Liverpool deal agreed after double-pronged defender decision, with Klopp preparing to benefit next year

    Billy Koumetio
According to reports in France, Liverpool has agreed to loan Billy Koumetio to US Dunkerque.

Koumetio will temporarily play in the French second division as a result of the transfer, though Liverpool did not give Dunkerque the option to purchase the defender. To put it another way, they’ve decided that while it would be best for him to grow elsewhere this season, they also don’t want to lose control of his career.

If everything goes as planned, Koumetio will return to Liverpool the following year with more experience under his belt, hoping to leave a bigger impression on Jurgen Klopp.

If Liverpool don’t work out a contract extension before sending him off, he will have one year left on his contract when his loan in Dunkirk comes to an end.

Koumetio spent a portion of last season on loan at Austria Vienna, but he was called back after only six months due to a dearth of regular playing time.

He will now advance with Dunkerque, a new team in Ligue 2, after they were promoted from France’s third tier last season. He is still only 20 years old.

After passing through the youth ranks of Lyon and US Orleans, they will be giving him his first opportunity to play for a club in his country of birth at the senior level.

Koumetio has previously appeared twice for the Liverpool first team, but neither of those appearances came during the 2017–18 campaign.

Liverpool deal agreed after double-pronged defender decision, with Klopp preparing to benefit next year
He is currently on track to join the list of recent young prospects to leave them on loan this summer, joining the likes of Calvin Ramsay, Fabio Carvalho, Rhys Williams, Aberdeen, and Sepp van den Berg.

Gomez is a subject of interest for Liverpool as well.
Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, and Joe Gomez are the senior center backs still available to Klopp, though the latter is also being linked with a transfer.

Following their acquisition of Fabinho from Liverpool and pursuit of Mohamed Salah this summer, Al-Ittihad appears to be interested in Gomez.

The Times has updated their report, stating that West Ham may be eager to provide the England international with an alternative Premier League platform as he seeks to regain his place in Gareth Southgate’s squad. But his Liverpool contract is still set to expire in 2027.

Additionally, what transpires with Liverpool’s Nat Phillips before the transfer window closes remains to be seen. Leeds United and Stuttgart, who had him on loan in Germany previously, have both been mentioned in relation to him.

Liverpool chese to sign £52m Premier League player currently in limbo

Liverpool chese to sign £52m Premier League player currently in limbo

Liverpool’s search for Chieck Doucoure has reportedly stalled, with the Reds currently in talks with Crystal Palace for the midfielder.

According to RMC Sport, the negotiations between the two clubs have not materialized and Palace would like at least 60 million euros for Doucoure this summer.

Liverpool are desperate for a fourth and bottom midfielder, having spent a lot of money on the position these days. Doucoure emerged as a viable option for the Reds going into the final week of the transfer window.

However, this update seems to indicate that Liverpool are struggling to reach an agreement with Palace over Doucoure, with talks having stalled.

With the session closing on Friday, time is at a premium for Liverpool, and the Reds cannot afford to waste any of it on reaching the deadline, set for later this week. Doucoure would indeed be a huge asset to Liverpool given what they need in midfield, and a breakthrough with Palace is needed quickly if they are to secure the 23-year-old’s signature.

Liverpool must do everything they can to sign Doucoure

Time is running out for Liverpool to sign this window permanently and Doucouré could be an ideal signing for the Reds given what they need in the squad.

The Malian international has Premier League experience and has shown he can do his job against the best of the best in Europe, and Doucoure’s age is also a huge selling point.

And for Liverpool, the sooner there is a breakthrough with Palace the better, as the Reds are in no position to waste time given what has already happened this summer.

According to Ben Jacobs, the Liverpool hierarchy have “discussed” a possible move for a Premier League midfielder  within the confines of Anfield.

It was in the final week of last summer’s transfer window that the Reds made an unsuccessful £20m bid for Douglas Luiz (Matheus Leal, via Liverpool Echo), and the Aston Villa boss looks set to stay a player of interest to Jurgen Klopp and co.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the reporter said the 25-year-old was being “discussed internally” by LFC powerbrokers, although no visible action was taken to land the player.

Jacobs stressed: “Douglas Luiz is a name that has been discussed internally at Liverpool. At the moment I am not aware of any movement. I think it’s clear that Liverpool want to add by the end of the window when the real name is available.”

