunners don’t play again until January 20 if the game isn’t a draw and there isn’t a replay. Arteta is anticipated to choose a formidable squad on Sunday.

Aaron Ramsdale might make a rare start in lieu of David Raya on Sunday, however the Spaniard would not say who will start in goal.

Arsenal predicted XI (4-3-3): Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Rice, Havertz; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli

Injured: Partey (thigh), Timber (knee), Vieira (groin)

    Doubts: Zinchenko (calf)

Unavailable: Elneny (AFCON), Tomiyasu (Asian Cup)

Arsenal squad from: Ramsdale, Hein; Gabriel, Cedric, Kiwior, Saliba, White, Raya Zinchenko; Havertz, Jorginho, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Jesus, Martinelli, Nelson, Rice, Nketiah, Saka and Trossard

Time and date: 4.30pm GMT on Sunday, January 7, 2024

Liverpool makes a formal club announcement confirming the addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Rhys Williams has been called back by Liverpool from his loan at Aberdeen. The news was announced on the Reds' official website

Rhys Williams has been called back by Liverpool from his loan at Aberdeen. The news was announced on the Reds’ official website and social media pages this morning.

After a brief stint in Scotland that was supposed to last the entire season but was suddenly shortened by his parent club, the defender is back at Anfield.

Joe Gomez had to play left-back when Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson were out, and Joel Matip’s cruciate ligament injury limited Klopp’s options at centre back. The 22-year-old’s return improves those possibilities.

Williams didn’t play a senior role for Aberdeen, so even if Liverpool had all of their defenders available, they might have been thinking about calling him back (Transfermarkt).

Nobody benefited from the loan, and while his lack of playing time in Scotland means he will be at most a supporting role for the Reds, at least he adds some depth to Klopp’s center-back corps.

With a lot of injuries to deal with following a demanding pre-Christmas and holiday schedule, the manager is probably going to rotate his team a lot for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup matches against Arsenal and Fulham next week.

Williams is no stranger to rising to the occasion in the midst of a long list of casualties at Liverpool; three years ago, he famously did so alongside the similarly green Nat Phillips to help the Reds salvage a third-place finish from a challenging season.

He may be loaned out once more before the end of the month, so it’s highly likely that his return to Anfield will be temporary, but for the time being at least, he provides Klopp with another center-back option.

Wataru Endo accomplished a feat not witnessed at Liverpool in eighteen years in their victory over Burnley

Wataru Endo accomplished a feat not witnessed at Liverpool in eighteen years in their victory over Burnley

On Boxing Day, Wataru Endo made history by starting for Liverpool against Burnley, a feat not witnessed at the club in eighteen years. All of Jurgen Klopp’s faith lies in the Japanese international.

Wataru Endo got the start for Liverpool against Burnley in their Premier League match on Boxing Day. He achieved something by doing so that the Reds had not seen in 18 years.

Liverpool hasn’t played a game in thirteen days, as Michael Reid noted on Twitter. Since January 2006, no player has been able to replicate Endo’s feat of having started every single one.

Rotation was less popular back then than it is today. Consequently, a number of players—Steven Finnan, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia, Steven Gerrard, Harry Kewell, and Peter Crouch—started five games in a span of thirteen days.

But since managers started to limit the amount of games players started, nobody has done it. Endo was unusual back then, and he didn’t really need to start the game.

Endo’s time at Liverpool got off to a rough start. In fact, he seemed out of his element in some of his early games, which were just plain awful.

But because Jurgen Klopp persisted in starting him, the holding midfielder is currently the most reliable member of the starting lineup. Naturally, part of that is that, with Stefan Bajcetic and Alexis Mac Allister still sidelined due to injuries, Endo is the only holding midfielder on the team.

However, it also demonstrates how much Klopp believes in the player. Endo was genuinely one yellow card away from punishment going into the Burnley match. The manager played him for the entire ninety minutes, not only when he got off to a good start.

