Liverpool: 18-year-old sensation 'next in line' for Anfield breakthrough

Trent Alexander-Arnold can start for Liverpool against Brighton after missing the previous match.

The right-back made his first start in more than a month against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, playing just over an hour in the 2-0 victory in the Europa League, and will be ready to do so again three days later.
By starting the game against Belgium, Darwin Nunez assuaged any concerns about his fitness.

The good news for Jurgen Klopp unfortunately stops there.
Due to their red cards against Tottenham the previous time around, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones will not be playing, and he also has three other injured players.

While Stefan Bajcetic has experienced a setback in his recovery and Thiago Alcantara is still out injured, Cody Gakpo scored in north London but sustained an injury as a result, forcing him to miss the trip to the south coast.

The starting lineup for Liverpool was as follows: Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, and Diaz.

    Doubts: None

Outs include Thiago, Bajcetic, Jota (suspended), and Jones (suspended).

Time and date: Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 2 PM.

    Amex Stadium is the location.

Chris Sutton is having trouble understanding Liverpool’s recent statement regarding the PGMOL.

The Reds made a scathing statement toward the officials on Sunday, refusing to let the mistakes from their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday go unpunished.

In an odd turn of events, the strongly worded response has drawn a lot of flak.
Former striker Sutton, who questioned Liverpool’s motivations for Mail Sport’s “It’s All Kicking Off” podcast, added his voice to the chorus of critics.

“They aren’t going to get the game replayed, are they?
They aren’t going to get their points back.
The pundit complained, “There are decisions made with VAR, Brighton last season were wrong on a number of occasions, but I don’t think I saw any statements from them.

“I just don’t understand where they’re going with this.
When will this be over, and do they want heads on a platter for this.”

Chris Sutton is having trouble understanding Liverpool's recent statement regarding the PGMOL. The Reds made a scathing statement

Sutton challenges the claim made by Liverpool.

The response from the larger football community to Liverpool’s struggles this weekend was incredibly disappointing, and Sutton’s response sums it up.

The fact that those who are involved in the game fail to distinguish between, say, what happened to Brighton and what happened on Saturday, has really been quite astounding and eye-opening.

The Reds, like all teams, have experienced VAR errors that went in their favor.
One example of this is the failure to overturn Arsenal’s goal from Gabriel Martinelli at The Emirates last season.

But in that case, as in others, the technology didn’t operate as intended.
The camera had a blind spot, making it impossible for VAR to examine Martinelli’s goal.

In the FA Cup last year, Wolves visited Anfield, and exactly the same thing occurred.
Why should Liverpool request a replay when they didn’t demand one?

To begin with, no one from Liverpool has even suggested a replay or that Spurs forfeit the points.

Second, this was a completely original incident that had never happened before.
According to PGMOL, the goal’s disallowance was due solely to a misunderstanding between the VAR officials and the referee.

Clearly, the error was discovered shortly after the goal was disallowed, but nothing was done to fix it.

Since Liverpool’s statement didn’t go far enough in our opinion, we say as much. Sutton be damned, they ought to pursue this to the very end.

Liverpool analysis - Jurgen Klopp sends clear message to Wataru Endo as brutal new reality bites

After Liverpool defeated Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 in the Europa League, Ian Doyle provided analysis.

    Endo puts forward case

To say that Liverpool would ever use the Europa League as an audition for a prominent position in the Premier League would be pushing things a bit.

The three midfielders, however, were aware that by playing against Union Saint-Gilloise, they were likely putting themselves in position to take Curtis Jones’ place for the trip to Brighton on Sunday.

The most significant move Jurgen Klopp made on Thursday night may have been to replace Wataru Endo at halftime, despite the fact that Ryan Gravenberch was the star and Harvey Elliott managed the entire 90 minutes.

One of a number of pre-planned changes that also saw Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez leave was the substitution of the Japan international.

Additionally, Endo appeared to have contributed enough during his 45-minute outing to raise the possibility that he might start alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis MacAllister on Sunday.

After Jurgen Klopp gets what he needs in a victory over Union Saint-Gilloise, Liverpool cannot avoid perverse irony, according to PAUL GORST.

His earlier performances were no longer hindered by the uncertainty; this is the second midweek in a row that he has looked much more at ease playing the number six position. Endo appears to be the player Klopp claimed Liverpool had acquired.