The reporter added: “I also think from Liverpool’s perspective, by unsuccessfully betting the £111m on Moises Caicedo, they have sent the message to the market that they have a lot of money to spend.”

“That could mean they will have to pay over their quota if they want a last-minute goal because there is an urgent need to get a deal with Liverpool. Everyone knows now that they have the financial wherewithal. ”

Journo: Liverpool 'discussed' potential transfer for 25-year-old who has been compared to Man Utd ace
Whatever Liverpool’s hopes of signing Luiz for £20m this time last year, for a player described by Brazilian media as his side’s version of Manchester United midfielder Casemiro (Samba Foot ), such a transfer fee would certainly not be successful.

The 25-year-old played a crucial role as Villa climbed the Premier League table, securing seventh place and qualifying for the Europa League Conference. Showing his importance to the team, he earned the second highest WhoScored rating under Unai Emery’s team.

Despite alternating between a central and defensive midfield role, he finished the season with a healthy return of six goals and six assists in the top flight alone, eclipsing the performance of any midfielder at Anfield. in the 2022/23 season (WhoScored). Liverpool know their qualities thanks to their outstanding performance against us towards the end of last season, winning three tackles, five duels, creating two wide chances, having a 100% success rate in dribbling and Jacob assisting Ramsey’s goal in the draw 1-1 (Sofascore). .

It would be a bargain to steal Villa for Luiz this week, especially if they face our opponent next Sunday, but the Reds will be fully aware that it would take a massive offer for Emery’s side to even consider. the idea of a 25-year sale for us.

Jurgen Klopp intervenes as angry Virgil van Dijk ‘insults’ officials over Liverpool red

Jurgen Klopp intervenes as angry Virgil van Dijk 'insults' officials over Liverpool red
Virgil van Dijk was sent off in a nightmarish first half for Liverpool against Newcastle.

Jurgen Klopp stepped in by seemingly pushing Virgil van Dijk through the tunnel after the Liverpool defender was sent off against Newcastle. Van Dijk has been sacked for the first time in his Reds career after bringing down Aleksandar Isak to deny a clear scoring chance.

The Dutchman was visibly angry with the decision and it took him some time before he walked off the pitch. He continued to yell at referee John Brooks, with Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville implying he was “insulting” the referee. Van Dijk eventually made his way to the touchline and continued yelling at the fourth official, sounding like he was cursing in his face. Liverpool manager Klopp then appeared to step in to prevent his experienced star from getting into further trouble.

Klopp gently nudged Van Dijk through the tunnel and away from the scene, where the defender clearly wanted to continue arguing his case against the fourth official. The German then continued to protest with the agents, risking being reprimanded.

Van Dijk’s red card came as part of a chaotic first half for Liverpool at St. James’ Park. Fellow defender Trent Alexander-Arnold narrowly escaped sending off in the opening six minutes.

The England defender was booked after three minutes for throwing the ball away after a decision he didn’t like – now considered a mandatory yellow card under guidelines given to referees at the start of the season. Moments later, the right-back cynically brought down Anthony Gordon.

Umpire Brooks only let an embarrassed Alexander-Arnold get away with a warning. But it was the English ace’s mistake that led Newcastle to open the scoring midway through the first half. Mohamed Salah’s poor pass proved too much for Alexander-Arnold to control, allowing Gordon to escape on goal. The former Everton winger coolly passed Alisson.

Newcastle then had the chance to make it 2-0. Isak collected Gordon’s pass and appeared to be one-on-one with Alisson, only for Van Dijk to bring down the Swede savagely.

Brooks had no choice but to show the 32-year-old the red card. Van Dijk will miss the match between Liverpool and Aston Villa next weekend, but his apparent abuse of the referee and fourth official could cost him an extended suspension.

Speaking of Sky’s match commentary, ex-Manchester United defender Neville said: ‘Now he’s abusing the referee. You just have to take your medicines and leave the pitch. We’ve all been there.’

Jurgen Klopp reveals Ibrahima Konate will only return 'after the international break'
Ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Newcastle, Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Ibrahima Konate’s injury – and it’s not exactly good news.

After Klopp said in his pre-match press conference that Konate was ‘doubtful’ due to his injury, the Frenchman didn’t make the matchday squad.