He also never did pick up the yellow, and on New Year’s Day, he’ll be available to play against Newcastle United. Given the current course of events, it is reasonable to anticipate that he will lead

Jurgen Klopp has already stated Liverpool’s stance on the Kylian Mbappe transfer

Jurgen Klopp has already stated Liverpool's stance on the Kylian Mbappe transfer After being linked to Real Madrid and Liverpool, Kylian Mbappe appears to be making a choice over his future at Paris Saint-Germain. Jurgen Klopp has already spoken on a potential transfer.

Talk of a possible trade of Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool has been raised once more, although Jurgen Klopp has previously categorically ruled it out.

The French striker’s future is once again a matter of discussion, having been associated with a move to Anfield for years. Mbappe’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and he is now free to discuss a Bosman transfer with international teams.

The striker added that he hasn’t decided what to do with his future yet. Even if Liverpool and Mbappe are still linked, Klopp has already ruled out the possibility that his team will pursue Mbappe.

After even more links, Klopp said, “We laugh about it,” to Sky Germany in August. “While I believe he’s a really fantastic player, the financial situation is completely unsuitable for us. Not to give away the plot now, but to the best of my knowledge, there is nothing to it.

In the eight years that I’ve been here, it’s possible that another member of the club is planning something and wants to surprise me. It would be the initial instance.

Liverpool has made an attempt to sign Mbappe in the past, even if it does not seem likely that they will do so anytime soon. In a 2022 interview, Mbappe acknowledged, “I spoke with Liverpool because it’s my favourite team.”

Jurgen Klopp has already stated Liverpool's stance on the Kylian Mbappe transfer

Liverpool has made an attempt to sign Mbappe in the past, even if it does not seem likely that they will do so anytime soon. Mbappe acknowledged in a 2022 interview that he spoke with Liverpool since his mother adores the team.

You’ll have to ask her why I have no idea! We met them five years ago, and they are a terrific club. They were with me in Monaco. The club is quite large.

Mbappe is presently having yet another incredible season with PSG. Including a goal in their Trophee des Champions triumph over Toulouse, he has 22 goals in 23 games for the French team.

Real Madrid may be able to enter the competition now that Klopp appears to have eliminated Liverpool. Mbappe nearly signed with the Spanish powerhouses in the summer of 2022, but he instead inked a new contract in the French capital.

Florentino Pérez was incensed by that choice and criticised the striker for his u-turn. Real is still interested, though. Carlo Ancelotti, nevertheless, has kept quiet regarding a possible deal.

When asked about Mbappe, the Italian responded to reporters by saying, “I don’t recognise you, you must be one of the new ones who doesn’t know that I won’t speak about that [Mbappe].” I won’t talk about the subject.

  • WATARU ENDO ABSENCE MAY BENEFIT A YOUNG LIVERPOOL STAR

WATARU ENDO ABSENCE MAY BENEFIT A YOUNG LIVERPOOL STAR

James McConnellWataru Endo’s winning streak is now coming to an end. Or at least for Liverpool. Endo will feature in the Asian Cup alongside his fellow internationals, but it will be disappointing to leave Liverpool after struggling to make the starting XI.

Endo has been in fine form for Liverpool in recent weeks and has earned the trust of Jurgen Klopp, becoming the first player for the German side to start five games in 13 days. In the big games against Manchester United and Arsenal, he provided stability in midfield and was one of the Reds’ best players. But now Liverpool will have to do without him. Good news

A number of key players are expected to return to Liverpool in January. Alexis McAllister is available and expected to fill the midfield role vacated by Endo. Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara could also feature as he is expected to return to first team training.

These two will provide broad coverage in the absence of endo. But it would not be surprising if some young people were given the opportunity. Especially since Endo could miss nine games for Liverpool. Five more games are possible in the Premier League and four more in cup competitions.

    Under the Radar Talent

Liverpool’s academy players have been very impressive in securing promotion to the first team this season. The standout performance came from Jarell Quanza, but Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, Conor Bradley and Luke Chambers all impressed.

James McConnell is a player who rarely gets mentioned. The 19-year-old played around 20 minutes of football for Liverpool’s senior team. But at the same time he made his debut in Europe and the Premier League and performed brilliantly. He has also played in Jurgen Klopp’s last four Premier League sides.