Unquestionably, the ex-Stadt player offers a defensive mindset that none of the other senior midfield options possess, which would undoubtedly make him crucial against the free-scoring Seagulls at a ground where the Reds were defeated twice last season.

    Konate poses question

Liverpool analysis - Jurgen Klopp sends clear message to Wataru Endo as brutal new reality bites

The struggle for a starting spot in Liverpool’s center of defense has been one of the season’s more captivating subplots thus far.

When he was available, club captain Virgil van Dijk was chosen first. However, the struggle for dominance resumes after that.

After missing a fortnight due to a muscle complaint, Ibrahima Konate, who had begun the season alongside Van Dijk, was only able to make two quick cameo appearances in the Premier League, which allowed Joel Matip to surpass him in the standings.

Because of this, the Cameroonian has missed cup games this year and was again on the bench as Konate started his third straight game.
Konate started the previous two games alongside the inexperienced but unflappable Jarell Quansah, who once again quietly impressed.

Despite being aware that he would be up against the powerful Union striker Gustaf Nilsson in the first half in particular, Konate accepted the challenge.

The Frenchman successfully staked his claim to keep his place at Brighton, where Matip had a nightmare alongside Konate in January, despite a few hesitant moments after the break and one tackle that, while executed properly, risked giving away a penalty.
Which of the two steps out on the South Coast is a real choice for Klopp.

    European reality bites

The fact that this was distinctly not the Champions League cannot be denied under any circumstances.

This smelt and felt like a Europa League evening based on the lack of pre-match excitement, aside from the cheers from the enthusiastic traveling crowd, and the pre-match anthem.

The razzmatazz that was sorely lacking from a somber occasion could not be filled by even the second-half reunion of the Mac Allister brothers, Alexis and Kevin talking for a considerable amount of time on the touchline prior to kickoff.

Liverpool was just happy to get back on the horse without incident after their 19-game unbeaten streak was ended in such contentious circumstances, which may not have been surprising given the ongoing fallout from events at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Diogo Jota, who, like Curtis Jones, will be suspended on Sunday, provided the winning goal in stoppage time as a parting gift.

But on a night when finishing the job was the only thing that mattered, it was a forgettable one.
After the international break, Liverpool will play two games against Toulouse, who are currently second in the group after defeating LASK 1-0 at home on Thursday. Liverpool will want to secure first place as soon as possible.

Trent Alexander-Arnold makes Europa League admission as Jurgen Klopp rejects the "angry" Liverpool idea.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, and vice captain Trent Alexander-Arnold preview the Europa League match at Anfield against Union Saint-Gilloise.

Liverpool will only request a replay if it means continuing their strong start to the Europa League season and beginning yet another protracted unbeaten streak.

In a match that has been overshadowed by the ongoing fallout from their contentious VAR-affected Premier League loss at Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday, the Reds host Belgian team Union Saint-Gilloise.

The fact that Joel Matip’s last-second own goal caused Liverpool to lose for the first time in 20 games—a streak that had lasted since early April—is easily forgotten amid the uproar that followed.

And it was Jurgen Klopp’s team’s first defeat following the tactical change to a box-midfield, which has allowed Trent Alexander-Arnold to express himself more creatively and added a new dimension to the Reds’ attacking play.

However, when questioned about the setback, the vice-captain adopts a practical attitude.
According to Alexander-Arnold, “As players, we don’t really concern ourselves with how many games we’ve gone unbeaten.
“All we want to do is win every game we have in front of us, and we’ll start fresh with a big one.

We believe we have a chance to win that.
Our attention is currently on that.
You just want to lay winning foundations, get that winning feeling, and instill positivity throughout the team, especially this early in the season.

The important thing is how you finish, not how you begin. However, it’s crucial to ensure that you’re in a position to finish strongly.

Trent Alexander-Arnold makes Europa League admission as Jurgen Klopp rejects the "angry" Liverpool idea.

Liverpool is expected to win their group, advancing directly to the round of 16 without having to compete in a play-off round in the new year.
The 3-1 victory at LASK two weeks ago ensured a winning start to the group.

Despite the domestic suspensions for Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota, both are likely to start after the Reds made 11 changes for the match in Austria. Klopp is expected to rotate his resources once more.