Explaining the situation, Klopp told the Premier League International Wire: “He will be back after the international break. Not too serious, but serious enough.

“Maybe a chance for [Aston] Villa but I expect him to come back after the international break.”

That means we’ll probably see him next time in the red shirt against Wolves on September 16. Theoretically, it also excludes him from being called up to the national team, which will help his recovery

For the match against Newcastle, Joel Matip replaces the Frenchman who will team up with Virgil van Dijk for the first time this season, and Andy Robertson will form the back three as Liverpool have the ball.

Matip has filled this role before, but he seemed quite uncomfortable covering the large spaces that were required of him.

Wataru Endo will start his first game in midfield for Liverpool and Klopp told Sky Sports: “For everything we’ve done in training, Wataru looks really fit, so it was clear he would be starting today.”

Klopp added: “Diogo [Jota] was unable to train yesterday. From a tactical point of view we had a very important session. He had a bit of a cold or something, like some players have had this week, which meant he couldn’t train.’

Klopp added: “Diogo [Jota] was unable to train yesterday. From a tactical point of view we had a very important session. He had a bit of a cold or something, like some players have had this week, which meant he couldn’t train.’

Jarell Quansah benched against Newcastle and Klopp have said he is another option in defence, as has Joe Gomez.

Liverpool more likely to sign £38million player than Tottenham, he wants to join them – reporter

    Piero Hincapie
Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie will join Liverpool ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.

Hincapie has been linked with a move to Anfield as the Reds look for a promising left centre-back.

And according to journalist Ben Jacobs it is a move that would please the player very much. However, on the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Jacobs said that while Liverpool may be the most likely destination for Hincapie, they are still not entirely convinced of him.

“The last name I would put on the centre-back, even though I think he’s potentially more Liverpool and maybe still West Ham, is still [Piero] Hincapie,” explained the journalist. “He is a left-wing central defender, with very high potential and good experience, and Tottenham have certainly gathered numbers and data on him. I don’t think they have selected him at the moment but he could be a name to watch if he wants to move up to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

“I don’t think it’s fair at this stage to say Spurs are in the running, but bear in mind the point I made earlier about what happens if you miss a goal. Who do you turn to in the last few hours of the window and that’s where you could get some surprises.

“But I’ve been told that if he becomes a Premier League club the player would love Liverpool, but he’s not quite sold yet and West Ham, who have been missing Harry Maguire, are still a club to watch.”

    Liverpool linked up with Hincapie

    Piero Hincapie
At his most basic form, Hincapie fulfills what Liverpool are presumably looking for in a new defensive signing. Youngster with great potential, already playing in one of Europe’s top leagues and – crucially – left-handed.

It would also seem that his signing would not cost much. Last week, Ecuadorian newspaper Teradeportes reported that Leverkusen would demand around £38million to sell the Ecuadorian. It’s well within reach for Liverpool.

Still, we know the Reds don’t usually attack a player unless they fully believe in him. Also at a relatively cheap price.

To that end, they’re supposed to be keeping tabs on Hincapie, presumably to gauge his true level.

If they think the 21-year-old is worth a try, we might see some movement next week. From what I hear, Hincapie would be more than happy to join us.

But it’s also worth mentioning that the centre-back has the same agent as Moises Caicedo. Not a man or organization that Liverpool have enjoyed success with of late. You might want to stay away. One thing to keep in mind though.

Mohamed Salah ‘to play last Liverpool game today’ as he is ‘medically booked’ ahead of Saudi move

Mohamed Salah 'to play last Liverpool game today' as he is 'medically booked' ahead of Saudi move
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to leave the club following Sunday’s match against Newcastle.

According to sensational news from Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Salah will play his last match against Liverpool today before leaving the club. The Egyptian is rumored to be leaving to undergo medical treatment and complete a move to Al-Ittihad after the Reds’ Premier League match in Newcastle.

Liverpool have already sold two players to the Saudi Pro League this summer. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have both been allowed to make mega money transfers away from Merseyside. And it looks like Salah could soon follow them out the Anfield exit door. Saudi sports channel Riyadiyatv claim the winger will join Al-Ittihad.

It is reported that Salah will play for Liverpool at St James’ Park before flying to Dubai for a medical. Al-Ittihad has increased its interest in Salah this week and now appears close to a deal.