WATARU ENDO ABSENCE MAY BENEFIT A YOUNG LIVERPOOL

Pre-season McConnell was one of the surprise names on Liverpool’s first pre-season tour last summer. He was only 18 at the time and was renowned for his academic versatility. However, he has yet to fully define his role. Things changed in the preseason. Due to Liverpool’s lack of depth, McConnell was at times the team’s second-choice midfielder and thus became a regular. With Trent Alexander-Arnold moving to right-back, McConnell took advantage and looked comfortable in that position. Klopp waxed lyrical about the youngster, describing him as “delighted to meet you” in the No. 6. In all, McConnell played 176 minutes in the preseason. He broke six of nine defensive tackles, completed 93 of 101 passes, had four interceptions and recovered 12 fumbles.

McConnell this season, finished sixth in the club’s U21 team. He stepped into a bigger role and captained the team on several occasions, including against League One in the EFL Trophy. In his new role, he has been one of the standout players for the U21s and the numbers bear that out. According to Premier League 2’s Wyscout, McConnell averaged the most tackles per 90 (9.34) of any player and also took part in the most defensive tackles per 90 (19.53) . In a match against Crystal Palace, McConnell won 17 tackles, made 11 interceptions and recovered 16 tackles.

McConnell is not alone among his colleagues. He also put in an impressive performance for Liverpool U21s in the EFL Trophy, helping the Reds get knocked out of the group stage for the first time. Not only is McConnell second in the league among midfielders in tackles per 90 (8.94), but he also has third in assists (10). effective on the ball
It’s important to note that he doesn’t just stand out on defense. McConnell is very efficient with the ball. Second in the Premier League, he is in the top 10 for final third passes (10.19 per 90).

Meanwhile, in Liverpool’s pre-season and competition matches, McConnell has a 90.7% success rate in a total of 107 attempts in 206 minutes. He averaged 6.55 progressive passes per 90 minutes, with 2.18 passes entering the penalty area.

And while preparing for the match against Liverpool, he recorded his second assist (pass before assist) on two goals (one goal against Karlsruhe, one goal against Darmstadt). Will I be promoted in January?
Without Endo, McConnell’s presence might have been greater. Even if Mac Allister and Thiago return at the end of January, the duo cannot be expected to play all nine possible games.

With Baycetic injured, McConnell is clearly next in line after McAllister and Thiago. He has been a member of the Liverpool squad since the match against Crystal Palace on 9 December. This means he will likely be called up in January. If so, he might want to grab the opportunity with both hands, just like Quanza did after Joel Matip’s injury.

Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch reacted to the Liverpool news yesterday.

Liverpool received some good news yesterday with Alexis McAllister returning to full training from injury and Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch showing him some love on Instagram.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are leading the Premier League. They have had a great season so far and are undoubtedly one of the favorites to win the title. Now the news of Mac Allister’s return gives even more power. Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch are in action as Alexis McAllister returns to Liverpool training.

Liverpool signed Alexis McAllister from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer. The Argentinian has made a good start under Jurgen Klopp and although he has attracted some criticism for his unnatural six-man play, he should be happy with his current position. Unfortunately, Mc Allister picked up a serious injury against Sheffield United earlier this month. He required stitches at halftime in that game and was later sent off as he was unable to continue. The midfielder has not played for the Reds since, but there is good news at the end.

Mac Allister returned to training yesterday and is expected to feature in Monday’s game against Newcastle United. The Argentine took to Instagram to celebrate his return. Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenbirch expressed their love for her in the comments below her post. McAllister’s return is a timely boost for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to have Alexis McAllister back. Not just because he’s a fantastic player, but also because another member of the squad will be missing soon.

Like Mohamed Salah, Wataru Endo is expected to play for his country after Monday’s game against Newcastle United. Klopp does not have another defensive midfielder available in Endo’s absence, leaving a huge hole in Liverpool’s midfield.