Another player expected to start is Trent Alexander-Arnold, who came off the bench against Tottenham after missing the previous four games due to a hamstring injury.
Alexander-Arnold could serve as the team’s captain if Virgil van Dijk is rested.

And far from dismissing the Europa League, the defender sees it as a key objective for the season.

“As players, as a team, we’re not shy for what our ambitions are and what we want to do,” he claims.

“We want to win trophies, and the largest trophies available.

“We think we’ve established a solid base.
We have a good standing in the league standings, are still in the cup competitions, and have already collected three points in this match.

We will be able to assess where we are because it is still early in the day.
There is a positive energy and atmosphere all around.

After nine games, Union, who are currently leading the Jupiler Pro League in Belgium, drew Toulouse 1-1 at home to begin their Europa League campaign.

Additionally, Klopp is not disregarding the threat posed by a squad led by German manager Alexander Blessin, who briefly squared off against the Liverpool manager during his playing days.

We play a team that is dominating the league, sitting atop the table, and performing admirably after losing key players, according to Klopp.

“Unbeaten away in Europe for a very long time.
What they are doing there is extremely special, and we must be prepared.

It’s not like we have empty hands, we didn’t get any points, but all the rest we can use, and that’s what we will do, says Klopp, who will be without the injured Cody Gakpo, who is expected to be out for at least three weeks due to the knee issue that forced him off at the weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold makes Europa League admission as Jurgen Klopp rejects the "angry" Liverpool idea.

Klopp has urged Liverpool to build on their resilient performance at Tottenham when they were reduced to nine men.
Nevertheless, not in a furious manner.
Our current state of mind is not that.

“I was really proud of the team, and the team felt pretty good about it, which for us is much more important.
We have to make use of that.

“Morning’s game is going to be entirely different, and I hope our fans give them the support they deserve following a really trying weekend.

I have no doubt that they will, and I am eagerly anticipating a European night at Anfield.

The Union squad includes Kevin Mac Allister, who was acquired from Argentinos Juniors in the summer and is the brother of Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
This could lead to a family reunion on the field.

For Alexis, it’s undoubtedly a significant moment, according to Klopp.
It’s not the first time his family members have crossed paths on a football field because they have another brother and a cousin who play in the league. However, it’s unique.

“Brothers, huh, they love each other but fight occasionally, or that’s how I learned it when I was young.
I didn’t have a brother, but I did have two sisters, and that was bad enough!”.

At Anfield last month, Liverpool defeated West Ham with ease.
Before remaining very quiet on the field, Michail Antonio had made a number of audacious claims in the lead-up.

After West Ham’s defeat to Liverpool, striker Michail Antonio broke his silence to address the controversy surrounding his pre-game remarks.

Antonio expressed optimism in West Ham’s ability to defeat the then-unbeaten Liverpool team and advance further in the Premier League standings during comments made prior to the game at Anfield on the Footballers’ Football Podcast.
Fans, the media, and others were outraged by these remarks.
Even though he made bold statements, West Ham lost, and he was very quiet.

Despite his earlier predictions, Antonio had little effect on the actual game, which Liverpool won 3-1.

His absence from the podcast after the game allowed co-host Callum Wilson to highlight his underwhelming performance metrics.

Antonio’s absence was thought to be related to West Ham’s participation in the Carabao Cup third round matchup with Lincoln City.
However, Antonio only recently addressed this issue, jokingly claiming that his coworkers had set him up.

Antonio responded to the criticism by admitting that his predictions were incorrect, but he didn’t let it get to him. He jokingly referred to getting a metaphorical “pie in the face” and declared his willingness to make similar predictions in the future.

Antonio admitted that he erred in judgment, but he also noted that the result might have changed if he had taken advantage of his opportunity during the game. He thought West Ham had a chance to maintain a lead and earn a victory.

It’s interesting how Antonio went one step further and claimed that he “won the game” as a result of the level of obsession some Liverpool fans had for him before and after the game. He asserted that if West Ham had prevailed, some of these supporters might have even shown up at his home.

Before remaining very quiet on the field, Michail Antonio had made a number of audacious claims in the lead-up.

Antonio’s remarks hinted at the effect he had on Liverpool fans, highlighting the attention he received from them both during and after the game. He jokingly remarked that he continues to get messages from Liverpool supporters.