This latest development follows reports from Sport Italia that Salah had informed Liverpool that he would like to join the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ittihad have reportedly put a bid of over £79m on the table for the 31-year-old.

According to the report, al-Ittihad had given itself until Monday to find out if an agreement on Salah was possible. They are more and more likely to succeed in their business.

Losing Salah at this stage of the transfer window would be a huge blow for Liverpool. Since joining from Roma in 2017, the striker has scored 187 goals in 307 appearances for the club. Salah was instrumental in Jurgen Klopp’s success, winning one Premier League title, the Champions League and reaching two further finals in Europe’s elite club competition. Klopp had squelched all speculation about Salah’s departure during Friday’s press conference.

The German said there is still no official interest and that Salah is 100% committed to Liverpool. Klopp said: “It’s difficult to talk about media stories because there is nothing to talk about from our point of view.

“Mo Salah is a Liverpool player. There is nothing. If it did, the answer would be no [it’s not for sale].’”

“My life philosophy is that I think of a problem when I have it. There is nothing at the moment. I have already said that if there is something, the answer would be no. [He is ] at 100 percent [committed].’”

Manchester City are pushing to sign Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes, who has been on Liverpool’s radar for a very long time.

Last year, Klopp’s side prepared an offer to poach the player from Sporting CP but he ended up joining Molineux’s side.

News – Liverpool hit as Man Utd strike £29m deal to sign Reds target – report

During the January transfer window, The Telegraph revealed that the Merseysiders have already agreed to land the Portugal international in a £44m deal this summer. Moreover, Anfield Watch exclusively reported a week ago that the Reds are finally looking to sign the 24-year-old star.

However, according to the latest media reports, Nunes has agreed to join Man City who are keen to strike a deal with Wolves in a bid to get them over the finish line.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions have already agreed personal terms with the Seleccao star and submitted an initial offer of over €50m.

However, according to the latest update from Portugal, there is unlikely to be enough supply.

According to today’s version of O Jogo, the West Midlands club agreed a €45m entry fee and €5m top-up to sign Nunes from the Lions last summer. Now they want minimum compensation of €70m (£60m) to part with their prized possession.

Nunes scored just one goal and one assist in the Premier League last season and Manchester City want him to replace the injured Kevin de Bruyne, who directly contributed to 41 goals in the treble season.

Liverpool have seen several midfield goals move elsewhere this summer and it now appears the 11-man Portuguese will eventually move to the Etihad.

Liverpool: Reds switch to Doucoure alternative
In an ideal world, Jurgen Klopp would have completed his midfield transformation at Liverpool by the third weekend of the Premier League season. But we are not in that world, as the German is still looking for an extra reinforcement after a turbulent summer.

Things seemed to be going to plan as they welcomed both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho quickly derailed plans before the Reds’ failure to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia don’t get the message across.

Now the Premier League giants have reportedly turned their attention to a £70m Cheick Doucour alternative.

What’s the latest Liverpool transfer news? After Liverpool finally welcomed a defensive midfielder in Wataru Endo, Liverpool reportedly focused on Crystal Palace’s Doucoure, who the Eagles would value at £70m.

However, when the Reds found out about the midfielder’s price, they felt Doucoure was too expensive and quickly turned their attention elsewhere.

With just under a week to go until the summer transfer window closes, however, Liverpool will need to act quickly if they are to complete their reconstruction in the middle of the park. At least Anfield players have now found an immediate alternative to Doucour.

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool could once again focus on Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who is worth £30million, as Bayern are now said to be more willing to sell the Dutchman this summer. The Merseyside club may need to act quickly if they are to secure the ex-Ajax signing, but Manchester United have also been long-time admirers of Gravenberch. Obviously, Erik ten Hag worked with the player when he was at Ajax.

    Should Liverpool sign Ryan Gravenberch?

Liverpool: Reds switch to Doucoure alternative
Liverpool’s need for a new midfielder is no secret and welcoming a 21-year-old from Bayern Munich, who could cost as little as £30m, would be a solid deal for the Reds.

Even if things didn’t work out between the Bundesliga champions (they only started three times in the league last season), Gravenberch has shown enough potential to continue and achieve success elsewhere. At his best, the Dutchman received plenty of praise, including from former Ajax youth coach Brian Tevreden, who told Goal: “Physically I see Frank in him back then. because he is big and very strong.” But technically I would say he is a better version of Pogba in his best days at Juventus in terms of technique and presence on the pitch.