McAlister has played for Liverpool this season, although he is not the number 6. His return will be a welcome boost to a difficult January season, with United now facing Arsenal, Fulham, Bournemouth and Chelsea.

An ex-Red said he “would be gutted” to see a “sensational” player depart Liverpool, drawing parallels with the Madrid duo.

When Liverpool will lose Wataru Endo and Mo Salah is confirmed by Jurgen Klopp.

An ex-Red said he “would be gutted” to see a “sensational” player depart Liverpool, drawing parallels with the Madrid duo.

Steve McManaman, who called the 26-year-old “absolutely priceless,” said he “would be gutted” to see one player in particular leave Liverpool.

Joe Gomez has been playing for Anfield the longest since Jordan Henderson left for Saudi Arabia in the summer, and he has been playing well lately.

After joining Brendan Rodgers from Charlton in 2015, the adaptable defender has won every major award imaginable while playing on Merseyside.

Gomez is “just as important as the superstars,” according to former ex-Red player McManaman, who recently filled in for the injured Kostas Tsimikas at left back.

He said to Liverpool Echo (via Rousing The Kop) that “I would be gutted if he left because people like Gomez are absolutely priceless to you at a football club.”

    Steve McManaman

“Going back to Real Madrid, they have two players who have been there for more than ten years: Lucas Vasquez and Nacho. They are adored by their teammates, if you ask any of them about their opinions. They remain there because of this.

“Players like that are essential to teams and hold equal importance with superstars.”

The London-born player is a fantastic player when he’s on his game, so we’re happy to see him succeeding right now.

McManaman is right to commend the England international because he’s always eager to lend a hand to the team when needed.

Having played every position in our backline this season, he is currently our sole senior option capable of playing left back because Tsimikas and Andy Robertson are both out.

Gomez, who has been described by Jurgen Klopp as a “sensational footballer” (via Liverpoolfc.com), has not yet scored for the Reds, but in recent weeks he has been coming closer, since his position as a full-back allows him to penetrate dangerous areas higher upfield.

If he could lead us to a win over Newcastle on New Year’s Day, it would be a fantastic way to start 2024—we’ll have to wait and see!

  • As the Liverpool vs. Newcastle referee was chosen, Jurgen Klopp reunited with the VAR official he had chastised.

As the Liverpool vs. Newcastle referee was chosen, Jurgen Klopp reunited with the VAR official he had chastised.

    Anthony Taylor

On New Year’s Day, Liverpool plays Newcastle United in an attempt to maintain their strong Premier League performance.

The match between Newcastle United and Liverpool on New Year’s Day will be officiated by Anthony Taylor.

After their thrilling victory against the Magpies at the end of August, the Reds want to make it two in a row at home. Darwin Nunez, a second-half substitution who secured the points for the 10 men, helped Liverpool win.

Thirty minutes in, Anthony Gordon opened the score, and three minutes later, Virgil van Dijk was sent out, leaving Jurgen Klopp’s team down a man. The two Champions League contenders square off on January 7, 2024, with a seven-place and 13-point gap between the teams.

Eddie Howe’s team has been losing a lot lately, which has caused them to fall down the Premier League standings. They are coming into Merseyside having suffered losses to Nottingham Forest and Luton Town. This season, Newcastle had already travelled to the blue side of the city; on that occasion, they had a miserable evening at Goodison Park as Everton defeated them handily, 3-0.

In the middle of the pitch for the match at Anfield will be Taylor. The 45-year-old has managed 56 Liverpool games, eight more than Arsenal and Chelsea combined, making it the most in his professional career.

In that span, the Reds have won 31 games and only lost nine. This season, Taylor has overseen two draws for Klopp’s team: the first-day match against Chelsea and the October trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, where Liverpool was given a penalty.

This will be Taylor’s thirty-third match featuring Newcastle, and his second time officiating a match between the Reds and the North East team. Nick Pope was sent by the referee in February 2023 for handling outside the box during Liverpool’s improbable 2-0 victory over the Magpies at St James’ Park.