I have a large pie in my face, but it’s not a problem. I’m not concerned. What is, is what is. Antonio declared, “I’d go through with it again. “We got the game going well, and we had a few good opportunities.

The game might have gone differently if I had seized the opportunity, and we likely would have held onto the lead because that is something we are good at.

It is clear that Antonio is still self-assured and unrepentant despite the controversy and criticism that his remarks may have generated.
He doesn’t hold back when expressing his opinions, even if they turn out to be incorrect, as evidenced by his lighthearted reaction to the circumstance.

Regardless of how the game turned out, West Ham and Liverpool supporters will never forget Antonio’s comments. In many ways, despite the embarrassing outcome for the West Ham star in this instance, we shouldn’t discourage footballers from being so open and willing to speak out.

Liverpool is allegedly interested in a Brazilian defender.

Michail Antonio declares Liverpool to have "won"  As he speaks out about his embarrassing pre-match remarks

Still looking for a defender is the Reds. With a brand-new midfield but no additional defenders, Liverpool closed the summer transfer window with a bang.
It’s obvious that the center-back position needs to be filled with fresh talent.
The injury table is a point of contention for 32-year-old captain Virgil van Dijk’s teammates Ibrahima Konaté and Jol Matip like it’s the final musical chair.

Although Liverpool hasn’t historically done much business in the winter, they have been known to make exceptions if the need is great enough or the player is talented enough.
The ideal illustration of that would be van Dijk himself, with whom the Reds finally agreed to a contract in January 2018.

The Brazilian player Lucas Beraldo is one that Klopp and company are reportedly considering right now to fill the need in defense.
Currently, Beraldo represents Sao Paulo in his native Brazil.

The English and European teams are reportedly interested in him, according to the Brazilian media.

In addition to the Reds, Wolves and Newcastle United are also rumored to be contenders, and teams like Porto, Benfica, and Monaco are also being mentioned. The center back, who is 19 years old and also plays for Brazil’s U20 team, made his team debut last year.

He wouldn’t be the player vying for position next to van Dijk if he did make it to Merseyside.
Up until Klopp saw evidence of his abilities, he would hold down at least fourth place in the pecking order.

He might have been a good long-term project and a nice fit for the team, according to the scouting reports.

It’s possible, but it’s more likely that they’re just spreading false information and will soon disappear from the map.

After the replay idea, powerful media figures attacked Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool.

Chris Sutton claims he is completely perplexed by what Liverpool just did.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, can be quite fiery and outspoken when necessary, but he generally seems to be well-liked by the media, who pepper him with questions before and after games for their various organizations.

Because he never gives boring or monotonous answers and is happy to veer off topic while making a point, the German makes excellent television.

He does not agree with the blather that athletes spew into the media week in and week out.
No matter what, Klopp is happy to state the obvious.

Because of this, he has occasionally found himself on the wrong side of the FA, but part of what makes him so appealing is his openness and honesty.

Nevertheless, he might have finally gone too far, at least in the eyes of some media outlets.

The controversy surrounding the disallowed Luis Diaz goal against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend is still making headlines, and it has only gotten worse since Klopp suggested in a press conference that perhaps a replay would be the answer.

Gary Neville of Sky Sports and Henry Winter, the chief football writer for the Times, have both given that short shrift.

Both expressed their disagreement with Klopp’s viewpoint on X (formerly Twitter), and it’s likely that others share their viewpoint as well.

Even though the officials’ mistake was terrible, it was a genuine human error.
Replay requests would create an absurd precedent.

Liverpool: 18-year-old sensation 'next in line' for Anfield breakthrough

Liverpool have some exciting youngsters in their ranks at Anfield.

Liverpool have plenty of young talent waiting for a chance in the academy and Redmen TV presenter Paul Machin, speaking to GIVEMESPORT, has named the next player who could make the breakthrough as early as this season.

Jurgen Klopp has given plenty of opportunities to youngsters during his time at Anfield.

    Liverpool News – Latest

Over the years Liverpool have seen many young talents emerge in their academy, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler, to name but a few.
Alexander-Arnold, for example, got his chance at a young age and has been a mainstay in the team in recent years.

Liverpool: 18-year-old sensation 'next in line' for Anfield breakthrough

The latest player to break through is former Celtic winger Ben Doak.