“He’s very dominant like Pogba and I see that in Ryan.”

For his part, former Ajax striker Wim Kieft had nothing but praise, writing in De Telegraaf about the Liverpool Echo: “He is the greatest talent in the Netherlands”.

“Only 18, but the prototype of a full-fledged player. You can see it growing every week. “If someone like him makes his debut at the top level, the big question is whether he can keep up with the faster pace. Gravenberch understands this very quickly. Even in the Champions League. If you see how, despite his height and physicality, he easily walks away in the crowd and accelerates, then you don’t see much.

Gravenberch could be Liverpool’s ideal solution to their midfield problem.

Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has often been a thorn in Liverpool’s side.

Liverpool have a new reason not to love Eden Hazard, after he was previously teased on the pitch by the Belgian. The former Chelsea star was reportedly instrumental in Romeo Lavia’s decision to move from Anfield to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool spent much of the summer trying to sign Lavia. The Reds have rejected several offers from Southampton who value the player at at least £50m. Chelsea stepped in and matched the asking price, agreeing to pay £53m initially, plus a further £5m in addition. Eventually Liverpool also received an offer which was accepted by the Saints and it was up to the player to decide.

Like Moises Caicedo, Lavia chose Chelsea and signed a seven-year contract. To throw even more salt on Liverpool’s wounds, it appears that old nemesis Hazard influenced his decision.

Athletic say Hazard spoke to his Belgian compatriot before the deal was finalised. Hazard reportedly reassured Lavia that Chelsea would be the right place for him and provided insight into what it was like to live near London.

Chelsea have released a short clip of Lavia talking to Hazard on the phone after revealing the midfielder. However, the first conversation between the pair is said to have occurred earlier.

This latest development will only infuriate Liverpool fans even more. Hazard was often at his best on the pitch when he played against the Reds. In his 18 games against Liverpool, he scored seven goals. Only against Arsenal did he score the same number of goals.

Lavia might still have opted for a move to Chelsea even without Hazard’s influence. After his official announcement, the 19-year-old gave three reasons why he moved to the Blues.

Lavia told the Chelsea website: “Three factors influenced my decision. The project and the ambitions of the club were decisive factors in my choice to join Chelsea, as was the history of the club.

“It’s really exciting to be part of this football club and to write a bit of history. I am really happy and proud. It is a privilege to wear this jersey.

The news source mentioned that Bayern initially wanted to stay with the 21-year-old but the stance is changing.

Today Football Insider revealed that the German club are now preparing for the departure of the £30million star and are already considering a replacement.

Reportedly, the Bundesliga giants are considering signing Portugal international and Fulham player Joao Palhinha to replace Gravenberch.

According to renowned German journalist Christian Falk, the Merseysiders are leading the race to poach the former Ajax player from Bayern Munich. He explained:

“He (Gravenberch) will choose the club that will show him he has game time. . »

“If Liverpool get accurate, this transfer could happen very quickly.”

At Endo, Klopp has already brought in an experienced defensive midfielder who is hard-working and likes to tackle things. However, he is not known for his death.

The latest Liverpool news is of Jürgen Klopp gaining momentum in possible attempts to sign a midfielder and an impossible job looming for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool's £25.5m bid for Andre 'rejected' as Reds finally drop transfer for good
Our weekly Liverpool jury columnists consider the Bournemouth victory as well as Sunday’s matchup with Newcastle United.

When Liverpool plays Newcastle United this weekend, they will be looking to build on last Saturday’s three-point performance.

The Reds should be extremely encouraged by the fact that they were the only Premier League team to sweep Eddie Howe’s team from the previous season as they get ready to square off against the Magpies once more.

After the Argentine’s red card was overturned, Jurgen Klopp will have access to Alexis Mac Allister on Sunday afternoon, which is a significant improvement for the midfield. Additionally, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are nearing their respective comebacks from injuries, while Curtis Jones might miss his second straight game due to an ankle problem.

Four supporters have provided their opinions as part of a weekly ECHO fan column in anticipation of the Reds’ upcoming matchup with the Magpies.