Although Adam Nunn and Gary Beswick will support Taylor, attention may be drawn to the Stockley Park VAR officials. Liverpool’s last two matches against Burnley and Arsenal have seen them on the losing end of technological rulings.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free kick was ruled to have caused a handball, but Gunners captain Martin Odegaard escaped punishment because it was determined that the Norwegian had fallen. Harvey Elliott and Cody Gakpo were given no credit for their efforts as Burnley was defeated 2-0 on Boxing Day.

    Anthony Taylor

After snagging a loose ball in the 18-yard area, Gakpo thundered home, but Paul Tierney adjudged that Darwin Nunez had tripped Charlie Taylor. Although Elliott’s finish in the second half was disallowed by VAR when Mohamed Salah was judged to have interfered with play from an offside position, the contact, if any, appeared to be slight upon replay.

Jordan Beyer of Clarets pushed the 20-year-old Egyptian beyond the defensive line as he converted from the cut-back. Diogo Jota would seal the victory in the last stages of his injury comeback.

Mark Scholes has been nominated to assist Stuart Attwell, who was chastised by Klopp during the 3-1 loss to Brentford in January for not calling a “clear foul” for the third goal. Attwell has been named as the Video Assistant Referee.

  • Jürgen Klopp was correct to make a “brilliant” transfer decision, as Arsenal might bring millions to Liverpool.

Jürgen Klopp was correct to make a “brilliant” transfer decision, as Arsenal might bring millions to Liverpool.

    Dominic Solanke

In the midst of an incredible run of play that has further supported Jürgen Klopp’s choice at Liverpool, Dominic Solanke is once again generating transfer talk.

Who is atop the Premier League scoring tally this season is not surprising. There’s also no reward for figuring out who comes in second.

At 14, Erling Haaland is now in the lead, followed closely by Mohamed Salah at 12. The name “Level with the Egyptian,” however, may surprise some Liverpool supporters.

The sadness that the then-21-year-old forward had not reached his full potential at Anfield was somewhat lessened when Dominic Solanke left for Bournemouth in January 2019 because he had managed to earn $24 million (£19 million/€22 million) from his sale. The 26-year-old Solanke was a vital component of the England U20 team that won the World Cup in 2017, and it was seen as a huge coup when he joined with Chelsea.

Solanke has contributed significantly to Bournemouth’s ascent into the top 10, surpassing teams like Chelsea en route, with 12 Premier League goals so far this season, including eight in his previous seven games. Furthermore, despite his long-standing disassociation from the team, Solanke may still be extremely beneficial to the Reds.

    Dominic Solanke

Shortly after leaving Anfield, Solanke’s add-ons became active, bringing the total price Bournemouth paid for him to $31 million (£24 million/€28 million) – the same amount, incidentally, as Sheffield United spent on Rhian Brewster. However, Liverpool still has more money to gain from Solanke’s departure.

A’sell-on profit’ clause was also added by the Reds to the agreement, and it still stands even though Solanke signed a new contract with Bournemouth earlier this season, according to the ECHO. This means that if the Cherries sell Solanke for more over $31 million, Liverpool will get 20% of the proceeds.

That amount is probably not going to be as much as Bournemouth would hope to get for the player that Klopp previously called “brilliant.” In addition, the Daily Star reports that Arsenal may make a move for Solanke in place of Ivan Toney, and that Chelsea and Tottenham are also connected, so the Cherries may be in for some offers soon.

Whatever the outcome of the sell-on money, Liverpool’s transfer policy has been further validated by this. They made a handsome profit on a low-risk addition to their team, signing him for a tribunal cost that was “closer to £3 million than the £10 million that Chelsea wanted.” In terms of his talent, Solanke’s play also demonstrates that Liverpool was right to pursue the forward; unlike Bournemouth, they could not afford to wait for him to develop.

Liverpool’s recall clause for left back could be activated following Kostas Tsimikas’ injury.

Liverpool may try to call up a productive loanee in light of Kostas Tsimikas's broken collarbone, which has joined Andy Robertson

Liverpool may try to call up a productive loanee in light of Kostas Tsimikas’s broken collarbone, which has joined Andy Robertson on the long-term injured list.