Although he didn’t start his career in Liverpool’s youth team, the Reds signed him at the age of 15 and he began to impress at senior level. Machin previously told GIVEMESPORT that Doak has a bit of Michael Owen in him thanks to his speed and skill, which has Anfield fans on the edge of their seats.

Many youngsters have come through Liverpool’s academy and not had the career that many expected of them.

It’s a common theme across many English clubs, with many players having the world at their feet the day before they fly through the football pyramid.
With Curtis Jones, Alexander-Arnold and Doak establishing themselves within the senior squad, Liverpool fans will be waiting for the next academy product to emerge.

The Reds are currently playing in the Europa League, which presents a great opportunity for Klopp to provide opportunities to those who might struggle to break into the Premier League XI. Against LASK earlier this month, Doak, Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic were named the starting XI as Klopp rotated his team around Europe.

Liverpool: 18-year-old sensation 'next in line' for Anfield breakthrough

It wouldn’t shock me if he was in the starting XI under Jürgen Klopp this season – Paul MachinAnother player Liverpool poached from another academy is Bobby Clark.
The Reds paid a whopping £1.5million for the now 18-year-old Newcastle United player in 2021. Klopp handed Clark his Premier League debut last season, taking him out from the bench in Liverpool’s 9-0 win over Bournemouth.

Redmen TV’s Machin reckons Clark looks to be the next player to break through at Anfield.
The presenter adds that he would not be shocked if the youngster had the opportunity to start in the Europa League before the end of the season and that he is perhaps only a season away from being a useful player for Klopp.
In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, he said…

Can Bobby Clark make a breakthrough in Liverpool’s squad this season?

With Clark primarily being a central midfielder, it might be difficult for the youngster to become a guaranteed starter at Anfield in the near future.
Klopp benched Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo against Tottenham Hotspur, showing the talent he had at his disposal in the middle of the park.

However, Clark has shown he can produce at numerous positions, which could give him an edge. The Europa League could be the perfect opportunity for Clark to test himself against quality opponents, especially if Liverpool qualify with games to spare.

Gary Neville gives one reason why Liverpool won't be title contender this season

Gary Neville was speaking after Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Tottenham in the Premier League.

Even though Liverpool has its spirit back, according to Gary Neville, they won’t be a title contender this year in the Premier League.

The Reds lost their first game of the year against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night after a strong start to the season.
However, a number of contentious decisions made by referee Simon Hooper and VAR official Darren England cast a shadow over the game.

When it comes to the Premier League standings, Jurgen Klopp’s team would have replaced Manchester City if they had defeated Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Wolverhampton Wanderers had earlier in the day defeated Pep Guardiola’s squad 2-1.

And even though Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch all signed with Liverpool in the summer in an effort to overhaul their midfield, Neville thinks the Reds might still be lacking a “true holding player,” which would prevent them from contending for the title this year.

Gary Neville gives one reason why Liverpool won't be title contender this season

They definitely have a fighting spirit, as Klopp’s teams always do, the former defender said on his Sky Sports podcast.
They won’t compete for the title, in my opinion.

The fact that they don’t have a true holding player will present challenges, but their midfield is better and has adapted more quickly than I anticipated.

They’re in a respectable situation. Klopp might not be a title contender this year, but give him a few more transfer windows, and he might have something truly special.

“If Nunez, Diaz, Salah, Jota, Gakpo, and Gravenberch can start to build something this season, they might be in a position next season where they can challenge once more with one or two more additions.
    Not far away, in fact.

Klopp will be in a better position than he was during the transfer window, when he was unsure of what would happen and Liverpool supporters were a little disappointed that they wouldn’t be able to sign the necessary midfielders.

Despite the PGMOL apology and the VAR controversy at Tottenham, Liverpool still faces FA fine.

The controversial loss to Tottenham left Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp incensed, and the prospect of an impending fine is not likely to make him feel any better.

As a result of the VAR controversy in their loss to Tottenham, Liverpool may be required to pay a sizable FA fine.

After Curtis Jones received a red card in North London, the Reds were reduced to nine men.
As a result of two flagrant infractions, Diogo Jota was seen leaving the field behind him.

Liverpool continued to voice its displeasure.
The PGMOL apologized for a glaring “human error” in disallowing Luiz Diaz’s first-half goal that was ruled out for offside.