Rhys Buchanan (city centre, @Rhys_Buchanan) – No changes required ahead of Sunday

I was more than happy to return to Anfield last weekend, reconnecting with old friends and familiar faces I hadn’t seen in a long time and remembering routines while enjoying a few cold beers in the beautiful sunshine. Fortunately, the Reds had no intention of ruining the celebration, so we could take pleasure in watching various other encouraging results accumulate over the course of the round of games (and that’s before we get to how I’ve missed the pies).

Aside from the initial shakiness at the back, I thought we displayed strong character to rally and could take a lot of positives with us. I was quietly impressed by Wataru Endo’s grit and determination, despite the challenging circumstances surrounding his introduction following Mac Allister’s severe dismissal. Diaz appears to be in great shape elsewhere, and Szoboszlai has all the makings of being a key player this season.

I would be looking to start the same team for Sunday’s challenging away game at Newcastle, and as a realist at this point, I would settle for a point to build on, or even better, a repeat of the Reds’ decisive away victory at St. James’ Park last season! Up the Reds.

Szoboszlai already has the look of the real deal, says Andrew Cullen (Widnes, @brothersred5).

Liverpool produced a composed performance against Bournemouth after a tentative start. Dominik Szoboszlai gave a dynamic, fluid performance that was overflowing with speed and power. He already has the appearance of being the player who can give the Liverpool midfield new life. We have benefited from having box-to-box midfielders who are strong and athletic, like Henderson and Fabinho, as well as players with flair, like Thiago and Keta.

Cody Gakpo’s midfield experiment hasn’t quite succeeded. Gakpo was essential to the team’s success last season in a more advanced role. He has, however, quickly lost playing time this season when he has been positioned in the middle of the field. When we want to unleash more attacking players onto the field at Anfield, Gakpo may be an option in the midfield, but as an established midfielder, the early indications are that such a position will stifle his brilliance rather than unfold it.

I anticipate Gakpo to be replaced by Endo when Manchester United visit this weekend. Our defensive posture should be improved by this switch. Even at this early stage, we must keep up with the advancing front-runners in the title race, which is already under way.

Liverpool is taking lessons from last year, writes David Shams (@ShamsWriter, Beijing).

Last season, the Liverpool supporters were doubting everything at this point. Sure, the 9-0 and 7-0 victories over Bournemouth and Manchester United offered a glimmer of hope, but the assurance we found in those performances could never be replicated. Was this the beginning of the end after such a high?

Of course, there are still unanswered questions. Once one issue is resolved today, another one will arise tomorrow.

Although it’s still very early in the season, it seems like some of the weaknesses from the previous campaign are almost completely overcome. In the past year, such grit and determination have not been seen. The team would have crumbled and flailed as they attempted to get back into the game against Bournemouth had they conceded an early goal. Unlike before, this time.

They managed to grind out a difficult point on the road at Stamford Bridge, which was something that the team from the previous season struggled with in other away games.
    For Sunday, this is encouraging.
Newcastle has grown stronger as a result of its renovation, riding high on petrodollars. A loss won’t end the season, but if you win all three, we’ll leave a lasting impression. It’s safe to say that last season is over.

The overturning of Mac Allister’s red card on Sunday could be crucial, according to James Noble (Worcestershire, @james_noble98).

We may not have had the easiest victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, but that might have worked in our favor. Finally, despite being down a goal and then a player, Liverpool responded enthusiastically and positively. As a season goes on, it can’t help but be beneficial to be able to use adversity as a springboard when necessary.

Dominik Szoboszlai served as the process’s technically astute driving force. What encouraging preliminary evidence the Hungarian is providing. However, the Reds continue to overly encourage their opponents. Sunday probably has a lot less margin for error.

Going to St. James’ Park in order to take on Newcastle does seem to jump off the page. The Magpies, radiant under Eddie Howe, should present a significant challenge. It’s one to anticipate and be prepared for.

It could be crucial to know when to shift up a gear and when to put the car into cruise. The rhythmic sense of Alexis Mac Allister can be useful in that regard. On Tuesday, it was extremely gratifying to learn that his red card had been overturned. Jürgen Klopp’s team can thrive in this environment if they have strong foundations and a persistent willingness to roll with the punches.

According to reporter 21-year-old will push for departure if Liverpool offer him £35million
Liverpool target Piero Hincapie is reportedly urging him to leave Bayer Leverkusen if offers of £35million arrive.