Tsimikas suffered a fall during Saturday’s 1-1 tie with Arsenal, and it is anticipated that he will be out for at least six weeks.

During the match at Anfield, the Greek player was rushed straight to the hospital. In his press conference following the game, Jurgen Klopp stated that the player had “at least” a broken collarbone.

It comes at a terrible time because Robertson cannot yet resume contact training following surgery in October to address a major shoulder ailment.

Joe Gomez is set to assume the role of starting left-back, with Luke Chambers, 19, and Calum Scanlon, 18, serving as backups.

Though Robertson should be back in training by next month, Liverpool does have another alternative to think about as they prepare for a stretch without both him and Tsimikas.

The club’s contract with Dundee has a clause that permits Wales left-back Owen Beck to be recalled in January, according to the Courier.

Earlier this week, manager Tony Docherty clarified, “We are still in talks right now.” “They and we are both happy.”

Docherty was speaking prior to Tsimikas’s injury, which could complicate matters because Liverpool’s top concern is to make sure they have enough cover.

Liverpool may try to call up a productive loanee in light of Kostas Tsimikas's broken collarbone, which has joined Andy Robertson

Although Beck, 21, is currently recovering from a groyne injury, he participated in the entire 90 minutes of last weekend’s 1-0 victory against Ross County and was anticipated to feature in Saturday’s postponed match against Aberdeen.

Docherty says he would just need to “put the reins on him a wee bit,” thus the scenario is one that can be handled.

The manager clarified, “He is that kind of guy that he is all in whether it is a gym session, a 90-minute game, or a training session.

It is evidence of his excellent performance. He gives everything he has to everything he does.

Sometimes you have to take a little bit of the reins when it comes to his training load.

“You need to keep in mind how much football he has played. He has had a fantastic season, but occasionally you have to give him a little more guidance.

In the Scottish Premiership this season, Beck has started all bar one of Dundee’s games. In the League Cup, he has started all four of his games and played the whole ninety minutes in each.

Although it is likely that Liverpool will feel that his growth is best served out on loan, Tsimikas and Robertson’s injuries may force their hand

The Japanese midfield player has truly established himself with the team, but sadly, international duty calls.

Following Liverpool FC’s 2-0 road victory against Burnley, manager Jürgen Klopp gave particular recognition to midfielder Wataru Endō. The Japanese midfielder recently reached a unique milestone in terms of consecutive appearances and has appeared to be very at ease lately.

During the post-match press conference, our manager discussed Endō’s recent performances as follows:

“I must admit, I really enjoyed this game. It’s unfortunate that after finding his footing, he is now off to the Asian Cup, but that’s life. What a player, what a youngster, and how very significant. We have to play without him at least in January, but he is present when we play Newcastle. The boys then depart, so we’ll have to figure out another route. However, I am very glad for him right now. Although it took him some time to truly demonstrate his abilities, I’m glad that we can now witness it.

Monday’s match against Newcastle United will be Wataru’s final before he leaves for Japan’s AFC Asian Cup training camp. The team, one of the favourites going into the tournament, will be captained by Endō. Iraq, Vietnam, and Indonesia are among its group members.

If they made it to the final, he would miss seven games:

    – the FA Cup tie at Arsenal

    – both legs of the EFL Cup semi-finals against Fulham

    – Premier League games against Bournemouth,  Arsenal, Chelsea, and Burnley

Wataru, best of luck. We’ll see you when you return.

Richard Keys makes an odd statement while Jürgen Klopp verifies a “very serious” injury to Liverpool.

Liverpool transfer target may be hijack by PSG as agreement is close

Following a potentially critical injury sustained during Saturday night’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Arsenal, Kostas Tsimikas will be sidelined for a while.

Kostas Tsimikas, a defender for Liverpool, was thought to have broken his collarbone during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Anfield. Shortly after the half-hour mark, Tsimikas was struggling with Gunners winger Bukayo Saka for the ball when Saka nudged him to the ground. As he went down, Klopp collided with manager Jürgen Klopp.