The Merseysiders’ situation could get worse as they may be required to pay a £25k fine.
Along with the two dismissals, numerous Liverpool players also received warnings.

In addition to Peter Krawietz, the assistant manager, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Virgil van Dijk all received cautions from the referee.

Liverpool visited Tottenham with five bookings, which is a requirement that the FA typically penalizes clubs that meet.

For those who receive six or more cautions in a single game, the penalty is typically a £25k fine.
Now it is up to the organization that oversees the sport to decide whether to punish Klopp’s team severely.

Liverpool could possibly escape punishment, though, given the circumstances surrounding the card’s issuance. Any fine will most likely make Jurgen Klopp feel worse. The refereeing decisions that were made against his team left the German incensed.

    Not a bad tackle

After his team lost by a score of 2-1, he said, “I was never more proud of the team than today.
I’ve never witnessed a game with such absurd decisions and the most unfair conditions.

“We scored an own goal, which is extremely difficult to accept, but I am extremely proud.
Curtis steps on the ball and is given the first red card. An excellent tackle, Slow motion alters how it appears. He oversteps the ball and charges it with all of his strength.
    That’s bad luck.
The initial shade of yellow [for Diogo Jota] wasn’t one.
He then receives a second opportunity, making it challenging to defend with nine players.

It was an offside goal, he continued.
As you can see, they drew their lines incorrectly; that is not offside.
They drew the line incorrectly and failed to recognize the appropriate moment when Mo passed the ball.
The ball is now between Mo’s legs.
Dealing with it is incredibly difficult.

The officials who made the decisions against Liverpool may receive a fine from the FA, but they have already suffered the repercussions.

What Harvey Elliott did to ‘special’ Liverpool player last night

Harvey Elliott was reportedly seen taunting Ben Doak ahead of Liverpool’s League Cup clash with Leicester City.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the 20-year-old midfielder was seen giving the teenage winger some last-minute advice during the Anfield performance of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

With Doak impressing again for Liverpool despite failing to get on the scoresheet, fans will be happy to see Elliott get the 17-year-old up to speed ahead of last night’s League Cup game.

Lauded as a “special” talent by Barry Lewtas, Doak is easily Liverpool’s most exciting teenager and a player who many fans expect to become a superstar in the future.

And fans will have loved what Elliott did with Doak last night as the youngster acted as a quasi-leader for the Scotland youth international in his first Anfield appearance.
In fact, Doak is on the Glory road with Liverpool and reassurance by senior players like Elliott will be the key in the young man who strikes his true potential.

Doak would have taken confidence from his Liverpool teammate

The expectations are high for Doak and the words of encouragement from his Liverpool teammates will be fundamental in the winger while maintaining his development on the straight and restricted path.

Scottish Wonderkid can become a superstar and artists of the caliber of Elliott who give him the right advice at the right time will help Doak to hit the big moment in Liverpool

Jürgen Klopp disagrees with Liverpool contract as Dominik Szoboszlai makes bold Manchester City claim

Liverpool and Chelsea intensify efforts to sign the 18-year-old defender.

Latest news from Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp is believed to have disagreed with Anfield officials over a contract, while Dominik Szoboszlai has sent a bullish message to Manchester City.

Liverpool prepare to face Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend.
Jurgen Klopp and Anfield officials are reportedly at odds over a new contract, while Dominik Szoboszlai is confident for the rest of the season.

Jurgen Klopp wants a deal for Thiago, but some officials disagree

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants the club to extend Thiago’s contract before the end of the season until after it expires, reports 90Min.
Thiago signed a four-year deal when he arrived from Bayern Munich in 2020 for a $31m (£25m/€29m) deal, so he could be in the final months of his Anfield career.
Unlike the manager, senior figures are not convinced Thiago deserves a new contract and are unsure whether the Spaniard has done enough to justify his salary, which is one of the highest at the club.

The 32-year-old is yet to feature for the club this season as he recovers from hip surgery in May and has only played 51 of 120 Premier League games since his arrival due to persistent fitness problems.

Thiago told the club he did not want to leave this summer due to interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey and instead decided to fight for his place, but further negotiations would take place before January.
And depending on the outcome of those discussions, there is a “significant” possibility that the veteran could leave the club during the winter window.

Dominik Szoboszlai makes optimistic predictions for Man City

Liverpool and Chelsea intensify efforts to sign the 18-year-old defender.