Hincapie has been linked with Liverpool in recent days as the transfer window enters its final stages. Reports yesterday even suggested that the Ecuadorian centre-back would ‘love’ to join the Reds.

The reporter who reported this news was Ben Jacobs. And Jacobs took to Twitter last night to post another very interesting Hincapie update. “Hincapie would love to play in the Premier League,” says the journalist.

“Still no offers. Could be available for £35m. Anything close to that price and I understand Hincapie would push for this move.

Hincapie ready to push for Leverkusen exit
On paper, Hincapie would look like a profile Liverpool could target.

Measuring only 1.80m, he is slightly shorter than the central defender that Jürgen Klopp usually recruits. But he’s young – 21 – and left-handed, something the Reds are clamoring for.

At £35m, he’s also relatively good value. It was reported yesterday that Hincapie could cost at least €60m which is certainly not something Liverpool would be happy with. But at £35m he’d be much, much tastier.

The dark side of all of this is that we don’t necessarily want the type of characters who are ready to make progress from their current clubs. It may be naïve, but it doesn’t bode particularly well for Hincapie’s agent who is the same one who recently torched Liverpool in the Moises Caicedo saga.

The Reds will not have forgotten him and it really feels like the agents are pulling the strings. Still, Hincapie could still be interesting for Liverpool at a cheap price.

The transformation of the Liverpool midfielder: reasons to be happy, parts 1, 2 and 3
Liverpool’s recent victory at Anfield against Bournemouth might not have been as haunting as it was at this time last year, but there were signs of a new horizon.

A promising end to the season in terms of form and results, an initially optimistic start to our summer transfer business, then disruptive Arabian Nights followed by no return attempts to lure Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Anfield.

Add an incomplete stand at Anfield and things are a bit turbulent.

Glad everything is going well on the pitch as the new season has started…

An overly generous and sloppy opening, profuse gifts offered as a goal in our own half seemed elusive. When the ball first landed in the Liverpool net on Saturday, the incident itself – and the linesman’s flag – should have acted like fragrant salts.

    But they didn’t.

Even with a deficit, Jurgen Klopp’s players seemed to be tripping over their own feet, as if the score in the corresponding game last season had entitled them to sleepwalk in the first home game.

As juxtapositions go, this was the opposite of what happened at Stamford Bridge six days earlier, where Liverpool were dominant and calm until Mo Salah’s VAR foul turned an expected 2-0 lead into a inconclusive 1-1 draw.

Three goals and a red card later, and it looked a little more than scripted we might have imagined for the start of 2023/24, after 2022/23 ended with a run of seven wins and four draws in one unbeaten streak last 11 Premier League games.

Perspective and all while some of us are opting for the layer of emotional protection that comes with an “expect the worst and hope for the best” approach to our hopes this time around despite the transfer setbacks, I think there are reasons to be cheerful. A two-part renovation

    Two-part rebuild

    A two-part rebuild
The midfield, which had long been the elephant in the Anfield dressing room – including during winning seasons in the Champions League and Premier League – has finally had its much-needed restart.

Partly planned, partly unexpected. Five out, three in as things stand, with the third of those newcomers arriving just over 24 hours before kickoff on Saturday.

It provided an uplifting but uncomfortable rejuvenation.

The numbers game is no doubt a concern, but it was tempered by the emergence of Stefan Bajcetic last season and the ground made up by Curtis Jones in the run up to that. Of the others we were able to keep, Thiago remains but will certainly stick to his average, missing at least a third of the season, while the decision on Harvey Elliott, which seemed to raise more questions than answers, is still largely undecided. his late appearance on Saturday.

The departures of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came as no surprise this summer, but the losses of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson were clearly not part of the script.

The latter two were certainly keen on their lucrative move east, but it was highly unusual for Liverpool to let them go without a replacement being found and secured.

    The next great midfield duo?

    Two-part rebuild
Rightly or wrongly, Fabinho and Henderson provided Liverpool’s midfield base for a long time, with a revolving door system dictating who should play alongside them.

Demographics are changing dramatically. The departure of Henderson and Fabinho could very well do us.

    The next great midfield duo?

You can’t help but be thrilled by the additions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai who, together, offer us third eye vision and a force of nature that can mesmerizingly serve us for many years to come.