Tsimikas was unable to continue after a protracted course of therapy, thus Joe Gomez took his place. After that, the Greek international had to visit the hospital; although his official prognosis is still pending, it looks like he will be out for a long.

BeIN Sports anchor Richard Keys oddly blamed Klopp for his defender’s injury in a post on X/Twitter, claiming that the defender was positioned too close to the pitch. Keys has already used the opportunity to voice his displeasure with Mikel Arteta, Klopp’s opposing number, for his touchline antics.

“It’s an irony that it’s Klopp — with Arteta in the other technical area — but that’s exactly why a coach being too close to the playing area is dangerous,” he stated. The German team is facing an increasing number of absences due to injuries sustained by Luis Díaz in the match at the top of the table and absences by players such as Thiago, Diogo Jota, and Alexis Mac Allister.

Richard Keys makes an odd statement while Jürgen Klopp verifies a "very serious" injury to Liverpool.

According to Klopp, “I thought it wasn’t really a problem because I had no pain,” following the game, as reported by the BBC. “He would be fit again, and I would gladly give him my collarbone. At that moment, I was all right. Although he stated, “No, it’s broken,” I assumed Kostas was as well.

After the game, Saka expressed regret for the incident, but Klopp stated that Tsimikas would be “out for a long time” due to a “really bad” injury. It’s unlikely that Andy Robertson will return for a few more weeks.

According to Liverpool.com, this was actually just an unlucky mishap of the kind that can occur throughout any game. Saka’s challenge was correctly called a foul, but there was nothing dangerous about it. Klopp was essentially standing inside his technical area and did nothing wrong. Every game, we witness players being dragged down in that way repeatedly with no long-term consequences.

Liverpool won’t be worried about whether the injury could have been avoided. Rather, the focus will be on coming up with a solution, as Tsimikas joins Robertson in the treatment room following the latter’s shoulder dislocation. If Klopp doesn’t push young players like Luke Chambers or Calum Scanlon into the Premier League spotlight, it might compel the right-footed Gomez to play a longer series of games at left defence.

Liverpool transfer news: ‘Dream’ deal falls through amid Jarrod Bowen’s release clause hint

Liverpool transfer news: 'Dream' deal falls through as Jarrod Bowen's release clause is hinted

Despite back-to-back draws at Anfield against Manchester United and Arsenal, Liverpool finds themselves right in the thick of the Premier League title fight as the January transfer window comes near. On Boxing Day, the Reds will aim to cap up 2023 with a victory away to a revitalised Burnley.

The transfer window then opens on New Year’s Day, ahead of Liverpool’s next game. The Merseyside club can add players to their roster until 11 p.m. on Thursday, February 1.

After paying Porto £37 million, which may go up to £50 million for Luis Diaz in 2022, and buying Cody Gakpo from PSV for £37 million with add-ons at the beginning of 2023, Jurgen Klopp has bolstered his assault in the last two winter transfer windows.

Will the German, then, make use of the mid-season market once more to aid Liverpool in their pursuit of the championship and trophies in the FA Cup, Europa League, and Carabao Cup?

    Jarrod Bowen’s release clause

Liverpool transfer news: 'Dream' deal falls through as Jarrod Bowen's release clause is hinted

Last week, West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen was named by Jurgen Klopp as his “favourite player” outside of the Liverpool team, which generated quite a commotion. Michail Antonio, Bowen’s teammate, retorted, saying, “I think he’s trying to lay those seeds man, he wants Jarrod.”

“He is free to sow as many seeds as he pleases, mate. The man recently inked a seven-year contract, so if Klopp wants that, he can provide the funds. Given that Bowen plays on the right, who is he going to replace? Are you making any allusions here? Salah, are you letting him go?”

The Athletic first revealed in October that Bowen, who turned 27 this past week, had only recently inked a new seven-year contract with the Hammers, and that agreement did not include a release option. That followed reports that Bowen’s team had inserted a £40 million buy-out to the deal.