According to the Times, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has told his teammates that he hopes to win their matches against Manchester City this season.
Szoboszlai, who is playing his first season in the Premier League after a $77m (£60m/€70m) move from RB Leipzig, apparently asked the players which games on the calendar would be the most difficult. They picked the games against City and Manchester United, but Szoboszlai explained he thought they would win them all.

Liverpool, currently two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side at the top of the Premier League table, are set to travel to the Etihad at the end of November.
He lost that match 4-1 in April as part of a miserable 2022/23 season, but managed to beat eventual treble winners City 1-0 at Anfield.

However, Szoboszlai won’t get his first taste of the rivalry with Manchester United until mid-December, when the Red Devils look to avenge the historic 7-0 defeat in March

Liverpool issues a statement criticizing VAR shortcomings and outlining their demands, after Tottenham game

Following 24 hours of controversy and PGMOL’s admission that “human errors” were to blame for the VAR failures against Spurs, Liverpool issued the statement on Sunday evening.

Liverpool has deemed the justification for the erroneous decision to overturn Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham Hotspur as “unacceptable,” and they think the incident compromised sporting integrity.

The unusual action taken by the Reds to address the ongoing controversy surrounding their 2-1 Premier League loss to the Londoners on Saturday night was the release of a statement.

Diaz’s goal was incorrectly disallowed for offside in the first half with the score still 0-0, according to PGMOL, who confirmed the incident after the game.
This mistake was made by VAR Darren England and his assistant Dan Cook.

After the game, according to the ECHO, PGMOL chief Howard Webb apologized to Liverpool b for the goal that had been incorrectly declared as scored.
A review of the incident is currently underway.

The Reds, however, believe that the situation was one in which the rules of the game were not followed and the right result was obtained as a result of a VAR protocol failure, even though they acknowledge that the circumstances are completely unprecedented.

Liverpool Football Club acknowledged PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night in a statement posted on their website on Sunday night.
It is obvious that the rules of the game were not correctly applied, which compromised the integrity of sport.

“We fully recognize the pressures that match officials face, but the presence and use of VAR should serve to lessen rather than increase these pressures.

“Therefore, it is unacceptable that no subsequent intervention was made and that adequate time was not provided to allow the right decision to be made.

“It is also unacceptable that such errors have already been labeled as “significant human error.”. Any and all conclusions should only be reached after a thorough review that is conducted in public.

This is crucial for the validity of decisions made in the future because it applies to all clubs and the lessons learned will be applied to better processes that will ensure situations like this won’t happen again.

Given the obvious need for escalation and resolution, we will investigate the range of options in the interim.

According to reports, Liverpool wants any review to focus on more than just the goal that was incorrectly declared as goal-scoring and to address more general concerns regarding the appointment of match officials as well as the process and implementation of VAR.

On Sunday, it was revealed that England and Cook had been a part of the team that officiated a match between Sharjah and Al Ain last Thursday in the United Arab Emirates.
England served as the VAR, and Cook served as the assistant referee.

Following their participation in the controversy at Tottenham, the two were removed from their remaining Premier League responsibilities over the weekend.

According to reports, Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in signing the gifted young defender Patrick Dorgu

According to Fichajes, the Lecce defender has attracted the interest of Premier League clubs with his performances in the Italian league and could prove to be a sound, long-term investment for both clubs.

Marc Cucurella, a former defender for Brighton who cost Chelsea a lot of money, has fallen short of Chelsea’s expectations since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea could definitely use more depth at left-back, as Ben Chilwell is currently the only dependable player on the team.
In the London club’s first team, Dorgu might compete with Chilwell as Chilwell’s backup.

Liverpool needs to find a good replacement for Andrew Robertson in the meantime.

Since joining the team from Hull City, the Scottish defender has excelled, but over the past 12 months, his performances have been patchy.

With Kostas Tsimikas’s lackluster performance, he could definitely use more opposition.

Both Premier League clubs would be making wise investments by signing Dorgu, but it is still unclear whether they will make a formal offer to do so.

Both teams appear to be working harder than ever to sign the 18-year-old, but it’s still unclear whether they can come to terms on a contract with Lecce.

The Italian team probably won’t be in a hurry to part with their prized prospect, but if a sizable offer is put forward, they might be persuaded