Mac Allister is perfect for Liverpool in theory. Cultured, intelligent and calm in possession, he worked out the angles in his head long before interacting with the ball. Potentially, after nearly a decade and a half of waiting, we may have finally found an heir for Xabi Alonso.

    The next great midfield duo?
He had difficulties with the red card shown to him on Saturday, but even if it had been a yellow card it would still have been two yellow cards in the first two games.

Even if his sending off against Bournemouth were to be reversed, we will probably have to get used to his periodic suspensions over the next few months.

In Szoboszlai we find a player who seems to have everything you could want from a midfielder.

Power, pace, offensive spirit, no problem handling the dark arts when necessary, nose for goal, will to win, passion and dedication. An iron fist in a player’s velvet glove, it’s a joy to behold.

    The missing piece?

Liverpool set to seek final offer to sign £32m midfielder – report
Our latest signing, Wataru Endo, entered the fray shortly after Mac Allister’s departure on Saturday, and played his part in taking us to as serene a third endgame as we could have wished for with 10 men.

Strangely, Endo was canceled by a glass-half-empty caller on the Radio Merseyside phone as I was walking home, apparently for no better reason than the fact that it was about £95m cheaper than Caicedo would have stopped us.

Whether or not Klopp makes another midfield addition before the end of the transfer window, signing Endo could prove to be a smart move.

The departures of Henderson, Fabinho and Milner have seen much of the team’s experience disappear and the Japanese captain is able to make up some of the shortfall.

We’ll probably need a lot of that at Tyneside next Sunday in a game where we can’t afford to have Cody Gakpo in midfield.

Coming off a crucial win over Bournemouth, a fixture between trips to Chelsea and Newcastle next Sunday gives us an opportunity to make a statement if we can.

That goes for both Liverpool’s position and whether Eddie Howe and his players are raising doubts about how they feel about themselves and their chances this season.

Jeremy Doku met Jurgen Klopp and offered Mohamed Salah a shirt -but Sadio Mane seemed to dissuade him from joining Liverpool.
Five years ago Jurgen Klopp thought he would sign Jeremy Doku as a possible replacement for Sadio Mane – but the ex-Liverpool star has succumbed to the decision.

And now the Reds boss has to deal with the Belgian winger who is set to move to Manchester City.

talkSPORT understands the 21-year-old is on his way to the Etihad after agreeing a £55million transfer fee with Rennes.

However, it was Liverpool who were the first to secure his services as it looked like they had beaten Arsenal and Chelsea to move Anderlecht forward in 2018.

After being allowed to speak to the then 15-year-old, Doku was given a tour of the club’s former training ground in Melwood. He also spoke to boss Klopp and then Under-18 manager Steven Gerrard, and was even given a signed shirt by Mohamed Salah.

But it was an interview with Mane, whose place he would take in the future, that convinced him to stay at Anderlecht.

Speaking to Ouest-France in 2021, Doku said of the proposed transfer: “My 16th birthday was approaching, the age where you can sign a professional contract.

Jeremy Doku met Jurgen Klopp and offered Mohamed Salah a shirt -but Sadio Mane seemed to dissuade him from joining Liverpool.

“Many teams came to me: Liverpool had the most concrete interest, but there were also Arsenal and Chelsea.

“I went with my mom and dad and we got a tour of the stadium, the training ground and even the school I was going to. “They gave me a shirt autographed by Salah and I got to know the players.

“I had the chance to consult with Jurgen and also with Gerrard, we watched some video moments and he talked about the development.

“We met players, [Simon] Mignolet because he was Belgian, [Georginio] Wijnaldum from Holland.

“I talked a lot with Mane, but we didn’t really talk about football. We talked about everything. “He told me that I was young, that I still had time…he didn’t want to convince me or tell me: ‘Come here, you will succeed.’”

Doku added: “I preferred to be careful. I know what my trajectory should have been like.

“That’s why I said to myself at 15 that it was serious because I saw my career. I know where to go and at that moment I knew that I had to stay at Anderlecht.

“Whenever people ask me if I regret it I always say no because if Liverpool came to me when I was 15 and they love me they will come back later for sure.” It’s up to me to play well.”

The 16-capped international finally joined Rennes in 2020 for a club record fee of £25.5m, scoring 12 goals in 91 appearances in all competitions for the French side.