However, new rumours regarding the attacker have been ignited by West Ham’s sporting director, Mark Noble. In response to a question on TNT Sports about whether he has a release clause, Bowen said, “I am not telling you.” With 11 goals in 17 Premier League games this season, the England international is highly regarded by Klopp, but a move for the right-sided player appears doubtful, particularly in January.

Duo are expected back at Anfield

Liverpool transfer news: 'Dream' deal falls through as Jarrod Bowen's release clause is hinted

Nat Phillips and Fabio Carvalho are possible additions to Liverpool’s first team for the second half of the campaign. Out of Leipzig’s 16 Bundesliga games while on loan in Germany, Carvalho has only started one. Leipzig and the Reds have now initiated discussions over ending the agreement.

However, Rouven Schroder, Leipzig’s sporting director, expressed disapproval of the notion, stating: “These are standard power struggles. Fabio is under contract with us through the summer of 2024, and we couldn’t be happier. He’ll get the opportunity to play.” The 21-year-old will need additional minutes from Liverpool in order to stay at Leipzig, but it’s uncertain if a deal will be reached.

center-back In contrast, during his six months at Celtic, the 26-year-old has started just three of 19 Scottish Premiership games. His loan was only set to expire in January, and the Hoops do not plan to attempt to prolong his stay past that point—a move that has proven fruitless for both the team and the player.

Joel Matip’s injury may keep him as Liverpool’s fifth-choice centre defender for the remainder of the campaign. It might possibly be Rhys Williams, 22. The tall defender was sent on loan to Aberdeen, but he hasn’t appeared in a league match since. If he returns to Merseyside, it’s likely that he will be sent on loan to another team.

    Deal with Andre Trindade “collapses”

Liverpool transfer news: 'Dream' deal falls through as Jarrod Bowen's release clause is hinted

Andre Trindade of Fluminense was a target for Liverpool over the summer, but he turned down a move to support the team’s effort to win the Copa Libertadores, which they eventually accomplished. Manchester City soundly defeated Fluminense in the Club World Cup final, which they also attended.

The Brazilian midfielder recently acknowledged, saying, “I follow Premier League, and I’d love to play there someday. I have one clear dream: to play in the Premier League.” However, according to Football Insider, the Reds’ attempt to sign £30 million-rated Andre, who was thought to be Thiago Alcantara’s likely replacement, has “collapsed.”

Thus, he will not be able to fulfil his “dream” of playing for Liverpool. However, he might come to realise it with Fulham, their Premier League rivals. The 22-year-old is reportedly in the running to sign for the Cottagers, which could mean he plays Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 24.

    Joao Palhinha move unlikely

In the competition for a "outstanding" £50 million star, Arsenal does not intimidate Bayern, but Liverpool does

Joao Palhinha, Fulham’s current defensive midfielder, who almost signed with Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day in the summer, could be on the move with Andre expected to move to Craven Cottage. However, sources state that Klopp and company will not be pursuing the Portuguese ball-winner’s signing.

After adding Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister to their roster a few months ago, The Athletic reports that Liverpool feels confident in the state of their midfield. It is also mentioned that, given his age of 28 and potential £70 million price tag, Palhinha does not fit the typical player profile that they would want. Bayern might pique their curiosity instead.

    Carragher anticipates summer additions.

Liverpool transfer news: 'Dream' deal falls through as Jarrod Bowen's release clause is hinted

If Luis Diaz doesn’t find his playing form soon, Jamie Carragher has hinted that Liverpool may try to acquire a new winger in the summer. After recovering from a significant knee injury, the Colombian has not played well; in his last 31 appearances, he has only scored six goals and provided one assist.

Cody Gakpo has also failed to produce a sustained run of goal-scoring success. Additionally, Carragher stated on the Gary Neville podcast on Sky Sports: “Gakpo has been here for almost a year and a half, and he has shown sparks, but not quite enough. Following his knee injuries from the previous season, Diaz appears to be a shadow of his former self.

“I really believe that Diaz must have a strong second half of the season in order for Liverpool to enter the left-hand side of the market in the summer. Simply put, it seems like they haven’t replaced Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in terms of calibre.”
